Julie is such a lovely woman, warm and enthusiastic, with a sincere love for history, art and architectural heritage. Her personality is the one of a true aristocrat. Not being able to visit those places at the drop of a hat I enjoy her beautiful videos and appreciate the hard work that involves the restoration of these magnificent buildings. Nick Tatchell deserves a gold medal for his work and commitment towards the house, people like him are very rare nowadays. Greetings from Argentina.
Liked. Shared. Commented. Up the algorithm in hopes of repairing more historical homes!
Yes !
Armchair and heating pad traveling with Julie is wonderful!😉 I have such a love for British everything, especially the deep history, castles, manors and nobility. I never get tired of it or bored with it for years and years now. 😃 I’m an Illinois girl myself. Small town farming community.😁 Thank You for making all of this available to us out here in un-aristocratic land.😆 Good on you Julie!!! ❤
I absolutely love this woman who got her home back. Intelligence coupled with goodness shines through.
Them getting the house back is such a great story. I wish they would have done a youtube channel.
This is one of my favorite episodes, now
Oh my goodness what a treasure you have shared with us today. ❤
What joy to watch Julie and Her Jaunty Adventures. It’s fun to armchair travel from Indianapolis, Indiana. Thank you, Julie!
I so enjoy all of your videos. You are living my dream life for sure. From this Grandma in Texas, I am proud of such an awesome person as you are there representing Americans. Keep up your adventures & videos ! ❤
Absolutely loved this video. Julie you are such a great story teller and your excitement is contagious. I'd just love to see these homes.
Julie, thank you so much for highlighting how this family fought for years to get their family home back. So many beautiful and memorable videos throughout, They are finally restoring their home in such miraculous ways. It will be room to room and miracle to moracle as this beautiful Victorian home is restored little by little. Thank goodness for the texan that had.bought the painting back. Lady Viola. OMG. So many people helping to restore.a beautiful old manor home. The ghosts of your relatives are there helping you to achieve all your dreams there! This was such a riveting story throughout!🌟
@19.21 luv how the little boy just leaves the stuff dog 🐶 on his moms shoulder 😅
I Loved that :)
I’m so proud of you! Your work has come such a long way! The shot of the boy asleep in the chair was the sweetest thing I’ve seen all day❤
I could go on hours and hours watching about this fabulous estate (my favourite style!) and this absolutely lovely family! Nobody merits it more than this family, having her fabulous home back! I wish you many more generations, being able to upkeep this family home ans like the old Lady said: we are curious up to the moment when the son will be able to take over! But also the daughter in the treehouse is lovely, as is the entire family. Greetings from Switzerland
What an amazing house ! I’m British and I have never heard of pitchford
Thank you Julie for sharing!!😊
You’re welcome 😊
What a wonderful man who bought the painting of the house and horse!!
Absolutely loved this, so pleased the family managed to return 👏🏻👏🏻
Julie, you will have to revisit in the future. I look forward to seeing how the home and grounds are restored over time. It is so wonderful to imagine the future of Pitchford and the next generation.
Beautiful estate and amazing story. Thank you and the family for sharing this. So impressive!!
New subscriber here, just writing to say thank you for all your great work educating the internet on this subject matter 🙂 I find it so fascinating!
Thanks and welcome!!! xxJulie
Love this so much! Great job Julie for being awareness to these forgotten treasures!! ❤❤
This truly brought a tear to my eye. My grandfather lost his family's estate at the beginning of WWII, he spent 20+ years recreating some semblence of what had been lost, in the countryside a little outside of London. After the collapse of Bre-X
Your best house tour episode, Julie ❤️ from 🇨🇦
That’s going to be a lot of work but totally worth it. What a great house! I love the Elizabethan Houses and was able to tour Littlecote before it was sold. So happy the family is home again.
This was so fascinating, especially the lime plaster and the process of applying.
I wish Rowena and James every single success and best wishes that their dreams are realised! This is a lovely story to keep abreast of and get regular updates of. Thank you for sharing this with us Julie.
Fantastic video and what a lovely family ! Thank you Julie for sharing this beautiful home and sweet family.
What a wonderful story. Thank you for bringing it to light.
Dear Julie, thank you so much for the wonderful videos you share with us! I love to see an American woman embracing British history in such a beautiful way. I enjoy watching your forays into the history of these great castles and estates and manor homes! You bring the history to life for me 😊. Please know that all your hard work is appreciated and enjoyed.
