Great review! I picked up a 605 used recently as my back up duty gun for security work. Despite a negative review I read before picking it up, I’ve had no issues. The review talked about the cylinder not turning properly. Like I said though, I have not had any issues and my experience is right on with your review. I love the little power packer!
I love mine. No issues either.
Thanks for watching.
I have had the 605 almost 4 years now. The sights or front sight can be painted for better visibility.
There are better ammunition, but 50’ to 25 yards it takes practice.
I use semi automatic a lot, but the 605 comes in handy for concealing and light. Close up and quick.
@@williamhsmithjr2991 thanks for watching.
Got a 605 amd 856. Great guns for the money. Safe, reliable, and effective. Good for pocket carry. I would like to get an Ultra Lite, stainless steel, spurless 856 one day. Thanks for sharing.
@@wes326 thanks for the comment and for watching.
I've had mine 3 yrs and love it
@@josephkuss225 still love mine too.
Thanks for watching.
Great review, friend. Because if your review, I decided to buy this gun. Thumbs up and I’m a subscriber
Thanks for the complements. Thanks for the sub too.
Have a great new year.
I’ve had my 605 for several years. I completely agree about the recoil difference between 38 Special & 357. I’ve shot both rounds, but use 38 Special when I’m out plinking. It’s my bedside gun now. Loaded with Hornady Critical Defense. If I wasn’t home, & something happened I didn’t want my wife to have to deal with one of my semiautomatics. Good gun!!
Agreed. I use a shotgun for home defense myself.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video! Happy wife happy life. Love my 605, I have the stainless one. Wolfe springs helped out the trigger pull beyond imagination. Taurus used so many MIM parts that polishing the internals wasn't necessary. Got the wood bird head grips from Taurus, they give a nice pinky rest and carry comfortably. Wish the front post was a red ramp but I threw some orange paint on and away we go
I painted mine too.
Thanks for watching.
Great video. I'm glad you like the 605 enough to carry because I just suggested to some friends to get the optics ready model. I liked and subscribed.
@@jerdog333 thanks for the sub and thanks for watching.
Thanks much for the thorough, honest review! Going for it.
I am glad you liked it.

