I asked where this land was and how I can get there only to be responded with some kind of digital currency and other pointless low quality items I had to buy. The figure told me we must feed the Todd Howard's ravaging hunger but the hunger seems endless requiring more and more to feed just to barely satiate him. His favorite sustenance is money/currency of any kind and the soals of children and hearts of broken men. The only way I could get him to leave was to buy yet another copy of Skyrim. I had a dream about this once, scared me so much I awoke in a panic... but that was nothing. I awoke in the middle of the woods tied up and riding a wagon with a different man looking right at me, he then said: "Hay you! You're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border right? Walked right into that imperial ambush, same as us and that thief over there."

I just realized: Astrid broke every one of those rules put in place. She dishonored the night mother by implying that she was useless and no longer needed. She betrayed the secrets of the dark brotherhood by arranging our murder with the imperials, she stole regularly from her fellow brothers and sisters to gain leverage, and she tried to kill us: the most terrible sin. Sithis was most likely shuddering with rage when she arrived
Well if you think about it, you also broke at least one of the five tenets during the DB questline. You are ordered to kill Cicero by Astrid after he went crazy and attacked the other sanctuary members. And as you stand before the jester you have two options: kill him or don't. You kill him, you break the fifth tenet. You don't kill him, you break the 3rd tenet because your superior Astrid ordered it and you refused. Personally I never killed Cicero because he desired to be the Listener. He just didn't have what the Night Mother desired and that knowledge broke him. And the spectral assassin you get as a reward during the questline also stated that Sithis didn't want Cicero dead so I felt confident that breaking the third tenet was worth it.
@@JCDFlex well actually if you kill Cicero rule 3 overules rule 5 however you will still annoy Sithis because Lucian Lenchance (the ghost assassin) says that Sithis does not want Cicero dead

And don't forget the nightshade! Always need a nightshade and death bells! Oh and don't forget that sweet ass wine! Think of your Dread Father as your unholy savior!

