I took my 1984 Dodge Rampage 5-Speed stick to Germany twice. Two things the German auto inspectors are death on is "Any" unibody or frame rust that is through the metal. They will use an Awl to test spots they believe are week. Also, vehicles which are "Gross" polluters. If it smokes, it will be dead lined until fixed to standard.
Your son is a war criminal.

Scotty! It was great meeting you. I ended up having to replace the struts as the shop installed them completely wrong and crushed one of the bushings. They agreed to to replace the struts with KYB non-loaded struts for just the price of the part no labor. You were right, those quick-struts were garbage! The car drives much better
I came here to see why Honda is trying to sue you
scotty should write for national enquirer for his headlines skill
Yea he gets me every time!!!
😂😂😂😂
His headlines are turbo Audi but his content is Honda Civvic
I’m so glad Mazda hasn’t used CVTs in their smaller cars. I hope it stays that way.
Ohhhh…..that’s changing
Yeah and Advanced Auto doesn't want you to know that the price of ATP 205 Reseal has Tripled in price in four years either.
I bought 6 bottles of it two years ago. Glad I did.

Been to the states twice since Scotty first raved about the stuff.

O'Reilly's is the worst
@@nuthinbutlove I occasionally do business with them and I can get free shipping if I shop online but the store can’t do that for me, so they are financially hurting the retail stores for some reason.
That stinks that ATP 205 Reseal has gone up so much, but I am not surprised 😢
Just sold my 2001 accord and everything was still original and working . Original A/C never charged and still blowing ice cold . They don't make them like that anymore.
How many miles and about how much was the selling price? Asking for reference. Thx
Marktuyet had a 1998 Accord that got T-boned by a construction vehicle so it was totaled with 285,000 on it. The AC was always cold my cousin who was an HVAC tech told me to run the AC for 5 minutes every Saturday all year long. Since there are seals in the system and there are lubricants in as well this keeps the seals pliable. Do the same with my home AC unit and it lasted 28 years.
Scotty you are right on ! My 2013 CVT Accord 's transmission was broken when it reached $170,000 miles. My older 1999 Accord had gone up to 240,000 miles when I got rear ended and junked the car. The older models are better than the 2013, 2014 Accords.
CVT transmissions are much lighter and simpler and are more efficient than ordinary transmission. My 2008 Lexus has a CVT transmission and the car accelerates to 60 in the mid 5 second range. Toyota added something called "launch gear" to their CVT's that improve acceleration off the line.
Driving up and down I-65 will test how well your suspension was built. It's not as bad as it used to be but there are still plenty of areas where the road surface is like driving on the moon.
I must have missed what Honda is "trying to sue Scotty for talking about this".
Scotty is so fun to watch! Greetings from Europe Scotty and keep up the good work👍
I had a 2017 Civic and I loved it. It would get 45 mpg and it would go if you stepped on the gas. I could still get it up to 115 mph!
Me too
My 2020 lx reaches 126 and tops out 😞
I could listen to Scotty all day man
It was not clear to me, do you like this CVT transmission or not?
I have a good law firm for you - Dewey, Cheetum and Howe.
Those guys died
N’yuk n’yuk!
I wish Scotty would quit hemming and hawing about CVTs and give us his real opinion.
Yeah, it’s hard to tell, but maybe Scotty just doesn’t like CVTs? 😅
I’m gleaning that maybe he doesn’t like CVT transmissions? Anyone get the vibe? He kind of keeps us guessing!!!!
CVTs are awful, but can last if you change the fluid out every 25k miles.
I buy ATP online, direct from the manufacturer in New Mexico.
Works so well, I wonder if Walter White Heisenberg concocted it.
Happy to own a 2020 manual civic 😍
Happy owner of a 2014 manual civic, and 1999 manual accord here.
Hello fellow honda owner!
I guess you are wondering why I brought you all here. It was to tell you that I also am in the Honda gang! Civics 2008 1.4 manual petrol mkvii and mk x 2018 1.5 manual petrol.
