Hi there Train Lovers,
There have been a few comments and suggestions about our Top 10 Lists on the most Beautiful and Ugly Trains, Here is a challenge of what to do if you are unhappy or think it is wrong.
If you are unhappy with our Top 10 List, why not make your own Top 10 list and put it in the comments and we will do a revised Top 10 List in a few months time.
Thanks for your time,
Glasgow Life
I would have thought the Deltic would have been included
Beautiful? Any in Caledonian blue livery; Stirling single; a Claughton; "The Great Marquess"; Rocket; and, of course, Thomas (in first place for services rendered).
Trains TrainsTrains nice Of you to let me see VIRGIN TRAINS
Hello trains trains trains can you do the class 508 electric multiple unit in a review and history about them please
Top 10 limited edition livery
Who the hell voted for half the trains on this list?
boab1980 who knows
Triggered veg that want everything to revolve around locos, only 2 units made that list, I would say the 390 is a unit but it's iconic as it is.
I don't know but half I say are ugly and thw others my dad has models of.

The HSTs are a testament to the best in British design. Deserved 1st place.
Yes you're right, but are they that good looking? No, not really.
Yes, if you don’t like them that’s your opinion.
I think they look great with the original headlights.
Yeah.
al66class59 it asol came 9th
What about the flying scotsman.
That's a class a3
@@thomashambly3718 is the a4 faster than a3 class or the other wayn
@@mahesasuwongso3496 a4 faster
Also flying scotsman was multiple different engines, but the one named flying scotsman started off as an a1, but was upgraded to a3 later
@@mahesasuwongso3496 an a4 is faster it's streamlined
Of course a HST is number 1. Nothing else can beat a HST. #hstforthewin
Personally my number 1 would be the A4 Pacifics
Disagree. APT was / is a stunning bit of kit.
Yessss the HST!!!! All hail the HST!!!!!!
@@alhumphrey81 i have the same opinion but im so angry that the class 373 wasnt of this list
Love 373 though but is not a British design at all despite the fact was designed to operate the rail Network ou of Channel Tunnel Rail Link.
ERR OK ..
A Class 68 is more beautiful than an A4 ...
People taking drugs should NOT have been allowed to vote.
Have to agree the class 43 .AKA HST is AWESOME
An a4 is more beautiful than a 68
Class 68 is TERRIBLE!!!!!!!
Class 314 better than a princess coronation class. What is wrong with everyone?
mattdandex The class 314 is just the most good looking train
I agree, there are better looking ones out there.
The 314 and its siblings 313 and 315 are not attractive at all - bland 1970s local runabouts with little or no character.
It's cos steam is KING!
314 looks better tbh, coronation looks like one of those toy trains that never made the shelves at Tesco.
As one who remembers the steam locos I would have included the Castles, rebuilt Royal Scots and the rebuilt West Countries (tender engines) and the 80xxx 2-6-4T and 51xx 2-6-2T classes (tank engines).
yeah why didn't they put steam trains in there?
If I were him and I decided to put steam trains in there, I would put:
Tenders:
LNER Class A4
GWR Castle, King and Hall classes
LMS Princess Royal
LNER Class A3
BR/LNER A1 Class
LMS Coronation Class (streamlined)
Tanks:
LB&SCR E2 Class
GWR 14xx
J50
Jinty
GWR Pannier tank
GWR Saddle Tank (including Trojan)
I would've put the city of wells
The last train, the 43class intercity 125 is also the worlds fastest diesel train
it can do 148mph+ but a lack of cab signalling means that it's stuck to 125. The class 91 also reached 168 mph but is also limited to 125 mph in service.
@@mrrolandlawrence first IC225 reached 162 and second it is electric not diesel and IC12 (R.I.P HST. you were a legend) reached 148 and was diesel
@@mrrolandlawrence where did you get that info. Would be cool to see
@@sheep8128 One of the HSTs EMR had (43102 and 43159, the first is currently in a swallow livery and i believe headed to the NRM in york, the other is owned by 125 group and is in active preservation) managed to clock 148.5 MPH
@@Spacebug111HSTs are still running, far from RIP
Class 52 would of really made a good fit on this list.
