Glad you and your dad are having a great time in Laos! I've been to Cambodia, Singapore and Malaysia, but Laos, Vietnam and Thailand are on my bucket list.
You totally have to check them all out! Vietnam and Thailand are star standout favourites for me with so much to do and Laos so far is kind of like a beautiful hidden gem because there’s not that many tourists here
Hi Alina,
Great informative video. We have flown Vietnam Airlines from Sydney to Vietnam to both Ho Chi Minh and direct to Hanio. We found them to be an excellent airline good service, food and presentation of the plane. Last trip we were lucky to jag a cheap upgrade to premium economy which was fantastic
Looking forward to the rest of your Laos videos. Are you planning to do a Live Stream in Laos
Cheers
LOVE your dad - what a trooper! I’m 67 and I know I would not survive a trip like that! 😊 great content - all the best to you and your dad! Rob
Thunder Bay
Thank you very much!
Hey Alina, you are one of the greatest ladies on earth since you care so much for your Dad. It is indeed very unique. You will get a lot of blessing from God for taking good care of your Dad.
Thank you!
Luang Prabang is an absolute gem of a city. Those restaurants overlooking the river are very magical. Was there 11 years ago so would be interested in seeing what changes have occurred in that time, particularly now that the railway from China has been built. Found it so interesting that the cost of the visa on arrival varies depending on which country one comes from. For some reason, Canadians were charged the most! Not sure if that is still the case. Congrats on finding such a nice hotel. Am surprised at the price as it seemed very reasonable. Enjoy your visit!
They actually just changed the rules to $40 USD for all foreigners because I was expecting the different rates as well. And we also did try the railway and will have a whole video about it coming out soon!
@@AlinaMcleod Thanks for the reply and update on the visa upon arrival rates! Looking forward to your next video!
Your Laos adventure with your dad looks absolutely amazing! I'm impressed by how you managed the travel logistics, especially opting for a flight over a long bus journey. The insights on visa processes and local culture are super helpful. It's great to see a less-traveled destination through your eyes, and your dad's presence adds such a warm, familial touch to the journey. Appreciate your fantastic share!❤
It's good to see you giving so quality time to your dad. He must be really happy
We are having a lovely time!
@@AlinaMcleod Great 👍
I'm so proud of you and i'm so happy ❤❤❤ keep going !

Thanks for sharing your experience in Southern East of Asia as that spot is full of wonders and yes we all need to visit there and enjoy them
It sure is, thank you!
Hi dad and Alina season greetings merry Christmas to you and family❤🎉😮
Thank you! Happy holidays to you as well!
Will be interesting to see how developed Laos is as has modernised in recent times, hopefully I can learn something as you tour Laos Alina, stay safe have fun both of you, much love ✌️❤️🇬🇧
It has been very surprising so far!
Hi Alina! 😁🙏👋🌟 I hope your having a marvelous day! This really is a wonderful fantastic video! 😄👍❤️👏📹🇱🇦🥇💯💫✨🌟 Laos is truly amazing! Also the hotel room suite looks very nice! Even the view of Mekong River is absolutely magnificent! Thank you very much Alina to share with us this excellent video. You are the best and greatest world traveler adventurer! 😃👍👏✈️🌎📹🥇💯🏆💫🌟 I wish you Alina and your Dad a wonderful super marvelous blessed day. Enjoy your visit in Laos! 😊🙏❤️👋🇱🇦👍✨🌟
Thank you very much!
Wow. Lao is more relaxed and it helps your dad keeping pace with you better than in Hanoi or Sapa. I like that your dad never complained about with anything, he just goes with the flow. you get to slow down a bit so he can keep up on the way. very good video, thank you.
He is a great traveller!
I'm so glad that you make this click. I am Hmong but born in Laos and came to the USA in 1980. I plan to take my family to Laos to visit my uncle in the summer 2024. Thank you for the info and have a nice vacation.
Alina & Dad McLeod God Bless 🎄🎄🎄❤
Well done nice Video.😊
a couple of years ago when we were there you can get up early in the morning and go feed the monks rice. cant remember exactly where it is but it is in the center of town. you can buy the rice from other people who are also there.
Hi Alina, love your videos and content. I saw on another content creator site a switch to eSIM and the provider was Airalo. The packages were reasonably priced, love your dad as well😊
Airlo is super cool and would recommend it if the local sim cards weren't so cheap. You get way more data for a lower price with local sims overall in south east asia. In Western Europe or Australia or something, esims are the way to go.
The future is electric ❤
Je me souviens!
Wishing you and your family a warm christmas and a damn good holiday season 🎉
Thank you so much and likewise!
Great to see you in S.E. Asia again!!! I hope your dad is enjoying the atmosphere. About the currency exchange, I just checked today, December 14, 2023, it is 582.81 Kip = 1 Thai Baht, and it is 35.17 Thai Baht to 1 USD.
