What your favourite British Train Operator says about YOU!

- This video is incredibly satire, so if you take offence from it, apologies.
Because I can’t be arsed doing a Trainspotting video this week, you get this weird concoction I made over the past 2 days. This video goes over pretty much every passenger TOC in the UK, not including heritage, freight companies, or the London Underground and the DLR. If I’ve missed anything I’ll probably not realise for another few days
Anyways, enjoy!
*Just realised that I forgot Great Northern (4 days in, cmon guys…)*
Great Northern: You’re a Hypocrite
you forgot virgin lemme help you
virgin: you are still a virgin after 24 years
@@autisticdoge-RBLX not incredibly relevant due to it being kicked out of the East and West coast mainlines quite a while back
Although, that might become a bit relevant with the video im working on rn (:
This is an funny video
@@nowapproachingyt you are funny
EMR is painfully accurate. Whenever I travel on the MML standard class is RAMMED while first class is deserted. Do we really need a coach and a half for first class in a five coach train?
I mean, It’s not like it’s just EMR that does it. Taking up 2/3 of a coach in a 185 can be a bastard for when it’s overcrowded, but then again 3 coaches of first class on a 7 car train (iirc) is just laughably stupid 💀
LNER is spot on, those old trains were so comfortable
My favorite pastime _is_ faire-evading! Is it that obvious? Lmfao, great video.
Do you mean a country fair or a food fair? Fare's fare, as they say ha-ha.
I mean everyone knows what it is with C2C. It only serves one county...
I loved that, thanks. As an older UA-camr myself the short snappy presentation of a youngster got me laughing. It would take me quarter an hour to say what you did in two minutes! As a Scot my favourite TOC has to be ScotRail and the worst, used to be XC now TP. I've only ever used South-Eastern once, from Waterloo to Charing Cross, so they were totally wonderful, ha-ha.
Aye cheers mate! Love to see my content somehow reaching all age groups, even with it being incredibly goofy 🤪. Either way, cheers for the support!
ScotRail is shit
@@Joshthetrainspotter85 wasn’t expecting that coming from you (with your pfp) 😂
@@Joshthetrainspotter85 Can you give your reasons for that opinion, with examples?
That Scottish accent was top notch (saying this as a scot) 😂
*im a natural darling* 😂
I think it's really about where you live. My favourite TOC is Greater Anglia and I could go on about how great they are, but I did grow up in Cambridge...
To be fair my favourite is Transport For Wales just because of their consistently great services and rolling stock, and im a northerner
I'm a Cambridge boy too and I definitely have a soft spot for Greater Anglia over everyone else. It might be quicker getting to London via Thameslink/Great Northern but the intelligent people (i.e. everyone who wants more comfort than a millimetre of foam padding on a plastic seat) always go Greater Anglia into Liverpoool Street.
Controversial but I like having the same trains for commuting since you always know their surprisingly ok for being 20 years old
Lovely Video! A lot of the jokes really did crack me up, particularly the Scotrail one! Very entertaining, You've got another subscriber! Hope you have a great Christmas! :)

Ngl I loved it and very entertaining. Gave me a really good laugh. Work on the Brum accent tho 😭 But loved it
Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh I see where you’re getting your point 😂
Hilarious! For Southeastern, I’d have said that you like broken seats. ~ Daniel
I mean, other than the networkers, I could find nothing satire about southeastern. Maybe it’s the perfect UK operator? Who knows 🤷♂️
@@nowapproachingyt If their highspeed services were a bit more high speed somewhere other than HS1, then maybe yes.
@@transportenthusiast11 I mean, for what it is, SEHS is pretty much perfectly optimised for both HS and Third Rail running, although on both power modes there is a distinctive lack of power at higher speeds does weigh the service down a lot. I’ve heard the term ‘Express commuter’ over everything else to be fair.
@@nowapproachingyt Some extra fast services on top of the current ones is what I mean really, it just feels a bit pointless to design a train for 140mph running and have it be no faster, if not slower than the regional trains once it leaves the dedicated track.
@@nowapproachingytAs a Londoner
No they're fucking not

