20.2.2024 And thats a wrap. I've now sold this house. You can see the outgoing video here if you like...... ua-cam.com/video/Jc3vWcSlj8A/v-deo.html
Warmth and history emanate from every room of this house and love the squeaky floorboards. So nice to see an old house that hasn't had its guts ripped out and painted grey.
I couldn’t agree more.
You’re right it’s not painted gray…….. it’s painted brown tan and beige.
Agree!
Yes, what is it with grey at the moment, the most drab flat colour 😶
@@sallyanneotton4348 as an agent dealing with lots of interesting spaces, it’s been refreshing to see more people going bold with colours. I think grey might be on the way out.
This is beautiful. The fact that whomever owns it respected the history of this home and didn’t make it “modern”, absolutely was a brilliant move. It looks so much better.
Thank you, exactly the look the owner wanted.
"whoever," not "whomever," please
Agree, it’s beautiful
@@cbwilson2398 ☹
@@cbwilson2398 thank you word police.
If you are the type of person who has a great imagination and decorating comes naturally this could be turned into a really warm and inviting home. I wish I had those skills. Thanks for the tour.
I totally agree! thanks for the coment
If you could afford the house, you can afford a decorator.
Such a Wonder to behold, now I want to see all the Neighbor's homes! The one across the street has a Garden on the street-side balcony!
Thank you - I've been in the US for many years now, but before we moved over here we owned an end terrace Georgian in Stoke Newington with lots of gorgeous paneling like this one. I often reminisce about that house - basement level kitchen with coal holes just like this too & an old huge fireplace with ironwork fittings ! That area & that Georgian house were very 'posh' in their day, our home was built in 1720, not particularly 'favored' when we lived there - but now 35+ years later I understand it has again 'boomed' & I hope that house is still being appreciated for it's historic value ! Miss you Stoke Newington Church St & that Red Lion pub ! I always enjoyed discovering the history of that area during the 3 years we lived there ! Not so long ago houses like this were considered too 'scruffy' to keep, and many rows got torn down, I think we have all learned to love them now & that is not happening so much!
Gosh, I love every inch! I am a descendant of Pilgrims, still living 20 miles from Plymouth rock, love this house😊❤
Thank you. Isn't it lovley to see something left as un-touched as possible.
It is because it is a Memory within you! :) Cellular Memory is very strong in a Family Line! Such a Blessing!
Love the heritage colours, and the simplicity.
Thank you. I'm hoping to get a follow up video on this house next week. I've sold it and i get to explore it when it's empty. Best wishes, Simon
Thank you for showing us around a beautiful historic home 🏡
Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing story house❤
if I was a person of means I’d buy that in a skinny minute. Incredibly atmospheric.
Thank you. Glad you liked it. Who knows, one day......
magnificient house!
Thank you
BEAUTIFUL ❤️ .
Magnificent!! Wow!
Many thanks!
Just Lovely…..❤❤❤
Looks like a perfect place to film a Harry Potter film! Maybe the backstory of where Hermoine’s parents lived
You never know!! 😊
What a beautiful house, reminds me of Merchants House in NYC 😊
Thank you 🙏
@@simonatuniquepropertycompany I’m in London in October, going to check out this are 👍🏻
@@DianeWyatt-j4x have a great time. If you like this sort of thing, you must visit dennissevershouse.co.uk
It’s literally just round the corner. You’ll love it.
The floors need some moisture and varnish finish to protect them.
I think the new owners have some lovely restorative plans for it. Thanks for watching
Love the history and warmth of it but all that clutter needs chucked out , nicer furniture and a few rugs and some paint. Really disgusting having all the street rubbish dropping down through that grate - that needs some glass or something put under the grate .
Excellent
The weavers loft would make a great artist's studio. I don't care for the rest of the house, but that loft is light and airy
Absolutely, I guess it was a "creative space" back then and still relevant today.
Lots of Huguenots came to Charleston South Carolina in 17th C
I would love to know the name of the paint color on the wall of the first floor sitting room! Sort of off white, grey, greenish. Beautiful. I bet it looks different as the light changes, if you know what I mean.
Yes it does. Thanks for your feedback. The colours aren’t actually an off the shelf selection. They were created specially using colour palettes of the era.
Cool
I wonder if you bought 2 side by side if Planning would let you let you combine them and update the floor plan?
It’s listed so might be tricky but there are some larger double fronted houses in the surrounding streets
After watching this video, I made sure my home didn’t looked disorganized as this. Other then that the home has its carácter.
Interesting take on a video helping! I like it. Thank you
wow what kind of commercial level stove/oven doesn't need an overhead vent?
Haunted! Don’t think anyone with 4m will appreciate it. Why don’t you contact Mr Depp? Wish I was in the position to make a bid.
good idea.