Later that night, a mysterious figure comes up to the door of your cell. The person says IF you either kill the guard that arrested you, or, everyone in the jail, your choice, because Sithis gets his required kill in return either way!
For those unaware, maven black briar has the black sacrament set up in her basement and a letter next to it that mentions how the black sacrament is BS and how it didn't work, and that she was immensely disappointed in Astrid for not appearing to accept her contract
Before the Dragonborn came around, there was no listener for the night mother to speak of whoever performed the black sacrament. Astrid said that they "eventually" receive word of the black sacrament. I think that in this case, Astrid didn't want to be seen as someone who can be easily used and be seen as inferior.
@@angelzaragoza9040I think they just genuinely didn't hear about that one. An orphan boy returning home to perform the Black Sacrament is going to be noticed, a rich lady sneaking all the supplies into her house and paying for silence, probably isn't.
I just finished the main story of Oblivion, became the gray fox, defeated Umaril. Then started the dark brotherhood questline for the first time. I've been experiencing Oblivion while listening to you guys so thanks for kinda being with me on this awesome journey.
DB Questline in Oblivion is amazing. Super well written, and the party is a really fun quest. Pay close attention to the narrative, and enjoy yourself!
Could you imagine what a great assassin Cicero could have trained the Adoring Fan to be? My god what a team they would have made, let us all be grateful that never came to be... Adoring Fan - "I can't believe it's you! Standing here! Next to me!" Cicero- "Ah He He He....Let's kill someone!"
I wonder if at some point we might get a Dark Brotherhood storyline where the interesting and caring characters we've got to know might actually survive?
I have a theory regarding the Brotherhood: In 2 separate games we have seen them nearly wiped out and I think there's a reason. In both Oblivion and Skyrim we see Brotherhoods where they are relishing in their kills and money. In fact the orc member in Oblivion talks with great glee about killing a child at their birthday party. I think this is perhaps a massive mark of hubris that Sithis and the Night Mother find makes members no longer worthy. They have lost sight of what they are doing and no longer treat it with the reverence that they should. As a result, they meet with punishment. In Oblivion the Night Mother explicitly says she could have warned them at any time of the traitor in their midst but chose to let them pay for their lack of awareness. In Skyrim Cicero, who clearly is not in his right mind, is chased off after his scuffle. It could be interpreted that the Night Mother, to whom it would seem he is fiercely loyal, was not happy with the reactions by Astrid and the others and thus failed to let anyone know what was happening. She might have had a way to intervene and let things play out once more to see who was still worthy. Out of all deities in the Elder Scrolls it is Sithis who is only spoken of by one group and the very mention brings fear to common people. It only serves that something that dark would also be vengeful to those it finds as unworthy.
It makes sense. Not a theory, I'm afraid, but a fact! I'm Todd Howard in a fake profile (just kidding). But, it does. It does make sense. I always perceived The Dread Father as strict as he appears to be, as well as The Night Mother, after seeing her in Oblivion. Both generations deserved to be punished, except for a few members. I didn't play Oblivion, due to not being controller supported (this changed). From what I've seen, Ocheeva seems to be a faithful follower of "The Dread Covenant", along with Valtieri. The other members are dull, at best. Concerning The Black Hand, there are only three known members, as far as I'm concerned. Lucien, obviously, is worthy, along with the girl that serves the Listener, and the traitor. In Skyrim, I don't need to say anything. A useless un-child, a sarcastic redguard, a fool leading, the orc's persona married to the fool, a blind follower of the fool, Gabriella, which is worthy, and Festus, another worthy member. If Skyrim was a serious game, everyone would be dead, if not for Festus and Gabriella. Festus is wise, he follows The Old Ways, Gabriella too. Upon learning the fact that you're the Listener, Cicero, Gabriella and Festus, with Veezara being able to be convinced, would turn on Astrid and begin a Purification. I don't have anything against Nazir, but, as you brilliantly described in your theory, I don't believe that he takes the business seriously enough, and Babette is useless, so...
If I was the one rewritting the Dark Brotherhood's history, first and foremost, no kidnapping. Astrid would only be able to kidnap you under a certain level of skill. If she tried after reaching that level, a battle would be engaged, with the oprion to kill or to spare her, wounding her pride and further dooming her to the wrath of Sithis. This would be the "With Friends Like These". The Dovahkiin would act like: "I'm interested to see where this will go" and follow the "superiors" orders, for a while, until becoming the Listener. After following the Night Mother's order, because nobody cares about Astrid, you would return to the Sanctuary, make an announcement, everybody would think you're crazy, except for Gabriella, Festus and Cicero, and you would be expelled by Astrid, for disobedience, along with Cicero. Gabriella and Festus believe you, but, decided not to act, yet. A week later, you would be contacted by Olafa/Olava (I don't know), telling you that Gabriella wants to meet somewhere. You would accept, Festus would be there too, and Cicero would be following you, since you're the Listener. Lucien would be sent by Sithis, or The Night Mother would speak, which makes more sense, ordering a Purification. But, for Gabriella and Festus' truly recognizing you as the Listener, Lucien would be sent and authorize us to purify the Sanctuary. The fun starts here. The Sanctuary would be invaded, a Purification would take place, heads of imperial officers would roll, Vici would still be killed on her marriage, with the only difference being every Solitude citizen attending the ceremony, and the Emperor part, at last. He would be at the Blue Palace or where the High King uses to be, with enough imperial guards to make the 360's memory fry, hosting a party to the "nobility". Thalmor trash, corrupt trash like Maven, coward insignificant Jarls, everyone with a contract on its head, according to Montierre. This would have been EPIC. The glory of The Dark Brotherhood would have been restored, new recruits would come from everywhere, and a new Sanctuary would be required, so, Delvin would make the arrengements, Cheidinhall style, but better, more "castellic" like.
Why they haven't done this is beyond me. Bethesda is a powerful studio, as far as I know. Maybe not as powerful as Capcom, but closer. I've seen games taking full advantage of the seventh generation, like Dragon's Dogma. Skyrim lacked enough time or money to be developed, or effort, most likely. Voice actors shouldn't be making the same voice for who knows how much NPC's, along with countless bugs, glitches, and underdeveloped elements. In the cosmetics aspect, the original Skyrim is almost unplayable. Everyone is ugly, but the women, by Sithis...
@@Ascharielgoddamn, i would pay good money to see all of that in some mod or something. you thought up a far better "ending" than actually exists in the game, if only i could play it now. lol

