You are right about the cost of wood. Fence pickets, either cedar or treated pine make great porch signs. They are almost as long, but slightly less in width. They are very economical. Great signs!

Nicely done. You're demonstrating the same methods that professional sign makers use on their instructional UA-cam videos. One thing you could do is reuse the "waste" letters or other knockout elements by keeping them on transfer tape until you need them for another project. Another neat trick that professional sign makers use is to layer the different colored "waste" letters on the different colored background shapes. In this case it wouldn't work unless you make a 3rd sign of any shape or scale at least equal to the "waste" letters or larger. With them being of different colors it adds more "pop", "verve", "wow", and fun to your designs. After which you may be inclined to decorate them with layers of spray paint using stencils you can cut out from any digital cutter to create a really cool blended appearance. One other cool touch is to have images printed to the vinyl before cutting it and then reusing the scrap material for the same or other projects. Too bad there isn't a print/make vinyl on demand for deposition to transfer tape. Sort of like a laser printer or "3D" printer. It would eliminate all the thrown away perfectly good vinyl this profession and hobby creates during the weeding process. have you tried making vinyl car decals to sell to people?
Love this video. These are such happy signs. They just make me smile. And yes, I was wondering how tall you are also but, read your reply to the other comment. 😁😁😁 Thank you for the happy tutorial!! Love your top too! 🍧🍦🍨☀️🏖💖🍧🍦🍨☀️🏖💖
Do u have a tour of ur craft room on ur channel? I'd love to know what ur boxes r made of and where u got ur baskets? I'm designing a she shed and love the way u have urs designed. Thanks
Sure! Make 6 copies. On copy 1, click contour and remove everything EXCEPT the S popsicle. Pick copy 2, remove everything but the U. Continue for all letters!
I am seeing so much criticism for sealing over vinyl. I use helmsman water based with paint or oil based stain as the base and have never had a problem. How have yours held up in the past?
I love helmsman too. Their Sparurethane is my go to for outdoor stained pieces actually. I haven't use it over vinyl though. I will say if I don't seal and the vinyl is on wood like this, I can only get one year out of the project then it is done.
I have seen that criticism also on a lot of FB wood sign pages I belong to but I always seal mine also with the helmsman and have no issues. I have found more issues if I don't seal them.
I wish you could do more videos per week you have a very teacher/motherly way of talking which is a great talent to have. Thanks for doing all the hard work so we don’t have to👍🏻😉 hope you keep doing what you do.
Great Video tutorial very easy to follow. I clicked on the link to get the design and it takes me to Cricut design space but I cannot find the design, please help.
@@AngieHolden Thank you for your reply, I'm using a laptop, it takes me to design space but still cannot find the file, is there a file name or number that I need to search for?
It is definitely acting weird. Try opening design space. Then come back and click the link. Mine acted like it was opening, went to the home page, then actually opened up.
@@AngieHolden You need to seal the wood first with polycrylic then you add the vinyl. Vinyl doesn't need to be sealed because if its oracle permanent vinyl then it will last at least 6 yrs outdoors.
Angie, my ggbaby Charlee loves your music in this video! She watches & listens closely for a 1 year old. Thank you
Love it!!
I love the way your porch signs came out!
Thank you!

It is so bad! Thanks for the comment!
Very good tutorial Angie. I’m not sure I could transfer something that big. You did a great job.
You can do it!

Thanks for the comment! You can see more about car decals here: ua-cam.com/video/593RB8Be2s8/v-deo.html
Really Love the colorful designs... Thank You 😊
Thank you! Cheers!
Really nice work, Angie. I WANT to make both of these lovely designs, love your color collab.
Thank you so much!
Thanks, Angie!
Thanks for watching!
Great idea. But since I do not own a Cricut but another brand of machine I will have to do research on the design

Ok this is the universe telling me I need to make a porch sign.
Yes. Yes it is!

I love these signs. I want to make the Oh Hello. May I ask what font that is? I love it!
I used a design in Cricut Design Space to make it not a font.
Hi Angie, how did you use contour to break up the SUMMER popsicles. I'm at a loss. Beautiful work as always.
Sure! Make 6 copies. On copy 1, click contour and remove everything EXCEPT the S popsicle. Pick copy 2, remove everything but the U. Continue for all letters!
Hello Angie were do you find summer on Ice cream? I just think it's adorable.
I walked through that in the Design Space portion of the video. The image is in Cricut Design Space.
I assume you get your wood from a hardware store. Do you ever buy the primed boards, or rough cut ones?
I rarely get primed and I stay away from rough cut unless I want something really rustic.
Love them both! I'm going to give it a try. What size was the wood you used?
It was a 1 x 8 that was 6 foot long I think.
I am seeing so much criticism for sealing over vinyl. I use helmsman water based with paint or oil based stain as the base and have never had a problem. How have yours held up in the past?

Love how the signs turned out!💕 Also can you reuse the transfer tape after you do a big project like that?
Yes you can!
What everyone is asking after watching this video is... How tall are you? 😂😂😂😂😂 Great video. Keep thinking outside of the box! 😊
HA! I am 5 foot 4 inches. These signs are about 72 inches tall.
I was wondering the same thing 😉

Can I apply minwax over printable vinyl?
I would test it first. Some products can react with the ink.
How long do you wait to apply the vinyl after painting the sign?
At least 24 hours.
@@AngieHolden Thank you so much! Your videos are so very helpful!
Angie, do you know how to remove sublimation ink from a mug when you mess up? Ty
You don't really! You can put a darker design on top?
Ok will try it. Ty
Great Video tutorial very easy to follow. I clicked on the link to get the design and it takes me to Cricut design space but I cannot find the design, please help.
It should open up in Design Space for you. You may have to zoom out number one. Number two I know mobile has been having issues with opening projects.
@@AngieHolden Thank you for your reply, I'm using a laptop, it takes me to design space but still cannot find the file, is there a file name or number that I need to search for?
If it is opening a file, it may be too large for you to see. Try zooming out to 25%.
@@AngieHolden No it is not opening a file, it just takes me to my home page and that's it.
It is definitely acting weird. Try opening design space. Then come back and click the link. Mine acted like it was opening, went to the home page, then actually opened up.
Angie how can we do this sign with the explorer 2
I walked through how to divide up a sign into pieces for the SUMMER sign. Same concept for Explore Air 2.
Is there a way to make the popsicle one less shiny
Most permanent vinyl is shiny. I would say add a matte sealer over the top and that would do it.
@@AngieHolden Thanks
Where did you get the wood?
I picked up these boards at Lowes.
Anyone else a little disappointed that she doesn't have a sign on her porch that says, "Hello and Welcome"?
HA HA HA! You win best comment of the day.
@@AngieHolden it is definitely your catchphrase! :-)
You should never put polycrylic or any type of sealer over vinyl.
Not sure why? If I don't, my signs last about a year and that is it.
