It is a learning process. Fun one, as long as you keep safe! I'm reminded that I had experienced people teach me when I was young and I'm grateful. Now we have the help of UA-cam. Just be aware that things can go wrong real fast and be prepared for it. That fact makes it better in my opinion. We come from a long line of people that did this with so much less.. 😁👍🏻

This was the best DIY of a cabin by one person I have ever seen. I knew you had skills but this takes the cake. I will never doubt you or your skills and abilities. I started watching the first episode but got board. Watch a little bit of the second, but watched all of this one and was quite impressed. I rebuilt a small cabin about that size several years back. It sat up on a hill overlooking the creek, a hill that had never seen water on top of it. 2017 and Harvey hit. Flooded the cabin and flipped it over, filling it with water and eventually mold. My buddy who helped me rebuild it, helped to flip it back over. It was a total loss. We haven't really messed with it since. Now after having seen this, I may go tear it down and build something else down there to be able to have some fun with my little boy.

    * Thirdly, being a non trades individual I think you did a pretty good job. Your also right on someone being able to do this with a little knowledge and common sense. The problem is that common sense isn't too common these days.

If you add a mattress on top of the plywood, drill some holes in the plywood base for ventilation to keep the mildew/mold at bay from any condensation build-up. Consider a 12V RV fridge for a low power consumption. i.e. Alpicool, Dometic, Iceco, etc. . Also, consider a USB rechargeable water dispenser for the sink. pumps from a 5 gallon water container.

I'm 54 and I've worked with corrugated steel most of my adult life. I've had to hand cut so many panels. Now I've got 3 nebblers. One on the roof one on the ground at the staging area, and a set in reserve for a backup.
I'll never go back to hand cutting. Those nibblers are nice and much more efficient.

I'm really glad you decided to make this video. Screw the algorithm, do what you wanna do. I'm happy to hear about future plans too. This is particularly inspiring to me at the moment cuz I'm trying to finish my own on grid place in the woods, my goal being to eventually make it off grid capable. Also pretty rad you can play your Atari in there lol ftw. Thanks as always brother Shawn. God bless

Reminds me of my dad's cabin. He had a wood stove in it that he made out of a 55 gallon drum, with juicy juice number 10 cans riveted together as a chimney. Good memories spending time there.

Outstanding, Shawn! Every man needs a base of operations surrounded by nature. I’ve got to laugh at your video game choice. I’m with you… as soon as Nintendo jumped to the 2nd generation controller that took more than just my two thumbs to play, I lost interest and watched my kids pass me by! 😂 After your first night in the bunk with the fan, I’m curious if you are considering either a 2nd window or a screen door for cross circulation? Cheers! 👍👍👍 ~John

Very nicely done. My only worry would be a strong windstorm flipping it (happened to a similar setup my dad made when I was a kid), but hopefully siding on the bottom will reduce the chances of that. 👍

In my neck of the woods we’d screen in that little verandah out the front so you could sleep out there on those balmy nights. That place is awesome. Great work.

I don't know the humidity factor / levels in your area, but have you thought of mildew control etc for matresses and all that?Fantastic video man, i truly like seeing someone who has talent and know-how all across the board in life. You're a great educator! Thank you

I could write a comment big as a book but to put it in a nutshell: big respect, not only for building this cabin, but for sleeping in it during the rain (it would be way, way to loud for me ^^) and damn, this collection of old Atari games. it's just outstanding. If I haven't already subscribed I would do now for sure 😎

Good on you for buying a Japanese made tv and not some jank Chinese or Korean tv, smart choice. Excellent cabin and just proves that something nice can be made simply.

Out of all the cabin build videos I’ve been watching I gotta say I’ve enjoyed yours the most. It “looks” simpler yet better than the others.

Thank you so much for these informal videos, you make it look so simple. I love the cabin and in just 10 days you built it, that's awesome. I purchased the "Bush Craft 101" about 2 years ago, thanks. Please keep the videos coming. Thank you so much. Blessings.