A thing that bothers me about the Dark Brotherhood is the ritual is that you need a human heart. Someone had to die for you to get that heart. Clearly you already have the means to murder someone without the Dark Brotherhood
There are a lot of admittedly random aspects of the Brotherhood that attract me to it so strongly, one of them being the Black Sacrament. I imagine a man wronged by his people. He dreads leaving his home for he must bear the sight of his wife in the arms of another man, a boastful and mead-obsessed Nord who stole her from him. He rallies the city to make fun of him and they laugh at him as he dives back into his home. He knows what he must do. He finds an adventurer rushing through town in assorted gear and, stifling a chuckle, runs up to him and asks to trade with him. He buys all of the junk this adventurer was carrying and, sure enough, this included human bits and pieces (among other things that are somehow more questionable), a Nightshade flower, and a worn dagger. Later that night, he performs the Black Sacrament, full of rage and sorrow. He clenches his teeth, growling and slightly whimpering simultaneously, thinking of how his life has been ruined by this man. He rubs the dagger against the Deathbell's petals, then starts stabbing the effigy he has made, grunting with each thrust, tears accumulating under his eyes. Pitifully, as his whole body trembles, he says "Sweet Mother, sweet Mother, send your child unto me..." The tears are becoming more frequent. He continues louder and more desperate, "... for the sins of the unworthy..." He is angrier now. "... must be baptized... in *blood...* and *fear.*" Everybody has shunned this poor child, everybody has left him. But the Night Mother hears him. She makes sure his pleas are known. She relays the task to her Listener, who sets up the contract, and one of her children takes matters into his hands. As swiftly as the man made his decision, the assassin murders the Nord in the dead of night. The next day, the wronged child hears the news. He acts sad (for no true reason, as none pay attention to him), but on the inside, he is full of a type of glee, a rush. He sees the body of his greatest foe, his bloody handprint staining the ground. This already felt so good to know of. Imagine how good it would feel to be the one holding the Blade. He knows what he must do. He seeks out a woman who had been more of a nuisance than most of the city and, in broad daylight, shoves a dagger in her back, showing no remorse nor fear. Only a sadistic joy. He quickly slips away before anyone can even think of chasing him. Later in the day, a courier makes it to his hideout by some miracle. The courier gives the man a note and orders from the sender on where to go. The man looks at the note, only to find it has no words. Just a bloody handprint. He grins menacingly, and prepares to turn his life around. *Hail Sithis.*

