This is a well sort after educational video of knowledge and substance and most needed to help those who have a desire to retire in Laos. Right up my alley. This is what people want to hear. I'm willing to bet 99% of the westerners who come to the great land of Laos do not even think about what is discussed in this intuitive video. How can anybody make a maneuver in life if they do not have the necessary steps and ingredients laid out before them? Look at such a move across the globe as a game of chess. You will run into opposition. And you're going to have to learn how to work around it. Never mind the videos of glamor covered with lipstick and make-up. They are on the entertainment level. Save that for Friday night at the movies. Having the 'one on one' discussion with the gentleman in this video can give one a head start to begin the procedure to assist their adventure and voyage of relocating to Laos. Being that this video/conversation took place several years ago, I am certain additional new legal steps have been adopted and certainly not in favor of making the simplification process any easier for the foreigner. Being that the current economic dilemma of Laos is in a mix and the influx of foreigners seen as an opportunity to add on additional requirements any such changes in laws means added fees hence, more revenue collected. The more restrictions implemented by government officials the more the foreigner is going to think that they're getting something in return by taking longer and filing more forms. And so the more they will go along with paying. What a welcome. The gentleman giving the description of the many do's and don't's is intelligent on that subject of the above. He is honest and too be trusted. This is the person who anyone would want to sit down with so that each step during their process of entry is addressed correctly regarding the format of simplification of retiring in Laos and even making the bigger leap of possible marrige. Don't think just because you have something that the natives lack that you're going to be seen as somebody special. Laws only work if applied to everyone. My advice on marriage for anyone making the move with that in mind is to please be sure that you're getting into the right situation with the right family. Be sure that it's not for any other reason except for what you're proposing. As well, be sure of those who you allow into your orbit. This is where the word of one's level of "trust' is reviewed. You have the right to request that anyone who you welcome around you is there to serve you and vice versa - within reason. I would make it very clear at the very beginning of any serious move that you are marrying the person of interest and that you will certainly not be taking care of the whole family. This is out of the question. Present in writing numbers 1 through 25 what you expect from this relationship and have her do the same so the two can work together to form a unit of harmony, respect and friendship. Then sign and date it. Take it out of the file cabinet and review it when you observe a continous trend fallin off the rails. These are the same procedures of any other business that you lay on the table before any business contract sees it's signature. Being that a legal marriage requires a contract recognized by the community or province, it then is also defined as a business. Marriage is a business when a contract seals the deal. You can second guess it all you want at your own prevail. Any graces that you deliver to a particular family member of that family will be on your watch. It should be stipulated clearly that your new bride of a different culture who does not think the way you do and who does not see life the way you do is there to serve you and vice versa so as to have the two come together as a united friendship. It is imperative that anyone who you take under you wing be trusted and be there to serve you in the future while you help them - within reason. I have seen foreigners get bit. They had no other option than to turn around and walk away. Why? Because the home that was built and the property that was purchased via the wife's hand was not his - even though he paid for it. You can take the home if you wish but the land is in her name or in the name of another in her family. You may as well sign your bank account over to them while you are at it. In general, men are weak but only because they care about the person who they want to be the supplier for. The thanks is what they get in return for being too gullible. They didn't take the time to compute the possible 'ifs' of the future. How many times have we heard: 'no good deed goes unpunished.' On another note I have met westerners along the way in various southeast countries while trying to make my way through life. Most of them were there for the night life only while exhibiting and leaving their trail of arrogance behind. They left a stain for other Americans who were more down to earth and serious about making a permanent move to that particular country. It's unfortunate that some westerners discolor the ambience and leave behind unkind traits. The native people are left with that image as they deduce that other Americans may have the same tactless character. Have fun and enjoy yourself and please remember even though you paid for your holiday you're a guest. Be kind to the natives and don't forget to do your homework.

Same as Cambodia, it seems not that hard to get into with a good visa agent. So true about living in a place for at least 6 months before commiting. Know so many people who have sold everything and went all in, then a year later they want to come home. Being in Cambodia for 18 months would definitely use Cambodia as a home base. Great Vlog, really enjoyed it.
what is the situation getting into Cambodia from the United States at this time and the costs for quarantine. What Thailand has to offer is a scam and a nightmare for expats with families trying to return home.