How doesn’t the Flying Scotsman when as most beautiful with its (wind or speed I don’t know what it’s called) flaps open
are you saying how doesn't Flying Scotsman win with its wind deflectors out?
I think the APT and the APT-e were really good looking trains
Sakkra101 the 125 is also a descendent of the APT program
@Jack Shiels APT's and HST's looks fine
The apt-e is actually one of my least favourite trains look-wise
@@bennickss that’s your opinion Ben I like the look of the APT-e, I like it so much that I have a model of it in OO on pre order right now.
Aww yeah the 91 definitely deserves to be on this list but the 332? NO WAY!
Long live the HST!
Love the XPT / HST. You always knew that was going to be number 1. As an Australian i favour the XPT slightly over the HST. But that's just me.
I think the XPT lacks some of the HST’s clean lines, and I don’t think the lower windscreen position does it any favours. But I’m still a big fan, especially in candy livery.
These are mine 10: Class 91 Electric or the Intercity 225
9: Class 800
8: Class 323
7: Class 153
6: Class 68
5: Class 350
4: Class 360
3: Class 332
2: Class 370 APT
1: Class 43 HST
This and the ugliest trains are just random. In fact i think the " ugliest " trains are prettier!
I know it's mad
Ben M me too. My friend thinks that the class 42’s are ugly. In fact they are my favourite train
MacauleyP_Plays the 43 definitely isn’t ugly but some of these for example the class 332 in my opinion are very ugly. Why is it that everyone likes the new trains. The voters are that silly they didn’t even think about the Deltic or flying Scotsman.
@@BritishTrainspotting ikr the new Hitachi crap is all they invest in, not new class 43s which are much better
I honestly can’t agree more!
My list would be:
1. HST
2. APT-P
3. Class 47
4. Class 50
5. DP1
6 Class 55
7 Class 40
8. Class 37
9. Class 31
10. Class 86
The class 31’s just a box, I don’t see why it’s on your list but it’s your opinion
@@bennickss The grilles are well integrated into the design, the (originally) white stripe that ran through the centre of the loco helped add some visual interest, the bogies are perfectly proportioned with the rest of the loco. The interior and cabs are beautifully simplistic and intuitive too.
i knew already that the HST was 1st, that train is too beautiful.
Agreed
lol the intercity 125 is my favorote train
Yeah, definitely one of my favourites
Mine is the 225
Same
And the class hst
Bacon Flakes you mean the class 43, right?
I wished the Eurostar Class 373 was part of this list.
Guessing that the HST is the 'Gundam' of the UK... The last song was from the Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 series but I guess for it's lasting service and iconic status, it's a fitting comparison.
No Deltics or Westerns.😑
My first thought...
and the class 37 is a deltic ripoff
Actually, the Class 37 and the Deltic had the same bogies...
oh....
7th place is a deltic
225 is incredibly beautiful
What about the class 465?
I think it's beautiful, not just the look but the sounds too
I think the HST's and Inter city 225's are the two best long distant trains ever and should be the only two different trains running all over the UK for as long as possible!
Anyone gonna tell him?
@@WCML tell him what?
Hsts are gone
@@WCML with the exceptions of a few XC sets, the NMT and ScotRail's 54 powercar fleet.
The only beautiful ones here that I agree on are the The InterCity 225 and the Pendolino 390
It is a shame really as the HST is slowly getting phased out by the class 800/801 'Asuma' trains on the ECML.
Still plenty on the MML. They have just been given a derogation to continue running well into 2021 too...
Class 86??
i must ask why is the 314 on there and not the 47 or deltic
Over the years I have worked on the railways I have asked every driver I met what the best engine/train was they ever drove.
1st: Class 45
2nd: HST
3rd: Class 60
You have the most interesting trains in your country. When dad was in the United States Air Force, we really enjoyed our three years living in England. Can you possibly do a video of the ten best English country lanes?
