The Dawnguard: Hunts vampires: Invests in a fort for an HQ The Vigilants of Stendar: Hunts all kinds of dangerous beings: Designates a glorified farmhouse as an HQ
My only problem with it when I was young is that its relatively forgettable. Some of the members of the dawguard aren't very flushed out, and it feels like you don't spend enough time with the dawguard given how much time you spend alone with Serena between the forgotten vale and the soul carin.
I know it's relatively minor, but in ESO, there's an ability in the Fighters Guild skill tree called Silver Bolts, and it's description reads, "Fires an augmented DAWNGUARD Vampire Hunter's crossbow bolt".
Just stumbled across this video today... a year too late but I was going to mention the same thing... I think its important to note that it is a FIGHTER'S GUILD ability that references the Dawnguard. We know that mercenaries made up the very first members of the Dawnguard and the Fighter's Guild is made up of mercenaries. This ability has also been in the game way before even Imperial City launched (not sure if it is a vanilla game ability although I know the skill was reworked and renamed at another point)
I can see both versions of the Dawnguard's history being true. Maybe only part of the old Dawnguard became vampires, the other half abhorred vampires and hunted them down. In the end, there weren't enough of them left to keep the group going.
I was about to bring up the same thing... Being made up of merc's it wouldn't be a shock if the order fictionalized some seeking the power of the vampire others going to slay all undead route
@@luciandragos8556 Or maybe some of them were secretly turned and the rest had to put down their brothers. In the end the vampires are all but wiped out but so are the Dawnguard?

Thoughts on why the Dawnguard faction (and the Fort) are never mentioned in ESO: it's possible the Jarl of Riften was so embarrassed about his son becoming a vampire that all mention of the place was stricken from the records. Think about it. The Fort is situated in a box canyon that is hidden in the mountains east of Riften, and you can only get to it by going through a cave/tunnel hidden off the main road. It's possible that the only reason Isran ever knew about it was because an ancestor of his was an original member. Even Sorine and Gunmar joke about his "secret hideaway." Perhaps the members of the original Dawnguard dissolved due to infighting, lending credence to Sorine's side of the story about some of them becoming vampires. If the son of the Jarl infected some of the original guard, and the others fought against them, it's likely few survived the ordeal, thus ensuring few people outside of Riften ever knew the faction or the Fort even existed. News in a medieval setting tends not to travel very quickly, despite the prodigious prowess of the couriers. Anyway, those are my thoughts. But then, I'm a writer. It's how I would have explained it, if I worked for Bethesda.

I actually belive that the reason why ESO doesn't have any references to the Dawnguard is because ESO takes place before the Dawnguard was formed. Note: I don't know exactly in what point in 2E the Dawnguard was first formed, if there even is an known year/decade/century in wich they were formed
@@HzizsVynryn yeah, but there really isn't that many dawnguard books out there. Apart from the ones the came with the expansion there really isn't any other books.

Serana doesn't need such petty tricks to win people over! She's a lovely goddess, perfect in every possible- oh, crap... I may have been affected after all.
Serana's charming enough not to need it, unless it reaches through the screen too. Hard not to take her with me, but I prefer a bit more stealth than serana likes.
If you pay attention, you’ll find a Dawnguard flag/pennon hanging in Volkihar Keep. Also, the Vampire Noble armor look similar to Dawnguard armor. I think that perhaps the original Dawnguard are linked to Harkon in some way.
After killing harkon and taking over as the vampire lord, i got a random encounter around the western watchtower where i got attacked by dawnguard that had a letter stating there was a treasure cache somewhere nearby
Dawnguard is THE best written questline of the entire game, specially on Dawnguard side. The ideology conflict, the emotions involved, even the entire family vs true companions that splits serana apart while she accompanies and guides you through her family's secrets. It all peaks when she willingly raises a blade against her father, by your side. She realizes that her father and family died when Harkon laid his eyes upon the prophecy, that she had become a mean to an end in his sight. It is truly a miniature masterpiece within the Skyrim.
Ever since I first heard about the alternate history of the dawnguard I've always thought that they didn't do it for selfish reasons, at least not at first, I have a feeling that they turned themselves because they thought it would make hunting vampires that much easier (see the whole 'fighting fire with fire' concept) which makes sense in theory but they would have quickly been corrupted by not only the need to feed but also the very power that they sought to aid them
Thank you, Nate. I too am salty the Dawnguard weren't involved in the Greymoor expansion. I want to be hopeful something will come up, but that's all I can be, sadly.
Not sure if it's new since this video, but I recently got into ESO, and they do mention the Dawnguard very briefly with the flavour text for the crossbow skill from the fighter's guild.
You missed that in ESO the Fighters guild skill lines first unlockable ability is a Dawnguard Crossbow. So by the time of ESO the Dawnguard did their thing already and disbanded. They also used the Ravenwatch in place of the Dawnguard in the Greymoor and Markarth DLCs a MUCH better option for us vampire lovers.
My guess is the Dawnguard disbanded before the events of eso. Those members joined the fighter's guild hence why the crossbow ability is in the fighter's guild tree.
There's a skill in the Fighter's Guild skill tree in ESO called Silver Bolts which has your character fire a crossbow at a target and within the skill description it says that this is a Dawnguard Crossbow so that means the Dawnguard were referenced in ESO too!
Actually, the Dawnguard are mentioned in both ESO and in Blades. In ESO the Fighters Guild skill Silver Bolts is specifically described as being a "Dawnguard Vampire Hunter's crossbow". I'm also almost positive I heard an NPC in the ESO Greymoor expansion talking about them; one of those things where a random NPC makes some comment related to quests you've completed when you're walking by. Of course, since it's a random bit of dialogue and I was rushing by at the time, I can't be totally sure of what they said, I just thought I heard someone say something along the lines of "too bad the Dawnguard isn't around".
Are you sure the Dawnguards were suddenly formed to fight against Harkon and his people? I'm pretty sure the Dawnguards started as mercenaries who were hired as jailors by the Jarl of Riften (not current Jarl but a Jarl from long ago) to keep imprisoned the son of the Jarl who became a vampire.
"Heard they're reforming the dawngaurd, old vampire hunters fort or something. Might consider joining up myself" *joins Harkon instead because they cooler*

