Yeah Baby! I love watching those snubbies rock and roll. I had a 605 in matte black, but gave it to a family member. The 605 and now the 856 are two of my favorite carry guns. The cylinder diameter on the 856 is slightly wider. It will also load with both the H&K 10 and DS speedloaders. I keep both loaded with those very same Remington you used. I practice with the Monarch 158 grain JHP which is close to the Remington in velocity, but not +P. Great purchase of two hard working, utilitarian firearms.

Hello Greg, tell you what,Im really enjoying these 2 snubbies. Both work and run great. The 605 is much stiffer out of the box than the 856 was but she'll smooth out before long.I also plan on doing a VR to your Kemosabe Gun video later this month.Have a happy 4th.

What do you think of those Monarch 38 JHP? I recently bought a box of them myself but haven't shot them yet.
It's interesting that they are close to the Remington plus p in velocity. What velocity were you getting?

Good video! 👍 I got me a 605 just like that, and I Love it. Didn't plan on buying it, but I screwed up and asked to look at it at the gun store. It felt great, and for $269 NIB, I couldn't afford Not to buy it. Hell a .357 magnum brand new for less than 3 bills?? Hell yeah, I'm In! I've run about 500-600 rounds thru it, mainly .357 magnum, and had ZERO issues with it, She's a Keeper. 👍👍👍

There is a time and place for such things, and I'll admit, some of those 5.11 types give the rest of us a bad rap. They do serve a purpose, some may mean well but in this day and time, too many others kinda look down on that.My videos are made from my own personal experiences with certain firearms.I can't speak for everyone but one of the rewards of doing this is receiving positive feedback from people such as yourself. Thank you very much.

Chris - I got your question from an hour ago about the Monarch, but it isn't showing up in the comments section for me to answer.. It also got cut off. As far as the Monarch 158 grain it is a similar velocity to the Remington. It isn't rated plus P however. The actual velocity according to Gun Sam's chronograph tests are less than what is on the box. He has a video where he shoots this round. I tend to run that round in my older revolvers that aren't rated for Plus P. I have had problems with the last box of Monarch .357 I bought causing a great deal of carbon build-up in my revolver. I haven't had that problem with their JHP .38's.

Congrats on the 605 and happy 4th of July. You know what you might do? Keep your eyes peeled for a used Ruger SP-101 in 2-1/4" in either .38 or .357 magnum. Unfortunately these days even the used ones are commanding $425.00 and up but bear in mind that for your extra money, you will be getting in that Ruger a gun that will take a steady diet of those .38 +P's until the cows come home without a hint of discernible degrading in the timing, cylinder lockup, forcing cone, and/or increased side to side and front to back cylinder movement/slop from continued +P usage. Thanks for the video.

I looked at a used SP101 with a 3 inch barrel but it was still over $100 more than the Taurus. But so far,no regrets with my decision. But I will agree, the Ruger is a more solidly built revolver.

Nice Review Mark and Happy Independence Day! I own the 605 in Matte Stainless and paid well over '3 bills' here in California for it...so you did pretty well there. I was actually looking for an ultralite taurus 85 .38 special when I found mine...Thing is, Taurus is almost impossible to find out here in So Cal with our STUPID HANDGUN ROSTER limitations, so much so, that I impulse purchased the beefier 605 when I saw it at the store...Tell you what though...heavier or not...it shoots 38 special +p HP like a kitten...says me. However, I caution anyone who thinks they want to carry .357 Magnum loads to either try it our first or just carry .38. (Which ain't a joke either for up close and personal work)...The concussion from the blast will rock your dome (and probably disorient) and cost you hearing loss in a real gunfight....IT IS A HANDFUL!

I love the Remington 125gr SJHP .357 Magnum rounds in that. I trained it and carried it. Yeah it hurts a bit but I got through 225 rounds between that, my 4" 44 and 357s as well. It is fierce it manageable if you train and not recoil adverse. That combo is just as hot seemingly as a hot service length N-Frame 44 Mag. So beware but not impossible. It just hurts a bit.

When we were looking at it we suspect the Chambers are not round and has a swell in the middle. I got so mad I bought a Model 60 S&W and yup you guess it it is now also back. This one would not open or close properly. The spring pressure of the cylinder lock was forcing the cylinder into the forcing cone making it very hard to open.

I would have to say no,I'd go with a full sized 357 magnum with a 4 inch barrel. You wouldn't get the full potential of the 357 round coming out of a snub nose. Also a full sized revolver has 1 or 2 more round capacity,,shot placement would be crucial on an animal such as a bear.A longer barrel is more accurate if you have time to aim.I hope this is helpful.