I almost think that it should be the Class 370 InterCity APT
Well said. Personally I agree with the HST at number 1, but I'm biased as I drive them for a living...
Not entirely sure that I agree with the result!! Mind you, I’m old enough to remember when the ‘only’ Motive Power, other than Industrial Shunters and the Underground (or in Glasgow, the Subway) was STEAM!
Ttrucker It’s “PARTICK”, not Patrick Cross and “GOVAN”, not Govern Cross!
You are forgetting Southern Electric and British Railways Southern region.
blame the viewers
My top 10 favourite trains
10.Class 370 APT
9.Class 334
8.Class 390
7.Class 377
6.Class 43
5.Class 166
4.Class 314
3.Class 318
2.Class 142
1.Class 320
ok how did i find u anyways uhhh ik i hate you but uh
hi
So many deserving 1st placers - class 43 included (in Swallow?). I would add LMS Princess (even though I am a Western fan)
I was hoping to see a class 373 Eurostar in there. They, I believe are the best trains ever made.
They are starting to vanish cuz of the age I think
@@radovanlukic3267 Indeed, some new trains by Siemens are in service now.
Truly good trains! Edit: My favourites are the Lner Mallard And the Heathrow express and Not forgeting about a HST. Oh and The Intercity train but unfortunately there is no DVT. But good video!
No 55s,52s or my favourite lekkie the 82? Most will be disappointed their own favourites are not here. DMUs like 103 and 110 could have been candidates. Anomalies such as class 41 in ugly column yet class 43 tops the pretty list! 156 in ugly yet 314s are nice! Bizarre.
Amazing Vid and I really enjoyed It and I do agree with some trains but my list is a bit diffrent but I loved your vid :D Also Keep doing Vids like this. I have a vid recommendation : Top 10 most Slowest trains in The U.K
wrong the flying scotsman is the most beautiful train
In my opinion it is the carnotion’s
Bluegoose3460 : if I knew what you were saying, I might agree with you.
Well I don't know about top 10s but at the moment Class 312s and Class 43s are my top two all time favourites.

BB- BRANZ Eurostar?
@@TrainspotterCraig agreed too
Unfortunately for the mallard, when the 5550 Project is completed and a new T1 class steam locomotive is built, they might set the new speed record, this is due to the fact of how the T1 was said to have set it in the mid 40s-50s although it was never really confirmed...
I believe they did get a lot of backlash for that and aren't really that interested in beating the record anymore.
@@B4T4LI4 oh
Not even seen a comment suggesting the 180, I'm offended
The British have a strange sense of what is beautiful. Granted, none of these are an EMD E or F unit.... but the class 68? The 314? And I know there are a lot of fans of the class 43, but I just don't think they are 'beautiful.' maybe half-beautiful at most on an aesthetic level.
Jeffrey Ornstein your American aren't you
I'm a Ghanaian and I live in London :D, though even I don't understand where those votes come from lol, though im guessing they got this video title confused for most classic trains, for me, even the top 5 beautiful UK trains would be 5, the class 508 in connex South Eastern wrap, 4, class 319 in network Southcentral wrap, 3, class 465 networker in current southeastern wrap, class 171 turbostar, southern class 377 electrostar, original style with smaller headlamps and new style with rounded windows, oh, maybe 1st would go to Thameslink class 700 :D, and other mentions, class 424 networker classic and the modern and sleek class 345 aventra :)
All american trains look the same to me i'm afraid, they have no character either whereas british trains do
The 314 is being scrapped this year.
Pikachu Plays Roblox THANKS 385s for ruining our Old 314s
ok people arguing about whats good and whats bad, its a VOTE. it's literally just everyone else's opinions that watch THIS channel.
For me, the most beautiful diesel of all is the Hymek. I would also add in, on the steam side, the original West Country/Battle of Britain.
