The people who live in that Alberta town, should get rid of the town council or whomever implemented that ridiculous law about fining people who idle their vehicles for a certain period of time! That's the kind of thing that encourages more tyrannical government behavior and eliminates people's freedoms, very quickly! Insurance almost doubled over the past two years in republic of Ireland. They have too much power.

Yep, they're selling used cars with 30k, 40k, 50k, miles on them for $1,000 - $2,000 less than brand new cars of same make and model. The industry is just filled with scumbags.

I've been waiting these here 55 years for prices to drop.
I see the smaller used car dealers are really loaded up. Their lots are full. Will be interesting to see what happens.
Here in Florida the small stealerships have used vehicles with over 100,000+ miles on the odometers or ones ready for the scrap-yard.
One reason wholesale prices are down is because auctions are saturated with repossessions. Which are the dregs of the used car market. The new car market has died and nice used trade-in's are not being absorbed into the used car market.
Plus, those who have had repos cannot buy another vehicle until they clear up.their credit, so more people off the car buying market.

You can get SiriusXM for $3.99 to $5.99, but yeah, I hear you guys.
All manufacturers are going this route. GM is doing it with their apps and Super Cruise level 2 automation option.
They took away many app functions that are now only available with a subscription

In the late '70s, i joined my brother's family on a road trip from the eastern Toronto area to Atlantic Canada in his custom GMC van. Both directions we swung south and through the northern U.S. because he refused to drive through Quebec.

Eh, maybe wait four months. When dealers realize that tax refunds are going towards inflated cost groceries and record national credit card debt instead of auto purchases, they’ll start getting really uneasy. By then, the fed should also be cutting interest rates.

I watch the *"Whamm Tesla Cam channel"* , a lot of times when EVs get in accident, they completely total the EV car because the battery gets damage.
Had it been a *ICE vehicle* in the same accident, you get it repaired.
The insurance companies are passing the cost to evey car owner , if you own a EV or ICE vehicle.

I went to look at a 1987 k5 Chevy Blazer with no interior, rotted out floors, tailgate didn't work, no radio, cracked firewall, rusted oil dip stick, oil hasn't been changed in years. I asked the seller how much and he said $12,000. I told him good luck.

They haven’t dropped at all in Florida. In fact they have gone up and aren’t going down any time soon.
I feel you, I’m looking for a Used Car in Florida. The Prices are unbelievably HIGH. Asking 16,000 to 18,000 for 2014, to 2018 with 35,000 to 60,000 miles on em.

I just got a great deal on a 2021 Hrv with only 10k miles. Had to drive 200 miles but was $3k cheaper than anywhere else. Deals are starting to appear, but you still have to dig.
I told a dealership I saw an article that says it's the off season for SUV's and the dealer told me no that's not the case 🤔

I had a '66 Dodge Coronet whose headlights would suddenly go out. I would pull to the side of the road, and in the time it took to open the hood and look for loose wires and get back in and turn the lights on they would work again. This was before the internet so it took me a while to find out what was wrong. The rheostat for the lights was mounted on the firewall near the exhaust manifold and pipe. The rheostat would heat up and contacts would be lost. I got a new, improved rheostat and moved it away from the exhaust. Never had the problem again. But let me tell you, there are few things as exciting as loosing your headlights at night when you are cruising down a highway in rural Idaho on a Moonless night.
I can imagine, lol, something similar happened to us when I was growing up and my parents late model Audi suddenly lost all its lights on a pitch dark road in the countryside, many miles from town and any street lampposts! It was very distressing, to say the least! This was long before cellphones and everyone having a device in their pockets, that doubles as a flashlight! I was a young teenager at the time, and hadn’t ever experienced that, before that night. Wouldn’t have been so scary, if it had happened under a full moon 🌝, 😂, or in town, lol!
@@af.7992 When the headlights went out, I would start breaking and slowly move the vehicle to the right until I felt gravel and the straightened out and hope I stopped before there was another Dodge on the shoulder. Fortunately the roads were pretty straight.
Nailed it 100% about GM, my 2014 cruze: first year or two, nothing too major. Since then problem after problem after problem. Will be looking to replace it soon, next one will definitely not be from them.
Montreal is a major city in the province of Quebec. The traffic bylaws they set there do not apply in other cities and provinces, necessarily.

Hi scotty i can see a problem with that law in canda if can t idle a car for more 10 secs so dose that include sitting at traffic lights then your car be idlleing for more 10 secs waitting for lights to change

That was funny! It opened on my HD2500 as I was pulling onto a highway. 6 gallons of coolant, 10 gallons of diesel oil, and 6 31 series batteries all over the road. Semi trucks smashed some of it. Crazy.