Wonderful! This home should be passed on to new owners who would cherish it as is. It’s certainly NOT to be architected & morphed into some modern style.
So much grey in the interior paint which is very trendy now. Would that be true to what the original paint would have been?
yes its pretty close.
👍
So beautiful but I would loose the children in there!
I could leave my kids up on the top floor and enjoy the rest of the house with my wife so not all bad 😊
Wow how much is it please? X
Hi there. It’s a guide of £4 Million
I would hate to have lived or live in a house like this. It's not a home it's a museum. To me it is dull and boring. And I would always think of it as a sweat shop. Do love the Vista of roofs but would like a balcony to sit out on.
😘😘😘😘😘
O ok
Used to work on Brick Lane & it was so sad so many of these types of houses being converted & modernised to point of soulless so glad to see a building been honoured such a dream home & beautifully kept.
Absolutely. Hope it brought back some good memories for you. Thanks for your comments.
How refreshing to see an authentic Georgian townhouse "dans son jus"! Oozing character and charm - so unlike the modern renovations that strip everything away. Thanks for this tour.
appreciate the comment. It's perefct, right down to the squeeky floor boards...
P E R F E C T I O N ! I have never been a money oriented person, it doesn't control my life choices (it sometimes should) and I generally have little respect for fortunes and those who have them BUT suddenly I would like to be rich enough to live in this incredible house that looks exactly like a home I would have chosen and curated! Thank you for allowing me in for a little time.
That’s so nice of you to say. It definitely has that feeling. Laid back and sophisticated but not showy.
The way the owners listened to the house and responded with respectful sensitivity is to be applauded. The use of natural materials and timeless colours seem to straddle so many eras. The walls literally whisper with history and I love it.
Thank you for showing us this magnificent house.
Absolutely! If only walls and floors could talk. Thank you for watching
I am besotted, speechless, infatuated. Never wanted to own a home til this moment. Light years out of my reach, and I'm ready to cry, but this vid has given me great enjoyment. May its owners cherish it.
Lovely comments thank you very much 🙏
Stunning , respecting history 100% but yet so contemporary. Clever and incredible .
Many thanks! Its a pleasure walking round this incredble home
My partner’s ancestors were Spitalfields Silk Weavers, this is wonderful to imagine the space they would have lived and worked with their big families. The Owner did a great job, keeping so many authentic fixtures and fittings along with adding sympathetic wall colours.
Took my breath away. Thank you so much and to the owner for sharing his beautiful home with us.
Glad you enjoyed it
What an amazing space! If only I could afford it I would snap it up in a heart beat. A piece of history that works well for modern day living in a great location. So much natural Beauty and character with no pretence. I have to say this is probably one of my favourites. But then again I say that about most of the properties you show 😊 Thanks Simon
Thank you for the feedback and I'm delighted you enjoyed the tour. More to come......Thansk for sticking iwth the channel
Thank you for the amazing tour and a bit of a background history on this place! The house is incredible
Thank you. I’m delighted you enjoyed the tour.
Love the history and architecture, but sorry I don’t like it!….
Starting to think I was the only one that didn’t like to appreciate the history of it but not for me.
And that’s cool. It won’t be to everyone’s liking. Thanks for watching though.
Over 300 years old, it's spectacular! I love it! I could cry when I see the soul of an old home destroyed to "update" it. This one is almost untouched. It's a treasure! I'm in Canada and very few houses remain that were built prior to 1800. Saint John, New Brunswick does have a few but a huge fire in 1877 destroyed most. Our house is 100+ years old with original floors, windows, woodwork, and fireplace. I love our creaky floors, treadworn stairs, and wavy bubbled window glass. It's old for Canada but would be considered almost brand new over there! Thank you for the tour.
Thanks for you comments. Your home sounds fab. Simon
A lovely home with loads of character! I am glad that they kept the character to this 303 year old home. Older homes have so much beauty of the past and creative design. Thank you.
Many thanks 🙏 appreciate the feedback
I can imagine it in the 1700s, with looms in the loft, silks for sale in the ground floor, designs tacked in a workroom, and someone cooking in the basement.
I also have Huguenot ancestry, but they skipped England and went to Ireland for a couple of years and then to the colonies.
It’s a little piece of history. Thanks for your words.
very interesting for me as my family descends from Huguenots in Spitalfields
Very cool! Thank you for the comment. If you're interested in finding out more, you musy visit this place, dennissevershouse.co.uk/ it's even more historic that this house!
Love seeing that some of the house is "raw" and the rest is exquisite. Reminds me of the row houses in Savannah, GA USA. I am past negotiating the stairs, but really enjoyed this presentation.
Really appreciate your comments. Thank you.