No Class 87? :-(
43 it’s in first place
My top 10 (ik pacer is 10th but I like it)
10- Class 143
9- 313
8- 91
7-196
6-710
5-345
4- 166/5
3-68
2-222/1/0
1- HST (of course)
A beautiful video. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. ♡ T.E.N.
2:50 I LOVE CLASS 68'S DIRECT RAIL
I can only reiterate other comments, a 314 really !!!! and no Western or Deltic or even some of the old prototypes like 10000/ 10001 or Kestrel ?
Is that last shot of the 125s (in various train company liveries) all locos waiting to be scrapped?
HST for sure is 3rd but disagree with 2nd place 68, 6th Place for Pentolino.. How about Flying Scotsman, Class 47, Class 87 locos ?
Wow there are some ugly things in this list, some people just don't have taste.
You ain't seen my wife....
Class 37’s are great
Class 47's and 50's should be on this list.
Why are they no Avanti west Coast
The IC225 should have been far higher up the list imo, beautiful train with chime horn. Blunt end of Class 91 means better aerodynamics when coupled to carriages as is the case for Class 43 of course.
I agree with the choices on this one the hst's are my favourite locomotive and I agree to be first place and very pleased to see the coronation scot locomotive beautiful design
Surprised that the Networkers and APT didn’t make the list.
I don't think 'beautiful' is a word I'd use to describe the Networkers.
I'm surprised the Flying Scotsman isn't on here, personally (I always felt it was beautiful, not just its reputation)
The ATP was prototype
Ja ck but it still ran, it was a train, also quite good looking.
Both are ugly as each other
03:21 the inter city 125 is soo cool
These hst pics goes hard
U can feel free to screenshot it
My personal good units list would be (in no particular order)
Steam - Galatea, Tornado, Flying Scotsman
The rest - Class 43 (only specific liveries and headlight variations) Class 66 (only specific liveries and V2 Headlights), Class 68, Class 88, Class 92, Class 170/171/172 (ex London Midland, gangways), Class 185, Class 195, Class 222, Class 318, Class 331, Class 374, Class 377, Class 385, Class 387, Class 390, Class 700/707/717, Class 800/801/802.
There are some proper munters on here. Mallard only 3rd? No class 52 and no Brighton Belle in cream and brown? Not forgetting the Battle of Britain class and the Brittania class locos. Oops, my age is showing.
Why didn’t I see the LBSCR e2 tank engine the fact that it’s the real life Thomas the tank engine deserves to be on this list
Not the 365, why miss them? Their fantastic EMU's.
Trainspotting Junction same goes to the 465
happy train :D
@@AverageTerribleUA-camr yeah :D
My list would go along the lines of:
10: class 332 from Heathrow express
9: class 314
8:classes 507 and 508
7:streamlined coronations
6:APT - either traditional or E
5:class 68’s in a nova 3 set
4:class 87
3:intercity 225
2:HST
Honourable mention:
The A4’s - already got a steam loco that looks like an A4 (ish)
1: class 390 - pendilimo
Next: Do the top 10 most beautiful looking new trains
sorry but the class 68 is the ugliest train i seen, looks like the nissan juke, the ugliest car i seen
what about you do a pool with the top 10 fastest trains in the uk?
the fire eward that's easy the fastest is 1. Is Eurostar, then 2. Is Javelin cause 140 mph and probably the rest like hst, new class 800, etc get 3. Cause all of them top out 125 mph in UK service. Easy to figure out top 3 spots fastest top speed wise.
The rest is more tricky.
