I've been in touch with Chris occasionally since last September, waiting hopefully for Laos to join Thailand and Cambodia in eliminating the quarantine requirement. I've been very impressed with the the rapidity of his replies to my inquiries and the vast amount of information he provides in very clear communications outlining the visa/COE process, quarantine hotel listings and air travel. Please have him back on as a guest as Laos continues the process of opening up once again for long term visitors. Thanks.

G’day mate, contacted Chris a couple of weeks ago to get information on how to enter Laos now. He was very helpful, sent me all the information I needed and is going to help once I’m ready. I’m in Sydney and my girlfriend is in Vientiane, looking to move permanently too Laos, this situation delayed me on doing this. Iv been trying to avoid the 14 day quarantine but looks like I’ll just have to do it as not waiting any longer to come over, good thing is I’m coming for 3 months to start the permanent move, all good information is so helpful, just getting a flight from Sydney to Vientiane is so hard, Thai Airways are apparently starting flights on 1st of April but anything can change as we all know lol. Thanks again and hopefully catch up for a beer once I’m there mate, take care 🙏

Big thanks to Chris for helping me out a few days ago. I was told (on the phone) by someone in a visa office that I had to go across the border to renew my SP-B3 visa. This would have been tricky as I had no exit permit, which you don't need if you are living here permanently. Chris advised me that was not true, which put my mind at rest. In this part of the world you wont find many happy to give advise, while knowing they wont make any money out of you. So thanks Chris for the help saving me an unnecessary trip to VT.

Unfortunately, after viewing the extensive list of conditions the government is requiring visitors to comply with, it's just not feasible for anyone who wants to travel there for a short stay with a small group or even solo. Will reassess in a few months. Todd if you know of a good florist there let me know please mate.

This was back in January. I realize, Lao PDR us fully open now. I also heard that Lao Born with other country citizenships can enter easier. Such as 1/2 price and being able to stay longer. Please send me the link to the details if there are any. I will arrive in Lao on the 4th of August and applying for visa on arrival at VTE for a Lao born Canadian. Happy to register your visa under a lao entity or company, if AAV is an NGO or government entity it typically takes 3-4 months to process your entry & visa, in these cases we usually assist foreigners to enter Laos under our sponsorship with a three month visa, enough time once in Laos to then switch to the entity you work for Does this answer your question?

Laos government has special rules for ex Laos citizens, if you wish to visit or return to the place of your birth. I have lived in both the Laos and the US, and would not hesitate to return to Laos if I was you.

And if so will it be more user friendly for two week tourists? Alternately...if I was to enter on the current tourist visa and wanted to use a tourist guide/driver to get around rather than travel with a group...does that guide have to be certified? Yes 2nd phase in April, maybe less restrictive we’ll see but I suspect driver will be needed. If you are ready to pay for a certified driver why not enter with a COE + visa instead? Probably about same cost

You cannot enter Laos yet for a quick visit, unfortunately! Re. Being Thai there is no ASEAN travel bubble yet so you are considered as a foreigner and need a COE to stay long term or visit your family

I understand we have to get CEO but can we quarantine at home (vangvieng) rather than a Vientiane hotel? I know certain people have been able to do this in VTE. I would be driving my own car so wouldn’t need come into contact with anyone on my return. I know this is a grey area but any advice would be much appreciated.
Your employer would need to request the quarantine reduction on your behalf and for the whole family. Not sure MOFA / Task force will give you the go ahead to leave to vang vieng early
Funny, I applied for an e Laos visa, through the Lao Embassy in Washington DC. After paying a fee, I was granted a visa. I will be in Laos August 5, 2022. I don't see any restrictions on the e Visa.
isn’t it amazing Laos government has no clue just like any other government. This crappy policy will change depends on how much you spend. My friend enter Laos 2 months ago no problem without any restrictions. He visa is traveler.
No restrictions if you enter with a COE, it’s actually very easy as just passport picture, vaccine certificate & hotel reservation are needed :-) We take care if the rest hassle free!

If you ask the hotel and add her to the reservation they usually agree for both of you to stay together, it’s a quarantine so she won’t be able to leave until it’s over
Not at all! Firstly you can enter Laos by land in Nongkhai and either fly there for 50$ or take the train which offers a nice experience. Also there are regular flights now sin-vte or bkk-vte for 100$ one way Many of my clients were quoted one way trips to Vientiane airport from both Europe and USA for under 1.000$ I don’t know where you inquired about flights but you post is inacurate

I am from the USA too. I'm looking to buy a house in Laos. I saw brand new houses listed for $96,000. That's way cheaper than America. I can pay off that house in 8 years. I plan to retire in 2042. My house will be ready for me by then.
You can get a house built to your specifications for the same sort of money, it takes up to a year to get one built.

Firstly you can enter Laos by land in Nongkhai and either fly there for 50$ or take the train which offers a nice experience.
Also there are regular flights now sin-vte or bkk-vte for 100$ one way
Many of my clients were quoted one way trips to Vientiane airport from both Europe and USA for under 1.000$
