Useful info for those who don't know. Glad u made this video with all the rising car theft worldwide
Sorry to troll you with the Yugo question other day. Verplanck NY is the movie with Danny Devito, Bette Midler, Casey Affleck and more. Everybody in the whole town had Yugo's in the movie Drowning Mona...
You're right 😂
How much do you get for advertising???
When are you going to check your junk mail I'm sure my Email ended up there.
From Kickflo I would have worked it by the time you find in millions of emails. 😂😂😂😂
😂😂 Jokes I think it's the plugs and injectors. Not sure of others, code reader at shop told me not much.
A friend of mine used to have a 1980 Chevy Citation that was well used and he never worried about anybody stealing it. He said that a car thief might break into the car to put money on the dash out of sympathy.
Datz.... funee!
I hadda citation... the beatings stopped when I sold it!!!!
Chevy made an even worse car before that. In 1976 they brought out the Chevette It was a cheap 4 cyl econobox w NO similarities to the venerable old Chevelle or Corvette's except for the bow tie emblem lol. 😂
I still say new technology is NOT always a good thing!
I had diesel chevette to commute..the fenders rotted away and that isuzu kept humming at 50 mpg
My plan has been to own vehicles nobody would want to steal. 100 percent successful so far.

Dear Scotty, I hope and pray that they do not shut you down. I am an 80-year-old woman, and you have helped me so much with your little little tips And just different things that you tell about cars
For most thieves a manual transmission is a very effective anti-theft device
Only Amerikkk4ns. Lol
Only Amerikkk4ns. Lol
Pretty good in North America unless the thief is also some boy racer.
Only in America
Most Europeans know how to drive manuals.
Hope so. Both of my vehicles are manual.
I purchased one of these boxes when I first got my truck. I even tested it. I took the box with the key in it in my truck and I could not start my truck if the key was in that box. So I proved that the box works to myself.
A good idea is to leave the cell phone in the box while driving . Prevents texting .
A good microwave oven also works. Don’t turn it on though!
You crack me up Scotty!
Tell it like it is!
But are car prices about to crash? Is Scotty mad as hell? Is he leaving forever? I'm sure the entire auto industry is shocked.
No, he died again, RIP
No, he gonna be sued this time...
Scotty will do anything to get views
They don't care. They sell the dang things. The more the merrier.
I heard he is retiring this summer
Thanks for the tip, Scotty!
Thank uou Scotty for sharing this valuable information with us !
Scotty I have been a mechanic for 30years and still at it on the side , you are one of the best repair men I have ever seen , I would hire you with out a doubt , people should listen to you , what a talent you have , I never found anything you aren't explaining perfect .
Bang On, thanks Scotty.
I just love this guy... Thanks Scotty I'll be sure to get these items for my safety 👍
Scotty is wise and speaks the truth.
Thanks for sharing!
Scotty, you are too pure for this world hahaha. Your content is gold. Thanks for just being you man.
Wow! I’m in Love 🥰 Scotty. What wonderful information you share with your audience. Thank you 🙏🏾!
Scotty posted a recording some time ago that was very simple and ultimately effective to stop your vehicle from starting at all.
Learn where the relay for the starter is and whenever you park your car, remove the starter relay. The vehicle will not start at all until the relay is reinstalled.
Scotty Your Videos And Advice Have Helped Me Out Tremendously And You Have Taught Me Alot, I'm Getting Ready To Go On Vacation To Tennessee To Bring My F150 And Meet You And Let You Check It Out And Make A Video On It Before You Go To Rhode island At The End Of March.
I just put my key fob in an old metal tin. That's a Faraday box too.
A metal cookie container works for me.
Yep, it works too. But you can't put it in your pocket . You need faraday pouch as the basterds wait on any Mall entrance to scan you while walking out of your car.
They even have faraday bags. Its the fabric lining in the box that protects it. Scotty, you are a good guy and I like how everything you make videos about, is true and so helpful to people who just don't know. I also like how you have ways for people to show it actually works and like you said, if your cellphone works, the box is crap.
