I just want to thank you for such a great explanatory video. Seldom have I seen technicians explaining the whole process of repairing/upgrading a laptop so patiently and clearly. Not only that, but I also feel the need to mention that English is my second language, and I was able to understand every single word you said, which is something I usually struggle with. I recently acquired a more modern version of an ASUS laptop, and your video fully helped me to upgrade its RAM and SSD, for which I also thank you. Greetings from Mexico.
Thank you for the help amigo. I bought the same exact laptop in November. Just upgraded the RAM. Easy peezy but I'm so gentle it took me a while to pop open the lid haha.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I bought my Asus Vivobook a year ago and it came with 8gb ram (4+4) and the Asus website is not helpful. Probably because they'd rather I buy a new laptop every year instead of upgrading my ram. This video will have saved me nearly $300 since now I feel confident that I can do this myself. My next project is recovering files from three old hard drives.
I am a person that knows not one thing about computers, and wow, you helped me a lot lol from the program you use as well as just every step of the way. I watched this video about ten times to do it, but it’s done lol I have progressive ms and my memory is 100% horrible lol but I gave you some views lol and I’m gonna share this video on my channel as well to help other. Thank you very much
I find this laptop easy to service. Though I've kind of janked a 4 TB HDD in there that is too thick (15mm thick)... I just left out a couple of screws and let it bulge! Well worth it for that HDD. I also upgraded the ram to 12GB.
Just happened to stumble across this channel and I have to say after watching a few of your videos, you've earned a subscriber!! Keep it up! Happy Thanksgiving!!
Thanks for the tutorial! I change my RAM to a Vengeance 16gb and the ssd to NVMe M.2 Samsung 980 pro 1tb. Cloning the ssd went well, but when I boot up the laptop it gave me an error "inaccessable drive" then Windows restarted itself and gave me the option to start it up in Safe Mode. Which went well and after that everything is working fine. Bit weird but it works! Thank you!

Según la oficial de Asus solo es expandible a 12gb el problema es que Nose si es una máxima de 12gb ola suma de la ram integrada y la externa debe dar 12gb
Great video. 1. Could you please post the make and model of the USB enclosure adapter? 2) Very curious if their is a penalty in performance for not using the same memory size as the soldered onboard? I see individuals using a 32 Gb stick as well. Any feedback would be great, and enjoy the videos!
Sorry didn't work for me. The model of Asus is X202e and it has a standard 1Tb hard drive. It was installed as legacy in BIOS and I cloned to an usual SSD 2.5" Any suggestion?
Awesome Tutorial my man, but I wanted to ask if it is worth upgrading your RAM to 12GB, or will the standard 8GB configuration work just fine even as the laptop age? Cheers!!!
I'd say either upgrade to 16GB or leave it at 8GB because RAMs don't work well together and achieve optimal performance when they are not equal in storage.
Hi! I am wondering how high of an ssd can you install in this device? also i currently have 8gb of ram in my device that came with it! Is it ok to add another 8gb to it as well?
Thank you so much! Can you please tell the exact names of parts and cable for installing 2,5 sdd/hdd in this laptop? In russia it's quite hard to find, especially when you don't know what it is
happy thanks giving mr. dale i have lenovo ideapad 15ikb and i want to disable built in battery but i tried fn+s+v but it did not work i wish if you help me !

What you opinion on that some manu like Asus build machines with both SATA SSD and NVME interface? Is that good or bad? Or should they stick with dual NVME setup?
The more I look at these the happier u am that my F512DA-EB55 already has the caddy. Does the kit Crucial offers work in those Asus X512,, or Acer Aspire 3 models that don't come with an HDD? Also, what speed was the RAM included?one also has 2400 on-board but came with 2666 SODIMM so that's what I ordered. No problems so far, but would 2400 be better?
I followed these instructions exactly using the Macrium Reflect 7 software and the computer will not reboot with the cloned drive like yours did. Any ideas why?
Hi. 4gb onboard, and adding one more 4gb stick in empty slot would get you true dual channel, as long as speed is the same. Being this is not a gaming laptop, it really doesn't matter. Some people just want more ram, 20gb is still better than just 4gb.
Great video! I just put in a 1TB drive (Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SN570 NVMe Internal Solid State Drive SSD), and 8 G RAM (TEAMGROUP Elite 8GB Single DDR4 2400MHz PC4-19200 CL16 Unbuffered Non-ECC 1.2V SODIMM 260-Pin Laptop Notebook PC Computer Memory Module Ram Upgrade). For some reason, the 'puter's not seeing the RAM....? (There was no RAM module in the spot, unlike what you saw here... ) The device still shows it has the onboard 4GBs of RAM, when, theoretically, it should show 12GB. I wonder if you have any thoughts on this?
question. as a vivobook owner, i notice my laptop has the same slot next to the battery, with that same sata connector right behind the nvme slot. would i be able to use both? for instance, could i boot from nvme, with a 2.5 sata ssd as an internal slave? and if so, how would i set it to slave? i know older drives would have the flip switch for it, but i don't believe i've seen those switches on newer drives, ssds specifically.
You can buy a connector cable (Asus only provided slot. But to connect HDD/ SSD you need a connector cable) and connect your newly bought HDD/ SSD and format it and use and D or E drive. After adding new HDD if it's not booting up normally, simply go to bios and select the boot from (primary) as Nvme. That's it. If you have trouble with bios while changing, there are like 100000 videos of those on UA-cam.
in vivobooks there is 8gb soldered on motherboard at 3200mhz. You put 16gb at 2400, now you have 24gigs at 2400mhz. Better get a 16 or 32gb stick at 3200mhz, that is the max ram supported on this machine
@@vladimirzahov4677 On mine the manufacturer says maximum 12gb for this computer. Both on their website, and in an answer to a customer question on a website. Do you think I can use 4gb soldered and still add a 16gb to make 20gb total? Crucial website says that would work, so now I'm confused...
Yes you can. Is your laptop with i5 or i7 10th gen cpu? If yes, then it supports up to 64 gb ddr4 or lpddr4 but you have only one dimm on motherboard so u can add up to 32gb stick in it. The chipset and cpu are both on one SoC that means u have no problem to add all supported memory