I recently picked up one of these bad boys didnt get a chance to fire it yet but it feels great in the hands. New subscriber here also I noticed the hat thank you for your service🙏🙏🙏
Thanks and thanks for watching.
Jack, beard looks great brother. All do respect to the Mrs.,if she saw mine, (almost to my belt line)lol 😂 don't know what that would cause? @@garypaterson2794 thanks for watching and the kind words.
Glad to hear you like it, I purchased one just like it today!
I like the 605 so much i bought another one i changed the grips to pachmayr pro great even with the magnums
I will try them.
Thanks for watching.
I open carry a stainless steel one of these that was made in early 90s. It has a well-tuned factor compensated barrel no muzzle flap just straight back into the hand.
Good stuff.
Thanks for watching.
I like my 605's I have two 1 in brushed nickel and 1 in matte black
Yup, I like it as well, especially in single action.
Thanks for watching.
Keep her happy. Trim , don’t shave.
I have the 605 with 3” barrel. I prefer to load with 38 for a night stand gun. I can shoot one handed if needed with acceptable accuracy. But definitely has some kick using 357 in this small frame.
Nice trigger in single action.
Thank you for your video
Thanks for watching.
I love this as my carry with +p and I switch it with the G3 9mm
Thanks for the video well done
Thanks for watching.
I havethis same gun, only shot .38 special through it. Finding 357 magnum is hard to find in dfw and is expensive too. Satisfied so far. Only issue is the black matte finish is easily blemished.
100% agree. The finish has proven to not be very durable.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks Troop for the full and good intel
Fantastic video!!! I previously owned a Taurus 605 snub and made a dumb decision to sell it. I have been thinking really hard about buying me another one!!! I have always said every firearm owner needs to own at least one snub nose revolver. I did subscribe!!!! God bless!!🇱🇷🇱🇷
@@thomaspalmer7900 I appreciate the support and the sub.
I agree everyone should have a snubby.
Thanks again.
@@jackofalltrades7822 your welcome!!!👍👍
I’ve carried a Tarus 85 5 shot 38 special as a backup for at least 4 years. I’ve got underwood 158 grain +P hard casts in it. The box claims 1250 fps. But out of the snub nose I would kinda doubt it.
I put a black bear down from about 20’ with one shot to the head with hard cast and it passed through and got stuck at the tip of the ear.
Great stuff on your channel this was the first video I watched, god bless
Hay, thanks for the sub. I will be watching your channel as I want to get back into trapping here.
Take care my friend and I wish you the best.
..The J-frame size is a very capable handgun ... used in a real scenario of self defense, most likely 5 feet or less ,, would be a quick hip shot or point and shoot ,, too much adrenalin for sighting .. .38 specials are all thats needed ,, these are made in .357 to be a law enforcement backup gun ,, where some still carry .357 ... as you said , not a fun round to fire in such a small package ...
Thanks for watching.
Good vid.thanks for the info👍
Yor welcome and thanks for watching.
I put a reduced power spring set in mine and never had a squib or misfire. Double action pull is about 8 pounds, worthwhile mod.
@@jonyoung6253 I will give it a try.
Thanks and thanks for watching.
Great review. Nice gun. Many thanks!🙏
Have had my stainless 605 for some time & am not real happy about the stainless. It's porous and hard to clean. The trigger has a spot where it stages in DA. Have dry fired it a lot with snap caps & have gotten used to that. It's assignment is at the house with Hornady critical defense 38 spls. It really let's the world know when 357s are used.....BTW; Thanks for your service. Spent my time in the USAF from 1968 to 72.
thanks for watching and the great comment.
Good presentation!
Hey! Thanks and thank you for watching.
Great review, brother
Appreciate that.
Thanks for watching.
Wolfman Jack beard. Looks good!
My wife would disagree.
In like my Taurus revolver. I carry it more than most of my handguns. I have the Taurus 905 in 9mm. I purchased aftermarket KC Custom’s moon clips, far better than Taurus ones. Considering a 327 Taurus next. Ruger LCR 327 too expensive! Wish Taurus had a pinned from sight however but a bit of paint on the front sight works fine
I did the same painting on my front sight. Held emendation.
I carry my 605 all the time & it is a great carry gun.
Thanks for watching an merry Christmas.
I have the 605 in stainless steel. Like it. Carry it in my truck.
I actually really like it except for the 5 round capacity. But I guess if I need more than 5 I am screwed. 😁
Thanks for watching.
I admit I've swung the cylinder closed a couple of times... But the first time I ran that pistol I might have got 30 rounds through it and the cylinder started locking or seizing up .... I never took it anywhere to get it looked at or broke it down and cleaned it to took it back to the range... I'm a truck driver I don't have time
Thank you so much I learned alot!!!
…& thank you so much for watching.
Have a great rest of your week.
People complaining about putting. 357 rounds through saying recoil is too strong for a short barrel, it but I don't have an issue with it, and I have big hands. I guess I have a strong wrist, idk
Without gloves it hits my palm pretty hard. I don’t have a problem with a larger grip.
Thanks for watching.
Very informative video! I am looking for a kydex holster for my newly purchased 605 with a 3" barrel, and am having a very hard time finding one. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I don’t sorry. I prefer leather holsters over Kydex so I have not explored that.
Thanks for watching.
Beard is great so was your presentation…. Thanks
Thanks and thank you for watching.
I have one but I don’t shoot 357 magnum in it due to the crazy recoil so I have 2 full size smiths for 357 magnum. I have shot 357 but mainly shoot 38 special plus p
Me too. The small grip really zings your palm.
Thanks for watching.
I have a question to @
Jack of all Trades or anyone reading this?? I bought a model 605 in the 90's when the Gun was first in the Market. It was not in the Gun shops yet (saw it in a magazine) being so new to the market. So, I ordered mine. Took a couple weeks to receive because I ordered the SS version. At the time I thought the model I received was a normal SS model. However, I can not at this time locate any info on my particular Model. Mine is a High polished (almost mirror / nickel plate appearance) ported with Six Ports (I've seen a four port). Is this a distributers promotion ?? Is it a keeper ?? I'm just curious on what I have. Much Respect to all of you !
I have no clue what you have. It is very interesting. I bet if you called Taurus, gave them the SN, they would be able to fill you in. They have done that for me before and they are very helpful.
Thanks for watching.
just fyi, the 605 is built on the same frame as the 856, any of the Defender series 3-finger grips will fit on it
Very good to know. Thank you for the tip.
Thanks for watching.
I have the 605 in protective poly. I carry 38 +p in the weapon with 357 magnum in my reload. Love the weapon and carry it every day. I do have an issue, I am partially blind in my aiming eye and can’t see the sights to aim anymore. I am looking for a laser sight for my weapon because I can see the laser down range. Problem is that I have been unable to find one that will fit the protective poly. They have some that fit the 605, just not the protective poly frame. Thoughts, opinions and suggestions are welcome. TIA
Did you check to see if they make a laser in a replacement grip?
Thanks for watching.
@@jackofalltrades7822 yes. I contacted Taurus and they didn’t have anything laser-wise. They suggested Laser Lyte, Crimson Trace and Vridian. Laser Lyte was a no go, still waiting on a response from Crimson Trace, have not had a chance to talk to Vridian yet.
I use Barnes 357 tac xpd defense 😊
That will do it.
Thanks for watching.
Can't trim till the beard till after hunting season is over!
Very true.
I think tradition indicates no shaving until 12/1
I don’t think I will make it that long.
Keep it going and my wife brads it!
Will do. Thanks for watching.
Aren’t you losing a lot of 357’s potential out of these snubs vs 3, 4 inches?
True, other than losing the sting in your palm. 😁
Thanks for watching.
Beard: do what the wife says makes you look good. Trust her. 🙏🇺🇸
Fair enough.
Thanks for watching and happy new year.
Very informative video. What's the difference between the 605 and 856? As far as the beard goes, the phrase "Happy Wife..." is a proven axiom. My suggestion is to start by trimming the uneven ends. That might give a more kempt appearance that your Bride is looking for.
Thanks for watching.
There are several differences but the biggies are ammo cap. 856 holds 6 and 605 holds 5.
Another is weight. The 856 is 16oz and the 605 is 24oz. This is because the 856 frame is aluminum and the 605 is alloy steel.
@@jackofalltrades7822 Appreciate the info. And even more appreciate your prompt and informative response!
@@jackofalltrades7822There are steel framed versions of the 856. The aluminum alloy models are Ultra Lites.
as far as the beard goes mention divorce and the dogs, and hands off my raw meat. Now about the revolver, I have an 856 standard and a 605 2" with custom grips to fit my whole hand, S&W revolvers out of my reach, the taurus were 350 to 299, have owned them for 5+
years with no headaches, my everyday CCW. Oh' and I'm 81 kind-a makes sense. Retired my
1911 but I still take it fishing now and then
I love my 1911's too. The S&W's are certainly expensive and out of my reach too.
Thanks for watching.
Do you know where I can find larger grips to fit the 605
I truly do not. A quick Google search shows several after market grips but I can not attest to their size.
Ed trim it like the villain in the movie the Wild West with will smith she will leave you alone about it after that lol
Lol, that will shut her up.
Thanks for being a loyal subscriber Terry.

