Imagine if a defeated Germany after WW2 with a capital city levelled to the ground and divided among four occupying armies had declared a political treaty that would have led to them slowly recovering and redefining their country alongside former enemies even though it was split along political lines. I know, that would have been preposterous. Damn that ESO. Orsinium is a pretty decent dlc and worth playing imo and I've been a fan since Daggerfall.
Like it would always be that black and white. Even in our history most hated factions sided at some point, if it benefits from it. Orsinium was destroyed long ago at the time of eso and the clans were mostly spreaded in Skyrim, especially falkreath. A whole new generation of orcs built the second orsinium, including Kurog, who was very ambitious in uniting the orcish clans and establishing an own kingdom. He knew he couldn't reach, that without help. When Emeric needed help to defeat a rebellion started by Ranser, Kurog offered help and he was allowed to built an orcish kingdom with a big part of High Rocks territory. Orsinium is still at its building phase in eso and it's not like they are best friends, but both benefitted from it, they achieved peace, a large kingdom, unification and identification, trade deals with bretons. Of course Emeric played a big part in it too, he wasn't a racist and he knew he would need allies, I mean he even married a Redguards princess to get the forebears on his side. Crowns don't accept the covenant anyway. If you want it detailed, then just play eso.

@@danielclark-hughes692 down with all the races except the mighty Dunmer jk I like all the races and their law though I am biased towards the dark elves
Orcs are more interesting than I was led to believe. What fascinates me is how Gortwog gro-Nagorm would gain success in establishing Orsinium after using more diplomatic and political means, in what I see as a development in Orcs, adapting themselves to fit into a more civilized world, and forego the wild pariah traditions, which had only made them resented by the other races, given their brutal and beastlike communities. The theory that Malacath may instead be a path to darkness and continued resentment, and the worship of Trinimac, their original leader, untwisted by Daedra, be a symbol of a new era of Orcs. This non-Daedric alternative to worship, combined with an increased effort to build a strong relationship with The Empire, would truly help the Orcs gain a permanent footing in Tamriel as an accepted folk. The conversion won't be easy, as many Orcs fear the consequences of breaking their pact with Malacath, but I believe threats of punishment shouldn't scare Orcs into building a better future for themselves. They are not so intimidated. The conservative Orcs will, however, continue to hold strongly to their traditions, creating a divide between the race.
It would be ironically fitting for the Orsimer to abandon Malacath. Malacath being the prince of the shunned and ostracized, and having the Orcs abandon him in favor of Trinimac, his “better half” if you will, is very fitting for the very embodiment of the hated.
as someone who grew up being constantly ostracised bc I never "belonged" anywhere (even within communities I identified as being a part of), the struggle of the orsimer always spoke to me on a deep level. and while my main love will always be the dunmer, there will always be a special place within me for the sons and daughters of orsinium, right next to my heart 💚
Man why take the fight to Mor Khazgur in your vid? Borgakh the Steel Heart is my favorite follower for Orc builds. Makes me sad to see her is trouble. Either way I'm sure she gave a good fight. Keep up the good work guys, your channel is legendary!
I want a single-player game too, but eso has some great stuff, especially this orsinium DLC is pretty nice and their job of portraying the orcs not only as brutal savages. Pretty sad, what they did with Mor Khazgur in Skyrim, because it was an ancient orc stronghold and nearly as glorious as the first orsinium, but in Skyrim there just a wooden fence with two houses lol
I know Fudge Muppet doesn't like ESO but I would much prefer you show us Orsinium as it is ingame instead of something from Skyrim for the hundredth time where you see nothing of Orsinium.
It’s more of do to lack of cinematic view that they don’t. I understand that but in this case they really should have just shown the actual city. “But people get in the way and you will only see our cherictor”. Your not covering a battle so who cares and if you are just stand still in first person. Not the best shot but eso is gorgeous so it’s worth the trade off. Plus why were you showing crappy orc villages orsiniom looks more like markarth then anything. It’s a city of towering stone not wood, and it’s huge
Probably didn't want to use ESO footage because you can't get scenic screenshots without the developer console or a few dozen gig of retextures and mesh updates. Same reason he didn't use footage from Daggerfall Unity, despite actually containing the locations, events, and people described in the founding of Third Orsinium.
@@Sinuev1 ya I know. tried to get some good shots of orsinume after the comment to see if it was possible. it was but it was only ok. still a shot of the town would be worth it even if the quality isn't the best