bradford brevard if it was up to me each of the Dark Brotherhood’s little sanctuary’s would be burned and every follower of their little god Sithis would be marked as abominations. It’s the Brotherhoods job to both gather technology and destroy abominations in the world
6:41 in my eyes the only reason the brotherhood charge gold for a contract is because they still need to eat and drink and maintain the sanctuary’s/churches otherwise they would chose who to kill based on what would make the most chaos for example assassinating a monarch is all well and good but why settle for a king who is bloodthirsty when if you kill his advisors who are keeping him under control would allow him to pursue his whims that would please sithis more or what about removing a beggar who is not only a lookout for the thieves guild but also a priest of nocturnal this is the true manifestation for chaos as all those souls would have peace in the void’s embrace but that’s just what I think is sithis true role and how the brotherhood should be operating atleast on the side like the thieves guild has jobs and people who pay for their skills they also have their own desires for heists and will act independently
people of Tamriel:"thanks to our hard work and just rule of our leaders we live in peace and harmony with each other, we could say we are ha..." Sithis:"hold my cup of sacrificial blood..."
I've had to have done the DB questline in Skyrim at least 2 dozen times by now. It is easily my favorite questline in the game, and I hope they have it in the next game as well. Despite having 130 mods in my load order and running perfectly well, I can't run Oblivion with them otherwise I'd probably fall in love with that as well. I know the story, but never experienced it for myself.
She was real in Morrowind too. It was like there were several Night Mothers. Though in Morrowind I killed so Many Dark Brotherhood Assassins it became silly.
Would be nice to find a video explaining the questline in Skyrim for the Dark Brotherhood... it seems I missed something by going through the main quest and not talking to anyone after the initial things when getting there because the character motivations don't make a whole lot of sense...
For people who don’t get it morag tong is basically the same thing as dark brotherhood with few differences like morag tong gets permission to kill while dark brother hood doesn’t
I think that dark brotherhood is a straight representation of a natural order, it's not about slaughterers anymore. There are definitely npcs that deserve a punishment like Grelod the Kind, Penitus oculatius agents, greedy capitalists and emperor. However, when it comes to justice, there's injustice, that's why dark brotherhood considered to be evil. If we didn't suppose to kill beggars and poor workers, it would probably be one of the best choices for moral characters. But it's not evil again, it's a natural order. So, remember Morrowind, why can't you join dark brotherhood? That's because there was no natural order, because dead stays dead, "reapers" come to transfer tour soul to new world if it's not your place, Nerevarine ressurected, but he should be dead, so DB hunts him. And you should remember that Sithis is nor aedra non daedra, he's from the family of first world creators, so he's one of the rulers. He's god, but gods don't only come as supernatural people or animals like Sanguine or deer Hircine. They might come as natural disasters or consequences. So, Sithis might come as consequences, urging people to die for reason to save the balance on Nirn, punish bad guys and clean the dirt. Of course, I'm against the natural order, cuz it f__ng s__ks. So, it's not just a Sithis, it's about 70% gods of Aurbis. So, the moral choice is not to join dark brotherhood or destroy it. The right direction is to remove the natural order from the world.
Thinking of the night mother as Mephala, might explain the decline of the dark brotherhood, just as explaining it's rise. Mephala doesn't need it anymore, it might still be a useful tool that she isn't likely to completely discard, but she doesn't need to replace Vivec anymore. The Morag Tong may be a more stable organization with its roots in dunmer culture, and with her worship being renewed there she could shift her focus on to that organization, one that exalts her name. So she may be seeking to expand the Morag Tong while all but abandoning the dark brotherhood.
You had me at “build an effigy of Todd Howard out of hundreds of copies of Skyrim on various platforms” I died I clicked like And now i shall spread the word And then i will try when Skyrim goes on sale
If and when the Last Dragonborn dies, who gets dibs? If the Last Dragonborn is the Champion of every Daedric Prince in Oblivion, the Listener of the Dark Brotherhood, a vampire or a werewolf (if they didn't cure themselves), the fight over the soul of the Last Dragonborn would be interesting to see! Oh, would Akatosh have a say too, because of being Dragonborn? I think they should get a choice on which realm they want to go to, maybe the Daedric Prince who the Dovahkin was most loyal to! If it was me, I would choose to go to the Shivering Isles, the home of the Daedric Prince of Madness, Sheogorath!
Ive been pondering this question. I know you've technically answered this with your worth it series, but ive veen thinking, what would happen if you were approached by one of the nine divines and he/she offered to transport your soul to the realm of mundus. You can bring only one other person with you. And you forget everything and everyone else besides the one you decide to bring upon entering mundus. You are aware of your position, and you can choose anylook, any race, and any gender. And you customize your look. If you don't choose a beast race (orc or kajiit or argonian) the default look starts out as your normal look. And the creation is much more in depth, meaning, you can choose buffness, skinnyness, fatness, and everything else in between. After you choose your look, you enter a room, and in the room is your friend whom you've chosen to bring with you. At this point you have the option to turn back and return to normal earth. If you do so, you will have no memory of anything that just happened, and you carry on with your life. Same goes for your friend. If you choose to go forward, entering the realm of mundus and appering on nirn, you have no memory of your past life in anyway. Upon going forward you enter a new room. In this room, you choose your skills, attributes, and well, it's pretty much like a much more in depth class creation. Once that's chosen, you choose one of 100 differnt backstories for you and your friend. (Just to be clear, its 100 backstories each) each one has some reason that connects you and your friend together. Whether you 2 are siblings, great friends, spouses (if you both choose) or not connected at all. Once chosen you get transported to the realm of mundus. Your new life shall begin. My question is, who do you bring, what race do you choose, what backstory, and what skills and attributes do you choose. You and your friend pretty much have unlimited lifes and when you die, you start over again. The only way you can start over is when both of you die, if only one if you dies, the dead one "spectators" the other until they die as well.
One day when we are all old a gray there will be an Elder Scrolls game that has dynamically generated complex quests with choice affecting the world, the entirety of Nirn and it will just work.
I was just thinking back on how a Dark Brotherhood Dragonborn would go about solving the civil war crisis, and realised that it goes all the way back to Cicero's journals, on whether the group should focus on either expansion or consolidation. Obviiusly, you would seek vengeance on the Empire for attacking and killing your fellow Brothers and Sister, and would side with stormcloak. Whether or not you decide to ask Ulfric to garner active aproach in assisting the Dunmer and Argonians in Windhelm, with the Stormcloak victory you will be put to the highest regard by the soon to be High King, using your own influence to strengthen the Brotherhood's hold in Skyrim and earning back the fear and respect it lacked for centuries, alongside having a part in the murder of the Emperor since Pelagius. If you swallow your pride and side withthe Empire, you can use your ties with them to negotiate several businesses, in reality Dark Brotherhood disguises, as well as assistance in the preparation of war for the Thalmor. As the Empire build up their ranks, the Dark Brotherhood would go on, gaining more and more ground in contracts and eventually reestablishing atleast the Bruma Sanctuary, and eventually retaking Cheydinhal, so on until the Empire is finally ready to push back the Thalmor TL;DR Expand using the Empire, Grow Stronger using Ulfric
Let's assume the dragonborn do every guild. I believe they would join the imperials because they know another war with the high elves is going to happen. The stormcloaks aren't strong enough to March all across the world they won't make it past cyrodiil. Let alone to Summerset. The imperials would be the best bet with hammerfell
Hey love your lore videos (pretty sure I’ve watched them all) keep it up! What I would love and think others could gain from is breakdown videos of quest lines. I’ve Only played from Morrison’s up so a break down of quest lines and story’s of the older games. Or refreshers if what’s happened in Morrowind the different houses quest lines or Morag tongue. Or what’s happened in ESO or blades.. anywho would love that.
I guess the hero of Kvatch is the strogest assassins ever? Cause he is a listener and he will become a deadric Prinz so... Maybe he is even stronger than the night mother but not sure
My guess theyll be in 6 because hammerfell is just brimming for assinassins and killers alike plus the robes fit the whole sandy/ Egyptian vibe hammerfell is inspired by.
Also, Lorkhan/Shor (depends on who you listen to), was birthed by Sithis to destroy the universe, because he was PISSED at the Aedra, for the sham and lies when the Divines created Mundus, made it more stable either by being tricked, or by choice! So, if the Last Dragonborn is the Shezzarine, it could have even bigger implications!
Always thought it was weird how you have to kill someone to shmmon them to kill someone like yeah you could use an already dead bisy but i see that as unlikely