Thanks for this, very informative. I'm currently working on a big job that I hope to finish early or mid 2022 and was hoping to take a year or two off and grab a one way ticket to Asia and travel around a bit for a few months and then spend a year in one country while I do an online certification program. I had been looking at Cambodia primarily due to the visa situation there, but after doing a small job a few weeks ago, I ended up having a chat with a retired Filipino/American couple who own land in both the Philippines and America. While I was telling them of my plan and interest in Cambodia they suggested that I look into doing that in Laos. I really would like a multi-entrance visa as one of my best friends lives and works in Malaysia and would really love to visit a few times a year rather then once every two to three years like I do now. I'm hoping the Covid situation gets more under control by next year.
Thank you, Very nice program, excellent informative about type of visa and staying permit. I am considering to stay in Laos during Northern winter month, after they find the way to live with the viruses. I like Laos and the people, very peaceful live. I traveled there few years ago.

Do you kniw whats going on in Thailand? It is a big mess at the moment and very risky what are you doing. Wow awesome video and great information from Chris, definitely answered a lot of questions for me and will be the man I see to organise myself in the future. Awesome tunes on the harmonica and such a chilled back arvo you both had, keep up the good work mate. 👍
Greeting from California, am from Pakse but live in the States now. Chris and Todd are right, Laos is not for everybody and for those who don't like the video in here. Great info, Thanks.
You can pick em, he's a cool bloke. Good to see a wealthy man smelling the roses!
Well done guys!! Chris is the man, he gets my visa sorted without any issues every year.
Thanks & happy to be of service!
Some really interesting and vital information there to digest, A very useful video to go back too. 👍👍
Thanks Peter
I’m first times.love you chanel.thanks you sharing with us I love Laos.
Much appreciated Todd for talking with Chris about the processes for us to get back to Laos. Thanks Chris for telling us about your services 🙏
No worries Philip.. man, I bet you can't wait to get back over here. Hope you're all good down there mate 👍
@@NowinLao Hey Todd, actually waiting it out in wonderful Thailand. Will contact Chris to see how he can help my situation.
@@philipstyles8136 oh ok.. did you see the "pinned" comment at the top?
Great interview and thank you for sharing !! Definitely will reaching out to Chris for more information.
Great video. Very informative, well paced, and detailed. Thanks! PRD = please don't rush! Love it! If I can't return to my home in Thailand when I want due to Covid restrictions I think I'll use the services offered by Chris and simply sit it out in Laos! Who knows, perhaps Covid never will simply evaporate.....I also appreciate the love of life shown by Chris and, most of all, the sheer respect he shows for both Laos and Laotians. The world - and SE Asia, and especially Indochina - needs more people like this.
That was a fantastic information video! Thank you for sharing. I will defiantly be in contact with Mr. Chris.
New subscriber here from Auckland. Love your channel, it gets better every time. Great stuff
Great to hear Paul. Welcome aboard mate, thanks 👍
thank you, todd! very informative... tell chris, love the harmonica; yes, todd add some of his music as your background.
Hello Todd and Chris, many thanks for this very informative information regarding types of visas. We will definitely going to contact you for your help in obtaining visas for us to stay in Laos once the surge of corvid slows down in the states. You both make a great team! Please stay safe and thanks again for sharing this great topic. P.S Chris you sound pretty good playing your harmonica!
Good advice, open and honest. without hassle or bustle
I married in 2006 engaged in 2003 and have 2 kids together. no worries, but PLEASE learn the language
Very enlightening, thanks Todd and Chris.

