Hey suede, just giving my opinion on this video style: For me, I really like the unedited single player playthroughs as it builds a great amount of suspense and build up and makes watching wars and stuff way more satisfying.
Ok, noted.
I think I might use this style for multiplayer games (where I have issues with viewer retention) but not for single player.

The full version isn't especially good here because I wasn't talking much. I used my comments as cues for the editing. Like, I fast forwarded until I heard myself talking, then included that. There was a 20 minute segment where video capture wasn't even on. There was also a couple reloads for full disclosure.
He also reloaded an old save :P

Ive been perfectly ok with playing on chieften and monarch for the last 7 or 8 years but man seeing you do this kind of stuff makes me want to get better

I've heard a lot of people pronounce "cavalry" as "Calvary", but this is the first time I've heard of "cavlary"
This is actually my favorite way to play civ 3 but what i do is play the scenario medieval start with so many cramped cities and nations. During the start there is this massive wonder race to build all the wonders and then it's a huge grind conquest.

i always love just city-state games when I play civ 3 very fun with the ancient age mod (can't think of it at the top of my head).

No almost - I would make it a (large?) continents map against one Sid civ - this would deprive suede of his tech trading merry go round and let the AI really get going before there’s a chance to kill it:-)

Would you be able to play The Ancient Mediterranean mod? I believe it's TAM 2.6. Doesn't have to be the one with the Mediterranean map itself, can be the random world map, but, I figured it would be interesting to see your strategy in regards to the way it plays. It's extremely limiting with many things, so, the "ancient" era (starting era) takes a bit longer to get through.

Go to world sizes. Set ever size to tiny 60x60, number of civs = 31
i wish u did this on archi just so we could see if any1 spawned on a 1 land tile island

Yeah I won't be using this for single player games in the future. There's a lot of benefits but if reception is mixed there's no point in spending that much time on this.

I can't find the video for some of the most recent streams, such as yesterday's, will you post them eventually? I'm not sure if they're here somewhere and I'm being stupid, because it seems like I could have watched it yesterday, but can't find it anymore.
Yesterday's was a mess, the MP game kept freezing and we scrapped.

Suede CivIII the map setup doesn’t matter to me, I was just interested to see you showcase the slave farming strategy you mentioned exists (in you UU video) and what you would be able to do with all the slaves - faster development, add them to city growth, trade with them, or just save a pile of goal when not paying for workers at all? :-)
@@ulle85 Good point. Maybe I could do islands, and leave a patch of land for barbs to spawn?
Suede CivIII Yes, maybe you should ensure to box the barb camps in with a javelin thrower placed NW? (The AI will likely hunt down the barbs if you don’t - you could even spin it as being a protector of indigenous people and their holy grounds and even offering them work (albeit at 0gp) if they chose to stray from their tribal ways and become violent/criminal ;-)
I guess you could use forts to increase the life of your javelin throwers NW of each barb camp on each island :-D
Will an army have enslavement if it consists only of javelin throwers? I guess you would end up with many at elite level

Sea tiles count towards score too.

I have but it wasn't a very good playthrough and I privated it. ToT is massive and it would be hard to record a satisfying playthrough. The map size is just too big.

This makes me feel like such a noob tho even though I played civ 3 for like, 7 years haha but never was able to go beyond monarch idk why. I tried Sid, once, and was destroyed in like 12 turns lmao to be fair I made it an impossible game on purpose: mountainous, tiny map, 80 Pct water, arid, cold, raging barbarians, and I played as korea and my opponents were the Zulu, Aztecs, Japan, germany, and Vikings
The settings here are actually favorable to the human player I'd say. The AI can't run away with the game because they lack the tactics to take cities for KOs, and they drown themselves in unit support costs.
Suede CivIII Well, whatever the case, this was an awesome video and seems like an even more awesome game haha. I miss being able to play civ 3, the Mac version I have doesn’t even support civ 3 on steam I hate it