In Oblivion, there’s two Arielle Jurards, one being the Lich, but the other a Breton mage in the Mage’s Guild. She’s involved in the quest to get the Anvil Recommendation.
Actually, to me, that sword would make more sense for a vampire than for a hunter. Increased damage given and decreased damage taken when health is low? That's pretty good for someone who, idk, can't heal during the day...

Unrelated to Dawnguard, but also cool. If you wear a piece of thieves guild armor, while talking to the blacksmith in Solsthiem, he tells you he used to be a guild brother, with his birth brother Delvin. Doing a quest for him, gets you a key to his house, where you find a letter to his daughter Sapphire
I've found one reference to the Dawnguard in ESO. In the game you can join the fighters quild, which lets you use the fighters guild skill tree. One of the abilities of the skill line is "silver bolts", which consists of the player firing a crossbow at their opponents, spesifically a dawnguard crossbow. This is the description: "Fire a Dawnguard Vampire Hunter's crossbow bolt to strike the enemy."
I think you overlooked the possibility that Serana was slowing charming Isran and the rest of the Dawnguard. I don't know the lore on this, but it seems that at least some vampires have an ability to gain control of another person and eventually make him/her a thrall. Remember the evil wench in Morthal got that guy to burn his family to death? And it always seems in every populated vampire den you end up killing NPCs that are labelled as Vampire Thralls.
I want to be prominent in saying your videos are very well done in terms of cinematography and general delivery your content, this echoes for every other video too, keep it up!
A Thieves Guild must have quest: As a vampire: Steal things from dawnguard castle without killing As a human: Steal things from volkihar castle without killing
The way ESO works is that expansions have a DLC. It's quite possible in the DLC for Greymoor we actually help found the Dawnguard. It wouldn't surprise me if that happens and would be rather cool to see be part of it.
I’ve got one for you that I haven’t seen replicated on the internet. You can marry Hroki in Markarth. Here’s how to do it: at night go to the inn/tavern she will be there sweeping, go next to her and drop something wearable like some clothing, armor, or jewelry. Then walk away and come back to her. She will sometimes approach you and begin dialogue with you. If she doesn’t then sometimes it will work if you begin the dialogue with her. She will say "Excuse me, I'm assuming that armor you got rid of wasn't an accident, but just in case, I wanted to make sure I can take it." Then you say “consider it yours” and she will be very pleased. Now either sleep or wait for the next day and go outside and find her. Now she will say “it’s a fine day with you around” when you are near her. Now you should be able to wear the Amulet Of Mara and when you speak to her you will have the option to propose. ;)

I actually belive that the reason why ESO doesn't have any references to the Dawnguard is because ESO takes place before the Dawnguard was formed.
Note: I don't know exactly in what point in 2E the Dawnguard was first formed, if there even is an known year/decade/century in wich they were formed
A minicounter to that would be that ESO still has books from all over different times, so a lack of any Dawnguard is still a bit interesting.
@@HzizsVynryn yeah, but there really isn't that many dawnguard books out there. Apart from the ones the came with the expansion there really isn't any other books.
You can get a fighters guild abillity that says something about having a crossbow from the dawnguard.
I really love how there's so many characters with last names that relate to important characters in other ElderScrolls games.
There is a skill from Fighter Guild tree call "Silver Bolt" that work well against daedra and undead for obvious reason: it was made by Dawnguard

The Dawnguard armour is honestly my favorite armour. Like they just looks so cool
I wonder if the secret regarding serena growing on the dawnguard, was also hinting at her passively using vampires seduction on the guild
Nah they trained against -simping- vampire seduction
if anyone is a simp in skyrim, it's isran.