2009- 2010 Hyundai Sonatas with 185,000 kms in and around the Toronto area,,,,,, used car dealers are presently 'asking' between $6,000 and $9,000. Back in 2015-'16, new car dealers were wholesaleing them for around $1100. I wish I lived closer to Clarksville Tennessee.
Don't hold your breath about used car prices. They're always a rip off here in AZ. I have two vehicles, ones a clunker. The other one is becoming a clunker 😂. When one needs repairs the other becomes the parts runner

Carvana offered me $20,100 for my 2020 Kia Niro LXS. I bought it for 22 , 400 3 years ago. Taking it to them tomorrow. I'm 7k in the plus. I can dump the full coverage insurance and all the forward collision lights coming on on the dash with no explanation. Just put 2k in my other vehicle with 48k miles, 2005. Cheap insurance and plates. New was good for a while, but just to many things that go wrong with them.

How about the guy that paid 5600? That had the water intrusion and the newer forward inside the tail light and it fried all the computer stuff and a back end. It cost him like fifty six hundred but he did neglect it too

Hey Scottie, please don’t lump Canadian citizens from Alberta (especially rural, we want nothing to do with WOKE IDEOLOGY) with citizens from Montreal, Quebec. They have the most hypocritical laws and politicians in that Province. They have wanted to separate from Canada for years, but at the same time, they still want to use the Canadian Currency and still get Transfer payments from the Western Provinces.

Mercedes had (until recently) a little known cool program, you could order parts for Mercedes cars back to the inception of the company! Once a year they fire up the plant to produce parts for orders received for parts for these vehicles. Mercedes dropped the program, since they are going to be an “electric car company”. And this one less reason to own a Mercedes too! 😢

I'm seeing local used car lots full with mostly high mileage SUV's, trucks that the loan guys won't finance. I used to see lots thin out when the income checks came in but not so this year. Evidently the dealers aren't financing like they used to and folks aren't getting back enough tax money to buy their cars outright.

I pay over $3000 per year for car insurance with a clean driving record. We have 4 old trucks/SUVS with liability coverage only. I have one teenage male driver, and I'm about to have two more. I'm scared!
There is only one solution. Put kids to work.
Yeah, rates are up! Mine went up too and we have 5 older cars. Reason was we filed for glass coverage and a fender repair? Hmmmm all those years of not filing anything down the drain!
Plus - weird - they told us that dropping from full coverage to liability only on two of our cars would RAISE rates?? This is with Geico. Problem was we could never nail down Geico on exactly what the payout would be for each vehicle if they “totaled it” due to an accident. Why carry full coverage on an 20 year old car or truck, if they total it and DO NOT REPAIR? Glad to pay for full coverage if they pay me the cost to buy a used vehicle of similar age and make, but they won’t guarantee that. See the issue is a new car is 30-50k$, so that’s the value proposition. Think about it.
BC already has this law about idling for more than ten seconds but it is rarely enforced

Two things on the 2003 Toyota Camry XLE V6 I bought, described below. The transmission shifts are funny. I have to drive slowly to give it time to get into the highest gear. Is it a throttle position sensor that needs adjusted or a revised software for the on board computer to fix this problem? Thanks Scotty
It's normal for toyotas to do this until they get up to operating temperature, it's in the program . It will feel more normal once spring arrives. 😊

@@timothyhoy8813 just drain and fill, just like changing your engine Oil, you'll probably get 4 quarts of ATF fluid out of the transmission, and hopefully that will help

I'll go the auction instead of private sellers. Private sellers are buried in loans, looking in the rear-view mirror prices and looking at KBB values that I actually see better prices at car lots.

Most auto auctions (the good ones) are closed to the public and only allow for those who own used car lots to participate. Otherwise the public would find out what car lots pay for their inventory.
Used cars are ridiculous, seen a 2004 honda crv 140k miles priced at $14,500.... Aint no way

I bet Teslas high amount of accidents is due to the fact that the stupid brake lights don’t come on when it regens. They get rear ended very often.
Tesla drivers drive fast, you see someone doing 45 in 35 it is always a Tesla.
The deals are out there, but you have to hunt for them and have your best negotiating skills primed. Wait until after tax season or better yet December 2024 and you won't have to work as hard to get a deal.
I always buy me cars from private owners, and have recommended it to everyone else, but off to the dealers they go, I have no payments and have excellent cars at very low prices and no loans,