Madness is the gift, Sheo's given to me
I wonder if at some point we might get a Dark Brotherhood storyline where the interesting and caring characters we've got to know might actually survive?
you know... you have a point.
I have a theory regarding the Brotherhood:
In 2 separate games we have seen them nearly wiped out and I think there's a reason.

Or rob a gravesite
Human hearts are an alchemical ingredient. It's like if the ritual said "grab some Tylenol and stab some bones."
"... must be baptized... in *blood...* and *fear.*"
Everybody has shunned this poor child, everybody has left him.

Abomination wouldn’t be the word to use here lmao
bradford brevard if it was up to me each of the Dark Brotherhood’s little sanctuary’s would be burned and every follower of their little god Sithis would be marked as abominations.

*saves the instructions from A Video, Sweet Fudgemuppet*
Thinking of the night mother as Mephala, might explain the decline of the dark brotherhood, just as explaining it's rise. Mephala doesn't need it anymore, it might still be a useful tool that she isn't likely to completely discard, but she doesn't need to replace Vivec anymore. The Morag Tong may be a more stable organization with its roots in dunmer culture, and with her worship being renewed there she could shift her focus on to that organization, one that exalts her name. So she may be seeking to expand the Morag Tong while all but abandoning the dark brotherhood.
The Dark Brotherhood were at their best in Oblivion. The DB in Skyrim were a shadow of their former self due to Astrid's own ego.

The only way you can start over is when both of you die, if only one if you dies, the dead one "spectators" the other until they die as well.
alien dick fingers orcs are not a beast race. they are elves.
Enjoyed that video. Very thorough
As the Empire build up their ranks, the Dark Brotherhood would go on, gaining more and more ground in contracts and eventually reestablishing atleast the Bruma Sanctuary, and eventually retaking Cheydinhal, so on until the Empire is finally ready to push back the Thalmor
TL;DR Expand using the Empire, Grow Stronger using Ulfric
Let's assume the dragonborn do every guild. I believe they would join the imperials because they know another war with the high elves is going to happen. The stormcloaks aren't strong enough to March all across the world they won't make it past cyrodiil. Let alone to Summerset. The imperials would be the best bet with hammerfell

I have a theory the night mother children, are some of the daedra , nocturnal , Azura , shor