Wow. Stunning home. You can feel the history of this beautiful townhome
Thank you. it's been lovely seeing how so many people here appreciate the warmth of this historic home. Glad you liked the tour
Thanks for sharing Simon, absolutely gorgeous. Would love to buy this house as my Nanna came from the East End, will have to get a paper round now 😂😂
Go for it! Hope to be selling you a home in East London some time soon!
Enchanting!!! I appreciate the wonky stairs and the sound of footsteps on the original floors.
Honestly one of the most atmospheric homes I've been in for some time. Thansk for the feedback
So interesting and a beautiful house tastefully curated by the owner. Thank you
It's attractive & tastefully decorated but romantic- no.
Those creaking floorboards would quickly become annoying.
Fair enough. Thanks for taking the time to watch though
Its stunning 😍. I think it could do with a little TLC, its very shabby chick but nothing a lick of paint, some oil on the floor boards, and a few pictures on the wall wouldn't fix. I hope and pray the next owner respects the history, too many people just rip everything out and turn it into a white box 😢. Love your channel, just subbed. The audio could do with fixing tho, i found you hard to hear sometimes
The sound isn’t very good. The volume keeps going up and down.
My favorite. The paint colors are exquisite.
Too much talk in front of the camera. Point the camera at the house and add the commentery. The video, suppsedly is about the house.
Noted. I’m still quite new to this so still finding my groove. Will try harder
WHAT IS IT with realtors, that they are totally okay with filming bathrooms that have toilets with the LIDS UP? LOL! Good grief.
@starboard As a realtor it’s absolutely my pet peeve. I do not allow it when shooting pics or when I’m showing a home. Drives me nuts!
Must try harder. This isn’t my full time job, I’m trying to run my business as well. One day I’ll be able to dedicate my entire day to filing one house at a time
Classic creaky floorboards…
If the convex mirror is for sale, please let me know! :)
Hello, thaks for watching. The owner has asked if anyone is interested in any items, please contact him through his instagram account its called @princeletdrift
Best
Simon
Watching from USA. My ancestors were Huguenot refugees. That Georgian house is lovely.
Hello from London, thanks for your comments. Glad you liked the tour.
The layout and features (esp. in the kitchen) are almost identical to Dennis Severs' House, which by the looks of things, must be very close to this property indeed, perhaps even neighbours. Highly recommend a visit to anyone who loves history, esp. at Christmas time, when they do candlelit tours. This house is its twin!
Absolutely spot on, you clearly know the area. So pleased you like this house. You might be interested to learn that the other house in Princelet Street which was recently used for the, Christo exhibition was owned by the person who owns this house. The style in number 4 Princelet was all his doing.... All the best, Simon
I would love to know the color and manufacturer of the paint used on these walls. On my screen, it looks sort of like a bone color. Beautiful color.
This was the comment from from the owner from a similar question. Hope it helps. “The colours are all hand mixed linseed oil paints sampled from existing found examples from similar period properties”
Best wishes
Simon
Lovely..but I’d get the creeps at night….
Thanks for showing this very beautiful home. A warm sophisticated vibe is definately felt.
Thank you for you kind feedback, Linda. Simon
Reminds me of the Dennis Severs’ house!
You're so right. Funnily enough we're having a team out to re-vist Dennis Severs house. That place is incredible as well.
I love the history and atmosphere and most of the paint colours (feels of the period yet modern). Seems like more of a museum or shoot location, though, than liveable as a home. Lovely drawing room but otherwise the reception rooms are mostly tables, cabinets and objects rather than comfortable and practical. How is it heated? I don't think I saw any radiators. Did you know your volume is very low compared with other videos I'm watching? I can hear you if I whack it up to 100 but then the adverts blare out! Great tour and I like that it was slow enough for us to properly look.
There is some ducted underfloor heating, the grills were shown in one room, some of the fire places had been laid, i suspect the heating won’t be adequate but being mid terrace you get the benefit and shelter of adjacent properties.
@@john_smith1471 that’s right and with three usable open fires I can assure you it doesn’t feel cold.
A QUESTION regarding items. First thank you for this beautiful tour…I really enjoyed.
How are we to go about pointing out items that we might be interested in?
Hello there, thank you for the feedback. If you email me directly, simon.stone@uniquepropertycompany.co.uk I'll take care of it.
When i was young and used to go to London every year on holidays from South America, there where noble areas and popular ones. It seems to me now, due to difficulty of finding a place to live, that you can live everywhere with a sense of ellegance. Is Brixton still a "dangerous" area or a highclass district now?
Thanks for your comments. This place is on the East side of London and along with Brixton, far more gentrified than its was 30 years ago.
Such a lovely house, full of history! I only have to save up 3.999.000 pounds, and it can be mine! :-)
Fingers crossed for you. 😊
I thought the same, you’re so sweet Simon
@@maribelgarcia3606 thank you 😊 that’s kind.
