I've been trying to find a step-by-step forever that I could understand and would be simple though understand I'm 63 and sometimes it's a little hard but this is perfect. Thank you so much I subscribe your channel. Can't wait to see what else I can learn. Thank you so much sweetheart.
This is wonderful. Thank you for imparting your knowledge to us. My schedule is to make all my signs for every holiday after the new year. I am super, super busy now decorating making wreaths and decorating my trees and so forth. I am saving this tutorial and will reference back to it when I start making my signs. Be Blessed
Just watched this...fantastic..do you think the new chalk paint from starcraft would cover better...also if stenciling a board...do you think this process with registration marks do the same? You are awesome...thanks
Starcraft chalk paint would be a million times better! It was not yet released when I created this video so that’s why I didn’t use it! Yes, I would use registration marks with stenciling so that you can keep the letters lined up.

This is a great tutorial. Where did you purchase the Welcome sign bundle? I’d like to try this… I just did mine with doing individual letters 6x6 but not crazy about any of the fonts. I too do a 6ft welcome sign!
This video is amazing and answered every question I could think of. I'm going to be making a Christmas sign. I don't have a cricut, and will be buying the decal but I'm handling the wood part
Hi Alex! I’ve just found your channel and I like this video so I subscribed to your channel. I just got my CRICUT a couple of months ago and I want to learn everything about it. I sure do hope you can help me out learning this. Thanks for sharing this video
So glad I found this video! I have not had much success using vinyl and really want to make some signs. Your method of using parchment paper has given me the courage to try again. Thank you! 😀
Will the polycrylic keep the painted wood from weathering? I made a wreath with a wooden sign in the middle and I’m trying to figure out how t keep the wood looking nice long term. Also my front door gets beat up by the sun
I’m so excited I found this tutorial! I’ve wanted to make a porch sign but didn’t know where to start. This was a huge help! Thanks Alex!

Thank you for such a GREAT video. Love your teaching style, as always.
Thanks Sarah ❤
I am using reclaimed, older wood & using acrylic paint (I think) - there's often yellowing - think a primer would help?
It might help! I’m not sure if that would reduce yellowing or not.
Can this process be used for creating a stencil instead of vinyl? I'm going to pull my hair out!!
Yes, that could work too!
Hi love your video, may I ask what size wood do we purchase for the front door?
You can use any size you'd like!
Hi, why do you use chalk paint instead of acrylic? 😊
I wanted a chalky matte finish, but acrylic paint would be fine too!

Which size wood for porch sign
There is no specific size. Whatever you have or whatever size works for your porch!

You can totally do it! You’re welcome!
What size was your board and kind?
It looks like a 1x10x6. Or 1x8x6. Pine board
@@jillb7234 thank you 😊
Yep, it's a 1x10x6
I really need to start learning how to use registration marks. Thank you
Great Vidieo thank you
Thank you for a great tutorial video and for the registration marks trick! 🎃
You are just incredible! I learned a few more things in THIS video! Thank you so much for this wonderful DIY!!!

@@DIYAlex I just bought the SVG bundles. They are all so pretty and going to use several for each holidays!

The polycrylic will slow down the damage, but eventually the elements will warp it. So I recommend sealing it before putting it on your door for sure!
@@DIYAlexWhat do you recommend sealing with?
Would registration marks still be useful using smart vinyl and one really long cut?
Nope! You wouldn’t need it if you could cut the whole piece on one roll of vinyl.
Great video! Music was a little distracting though. Sorry!
Thanks for the feedback!
Do you have a video showing how you use your vinyl machine? And which one do you have ?
Check out my Cricut for beginners playlist! I have a Cricut Maker and an Explore Air 2.

I love this tutorial!!!
How long did you allow the paint to dry before painting on the opposite side?
As soon as it’s dry you can flip it over and paint it.
Could you use smart vinyl and put all the letters on one sheet of vinyl?
Yes, you could definitely do that!
Will the polycrylic prevent yellowing?
It can help with that!
Every time I try this my vinyl wont stick. I have tried stain n paint n then sealer but no luck.
What kind of vinyl are you using?
@@DIYAlex permanent
It sounds like you might want to try a different brand. High quality vinyl should have no problem sticking.
This is the reason I got my cricut 💕
That’s awesome!! I can’t wait to see your projects! Are you in my Facebook group? That’s a great place to show what you’re making! ☺️