Todd, many thanks for the clarification. Very informative, 🙏
A very informative episode. Thanks Todd & Chris for making the time to do this. Cheers.
No worries Jordo 👍
Thanks. Love the emphasis on respect. What a great guy! I can see he loves Laos
What an awesome interview. Entertaining and full of great information--and such a great vibe from Chris. Will watch it again to take in the full scope of this deep dive. Many thanks for connecting us. Keeping my fingers crossed that my November air tix will be usable. Going to be tight...93 days and counting. Cheers!
Thanks Michael. Met with Chris again on the weekend. The follow-up video will be ready in a few hours.. 👌
Really interesting chat , Chris seems a good man to know 👌 - Between both of you priceless knowledge - Enjoyed it Todd - great video 😎🇦🇺👌🙏👍
That's some good info you're sharing! I'm in Thailand right now, travelling about. It doesn't seem that there are any options open for me. To go backpacking in Laos right now, unfortunately. But, Still good to see people can go! I've just subscribed. Interesting enough! If you want the current situation in Thailand I'm right on the other side of the Meng Kong River.
Sabaidee🙏 Very informative! I've visited Laos six times and can't wait to return. Hopefully, I can get employed or start my own business there! PDR - please don't rush - 555!
Thanks NM. Take care
@@starrfarish8357 we have a channel called For Riel if you want to have a look. At the moment your best bet is a Business Visa, join the Cambodian Visa group they will help you out. It's $2000 per person deposit and you get back some of that after.
LOVE YOUR WORK CHRIS..... Thanks Todd for facilitating the information! 🙏
Still need to get around to answering your question mate... 👌
@@NowinLao All good. What I drew from this video is that almost anything is possible if you know the system and or via Chris.

*I'm teaching in Phnom Penh now and I'm thinking of moving to Laos!*
Wow! this has to be the best helpful and informative video on Laos during this unusual time for anyone who loves Laos and has loved ones there they want to visit!
the new marriage benefits introduced in 2018 makes it interesting. being able to stay for 1 year and work. I was born in Lao but I have to go through the same process as any other foreigners.
It is peaceful and respectful place. slow life and simple way of living. I love Laos. Working my way back here.
Very informative indeed and thank you so much. Who know, I may be using his services.
Well done great interview, I would say the best visa info I've ever heard great guy thanks todd

Great !!! Gyus
Thanks! For Listing me know great show !!
Lol I guess,,Todd,, I'm the newest busboy at the restaurant! Lmao just joking of course. This was pretty interesting. Thanks Todd, Ttyl,,,Marlon
Great video with an incredibly informed guy.
Thank you
What a great initiative from Chris
Thank you very much for an interview this is absolutely good source of information for sure thank you
Thank you, Very nice program, excellent informative about type of visa and staying permit. I am considering to stay in Laos during Northern winter month, after they find the way to live with the viruses. I like Laos and the people, very peaceful live. I traveled there few years ago.
Very informative. I would add though, that you don't need an exit visa at the moment, which is a nearly half the cost of any annual visa.
didn't get a chance to watch the video till a week after you posted it, thank you for the video and it cleared up a whole lot of questions for me...maybe not answer but cleared up what kinds of questions I need to ask for my situation..nice to know that there is a service like this in Laos...thanks Todd for this episode
No problem. Thanks Thomas
A put a smile on your face video!
Visa Run. You are only allowed twice per year time entering Thailand by land board crossing. Flying is unlimited.
I found that out the hard way 😐

Great informations’
Thank you so much 🙏🏼
Really enjoyed your videos Todd and Chris. Very informative and well-paced. I also appreciate that, unlike so many youtube vloggers, you don't drown out the message(s) with loud and inappropriate copyright-free electronic muzak. Thank you.