Love this authentic, historical home. Just love it🥰
An absolute dream of a house in a fantastic area, will be a lucky (wealthy) family that gets to live here.
Fascinating property but wouldn’t be for me. Should be bought by a film company to ensure it remains as authentic as it currently is. I couldn’t imagine any modern day family would buy this as it remains in a time warp and would cost a fortune to renovate. It
you'd be surprised. There are quite a few families with older kids who'd take this on. Thansk for watching.
If you could be so kind to turn up your speaker and more camera lighting.
NICE OLD HOME.
Thank you for the feedback. I've invested in new equipment so hopefully the sound will be better from now on..
What a gorgeous place! My dream house love the history. I'm a Hugenot, at least my ancestors were.
That’s lovely to hear. Thank you for your comments.
If the floors could talk? I think they are talking plenty. Squeak, squeak, squeak. Lol
😂😂 yes indeed.
Neatly skipping over all the council tennants who got evicted with the promise of getting better flats in the area but got dispersed from their communities and scattered into Essex!
"A reassuring clunk". Tell us you're an estate agent without telling us you're an estate agent... 🙂
hahahah very well observed. Although I do try my best to not sound like a typical agent, but after thirty years the odd thing slips through the net. Thanks for watching, All the best, Simon
I have the soul of an English person😂😂. I love the entire home!! I can see the history from the kitchen table. I'd love ❤ to purchase the home
This is one of the most beautiful, ethereal homes I have ever seen,,,if I had 4 million it would be mine. x
Well, I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Thank you so much for the feedback
These streets, these houses are absolutely stunning and I love the way this house has been renovated, creaks and all.
Thank you for the comment. Glad you like it 😊
I grew up in Hanbury Street in the fifties...as a child I remember the beautiful windows of the old silk weavers houses...
I’d love to hear more about this area from those days. I’ve worked there since the late 90’s and it’s changed unbelievably since then. Goodness knows how it’s changed since the 50’s.
OMG, that drain above the door. Spiders, mice, rats, dirt, water No thanks
It does need a sweep up yes
OMG, that Door could wake the Dead...I am listening in early this morning! LOL
What a wonderful challenge for an Interior Designer and an Architect. What a magnificent property. The best to whoever developes this historic property.
Hopefully not too over developed though. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. 👍
needs heavy renovations and a complete makeover lol
Lovely but where do you sit in comfort to me it seems cold and uncomfortable
I’ve been there in winter with the open fires roaring away. I can assure you it’s not cold. And you can always change the furniture. Thanks for your thoughts and taking the time to watch
If the current and future owner agrees, please leave this video up? Otherwise please get them to agree for you to give a copy to Museum of London?
I'll do my best! Thank you
What a lovely home. It would have been wonderful to have been able to see it truly adequately decorated.
Thank you this home was certainly beautiful in every way❤!
Than you for the lovely feedback. Simon
An absolute gem and dream of a house. Thank you.
My pleasure. Thank you.
Forgive me but it is far from exquisitely finished. Beautiful house, however the loft is a mess, the main bedroom lack of warmth , no art, no lamps, not so nice curtains, bed needs to be made. Main bathroom has a gorgeous bathtub but overall the whole room is missing something. Garden a bit messy.
Sorry felt i had to comment, but great house, like all historic town houses in Spitalfields and Shoreditch.
You know it’s absolutely fine to not be enamoured with something, everyone has their own tastes. I totally understand what you’re saying. Me personally i love the historic, unkempt atmosphere of the place but moreover, I really appreciate the way you’ve described how you feel rather than just be rude. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. Happy new year, Simon.
@@simonatuniquepropertycompany oh absolutely agreed. Im sorry :/ but as i was watching i kept commenting in my head lol. I automatically thought about Batty Langley or even Redchurch townhouse, dont know if u saw the rooms and bathroom.. anyway i just love interiors cant help it :)
But those streets in Spitalfields are full of charms, the lamppost, the steam coming out from lower ground heating and kitchen.. i always walk through and its always intriguing to imagine these houses inside, so thanks for the tour. I also love the wooden floor and the original panels and all.
@@simonatuniquepropertycompany and thank you, Happy New Year 😊
I apologize. My phone lighting was low.love this home
Ahh ok. Thanks 🙏
This place is so charming it's painful 🙃
Thank you. Glad you like it!
Amazing! Thank you so much for the tour.
Glad you enjoyed it!
French Protestants aka Huguenots left France after Louis XIV revoked the Edict of Nantes, in 1685. This put an end to religious toleration.
1685 is the end of the 17th century, NOT the 16th.
The Edict of Nantes became law under Henri IV in 1598. THAT was the 16th century.
