Copy important files to external storage, 2. create Windows bootable USB. - then you can upgrade to new SSD , install windows with bootable USB, and copy your files to new system. Or you also have second option: 1. Buy m.2 to USB adapter. 2. connect your new SSD through USB. 3. Clone your Windows system to new SSD using third party software(ex: Acronis True Image).

It's important to note that some laptops with RGB lights have their module connected straight to the motherboard, and by opening the laptop one could break those cables! Be careful!

@@VeeTalksStuff you have 2 ways to do it if you have a usb stick and want a fresh install of windows you can reinstall windows but if you want all the files from your other drive you can get an m.2 to usb adapter and use a cloning tool to have all your files preinstalled onto the drive
Honestly if laptops had more upgradability like PC's or even a term called Laptop building being easier it would be a game changer but we'll probably see that in 70 years time

@@VeeTalksStuff if ypu wanted to uograde ur win 10/11 ssd you have to transfer Windows to another drive then get in the new ssd then transfer back Windows to you boot ssd. Im going to do the same thing in the future.

I made the mistake of ordered a rain pack of 8GB RAM cards for my older laptop, but unfortunately I didn’t realise it used DDR3, and I got DDR4 cards. I’m now having to order DDR3 cards for that machine. I was able to use one of the DDR4 cards in my other newer laptop but it’s got a weird layout with only 1 RAM slot, and no space or connection for an NVME card, which I also hoped to be able to use. Better than nothing but a shame I couldn’t use the NVME memory too.

Yes, a backup is always a good way to make sure u don't lose anything. I would suggest a full backup to a cloud, and another backup on a physical drive if u can afford it.

Just to note : it is usually not necessary to put thermal pads for RAM cards. There might not even be a heat sink for them depending on model. Though maby the double-sided 32GB ones need the extra heat dissipation. Follow what applies for your laptop and RAM sticks.

ram doesnt change anything of your computer just upgrades it but if your laptop has 2 m.2 slots you can put both drives in it but if theres only one you can swap it out and clone it@@BongooVR
That opening is sure the more common one but some laptops u need to unscrew from the bottom and then lift the keyboard up and u will find some other screws and thats the most "difficult" way to open a laptop.
when I reconnected my battery, there was a blue spark on the right side in the connector but wasn't there after fully plugged in. The laptop turns on but is this anything to worry about or just electricity trying to jump the gap?