I’ve seen this episode before, any update on how things currently are ?
This is a really fascinating video. That is so lovely that an American purchased that wonderful painting for the home.
This has got to be my favourite. Thankyou so much. What a joy x
The boat ride at the end is amazing. I would love a tree house. Sit & read , with a glass of sun tea. Wish i was a kid again😊
The Arial view of the Beautiful English countryside is tranquil and serene, also breathtakingly beyond beautiful!!!❤❤
Absolutely a joy to see your adventure at Pitchford.
What a lovely program/ documentary done by Viscountess Hinchinkbrook. I have viewed almost all of her shows. This family needs to consider drilling for oil since they have a natural source of pitch on their property. I am happy this family regained ownership of their historic family home.
Totally loved this !! Absolutely beautiful experience ! The lake and rowing was a time travel experience of true wonder.. What a home!! All the best to the family and restorers !! x
It seems like creating groups of people who are willing to help in the renovation in exchange for a vacation stay at the home. Everyone gets something!!
Watching from North Florida. From Aurora Illinois. Go Blackhawks West High. Enjoy your programs. Thank you for showing places I will not be able to see. Class of 1971.
Fascinating, this insight into how the half timbered houses - and especially the wattle and daub - were built in Elizabethan times and the dedication and immense work that goes into repairing it “properly”.
I do hope the family can at some point finish the house.
And then I guess the next round of repairs will be necessary.
Remarkable. Thank you for sharing
Bless this magnificent home / estate ❤
This was a very good episode so enjoyable. Love the music you chose throughout. I 'm counting at least 20 chimnies is that accurate? lady Ptchford is so very lovely, her personality is fun and joyful. Yes, if you can find me a lord, Id love it too! This makes me so happy to see all these places being restored! Years ago I used to watch all the ones that went into ruins...and it really did something to me...I hoped one day people would get together and create organizations to restore them all......and it looks like my wish has seen the light. Wow I learned something very useful about the lime you can use for cement. OMG! the walls in one of my unfinished rooms that is inside another room has HAIRS in it! And the ceiling in the hall with all those tiny stripes of wood they used lime, this area is full of it. So, its Lime Sand and hair?
An American here who is very proud of you and wish you the best!!! Very glad your name is Julie and not Meghan!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I loved this episode ❤️ Thank you for sharing their story... such a lovely family. I wish them the best of luck ...love from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤
This was wonderful! Thank you!
I really enjoyed this video. So interesting and informative! Thank-you.
You are so welcome!
Gorgeous place. Lovely couple. Wishing them many nourishing, exciting years in this ancient, personal stead.
Where can I learn more about how people lost their homes. Who decides what the family owns or doesn’t own & then sell their belongings. I need a lesson.
That could be a video series on it’s own
What an exception view of this amazing house! I love how Rowena and James are so absolutely positive about this restoration project! Have they posted a volunteer board to help?
Absolutely love watching this. Everyone is so sweet.
I think I have seen this one before
Julie, your enthusiasm is so infectious! Recently subscribed to your channel and I love your content. I found you because, being so sick and tired of Meghan M shenanigans, I wanted to find an American married to the British aristocracy and thriving in it. I know there are many of you, but your channel content gives back so much to your adopted country and promotes its culture to the world. Kudos to you!
This has been a joy to watch! I am amazed at the amount of work and the craftsmanship that goes into each room and the grounds. ❤
Great and interesting video.
Glad you enjoyed it
When you first started this video, I wondered how many ghosts are in that building, lol. I'm an American and the house I grew up in was built in the same year as I was born, but it was haunted. The door between the living room and dining room would always open and close by itself. The first time I saw it, I was in the adjoining family room to the dining room and my eyes were wide open; my stepfather said "Oh, don't worry about that, that is just Mr. Ghostie, he's not going to hurt you, he's wondering what's going on in here..Say hi to Mr. Ghostie" So I was 13 years old at the time and said "Hi Mr. Ghostie" and then the door shut by itself. My stepfather said, "See, that wasn't so scary, was it?" It was my first experience with a real ghost and from that point on I can honestly say I'm not afraid of them and I see actual human apparitions from time to time.
Thank you.
I thought we saw this on a previous episode.
Still great vlog!