The ironing board seats are actually nice in my opinion-
You smashed that amaizing and I agree with the class 390 and class 387 and totally the Caledonia sleep
with hull trains being my local operator i can agree haha, although they do sometimes bring a trolley out. also I am a TPE lover!!
Aye, nothing wrong with that. To be frankly honest there wasn’t much else I could say on Hull Trains, although their livery is one of the best in the uk 🔥
@@nowapproachingytYeh
Brilliant! And now I have an idea: Do you know the vid: "if tube lines were people"? How about doing that for TOCs? I got some ideas about how to go about it, but accdg. to this you don't need 'em.
Maybe that’s a bit too complex for my editing software 😂. I will still consider it however (:
Very creative ideas and given me a good laugh. Id lay off the accents from now on though😆 (northern on top)
May you be blessed with 50 knives in your heart for your pleasure (:
Nah jk, cheers for the feedback!
For me it's LNER, and that description was spot on (for me anyway)
Southeastern - you like the only TOC running on a High Speed line
Valid to be fair. Didn’t come to mind when I first did the video 😂
Eurostar?
For me it would be something like: Southeastern - have you ever travelled beyond the front garden?
For southern I was expecting, "you like stikes." Lol. Great video
Aye cheers. I like to subvert expectations (; 😂
Great I have an addiction to ironing boards and have too much money, not quite what I expected

Hahaha great one mate 😂
Aye cheers mate
WMR: you might be a fan of the class 172 Turbostars (or maybe that's just me; I've always loved the sound they make), especially considering that they're the only company that runs them now that London Overground and Chiltern Railways cascaded their units to us, and they're used pretty much exclusively on the Snow Hill Lines! Full disclosure, the Snow Hill Line's my local so I've used the 172s a lot since they replaced the 150s (wow, it's been twelve years since then, how time flies!).
And I loved the explanation for the Elizabeth Line, that got the biggest laugh from me, but surely you can get the same satisfaction of escaping Slough on the Great Western.
To be fair the 172s are *almost* perfect. Amazing sounding engines, unique gearbox, all ruined by slightly subpar seats. However I will say for all of the services that it’s ran on, it’s done a lot of heavy work in it’s lifetime. Thankfully they seem to have found a home now in Brum.
Oh and I didn’t say the slough bit for GWR just because I reserved my ‘cracking’ joke for it 😂
@@nowapproachingyt The fact that the engines and gearboxes are great is proven by the fact that the Civity DMUs appear to use them or similar? At least the 196s appear to from the times I've seen them around Birmingham and Worcester.
After a thorough *wikipedia search*, the engines of the 172 and 196 are pretty much similar, with the former having a MTU 6H 1800 R83 engine, and the latter having a MTU 6H 1800 R85L. Probably applies to other diesel civities too
@@nowapproachingyt There we go then. It's all quite distinctive isn't it, especially the gear shifts.

Well, talk about accidental perfection 😆
Dude you got involved in a TFL three video
This has made me realise that I don't have a favourite TOC...
Next do FOCs.
Was on Grand Central one time when I went to London (got on at Eaglescliffe) and their first class wasn’t very good. Have to say that Great Northern’s name seems to be a little misleading as the farthest north they go is King’s Lynn, also with this one 1:33, those people also might be trying to escape not just Slough, but also Maidenhead and Reading.
One word:
*Flow*
Damn no comments about CrossCountry. I absolutely love these trains. Packed so full sometimes they never bother with inspections and only stopping at major stations. What did you say by the way "You're definitely not an introvert"?
Yep, thou did say that.