Great video and very informative. Hopefully I’ll be able to come to Laos in mid 2022 and I’ll certainly get in touch with Chris.
That’s great helpful info mate … will look into this once the border reopen again to travellers. Cheers mate 👍
Wow! Why didn’t you tell me before. I am on my way to Thailand but Laos was really on my radar. I will contact Chris for more information
Do you kniw whats going on in Thailand? It is a big mess at the moment and very risky what are you doing. Many thinking how to escape because of the effects of the collapse and many are surprised people wanna get in at all that mess. Dont expect a n ambulance is coming so take and have no accident or need for a hospital because they have no beds and collapsing. Ambulances sometimes need up to 7 days and arriving often only to see oh already too late. Good luck
By the way everything is locked down, no restaurants,no bars, no shopping, no parks, everything is lockdown and in a political big turmoil that can escalate every moment.
Oh I forgot there is a curfew, too. Good luck
Save your comments. Phuket is open and not locked down. I have been in places significantly more dangerous than Phuket Thailand. I can take care of myself. Good luck to you
I think you really doesn't know whats going on at the moment. I live in Thailand an my family is thai. Good luck
This is very interesting. The difficult part is getting out of Australia at present! They will only let me out at present if I have a job. However, I can wait. And I have a history and lots of contacts. You are doing a very good job of informing us. Thanks Todd.
Thanks Pari.. We look forward to meeting you when you do arrive.. Take care

Very informative! Thanks Mr Todd and Mr Chris.
Big tumbs up, so usefull video. Thank you Todd thank you Chris
Did I understand correctly at 8:31 that you can get a business visa even if just a single requirement of having travelled to Laos previously has been met? That would mean you wouldn't need to work there? Or maybe i just misunderstood...
Yes with previous travel history to Laos you are eligible to apply for re-entry + visa
YES! they have an office in Takhek! omg can I get the address? my girlfriend and her family lives in Takhek and most of my cousin on my dads side lives there. this is by far the most informative video for me at least, thankyou so much
Shoot Chris a message asking for it. His details in Pinned comment at top 👌
Thanks man
Very Good Video..Thank you.
Someday when I can sell everything here in Thailand I want to go back to Lao again.
Howdy ? I like your videos much , I enjoy watching all the time 😍👍🙏🙏
I remember him I think from Chok Dee the Belgium place. Very interesting content. What I am interested is the traveling from the Thai side to Laos. This is interesting for all the expats living in Thailand
And by car because many Expats have a car and a car passport
@@starpeople134 Not looking good for entering Laos from Thailand right now(unless you are a Lao national of course). Thailand is currently blacklisted because of the current covid situation there.
im in thailand as well.. no flights ect. we may have to get a giant balloon and sail cross . how many can we fit!! sad times
@@marcinasia1731 we want to go out and cannot but there is a commentor who want to go to Thailand and I explained him the situation and everything is locked, he wrote me back I should save my comments and it is open, ok good luck. He thinks in Phuket is everything open, ok good luck for him. He is a bit angry I warned him, maybe is better they experience it by himself if he wanna sit in a prison Island and a ghost town and no escape because the bridge is blocked and all bus routes, domestic planes are locked and interprovincial travel not allowed
Thanks 🙏 Chris and Todd ! Very nice information !

😁Hello Todd and Chris, many thanks for this very informative information regarding types of visas. Unfortunately, I'm from Poland. There is not even a Polish embassy in Laos. I greet you. Great information. I will be living in Thailand. But, I would also like to be spending some time in Laos
That is one in depth information on how to enter Laos. Seem a bit difficult to enter Laos though compared to other countries in that region. Relaxing visas laws I think will attract more tourists, like Vietnam or Thailand.
You must remember.. this was during Covid. Much easier now👌
It's actually easier to stay here long term now than it is Thailand
That's good to know, Thanks Todd. May I ask is there a guided tour in Laos? I wanted to see Laos but I can't speak the lingo and they don't seem to speak much English.
@@hotpursuit75 I'm sure there is.. check the "Laos Tourism" fb page and people will be able to give you suggestions or recommendations there. As you can understand I've never needed one so can't recommend.. sorry.

Chris/Todd I don't mind paying for a work visa there I want to find a hospital clinic that provides dentistry the field that I'm familiar with.
There are at least a couple very good dental clinics in Vientiane capital nowadays!
@@chrisb-mv9qi nice awesome would love to eventually be able to work there and also maybe perhaps more so into the tiny little village where I can do free dentistry to those who are little less unfortunate.
Thank you very much for the information

Great information thanks guys!
I found some reputable travel agents in Vientiane and Luang Prabang would arrange to extend my 30 day tourist visas. Saved me having to attend the Visa Office in person and a questionning from the Immigration Officer.