Thank God for the Texan for buying back the painting and bringing such an important piece of history back to the home. Now on my bucket list just to see it for myself one day in person. Thanks Julie for bringing this story to life on UA-cam.
Very fascinating story. Brilliant Julie.
Love libary . Greste showu. Thanks
What a fabulous movie, Julie. The family was delightful and educational! ❤
New subscriber 💗 Amazing videos - thank you 🙏🏼
Thank you so much for these estate visits. So many of my ancestors came from these areas and were fellow gentry so they must have known each other.
the library looks like it came out of Bath or Brighton
So happy to follow you both
A thousand thumbs-up, that big ole place is the past, living in this moment. Reminding me of a Bob Seger song (Till It Shines) thankx A V
Coolest tree house 🏡 ever ❤❤❤
The podcast Empire, episode 33 / February 23. Lady Mary in Constantinople from The Montague line.
Love this video, so special, their family story is amazing. What a lovely family. On a side note I find it interesting how English people- presumably Protestant- view priest holes. It’s like they see it as a fascinating part of history, but without any sense of horror of the persecution. It makes me think of how most English see colonisation as okay, or rather don’t really think of it at all.
Fascinating
Wow! Love this, history and beautiful architecture. I wonder if there were any diaries attached to anyone’s life or stay at Pitchford? Perhaps news articles in an archive somewhere?
Wow! What a story.
Gosh this Hall, what a treasure trove of delights at every turn! for example the plunge pool - it reminded me immediately of the beautiful pool painted by Sir john Everett Millais as the backdrop for his painting of Ophelia. The library takes my breath away, I have never seen anything like those chandeliers. I am dying the know the name of the interior designer engaged by the owners to create this look, what a genius. I tried to find out online, but no luck, could you possibly direct me to that info?
Is there a possibility that oil could be found underground as a potential income source for the estate? Has anyone looked into that? What a lovely home and definitely worth fighting for and to keep in your family. ❤ Just looking at the outside view as you both went in the very cold water. What an idyllic location :)
Splendid estate. ❤
just checked out the link, very interesting. Can a person actually rent a room and stay?
Ive seen this before.
The library is inspiring! It's like a hybrid of Dr. Suess, Alice in Wonderland, and Monty Python's Holy Grail! 😃
Please educate me on what Lloyds of London did to people to cause them to lose their homes.
Rowena's parents were in a Lloyds of London insurance syndicate and had to sell their house to cover their share of insurance losses.
Hi Julie, The people who have the painting of the Countess of Hinchingbrook have written a book, Classical Shindig. Of all places, it's is in New Orleans. It looked like it was from the Victorian period. Hope you're doing well! Susan
Please post the names of the places you’re visiting a few times through the show. So we don’t have to google what we’re seeing. Thank you.
First thing I would do is repair/replace the whole roof.
BTW almost 9 years ago I remarried my 1st husband after being apart for 20 years, so I get it. Sometimes people are supposed to be where they're supposed to be
I'm not clear why Pitchford had to be sold initially.....
This family is so Likeable
Do they have a youtube account??? They Should. :)
did the romans use the pitch? does it burn?
Will you be doing any more videos from Italy? Thanks x
Yes, soon
@@AmericanViscountess that’s wonderful to hear, I look forward to them 👍🏻
This is a REPEAT! Watched this months ago!
Okay. So enjoy it again. Lol
Yeah another repeat....but remember, there's many who've not seen this before. Just wish she'd alert those of us who have seen it with a small disclaimer like "This is the 2nd time I've uploaded this video"
Tree house on post cards to sale as a group to bring in funds for the estate
Love ,love, love, the houses hate That people think that other people are fit to rule over them because they said so😂 inbreeders....much love from Elgin Illinois stay free beautiful humans ❤ :)
This is a re-run. Saw it before.
So what? Why fuss about it? 🙄
😊😊
I dont understand why i am seeing this again I have seen this story already
we are putting out the feature length films in the month of April. New historic house episodes start next month!
Quit complaining. Don’t watch it if you don’t want to. Geez…🙄
I guess the people of Britain will determine if this house is worth saving since they will be asked to fund its restoration.
Did you not watch the video? Of course it’s worth saving. It should be mandatory that everyone in Great Britain pay for it 😂
If I could be your shadow for a month...❤❤❤
what LOSS???...........
be careful bat pooh can be very toxic
Liked, shared. Love your work, would you ever host a ladies of London reunion at Mapperton?