2020 Civic Si Sedan here...only 12k miles. Wouldn't have a Civic any other way than manual (although the Si should have been a hatch)
Totally love my manual 2020 Civic Sport!
I have a feeling when they repaired the damage and they replaced the struts and tightened up all the bolts while in the air on a lift and put the bushings in a bind when the car is on the ground
exactly...u gotta tighhten on the ground
Exactly what it was they fixed it under warranty thankfully

Hey Scotty, what do you think of CVT transmissions?
Is it illegal to claim a company is sueing you when there not?
Civil court only
I've been driving cars for over 55 years and I never "knew" how lost children drove, and rubber could actually make a noise 😮 who knew ! By by the way Scotty what do you think ( do you like it) about the CVT Transmission??? 😂
Scotty tell us how you really feel about the CVT transmissions 😂
KEEP SHOUTING THE TRUTH SCOTTY! - IT'S WORKING! - Wife just bought a limited edition 2024 Honda Civic
"Sport" with a STANDARD 6 spd Transmission! At 72 yrs young. Salesman and I had to hide our white knuckles after Granny's test drive!
Thanks. Interestingly, we had a 1966 GALAXIE 500 XL/ 4/SPEED, when first married (1969,,still married) & until about 1972!, anyways, She would prefer a manuel now, etc.
Thanks.. oddly, I stayed, with the NAPA SPECTRUM QUIK STRUTS my Shop”” used “” to rebuild all of my 2015 Journey/4 CYL…@some 100,000 miles… so far ,@ONLY some 5000 miles on the NAPA’s ,back to good Suspension SO FAR……
What are quick struts?
my 2020 crv ex rides very rough on the highway bumps, most annoying.
but handles very nicely on back roads and aren't as jarring.
We're can I get this ATP 205? we only have Auto Zone and O'REILLYs and Napa. Here in Kingsburg CA
My Toyota eCVT takes off like a rocket because it uses the motor to give the engine a boost when accelerating hard
Scotty why didn't you mention in had a CVT transmission.
You can get a Civic in a standard, but it has to be either the Si or Type R package
Spot on about the CVT. Once they go, there's no servicing or rebuild, just a shop runaround and pricey replacement. Stay away.
I think Scotty is finally warming up to the CVT transmissions.
The control arm bushings will make noises as they age and some will move in and out.The bushing is replaceable but by that time the ball joints are also aged, the price of the bushings are almost as much as a new control arm.
"QuickStrut"made by Monroe, some like them and some hate them.
I drive a Toyota Yaris Hybrid with a 1.5 litre engine and a CVT. More than one friend has commented favourably on the acceleration and I'm very happy with the CVT.
Forget about Quick Struts and CVTs. The war ended in May of 1945. Why is this US soldier going to Germany?
LOL 👍
And how is he going to get his car over there, will cost a fortune surely?
Scotty I have a question. What do you think of cvt transmissions
He answers that question at the 7:03 time, 7:55 time, and (in more depth) the 8:15 time points.
They are here to stay…everyone needs to get over it
Think of CVT like an expansion and contraction styled transmission which is why it doesn't shift. It works best with today's MPG standards. Generally a higher 3 MPG than gear driven automatics.
Does this particular car come with a CVT transmission?
I’m not quite sure what Scotty thinks about CVT transmissions!!! Also, does he recommend quick struts!!!!
I drive a 2017 Suzuki Vitara with a 1.6 l diesel engine and a CVT. Works like a charm! Wouldn't change this CVT for any other transmission!
i never dont reember driving an auto honda but i drove my friends brother's 1988 accord and my god i could not believe the power of that car so smooth just a damn rocket . felt like 0-60 7 seconds but really 9 idk.
I have a 90 CRX Si with those same bushing clunk noises. Does everyone agree the AT 295 Reseal Will soften those bushings better than any spray on lubricant?
We're here for you boss
What about the bushing oil dripping on the driveway? Put some card board down or something.
What do you think about a 2019 Mitsubishi eclipse cross LE
I hate CVTs as well!!!!
