A self build cabin in the woods can be so romantic AND NOW we're building our own tiny house in our own woodland. Inspired by so many cabins it's time to get chopping wood, digging holes and getting this wooden cabin build off the ground!
We have a vision for a 2 story cabin with a high A frame style roof and a medieval inspired veranda and balcony. Follow along each week and watch us without any previous building skills we show you anyone can do it!

Glad to see the cabin vs a yurik that so many put up, and what you are building can be the beginning of a larger home as time goes by.

We researched yurts most will only last a few years in the sun here. So the plan is finish rosies cabin, then get on to the bathroom build, then we have a geodome to go up, then our cabin build! Around all that were, also doubling the size of the gatden/food forest and planting a market garden😬

We're going to start the toilet and bathroom from scratch bearish to rosies cabin. Then have a geodone to go up and then our own lil cabin

We had started building a bigger cabin but we couldn't get permission /approval. So are now build 3 separate smaller cabins

Closet thing to kind of building i know. Why not studs? Dont they have in Portugal and can u give us an idea on costs for the wood used. Thanks

The 10 by 7 timber was the only timber the yard had, you can get timber cut to other sizes and the timber typically used say in the uk and commonly available there just isn't here. Equally can't find house wrap or membrane easily here either. On the cost very very expensive for wood and much of it is the worst wood ever mainly due to the weather it twists. Will add up costs when we're finished and do a full video on it all

no vapour barrier in the build between the osb panels and the shiplap boards , mould may get in there .

We looked at this, and because of our extreme weather here, the barrier is more detrimental than beneficial

@@TheWildlandersOffGrid your mistaken , the wood holds moisture and so does the air , morning mists etc , besides a vapour barrier doesn't cost much . Anyway , I am enjoying your videos 👌

We're still debating, it's actually hard to source here as well, but the 3 exposed walls we may use something like dupont house wrap if we can find it, but it's rarely used here in wood/cabin builds