i would almost wish that there were an Orsinium questline in every game. if in every game you could find it. a orc village that grows as you do and or as you progress in the two questlines. you either help them build it or you conspire with someone or other to destroy it. then come the next game you learn it was destroyed some number of time ago that is vague enough that it could have both been during the previous game or a respectable amount of time later, so now they are here in this game trying again.
Orcs are my favorite race. They are the only Tamrielic culture that fights for their freedom and live by a tue code of honor. Argonians have been subjugated too but at least they had their kingdom. The only thing the orsimer wanted was a place to thrive. Not conquer or take revenge, just live in peace, amd I love them for that
There is a new Orsinium. And the various strongholds are really smaller village's and fortified times. But yes Orcs are attacked more often than not. But at least the Nords leave us alone.
Great video. Question why don't ogrers , goblins and orcs join together as outcast brothers. Two who would win out of the three outcast Why does Malacath dislike giants . Four does Malacath dislike being called or worshiped as Trinimac.
1. They have 2. Orcs they are the smartest and generally better equipped 3. Because Giants are closer to Men then Mer even if they have pointed ears they are close to Nords in the family tree 4. Yes he dose
Excellent video! If the next TES game does take place in High Rock and Hammerfell, I hope we get to see Orsinium too, maybe in DLC if not the base game.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Orcs recruit aide from the Tsaeci due to how many times the people (minus the Empire) have screwed them over. It makes sense too since the Tsaeci recognize the leadership of the dragonborn, and if they associate the Empire as a result of the dragonblood, it’ll be an easy ally to trust not to kill the Empire. :)
Orsimer are my favourite kind of Orcs. Elder Scrolls took everything we recognise as Orcish (savage warrior race who worship a warrior deity) and injected nuance, tragedy, sympathy, inspirational levels of strength and resilience. I would love to play an Elder Scrolls game about building the 5th Orsinium. You are an Orc Warlord trying to build the new Nation State. You must gather resources, be diplomatic with other races whilst doing them favours, take care of your people and build an Orcish civilisation from the ground up. You also get a choice whether to join the Imperial Empire or the Aldmeri Dominion or become an Independent state. The choices you make will determine the kind of Orsinium you build and whether or not it's sustainable.
Nuanced orcs are dumb. How can I have sympathy for followers of Malacath? Malacath is pure evil and his followers are too. Orcs should have just stayed monsters to be killed like in Daggerfall. Are you going to feel sympathy for mudcrabs now too?
@@YourWaywardDestiny "Sometimes called Malak, Orkey,[2] or Mauloch,[3] Malacath is considered one of the most evil Daedric Princes" "he seems to enjoy watching mortals fight one another" He also is friends with Mehrunes Dagon and the other evil Daedra guys. Straight from a wiki. Also, orcs are evil, they set up raiding camps in other lands, that's what those orc stronghold are. They're like bandit bases because that's what their race is. In Daggerfall all orcs just attack your character on sight because they are evil monsters like goblins and zombies.
I have to hand it to them… they don’t know and to give up. I like it. One things for damn sure they would make a powerful ally. If only people would take the hint that these guys don’t give up. Maybe one day
I hope that Orsinium will be big thing in TES VI. Orcs deserve there own kingdom. And it would be rly cool to help them create and save last Orsinium that will last forever with new kingdom of Orsinium. Orsinium is in Hammerfell at the border to skyrim in the 4th era. Since TES 6 will be most likely playing in Hammerfell, it could definitely be, that we are going to see the stronghold of orsinium in northern Hammerfell.