Unbelievable that they are sueing you for that!! Absolute shocker! Take them to the cleaners!!
I love your videos
Had a 2015 Altima, after 230, thousand miles, only thing that didn't work when I got rid of it was the rear window defroster, all those years, oil change, tires and a battery, was the only thing I had to replace.., to each his own.
I have a 2019 Honda Civic with 100K miles on it. I have had zero problems with it so far. However I hate the CVT too! Gone are the days where Hondas had that super smooth buttery feel to the driving experience
I'm going to try this stuff on my '16 Jeep Compass 🤔 It's been making a lot of weird noise in the front end. I'm almost certain it has to do with the bushings.
Nice. Solder will be chillin’ in Germany, somehow I think that it can be called a vacation
Does it have a cvt. ?
Good, I feel better about my KYB struts on my 08 civic LX
I'd actually prefer the Manual transmission. Does that fvintage,2016) have an immobilizer? If they don't have both, how what years would have them? A manual transmission with an immobilizer key would be less of a theft target.
You can still get the civic hatch and the si in a manual still, as well as the type r.
Not everyone needs/wants to get the big models
@@acenewholland564 is the civic hatch considered upscale? I think you can get it for around 25k new
I’ll stick to used market, can get good stuff for a 1/3 of that price in $CA
3:19. Is that customer in background? 😊
I have a Honda Vezel. 1500cc with eCVT gearbox. No belts to worry about, The gearbox has 2 electric motors in it and goes like a scalded cat from stationary
Honda should be ashamed to try and sue Scotty kilmer
Scotty rants about CVT transmissions like I rant about the weather with the same results.
One observation: Contrary to what Scotty inferred, Honda still DOES market Civics with manual transmissions in the US (as of March 2024).
CVT is a shame 👏🏻 love how scotty mention it nearly enough 😂
put cvt in S mode, it accelerates noticeably faster in my 2014 Civic 1.8L.
Scotty, I don't get why a car with a CVT doesn't have the oomph of conventional MT or AT. Seems to me a CVT is the ultiimate oomph setup because it can snap to peak horsepower and just hold it there, sliding the gear ratio from near standstill to top speed while always at peak power. What could be quicker than max air and max fuel all the time?
id bet most of those codes were from the install of the "info-tainment" screen
CVT could be quick, but most of the time a civic is tuned for economy , so it tries to keep the revs down.....but hondas love revs, so it does hurt performance the way they tuned that transmission. If it's rubber belt CVT they try to ramp up the power a little so it doesn't Jatco Grenade.
Hi Scotty, tell the soldier going to Germany to get a few tips about driving there, they’ve got a few different road laws that he might be unaware about and you’ll get a fine as when I worked there they were everywhere, on the flip side he’ll enjoy the freedom of no speed limits on certain autobahn’s
lol if Honda really thinks you have that much influence they’re crazy! I watch all your videos and all I have is Hondas lol but let me say, my 2016 civic makes the same noise I’ve taken it to 4 different shops they all say it’s fine. I’m at 175000 miles on it and it’s been going on for about 100k miles. It really bothers me, but I don’t know what to do. I’ve thought about replacing the front suspension completely.
There is a service bulletin for the Odyssey making a clunking noise when turning corners. It does two things, lubricate the area around the shock shaft, and torquing the top bolts holding the shock on.
@@knfpumps thanks you I’ll get that done today
ha ha ... scotty hates cvt ... and his passionate rant has completely convinced me to avoid this type of transmission like a plague !!
Please do a Nissan Frontier when
you can .. Thanks oh and a Mazda 3
I agree, I hate the CVT. The reason car manufacturers went to CVT is because of Fed MPG mandate. Using CVT saves weight and increase MPG. The other problem with CVT is they wear out quick if the manufacturer uses cheap CVT. Nissan is notorious for using cheap CVTs and they barley last 65k. Replacing them will cost 5k not including labor.
Most of them cannot be rebuilt
arent CVTs supposed to help acceleration though? due to the fact that it keeps the RPMs where the engine makes peak power
Does anyone out there have any information on the new Toyota 4 cylinder engines like are they still burning oil ?