#1: No sweet rolls have ever actually been stolen
@Jamie Last At least it ain't dragonborn, with the cheesy villain.
Ever since I first heard about the alternate history of the dawnguard I've always thought that they didn't do it for selfish reasons, at least not at first, I have a feeling that they turned themselves because they thought it would make hunting vampires that much easier (see the whole 'fighting fire with fire' concept) which makes sense in theory but they would have quickly been corrupted by not only the need to feed but also the very power that they sought to aid them
Awesome! The Dawnguard quest line is my favorite in the entire game, and I love the faction!
Thank you, Nate. I too am salty the Dawnguard weren't involved in the Greymoor expansion. I want to be hopeful something will come up, but that's all I can be, sadly.
12:21 hmmm I didn't taste anything
Not sure if it's new since this video, but I recently got into ESO, and they do mention the Dawnguard very briefly with the flavour text for the crossbow skill from the fighter's guild.
"No other Elder Scrolls game or app has references to the Dawnguard"
1. They don’t get to the cloud district very often
Hello Nazeem
Get out of here Nazeemo
Hey Nazeem, I thought I just killed you?!
Nazeem I already killed you in Whiterun
You should thank me because I helped you to reach the Cloud District
Last time I was this early, Cyrodiil was not the seat of an empire
You must be from the Merethic Era then.

I agree with you.
Yeah, Nate milks Skyrim to the max, yet he somehow is still incompetent with the game.
Actually, Now that I'm taking the full sentence into context, Serana was once a human, therefore she still must have some humanity left, otherwise she wouldn't be so nice to you.
@@LuisMartinez-gu5ii Do not exclusively equate humanity to compassion or social actions. Humanity is what humans do which just so happens to include social thinking and compassion at times.
@@shadowstrider5033 The word 'humanity' in this context comes with the connotations of compassion and benign social activities. Humanity does not simply mean the actions that human beings perform, it means actions that are exclusive to humans, such as compassion.

I think it's obvious why the Elder Scrolls community likes Serana so much LOL. She's literally the best NPC in the game.
And she's the best because of -tits- her personality.
And because shes voiced by Laura Bailey
**violins playing**🎼🎻Laura Bailey
I personally hate her and find her very anoying.
And being the best NPC in the game, by default of being added by a DLC where the devs had more experience and more time to work on her, isn't really saying much when you think about it.
Heck, she isn't even tolerable without mods. : P
Florentius is a member you forgot to mention. He (or Arkay) says they weren't so much a noble bunch as the story tells us, rather they were looting, stealing, raiding etc. And had all that stolen loot stashed in a cave in the fortress.
I'd be the member of Dawnguard that would say, "You didn't tell me the female Vampires would be this hot."

Actually, to me, that sword would make more sense for a vampire than for a hunter. Increased damage given and decreased damage taken when health is low? That's pretty good for someone who, idk, can't heal during the day...
Hey Nate, I doubt you'll see this since it's been two years but I've been watching your videos for a long time now and I love them. Just wondering what graphics mods you use to give it that clean, almost cartoony look? I still haven't quite figured it out 😆

well it is the end times.
Ulfric didn't want to kill all non nords. He wants a free skyrim is all. Plus if he hated all races then dunmer and argonians wouldnt be allowed in or near the city. Plus there's an altmer in the city too.
In the Grim darkness of the far future there is only war.
@@cerebralassassin2185 Dunmer are treated like trash. And the argonians are just slaves to the Nords since they don't like to unload their own ships. Hence why they hired argonians to do that.

This is the description:
"Fire a Dawnguard Vampire Hunter's crossbow bolt to strike the enemy."
I heard they’re reforming the dawngaurd, Vampire hunters or something, in the old fort near fifteen. Might consider joining up myself.
Do it already jfc
I think you overlooked the possibility that Serana was slowing charming Isran and the rest of the Dawnguard. I don't know the lore on this, but it seems that at least some vampires have an ability to gain control of another person and eventually make him/her a thrall. Remember the evil wench in Morthal got that guy to burn his family to death? And it always seems in every populated vampire den you end up killing NPCs that are labelled as Vampire Thralls.
As soon as I finish the dawnguard quest I turn into a vampire. I’m there undercover agent 🧛🏾♂️
Nice
Very true but luckily that’s where mods come in
I want to be prominent in saying your videos are very well done in terms of cinematography and general delivery your content, this echoes for every other video too, keep it up!
A Thieves Guild must have quest:
As a vampire: Steal things from dawnguard castle without killing
As a human: Steal things from volkihar castle without killing
Here’s a thing, both faction has that time where they wipe out each other, one major and one minor, so that mission would be quickly nulled
The way ESO works is that expansions have a DLC. It's quite possible in the DLC for Greymoor we actually help found the Dawnguard. It wouldn't surprise me if that happens and would be rather cool to see be part of it.
Nate’s back, guys!
What about Nate's back?

Now you should be able to wear the Amulet Of Mara and when you speak to her you will have the option to propose. ;)
