That was AWESOME! I just discovered this video and I am so glad I did. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing experience with us. With modern car assembly, so much is said about robots and automation but it is nice to see that so much of the Type R and all they other Hondas assembled in this factory are put together by human hands. I am proud to say I am an owner of a 2019 Type R and now after watching this video, my car is even more special to me not only knowing how much effort went into the engineering of the car but actually seeing the human beings who assembled it. Thanks again!
@@waichwaichpl Thank you again. Also, no crazy mods for her. Usually, people who do that do not plan on keeping their cars. My Type R is a forever car and will be passed on in the family as something special so your work will be appreciated for future generations. Best of luck in this next chapter of your life.
Lew775 lol I doubt that. At JLR I think we charge each customer £250 to watch Thier cars being built. No one can just walk in and start filming. No staff are allowed to take pictures or film.
Literally the coolest thing I've seen on the internet this year. I've always wondered how cars were built and this is truly insane!! It blows my mind to know someone actually designed and manufactured the robotics that help assemble the car. Very cool. Gorgeous car! Congrats and thanks for sharing this experience!
That adds a personal touch to your particular vehicle, making the appreciation level go up exponentially. If you get to talk to the workers, and they take pride in their build, that would add even further appreciation to your R. I'd say that was a trip well worth it, Jason.
I had an absolute blast visiting the factory last year. Big thanks to Honda UK for the tour, hotel and of course the all inclusive bar 😉 Proud Type R owner
I watched EVERY second.......... I just love Hondas & especially the Type "R". What a special day this must have been to see your very own Type R being assembled in front of your very eyes, incredible!!!
HondaPro Jason Definitely enjoy it when it arrives! I wished they allowed you to put a few of the bits in yourself or autograph the body before putting the last panels in. Still... very awesome to see your own car being built right before your own eyes. I wish it was RHD, but still awesome!
HondaPro Jason Do you know where i can get a glovebox strut for my 2018 civic hatch sport touring?? The uk models have them not the us version🤔 also a glovebox light which the us models have the provisons for both but not available in the us...
Fantastic video sir! That was awesome, really enjoyed viewing the assembly process and seeing how excited you were watching your own car being built.. I live in Bath which is less than 40 miles from the old Swindon factory and i too have a black FK8 Type R. I took her for a spin back to her birthplace just after they shut the factory. Quite emotional, love my car, thank you for sharing.
Hi Jason, I’m 2018 Red Civic Type ‘’R’’ owner and i just wanted to Say Thanks for your videos. I really enjoy watching them because you make them vert interesting. Sad is when u work at a place like this,u dont have love for the cars after a while. Its like working at a restaurant, and never wanting to eat there, because you know how the food is made lol
I bought my civic SI the other day, my first real car purchase. super happy with it. Im jealous of your type R! what a beast of a car and an amazing experience to watch your very own car being built in front of your eyes that's really cool. Thanks for sharing this experience with us
Admittedly I'm not much of a Japanese car fan but Jason, I am so happy for you. As one petrol head to another, I know how happy you must be with this car, and it's the first time I see someone actually visiting the factory to see his new car built! That is so special. kudos to you, enjoy happy and safe driving!
Those shells coming off the assembly line, that's where I am now with my 95 Ej1 Si restore B series Turbo build project.....man do I have a shit ton of work ahead of me!
My first car ever was a 99 civic SiR. Totally know the feeling. Its an exciting time and im really amazed at how far this car has come to what you showed us. EPIC! Great job on the vid, you are one lucky dude!
Thank you very much for this Video! Congratulations to your new car and that excited pickup! You deserve it more than anyone else! Always a good drive, cheers!
Very cool video! I worked at Honda Canada (HCM) and was involved in the BOM (parts) system that was adopted by Honda UK. I've seen all the US car plants, but it was nice to see the HUK plant! Parts are put on the car with as little movement/walking as possible. That's why sometimes the left part is installed in a different area than the corresponding right part - it would require 2 extra steps to put them both on in one spot! I drive an Si, so there is a modicum of jealousy in seeing you acquire a Type R... We don't get a discount on the Type R. Cheers!
We take delivery of our honda civic within the next two weeks it's the 1.0 SR version. Was great to watch this video as I work on the production line at JLR, building the Evouqe and discovery sport. Was great seeing how another manufacturer builds Thier cars. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome video! I actually bought a 2019 Civic SI yesterday and noticed that the 2 Type-R's that where on this specific lot had a sticker of $39k with a $12k markup on top of that making the Type R a $50k+ vehicle. WTF. Honda, I love you but you need to put these dealers in check. That 50k price tag made me walk away any buy an SI instead. Imagine what anyone could do with an SI and the $25k!
This video is awesome, from start to finish build of your awesome Type R. As an owner of the last generation of Honda Accords that have been imported into the UK, I am now starting to look towards the Honda Civic as a replacement for my accord.... but not for the next 5 years as my Accord has just under 50000 miles on the clock and hopefully by then the Civic will practically be the same size.
I’m so happy for you Jason Very emotional ending / almost made me tear up lol Thank you for sharing this moment I ordered my white type R just a few days ago and hope to get it in 8 months Cheers brother
I work at a car Manufacturing plant and the parts being put on in different line locations is common due to many factors. Most cars are built about the same in the order you were seeing things done. Very interesting process and cool to see the process
Wish the Honda plant I’m about to start working at built the type r there. Well on another note, love the face of the current civic models and the black, red and polished metal colors just mean!
I've read that Honda has the highest profit margins on manufacturing in the industry despite being the least automated, which is crazy to me. Seeing this video, though, it's clear they have an unbelievable focus on ergonomics and flexibility, so it makes sense.
They only show u the easy parts, just like when chevy and Ford show u a "clean" building on the news, the rest of the plant is disgusting. If he went to the wire install line, its hotter there, because they have to warm up the wires so they move/bend easier, and its not as clean looking.
Thank you for this video! My 2014 CR-V i-DTEC was built in Swindon, too. It has 220,00 km on the clock now and never let me down. The greatest, most economic and robust vehicle I ever owned, and I have owned Mercedes, BMW, Toyota etc. Soon I will take delivery of my Japan built HONDA HR-V hybrid and hope it will last as long as I do.... Sad that Swindon was closed and HONDA neglects the European market.