3:19 Scotty got protection in the back?
I bought my Civic for the gas mileage, so I don't mind the CVT at all. I had a stick for 25 years in my old Civic and it didn't get better gas mileage than my newer one. So I prefer the newer one.
Your CVT won’t make it 25 years, old is gold.
@@melissasmess2773 You may or may not be right, but I'm willing to take that chance. And so far it's been very good.
I’ve had two cvt from Toyota never a problem with either car 👍🏻
It’s all about consistency with cvts
Will keep the standard transmission...thanks
Is there a way to avoid CVT for new car purchases? Toyota has eCVT.
Buy old cars. The future is dystopian this is your last chance! I just got a 2008 Honda accord at 55k miles for 10k. I plan to drive this to the very end because I hate the infotainment, electronics and CVTs.
3:17 noticed the owner on the background
Is it worth it to import the 2016 CVT Civic to the Germany better than sell in US and buy a different in the Germany? Or is the soldier having free transport and free registration and plates from the army?
Funny hearing 2016 as an older vehicle, my truck is a 2000 model
Bro you can sport vintage plates
Mine is a 2000 Sienna
His wife's Lexus is a 2002.
These things can be 210 hp from the factory with it's current settings I think, just get a reflashed CPU, unleashes all the power
4:28 I have 2015 accord lx with 155k miles. No problem at all. Change my cvt fluid every 30kmile.
There is the problem. Mitsubishi told me the same story change it every 30,000 miles
I own a 2016 Honda Pilot. At 94,000 miles, the engine has a knocking rod. The year actually has a recall for bad rod bearings but not our vin supposedly. We put a good will request in to Honda and they denied any responsibility. Long story short, Honda is dead in my eyes.
You’re smart! I wouldn’t touch a pilot…..much better vehicles from other brands. Good luck
Toyota did same to me w a Corolla nothing but problems since brand new. Bad AC.. constant check engine lights never fixed emissionscodes three dealers couldnt or wouldnt fix it. Blew out exh. Manifolld 1k out of warranty wouldnt cover. Traded in w the same stupid check engine that was on and off since new they never fixed. Screw Toyota as well couldnt pay me to take one screw them.
shouldn't have bought a pilot
@@jtjoemamma thanks for pointing out the obvious.
@@CriticalThinker27 not obvious to you obviously 😂
Hi Scotty, would you recommend KYB quick struts????
Yes there a great replacement.
Consumer Reports said the 1.5 turbo did a better job of masking the faults of the CVT compared to the 2.0. But we know Scotty isn't a big fan of the turbo. So I guess with the Civic you can pick one or two "poisons" depending on what model you get. Oh boy!
Jeez my 24 is a ruff ride. My Corolla had a much more comfortable ride. Cvt was way better to. No lag feeling when coasting. Well Im stuck for 3 years. Thankfully I lease.
Did Scotty say he didn't like the CVT transmission?
I've a 2019 Honda Civic. 10 gen. 1 litre, 3 cylinder. Really annoyed now I know that after 6 years this type Civic car needs new cambelt at a cost of around £1500.
No mention of this when I bought car 😡
I'm not a mechanic but replacing gears with belts and pulleys won't end well.
I didn't catch what kind of transmission does the car have. LOL
I can understand Scotty talking just with his arm and hand movement.
I think you should tell us that you don’t like CVT’s
An italian cannot speak if you restrain his hands 😂😂😂 Scotty youre too funny ❤
I had a 2017 Civic with the 1.5 Turbo and CVT. Worse car I ever owned. I sold it within 2 years, could not stand the slow acceleration. The defrost was also awful in winter.
scotty you put it in normal D try it in Sports gear you will see the different
*Nobody that is breathing actually "like" the CVT transmissions*
Not to mention they are still a reliability concern.
Yup until they last 10 years easily we'll never know.
@@MrBottlecapBill forget about actual durability and reliability. Drivers hate the way they make the car feel.
I can’t with you… 😂