I do mostly enjoy Fudgemuppet TES lore, but the 4th era blindspot zone... anything between 4E01 & 4E0201 does sometimes annoy, when at least some detail is available, if not a lot. Instead of only mentioning the sacking of Nova Orsinium early in the 4th era in one just sentence, there's at least three of four sentences of available detail to properly place it in context. It would have been worthy to note that it occurred near to the end of the seven years of the Stormcrown Interregnum. Well after the assassination of Potentate Ocato and before the rise of Titus Mede I, when the fragmented Empire had little influence over other provinces. As I recall, a Daggerfall and Sentinel led force mounted a prolonged assault of Nova Orsinium. Two Legions still in the area assisted in the spiriting away of Orcish refugees, mostly children. I don't believe there's any clear detail of whether Wayrest actively took part in the sacking, though it was within the broader claim of Wayrest controlled land. Whether Wayrest participated or just stood aside, remains unspoken. There's enough detail to at least state that the sacking of Nova Orsinium only took place because there was no Empire of substance to stop it and that Daggerfall and Sentinel were eager to finally eliminate Gortwog's Orsinium, while they had the best chance to get rid of it for good. In any case, when available, context is everything. There was plenty of that earlier in the video, but not for the blindspot zone. My two cents for today. Still watching and mostly enjoying for my near daily dose of TES lore. SGI
That's probably a fair point also. However, my point was that the sacking of Nova Orsinium took place specifically during the Stormcrown Interregnum, when there was open opportunity for the remaining outlying provinces to run amok without any consequence of challenge from Cyrodiil. I thought that seemed contextually relevant to mention, if only briefly.
@@gregmiller3290 Well, it was a time of chaos, and from what I recall, both High Rock and Hammerfell had either already left the Empire at that point, or were in the process of doing so. Orsinium was kind of a semi-Imperial region, so it would explain why the Empire would care, as they'd be directly threatening Imperial land.
@@dutchpatriot17 Not to argue at all... but, perhaps discuss. As I understand it, those two provinces had not yet tried to secede from the stumbling Empire during those years [4E11-4E17]. It was more the case that the authority of the Empire under Thules 'the Gibbering' became tenuous at best. During Ocato's brief run at trying to maintain the Septim legacy, Argonia had rebelled and seceded. Morrowind suffered the Red Mountain incident. Then the Argonians rampaged across those territories and up the eastern coast, presumably on hist sap, before eventually retreating back to the south, once they were seemingly finished with that. The assassination of the Mane in Elseweyr led to the progressive break up of that province into lesser kingdoms, effectively breaking off from the Empire in bits and pieces, though an alliance of sorts with Rimmen apparently remained. Even the Summerset Isles had yet to officially secede or try to annex Valenwood until a few short years afterward. During the Stormcrown Interregnum, Bravil and Leyawiin had also rebelled against the White-Gold Tower. So, yeah... a time of chaos. The idea of an Empire ruled from the White-Gold Tower and administered by the Elder Council seemed more notional claim than a fact with substance. The perfect time for ignoring anything Uriel Septim VII might have agreed to in the past, like permitting Nova Orsinium to remain within the Wayrest controlled region of High Rock. I'd think that it would have been unlikely for Daggerfall and Sentinel to have gone all out on those particular Orcs under Uriel's rule. Perhaps, still somewhat unlikely during Ocato's brief run. However, during the Interregnum, I expect that it looked like a good time to indulge old hostilities with some abandon. Once Titus Mede I had taken the IC, he needed to fight to restore order in Cyrodiil first, then turn to asserting, coercing or negotiating Imperial authority over further dissent. Some remaining provinces were more easily persuaded than others. I believe that Skyrim and High Rock accepted Mede fairly easily. Hammerfell decided to put up a fight, but after some limited warfare, fell into line again. Argonia was already lost, along with the fragmented Elsweyr. Morrowind was a broken vassal, perhaps left on a long leash, rather than released. Then the Altmer finally broke away officially and then effectively took Valenwood with them. Given that the sacking of Nova Orsinium took place before he was even on the scene, it remains unknown how Titus Mede I might have responded. It seemed that he was trying rebuild the legacy of the Septim Empire with what remained, but the Thalmor regime stabbed a dagger into that as soon as he got to work on it. If nothing else, it seems that the new Emperor was fine with taking lots of Orcs into Legion ranks, but not doing much of anything else to either help or hinder the diaspora of Orcs. Anyhow, just my thoughts and observations, extrapolated from existing detail. And of course, details of that period remain somewhat scant, but not totally non-existent.