Hoi, Alina, really great work. Laos is not on the Visited Countries list by now. Pretty interesting to see you´re experience. Done VN/VietnamAirlines also, good experience. About the point with the no window at a window seat, it´s clearly visible for the staff at the seatchart. Greetings to you and you´re company. More please, you know, Markus
Great info. I'm in Hanoi now, and will leave for Vientiane next month.
We've flown Vietnam Airlines Sydney to Hanoi twice plus some local flights. All good.
HELLO,ALINA &ALINA'S DAD! YOU ARE DOING 👍,I ❤ YOU!
So great that your Dad is doing this (travelling in SE Asia, again) rather than that (enduring Canadian winter).
Writing you memory book.
Definitely 🙂
Enjoy 🖒😃
Thanks for this very informative video. Am going to Laos in March 2024 and having a hard time applying fot its evisa online. I ‘ll just try VOA like what you and your Dad did. Good job!
My pleasure! Hope you have a great trip!
You can ride the train to Luang Prabang from Vientiane. Takes about an hour and a half to two hours. It stops at Vang Veing alone the way.
Hi, I’m from Bokeo, Laos. Have fun with your journey 😂🎉😊
I just love how close you are with your father ❤ amazing bonding experiences. If your dad loved the Ha Giang loop you might consider the Thakhek loop or the Pakse loop in Southern Laos. Enjoy your travels
Btw I once took the bus from Vientiane to Hanoi. Longest bus ride of my life 😂
Thank you very much!
Thanks for sharing 🎉
I was born in Laos but came to Australia when I was 6 years old I’m from Vientiane but my wife is from Luang Prabang we hope to go there soon and try out the high speed train. I hope you and your dad enjoy Laos.
That's awesome! The train is fantastic
Thank you for visiting Luang Prabang and sharing the good vibes of Luang Prabang. My hometown ❤I miss it 😢 I been back once since I left home to USA 🇺🇸 the last time I visited was 25yrs ago it’s long time. The city has changed a lot, more people visiting now and it’s still peaceful place ❤❤❤😊😊😊Mekong River is a great vibe 👌relaxing place 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Alina , love your video in Luang Prabang i have spent time there myself and it is a very spiritual and calming place.
It is such a great little city
I imagine the terrain, road conditions, and multiple stops are the reasons why it would take 24 hours to travel by bus from Vietnam to Laos as opposed to only an hour by air. Interesting to see where you take us through Laos and see what the country has to offer, as it is not generally high on the list of tourist destinations.
Yes, it's a very mountainous terrain and hard to get through so definitely worth it to fly in my opinion.
Good video, I am a huge fan of Luang Prabang. I chuckled when you were eating the som tam. I ask for mine with no chili and it is still really spicy there because the mortar and pestle is saturated with chili oil. Lao people love it spicy!
I once flew on a budget airline from Lunang Prabang to Hanoi. It was a relatively small turboprop and I was somewhat bemused to see that everyone was sitting in the back half of the plane.
In Australia cabin crew generally spread passengers out on small planes to balance the load. I asked if I could move up to the front of the plane.
A nice family outing in Laos! 🙌🆒️🇱🇦
Good to see you back to form, Alina. It seems to be a nice place indeed. What's the temperature like this time of year? What a view from that restaurant!
Temperature in Luang Prabang was amazing the whole week about 20-30 degrees and no rain!
@@AlinaMcleod Very nice temperature indeed.
I just came back home from Laos recently. During my 2 months in Laos and Vietnam, although there are thousands of Westerners , I only met two American so far.
Hi Alina,
Great informative video.
We have flown with Vietnam Airlines from Sydney to Vietnam to both Ho chi Minh and direct to Hanio and found them to be an excellent airline good food, service and plane presentation. Last trip we jagged a cheap upgrade to premium economy which was fantastic
Looking forward to the rest of your Laos videos
Are you planning to do a live stream in Laos
Cheers
That sounds fabulous! Yes, will actually be doing a livestream from Vientiane this Sunday evening north america time!
I hope you & your dad would enjoy your time in Laos. Don't miss Vang Vieng, Luangprabang, Vientiane, and Pakxe.
I was a pilot for an air charter company in Laos in the early 70s. Spent many overnights in Luang Prabang. Very primitive and rural in those days but always enjoyed it.
Hi Alina, very nice vlog.
I am happy for you to have your Dad with you.
My question is, how safe is it over there ... any safety issues ???
So far no safety issues go as far as people, very kind and honest. Some of the infrastructure is questionable though 😅 especially in Vang Vieng
@@AlinaMcleod Alina, thank you for your response, it is good to know that you are safe as well ....
An interesting video of a place I know nothing about. So your travels will be a window on a part of the world I have read a little about.
Happy to be and hope you get to visit here sometime!
That is one thing I noticed in Vietnam a 2 hour domestic flight is probably a third of the price or less of a one hour international Vietnam flight hence why so many take the Saigon to Phnom Penh bus rather than fly.
Chào mừng bạn đến với Việt Nam
Awesomee
I’ve flown Vietnam Airlines many times, including to the USA and Thailand. They’re always good, but they are also a bit expensive.