If you have a newer Toyota keyfob, you can put it in low power mode and it won't actively communicate, eliminating the man-in-the-middle relay attack. Your batteries will last longer too. I made a habit of it as soon as I got the truck, check your owners manual for instructions. Only drawback is you have to remember to do it, but you have to remember to put your keyfob in a Faraday box. I didn't want the keyfob but it wasn't a choice for a TRD Sport. I would be happier with just a physical key!
Disclaimer: UA-cam did nothing.
Thanks for adding to the algorithm!
As ever, totally agree. I have advised colleagues and friends to have the safety hammer and Faraday box. I am in England. For my Audi S3 ( I know you hate them) I have 2 Faraday pouches. I know they work. Totally recommend the hammer in the central console. I had mine in Driver side pocket, but I agree your idea and reasoning is better. Thank you for that. You mentioned a crash, but also if a flood and you have a locked dash holder, not a good place to put. Always, you are so correct, except about AUDIs in UK and Europe
Immobilisers have been mandatory on new cars in Australia for years.
"You don't want to buy the Faraday box after your car has already been stolen, it's like closing the gate after the cows already left"
I died of laughter at this.. Scotty is a true gem.
It seems to me a regular old fashioned key is a lot less trouble than having to protect the data from the high tech one by lugging around a faraday box.
Good recommendation to keep one of those emergency glass break tool in the center console
I totally agree with you about keyless entry and keyless start being a step backwards for security. I've been looking at Toyota Camry cars. All their hybrid versions have keyless entry and keyless start. That seems to be the same with all their hybrid vehicles. Their hybrids come with a bunch of upgrades by default but keyless entry and keyless start are both downgrades, to me. They also only come with a space-saver tyre (for their hybrids).
All the new Camrys (and Corollas) come with automatic electronic parking brakes. That's just another thing to go wrong. Apparently those automatic brakes can't be repaired. If part of it stops working, the entire thing has to be replaced and it costs about AU$2000 to replace it!
In a pinch, you can pull the headrest & use its metal post to break window … although you’ll still need to gnaw through the seatbelt …
It’s so sad that we live in an era where you can’t trust anyone

UA-cam is Trying to Shut Me Down for Showing You This 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

03:30 ... those physical keys with the immobilizer chip is the only type of car/truck I would buy. I do not like these fobs with push-button starting features. Then again, I prefer manual transmissions (that's "stick shift" to those who don't know anything but automatic transmissions), I prefer manual everything including window cranks.
All this technology is a gold ring in a pig's snout. Fancy, but not worth it in the end.
Scotty I have to tell you I watched a live on those window breakers and belt razor junk but I did see another video of a new company that did a show not tell. please do a video showing us that thing works ❤
I had a freind in the late 70s who got pulled over in his rolling, but on its last legs type 3 VW Wagon.
The Cop became very concerned when he noticed the screwdriver stuck in the ignition. Once satisfied the car reallybwas his, he asked: "Aren't you worried about somebody stealing it?"
To which he replied: "WHO would do that?"
I could listen to scotty tall about cars and repairs all day
And for even MORE protection, put the glass breaker in the Faraday box and coat the Faraday box with the Fix-a-Flat. :P
I love it!!! LOLOLOLOL
Good one, man, cracked me UP!!!!😅
They also made units that gives you a handle that goes into the door latch
Great video
I can depend on Scotty to make me laugh. Gotta love him.
True genius
Scotty I have no problems with people stealing my automobile. I keep a pet cougar in the backseat. He sleeps in the car overnight.
😅😅😅😅
Good idea like the cards for your credit card chips
Never thought about that. Can't start my car but I can get into it with the keys inside the house.
Good thing I park in the garage 😂
I know he's right. We are becoming that tech-savvy that I believe that this good happened. Put your keys in the box
SCOTTY ... you can also BUY a ferraday pouch to keep your ekey
Scotty you always gets to the point right away and I thank you for it!
Anyone else would wax long on the history of the key fob and put me to sleep!
still listening and nothing about youtube having any issues
I agree, more technology is NOT always better!👍😎
No it isn't

What's in the box?!