Orcs: *Builds Orsinium*
Bretons and Redguards: *Destroys Orsinium*
Orcs: *Joins The Daggerfall Covenant anyway*
Thats why I hate eso. I will never play it.
There is some good stuff in there
Imagine if a defeated Germany after WW2 with a capital city levelled to the ground and divided among four occupying armies had declared a political treaty that would have led to them slowly recovering and redefining their country alongside former enemies even though it was split along political lines.
@@eatsthedarkness8059 I was joking. I know it's more complex than that

I mean Trinimac is still worshipped by other Elves, Malacath is just a pile of Sh*t (literally) that keeps the Orcs down.
as someone who grew up being constantly ostracised bc I never "belonged" anywhere (even within communities I identified as being a part of), the struggle of the orsimer always spoke to me on a deep level.
and while my main love will always be the dunmer, there will always be a special place within me for the sons and daughters of orsinium, right next to my heart 💚
Retaking and defending orsinium would be a cool questline. Even a main quest if the daedra were involved.
Malacath watch our deeds
I can safely say I know more about the orcs of Skyrim then I do my own country’s history
Man why take the fight to Mor Khazgur in your vid? Borgakh the Steel Heart is my favorite follower for Orc builds. Makes me sad to see her is trouble. Either way I'm sure she gave a good fight. Keep up the good work guys, your channel is legendary!

@@yannkam2127 fair point.

DELICIOUS, NOW WHERE IS DESSERT FUDGEMUPPET?
Again They decided to use Skyrim Footage over ESO footage.

Although I like FudgeMuppet,
I prefer the lore videos from Lady Scrolls because she often uses awesome art, sometimes from eso too.
@@Sinuev1 Just look at the latest Molag Bal / coldharbour video... most scenes are just generic third person fighting with transparent UI. You're gonna pretend you can't do that in ESO? Honestly, there are many, many occasions they could've used eso footage to show the things they talk about. It's plain laziness of them that they probably never even looked at eso to use.
i would almost wish that there were an Orsinium questline in every game. if in every game you could find it. a orc village that grows as you do and or as you progress in the two questlines. you either help them build it or you conspire with someone or other to destroy it. then come the next game you learn it was destroyed some number of time ago that is vague enough that it could have both been during the previous game or a respectable amount of time later, so now they are here in this game trying again.
Dunno if the comparisons been made but orcish culture makes me think of Romani gypsy travelers defo my favourite race in Tamriel.

Straight from a wiki. Also, orcs are evil, they set up raiding camps in other lands, that's what those orc stronghold are. They're like bandit bases because that's what their race is. In Daggerfall all orcs just attack your character on sight because they are evil monsters like goblins and zombies.

I hope that Orsinium will be big thing in TES VI. Orcs deserve there own kingdom.

SGI
The Empire wouldn't have gotten involved in the ordeal anyway. So long as the Empire itself isn't threatened, the Empire doesn't care.
Eso footage for the love of fucking god
Orsimer have two things left of their elder blood . Their ears and affinity for magic compared to humans or beastial races.
