I love seeing rich people’s houses when they actually look like homes, like this one, and not hotels. I liked the unfinished, scuffed floors and the practicality of the spaces in the house. You can tell the money went to covering the walls with beautiful things and things that had sentimental value.
It is a delight to see a house with beautiful paintings in it. I watch nothing but shows about houses (designing, renovating, building, moving into or out of, dreaming of, buying, selling, re-doing, organising, painting, etc. etc.) and I despair of this period of time when, IT SEEMS to me, that NO ONE is interested in Art anymore. So... to see THIS HOUSE, with one of its inhabitants expressing such a love of portraiture .... Ah!!! HEAVEN!! THANK YOU, thank you, Thank You!!! My faith is restored.
It was super touching to see that you had Duffy Ayers painting in the house. I think that says a lot about your character and how much you care about Art.

This is why there is always this sense of helpless romanticism in all of Erdem's designs. It is so visible here in the way how he chooses his objects of affection.
Georgian houses have great volume and proportions which modern houses lack. The interiors of Georgian houses are clean and spare that align with most modernist architects' aesthetics.
I love houses with special, older objects. It’s like your own little museum but I like that his house isn’t too cluttered (people who like these type of objects tend to over-consume, I know i do). If I had this type of house and $ like him I can only dream of all the things I would collect and how I would decorate. He did so well. Erdem has such a calming, humble energy. Lovely video. Ps. I love his comment on the graveyard and how it doesn’t ‘scare’ him to live nearby one.

What a lovely house that's definitely full of unique items but also feels "lived-in". I definitely think the coffee alarm clock is one of the most fascinating things i have ever seen, would love one for myself as well! Erdem is not only a fantastic fashion designer but interior designer as well haha
@@minigiant8998 I don't think any of them is precious or of great value - besides there is a big window that you can let fresh air in. I am more concerned about the shower stall not having a glass door or curtain (at least I didn't see it) - the water will splash on the wooden floor.
i love this, it's more or less a normal apartment, though obviously very nice and well considered. it doesn't feel like this big high-concept thing. he has a photo album with pictures of relatives. perfectly normal.
wow - definitely love love love architect and designer's house more than normal celebrities!! Utterly enjoyed stories behind each object and amazing house!!!
This has to be the best interior I have ever seen. It is full to the brim with interesting objects, however spacious and uncluttered. Love the lack of stair carpet and the odd splash of bright colours.
always really interesting to see other peoples houses (particularly when there resources allow them to do exactly what they want)…and the judge them for their choices quietly, but harshly hehe
Wonderful interview with the talented designer Erdem. As an aside, I am very disappointed to discover that Rad Hourani, the incredibly talented and original Canadian fashion designer/artist has stopped designing collections and is now focused on creating art installations!
The two items that instantly caught my attention: the fabulous Kay Donachie painting @0:25 and the lovely exposed staircase risers @2:28. Everything else was lovely but didn't quite match the visual impact of the aforementioned items, in my ever-so-humble opinion of course. That Donachie painting in particular is seriously fa.bu.lous!

yeah, the hinoki tub with corked lined walls in the basement closet definitely made me think of real homes. cringe.

I love this , collections without clutter , beautiful art and photography, colour where needed .
The house breathes , it’s calming .
Beautifully stated, thought the same.
I can't get enough of the beauty and simplicity of this house, the enviable collection of antique busts, and the charming authenticity of Erdem.

What a beautiful house! Erdem and Phillip have fantastic taste, really loved this tour!
Weird, sweet, & clearly in love. Wish him much happiness in that house. ❤
Ok, a striking observation.
What do you think is weird?
@@THALOOTI I think you may have interpreted that "weird" denotion as more malicious than it really is. Erdem is a bit quirky and that's lovely

In what way is this minimalism? I’m genuinely wondering because they have eclectic collection of art and books, not very minimalist