What's in the BOX?!!
WHAT'S IN THE BOX?!!!!!!!!
Man in the box
Wife's head in the box-😱 scene from the movie- SEVEN,starring Brad Pit.
Jack is in the box
Many cars including toyotas can be stolen without the wireless fob by hooking up through service computer ports like in rear tail light . The only way protect is get s kill switch like car-stopper or ravelco. Or pull the starter and fuel pump fuses,
Theres also devices to intercept the signal when you use the remote. Even the box won't necessarily keep you safe. Like the old saying goes, if they're determined, they will find a way. Best measure if you're really concerned is to get a full insurance coverage policy.
6:40 in another world Scotty precedes to smash his son's window and cut the seatbelt because intrusive thoughts win sometimes. "watch this"
Scotty, you should have mentioned what a Faraday cage does. You explain everything else so well. VERY occasionally you do not say something. Lightning happens, but planes or vehicles do not suffer but people playing golf or outside can, but why not also carry aluminium sheet? That too is something also to carry always
If you VIN is visible on the dash like in Subarus. You can make a key from that
Scotty will put his key from his 1994 Celica in the box.
Scotty put his Celica key in a safety box in the bank
😂
@@dommm111 👍Which of many banks? Switzerland bank 🏦
I am sure he actually does!😃
Hi,
Always thank for providing good sources.
My car Audi A3 a little of 100K seems blown cylinder head gasket by checking coolant tank.
It looked okay two weeks ago.
Would you give some recommendations about its rather replace new engine or able to repairs.
Appreciate your comments!!
I keep my Cows in the Faraday barn. No worries if the gate is open.
ok but... you would have to take the key fob out to unlock your car and start it. Thieves watching with RFID scanners can just activate the scanner when you either open the door or start the car. You could avoid the first part by taking the physical key out of the electronic key and opening the physical lock, but you can't avoid keyless ignition. What a disaster.
I keep tire plugs and an air compressor in my car rather than fix a flat. That ruins the tires.
I totally agree with him, I will never own a vehicle that's got this keyless crap.
They almost all do but you can disable the automatic feature and just use it like a regular car remote by pressing the buttons.
@@Notfiveo0 There's many other things that I don't like with modern vehicles, push button electronic parking brake for example, I don't need that crap, having to have a diagnostic tool to be able to replace the brake pads. Those electronic motors do fail and cost much more than a simple cable.
I have the exact same box for my keys. bought it 2 years ago.
I saw a video of people stealing cars by making antennas to amplify the signal from the key and I was wondering if a box like that existed.
You can use aluminum foil as a faraday box. Make your own.
On Toyota you can put the key on sleeping mode !!!
@ Scotty We're supposed have freedom speech 😔 keep sharing truth love your information Excellent Mechanic 😊
One prepper survivalist blog made a faraday box, out of a metal garbage can, and an ammo box by lining them with cardboard, sealing them up real good, and grinding the paint off the ammobox to get a good electrical connection, and sealing with tin foil. Check it out!
Why would UA-cam shut you down for this? Heavens to Betsy Scotty!
Everyone is censoring everything
Hi Scotty. Not sure if people are aware that on newer models for Toyota if you hold down the lock button and press the unlock button twice on the fob it turns off the key fob. The light will flash 4 times on the fob so you know it is turned off. You must press any of the key fob buttons to reactivate the key.
The GM PASS KEY III VATS (Vehicle Anti Theft Systems) Key. GM VATS KEY III without the key will disables the fuel pump for 5-15 minutes.
In my garages instead of filling them up with junk and leaving the car outside in the open I actually put my cars in a locked garage out of the weather. Also we have a proper faraday key safe. Not much point having a little box which is easy to steal if you are worried about those sorts of things.
Or you can switch off the keyless entry usually. The dealership will tell you how, or do it for you. Btw, I have a *pacsafe* brand shoulder bag and it has an internal "Faraday Cage" pocket for your keys. I highly recommend that brand of bag.