The Vietnam air was great great food great service.. United States Airlines it's like you're flying in an old wreck looking at the wiring and installations through the crack in the fuselage... Vietnam air has new planes
alina Mcleod nice viaje to laos nice , ciudad, areas Verdes, comida, rio , mercado y te miras bonita! con tu camisa 💙
Hello Alina,
Welcome to Laos! I am already excited, what Your impressions are.
I guess attending the morning routine of the monks is not your most favorite time of getting up 🙂
Regarding flying long distance with Vietnam Airlines. I did it and it was a normal service. We got blankets and food and entertainment. The flight was with a 777 which had electronic window shades. Thy centrally closed the window shades for the night but sadly didn’t open them again in the morning 🙁 until the plane almost was on the ground.
Best regards, Ralf
haha yeah I did not manage to get up early for the alms but I did go to a very unique experience about learning more about Theravada Buddhism in another way that will be in the LP video.
Loved, loved, loved Luang Prabang. It reminds me of the movie Somewhere in Time, and in LP, always reminds me of a moment in time back in history and where time stood still, no hustle bustle, and relaxation. So peaceful and full of history. It's my husband hometown where he was born. We have been there two times. First time in 2014 , the husband and I, and second time with our kids in 2017. We are coming back to LP in a couple of month in May, 2024. Can't wait.
I never forgettable oneday i met you take a picture
Nice video Alina😀
Will you come to Thailand to celebrate Christmas or count down to the New Year at the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok? It would be a nice time for you and your dad to visit Thailand during this time of the year. ❤
Yes, we will be in Thailand for the holidays!
Thanks for bringing us Laos! I am once again in Macedonia visiting friends and family. We’re going to visit Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, and Greece again. Enjoy your trip!
That's awesome, have a great time!
Your are beautiful Alina ❤😊🎉
❤❤❤❤
I flew from Melbourne to Saigon then on to Saigon in November 23 and found them first class. I had to claim my baggage and get it on to my flight to Saigon, which was a little confusing and a bit of a hassle.
Luang Prabang is a charming city for sure .. Vientiane has loads of modern activities plus structures going on due to the influx of Mainland China people as well as funds.. I preferred the quaintness in the South of the region of the 4,000 islands (Pakse region) enjoy your time in this rustic country 🙏🙏😊 .. oh yeah try the new bullet train from LP to Vang Vieng to Vientaine .. there are 3 categories of seats and in my humble opinion all are about the same 😉
Good for your dad for avoiding beer.
Very curious on this country as I have worked with a few people from this country. Most people don't want to return except to visit.
Hope you're having a great time in Lao. Friendly People. Great Outdoor Markets. Hope you're there for Hmong Festival. Sending you Hugs🫂 and Kisses from Harriet, Jim and Yuki
Thanks guys!
Nice video, All the best Alina and All the very best for your Dad, he is good :) Thank You.
I have a question. You have traveled alone for a long time, how do you like traveling and hanging out with your Dad?.
Thank you! I travel well with my Dad because we are super comfortable with each other and he is cool to let me do my own thing a lot which I need. I like solo travel once in a while though to just center myself but traveling with the right company is just amazing! Anyone who I’m not super comfortable with or like, I would never want to travel with just to have someone around though 😅
Sounds great ;) one more thing Alina, I Love your Blue eyes ............😍 sorry if you mind it. :)
Also you should visit Los Angeles CA 😀
Laos 😊❤❤
The "S" is silent in Laos.
Just left Luang Prabang today, our guide was born there and he told us all that the country’s name is Laos (yes you pronounce the “s”), the people are called Lao you do not pronounce the (s). So in the different pronunciations, one refers to the country, and the other its people.
You can tell them how many pepper you want in the papaya. I prefer just 2.
Took the train from Hanoi to Luang Prabang through china. Nice area.
Very cool!
Damn you're balling 😂 big spender oi troi oi 😱
bienvenue au Laos
Question about the lounge buffet. Is that available and open for everyone or do you have to hold a certain cards or do you have to pay? We are going to Vietnam, Laos and Thailand in May, 2024 so I am excite to learn about every in and out of these lounge. Thanks.
I'm not sure if this lounge is open to anyone who would pay a fee, but if you get Priority Pass, that is the main membership that will give you lounge access all over the world. I get mine through having an AMEX Platinum card, but you can sign up for PP as a standalone thing. Happy travels!
Vietnam Airlines is not considered a budget airline. It is up there with Qantas and Singapore Airlines.
I have flown Sydney to Saigon and domestically to Danang and Hanoi and hope to fly direct from Sydney to Hanoi next year.
Yeah I'd love to try it out long haul sometime.
Hi Alina. When you got the visa at the Laos border, did they put a big sticker on your passport pages using up the whole passport page? I remember they did in 2019 when I last went to Laos. Cambodia and Vietnam just use small ink stamps now and have stopped the big stickers on passport pages.
Yeah I got a big sticker
@@AlinaMcleod Thanks for your reply and info.
Laos being a Buddhist country, pls make sure to show us some Buddhist temples. Thanks
Hey old friend, are you okay? Are you visiting Laos? Have a nice trips