My Favourites are Greater Angilia, c2c and London Overground
The LNER one was more accurate than I expected
Confirmed Kingsmill 50/50 loaf of bread
That LNER comment was entirely uncalled for!
I mean, alarmingly on point, but uncalled for!
Let’s just say I could’ve said worse 🤫
The caledonian sleeper one is so true
I mean, the mk3s were falling apart, and the mk5s have stuff ride quality. There’s practically *no middle ground* whatsoever 😂
Favourite got to be LNER because first class is first class……the rest are going down the line in comfort and passenger experience
Heathrow Express: You fall apart like your bloody trains
Cracking under pressure like CAF... Here in aus half our trams are caf urbos 3s and have all started cracking underframes
Ah, seems as though caf is consistently shit everywhere, not just the uk 😂
Although Heathrow express have been using 387s for the past few years now. Not as good as the 332s but they more modern still
As someone from the Black Country I resent you calling me a Brummie
Superfast train mode
My fav is LNER specifically Azuma
The GWR comment is so true
Probably should've said something about EMR users being rich asf (£14 off peak return to go 1 stop) lmfao
My favourite TOC is BR ofc they dont exist anymore but just, idk i like it and unlike some TOCs now they could* operate services properly (cough cough Avanti west coast cough cough)
also all the liveries of BR look good with my only problem being the latter rail freight liveries which got a bit confusing for me
*most of the time
also i never got to experience the BR era so other people probably have different thoughts on it but I dont care
Aye it is a bit of a let down with how privatisation has gone, but still British Rail had its downsides too. Freight isn’t really relevant to me, but I see your point with all the separate aggregates and coal liveries and Yadeyadeya.
LNER for the win
But mostly because it's the only reliable(ish) operator on the ECML that stops at my station

@@nowapproachingyt both
I actually prefer the ironing board seats to the seats found on LNER, GWR and TransPennine’s class 800 high speed trains. Something about the way they are shaped somewhat makes up for the poor padding
*New Enemy Unlocked:* You
Nah jk. I mean some people like certain things, and others like others. Tbf I like the newer Northern ironing board seats after they removed the outer mesh, actually makes them slightly comfortable.
@@nowapproachingyt I live in Scotland so the ironing board seats I’m familiar with are the ones in class 156 and class 385s. The 385s are only used in short journeys as are the class 156s. However the class 156s are also used on journeys of up to 5 hours in the West Highland line between Glasgow and Fort William/Mallaig. I’ve ridden that route and because of how scenic the route is I was able to stick out the ironing board seats the whole way
@@gftyhify I mean you can ignore seat comfort sometimes when you’re enjoying the views so much, like my northern 156 experience along the Cumbrian Coast line
@@nowapproachingyt We used to have some of the most comfortable seats in the country on the 159s out of Salisbury before SWR decided to refurbish them 🙄 Still...they're notvas bad as the ironing board 'ergonomic' (there's an oxymoron when they make your back ache), seats found on many trains.
I'm ex BR though and ancient so I've experienced a lot of seats over the years.

Eurostar is a British Train Operator? Or at least as British any any of the others.
Is Etihad a British airline if they fly to England? Not really a great analogy but still, I don’t consider it British enough
@@nowapproachingyt It is a British company that is owned by the French government, so no different to Arriva [Chiltern, CrossCountry, Grand Central, Overground] which is (until the sale officially goes through) owned by the German government.

What is my favourite British train operator?
British Rail, of course. Better service, better comfort, better fare structure, better catering, better financial control- in fact, better than all of the current operators.
In some ways, I do have to agree with you, however privatisation has given a large variety of services and operators to the network. Plus with advancements in train technology, acceleration and efficiency is maximised nowadays. Some may think that this is a bad way to go, but if you compare the acceleration rates of a IC225 and an azuma, you can see how newer trains are preferable.
Privatisation didn’t make these trains - there’s just as high a chance that BR would purchase azumas anyway, they would just be better run.
Oh :)
Mine id Greater Anglia.
I used to love Merseyrail, but it's really gone downhill recently. It now rivals both TPE and XC on shortforming, ffs.
Ouch, sounds bad
TPE should be: [Insert joke here before due time]
Could have just not included TPE, literally nobody's favourite and represents their average service.
Northen is just the goat simple
They’re aight for an operator working with money that the government finds behind their sofa cushions. For what they are they provide a decent service, however their new rolling stock is incredibly lacking in terms of passenger comfort - which is why I said what I said 😂.