Happy wife, happy life !
@@kent1767 facts!! Thanks for watching.
Can anyone in the comments compare this to a 4 inch Taurus 66? I’m torn between the 3inch defender 605 and 66 and I can’t find any comparisons between the 2 thanks
I don’t have a 66 but I have fired one. The biggest difference is size. The 66 is much larger as it is a full frame gun. The grip is bigger, the frame and cylinder are much larger (This is to accomodate the 7 round capacity) & the entire package is much harder to conceal.
The 66 does carry 7 rounds, will be a little heavier which will help with recoil and the longer barrel has some advantage in regard to accuracy and bullet velocity.
If you just want a hand gun for the house and don’t want to conceal it the 66 is a fine choice.
The 66 is not meant to be a concealed carry weapon so if that’s what you want, buy the 605.
I hope this helps and maybe I will get a 66 and do a comparison video.
Thanks for watching.
@@jackofalltrades7822 thanks for your response dude, since I’ve switched over sort of and I’m gonna get a 2 inch 605 and then another bigger size revolver in the future.
Get the 3 inch.

Your bride is correct. 🙂
Ya, it needs a trim for sure. In truth the whole head needs a trimming up. Been too long.

Please trim it a bunch you'll look great😄👍
Would porting a snubby help at all, anyone know?
@@kent1767 not really, and it sure would be loud.

I can't do gloves. Just doesn't work for me.
Good tip though.

Its winter time. Grow that beard and head hair out until its time for warmer weather!

Happy new year.
I do not do marriage counseling. Wisdom from my dad. You will never understand you wife.
If, you think you do, you will discover you are wrong. If, you are willing to trim your beard for her,
suggestion ask her what she wants. Get her to write it out or after you cut it you will hear-I didn't say that. Caution, do not laugh but Claud said is no excuse.
Words of wisdom.
Thanks for watching and have a great new year.
Dont trim it too far down
Thanks for watching.
Trim scraggly hairs but let it grow , use beard oil
Good tip. I will give that a try.
Don't trim it. I have a beard and my wife wants me to trim mine. I am NOT trimming it. I'm letting it grow
I already did but it will grow back.
Anything to go against the wife huh😂 just trim the damn thing see if she likes it better and make you a good meal and gives you a great night it’s a beard it should grow back if you want it again
@@James-fl9bv free the beard!!!!!
Taurus isn't a very good company they have been having quality control and recall issues dating back to at least 1987, which is still happening to some of their GX4 pistol in 2024. Had this been S&W people would be down their throats. All though I like their revolver better. Inspect closely before buying.
I have a Taurus G3 and a 605 and they have served me great! Can't speak for everyone though.
another damn parrot
Bleach it blond
I don’t get it
Remove the beard..
@@bruceerdman8527 it will never get removed but trimmed is a possibility.

I'm still waiting on some word from Taurus about mine..the cylinder fell out after less than 3 boxes of .38 and .357s
Interesting. Let me know how it works out. Thanks for watching.