Or we blend generations different key for the doors and an imbolizer in the column! Or even better immobilizer on both but different keys for each on separate frequencies to keep even more security
I drive a manual. Best anti theft device 😂
And for Toyota or Lexus. Hold the lock button while pressing your unlock button 2xs. FOB light blinks 4xs. This puts your FOB to sleep: Car and FOB stop locating each other.
A Faraday pouch would be better. So you are walking around the signal can be accessed.
I wired my car so that using the fob, or any remote hacking device, merely sets off the alarm. Complete piece of mind spending 2 seconds to lock/unlock it with the key.
I have a 2021 Renault Koleos (Australia) and it will not start unless the electronic key is in the vehicle, so thieves cannot start it unless they have the Key in the car.
Small metal cash box as an alternative perhaps?
How about a smaller faraday bag or wallet so you can carry it with you, like in your pocket? I don't like not having my keys with me at all times.
Do they have boxes like that small enough to fit your keys and in your pocket?
Those faraday boxes sometimes go with faraday pouches . You must have them as well, because the thieves wait at Malls exists and scan your purse while you are walking towards your car. Also such boxes will NOT help on Kia and Hyundai, because they have a small like old Tetris device ( $20 000) which can generate a virtual key just by pressing car's little button on the handles . After that they can come at any time they want to pick up your Korean car.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure…
10:00 ... in high school I worked at a tire shop... I can tell you 100% that tire technicians want you to tell them you put fix-a-flat in the tire. When we would begin working on the tire and the tire pressure sprays us with all that goo, it not only ruins the clothes we are wearing, but often we would get a face full of that goop. It might not be hydrochloric acid, but it is not comfortable getting sprayed with that goo when we don't expect it.
Telling the tech you put that goo into the tire allows the tech to alter the way they work on your tire and it saves a lot of time and mess.
Just in case nobody has mentioned it already, the box is a Faraday Cage. You can isolate electronic devices by surrounding them with a conductive material. It's why microwave ovens have a mesh in the window. You could wrap your keyless remote in aluminum foil or copper mesh or take a run of the mill cardboard box and wrap it or line it with aluminum foil. I do this with my phone when I don't want AT&T or Apple tracking me, and I have an gallon size plastic baggie lined with aluminum foil if I want to shield my laptop when I take it somewhere. You can be sure your cellphone service provider is tracking you and selling the data. Police departments want to do this, too.
So they recognize the box looking through the car window, and smash the window and steal the car and keys !
I stop theives withan extra pedal and a stickshift.
Worked for 45 years.
My Ford chipped key works just fine and the car is 26 years old 😊
I'd like to see the evidence that UA-cam is trying to shut you down for showing a faraday cage, a window breaker and some Fix a Flat. Not likely. 😂
Scotty has the black belt in clickjacking headlines!
All of You Tube is shocked and viewership will crash - if Scotty gets away w showing these mundane items! 😂😆😁
How bout those Toyota Tacomas being recalled already for loose nuts and the tundra
I always keep my keys on my nightstand in my room right before I go to sleep
Hard to imagine Scotty paying $18 for a little box. 🤣
Note - faraday bags (I keep my key in one) lose their effectiveness over time, so check it every few months by trying to unlock your car by touching the handle with the key on you and in the faraday bag.
Those key chips don't always work. I had an Olds with the key chip. I wanted to get another for an extra spare. Was told a crazy price by the dealer. And that the key itslef could not start the car, minus the chip. I went to a Home Depot. Was able to copy the key. And it started the car! No chip needed!
Can you help I have a 2019 Mercedes GLE 400 twin turbo love the vehicle I’m told there is no dipstick to check transmission fluid I can’t find any opening is it under the plastic cover on the motor and if so can you siphon transmission fluid out to put new?
Better yet, to test the Faraday cage box, put your key fob in it, close it securely and carry it to your car and see if you can unlock and start your car. The cell phone is likely a different frequency and how a Faraday box is made can affect which frequencies it operates over.
Note that Toyota has a key fob that has a cheat code to actually turn it off (at least till a button is pushed so it can be accidentally turned on when in your pocket).
I bought that exact box a month ago was worried you would call out the box as garbage:)