1) Class 374 (219mph) 2) Class 373 (209mph) 3) Class 91 (162mph) 4) Class 390 (161mph) 5) Class 395 (157mph) 6) Class 43 (148mph) 7) Class 800 (140mph) then they're mostly all 125mph
Alasdair Clift the class 800 max speed is design speed rest were proven upon actual testing
The class 800 figure I gave was the maximum reported speed it has ever reached. They haven't done an official speed test yet so that's why it's the same as the design speed. If they were to do a speed test of it and release figures then I would update it
314 is a duck...its horrid....mallard what a beautiful sight in full speed as is HST...by far the best....sounds awesome and looks it too at full beans
Would have liked to have seen the following classes of loco's - 87 , 47 and a 50.
how to trigger people;
most beautiful train in the uk is the pacer
no
Macabread ya
they're literally the worst 😂
The pacers are quite cute and they are cool i dont care if they are just buses on an old freight waggon
BROTTHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Good to see that the class 43 is in first
i love the intercitu 125s flying bannana yellow white and blue livery beacuse its a classic
Love the hst as a regular passenger on the ECML am going to miss standing next to the door in between the carriages with the window down feeling 125mph on my face cant beat it and no i dont stick my head out im not an idiot just rest on the door just so i can feel the air on my face cant beat that feeling wont feel it ever again when the azumas take over 😥😥
What's up everyone. I'm from Belarus but I really like British trains. The Class 125 is one of my favorites so far.
And were is the WESTERN!!! quite possibly the most Handsome Diesel Locomotive ever built!!
Looking a bit dated now compared to Class 47 or even the Hymeks.
Craig Z List yeah you say that yet there are 2 steam engines on this list... 1930's technology, yes they are both streamliners who most will conceive as being beautiful but neither is a train that you still see on the rails every day in fact I think there is only one A4 in operational condition and it's not mainline certified so how can they and a box on wheels such as the class 314 make it into this list? They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if that's the case then many of this channels viewers must be blind
Problem is that there is an ever-changing number of us who remember seeing these beauties in action - and vote for them. Yes, I was surprised not to see the Western - or even a mighty Deltic, in the list...
Surprisingly, on the top 10 ugliest trains video on this channel.
I quite like the Western because it is Handsome
Class 37😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Why can’t the 390 be in 1st place? It deserves to be because of it’s iconic tilt at around 10*
I love the class 91 I actually have a hornby 91 ic livery
yes class 390
Your right 390 pendilino or class 390
I went on one to Glasgow from Carlisle
Mallard should be 1st
No it should not be glassgow life chose what place they will be in
No HSTs for life
I hate mallard
Mallard is very good but the HST is genuinely better
86? 314? Really? Well you can't argue about taste with people who enjoy mince with peppermint...
And the 332 was probably put in here by people landing at Heathrow and knowing only this British train :D
And now for the REAL question: Where's them 442s? Deltics? 800s? Even the 170 and Networkers beat some of these in the right livery!
As with the "ugly" list, I'm not sure that I would entirely agree with this "top ten" but this is quite simply a great video and so good to see a clip of "old" film re. the "Princess Coronation" and loved the shots of both A4 and HSTs Thanks!
GO HST!!!!! Love the roar of the engines at max power, will be a shame when they are finally gone. I hope at least 2 power cars are preserved.
No 008!? No Deltic!? APT!?
Are you all mental? 😂
I love the 008, that big radiator, the chevrons. Wee, stocky...
One used to park on a siding at Irvine. One of my earliest memories...
I’ve made a list based on my opinion, I mostly like the trains with gangways but also fast ones..
My top 10 best looking trains:
10. Class 317
9. Class 345
8. Class 717
7. Class 357
6. Class 376
5. Class 170
4. A4
3. Eurostar (Class 373)
2. Class 08
1. Class 387
The intercity 225 in original livery is just gorgeous
8. and 4. are disgusting for me..
8. Doesn't look that bad. I do agree on 4. though what are on people's minds on for voting that.
I am asking my self, where is class 395...it is the most beautiful train in England for me..
Rok Žnidarčič and class 800s. Which are both made by the same company
2:20 Bittern not Mallard
No, Mallard holds the record
sad the 5th is gone cant be on 2022 they are on the scrapping line i think
A little bit surprised that the Pendolino wasn't slightly higher on the list.
I also thought that the Virgin Super Voyager was worth a mention.
Otherwise not a bad list at all.
The PEP Family contains the Class 313/314/315/507/508
Glad to see the good old class 43 in top spot. But i am not quite sure how the 314 made it to 4th! My personal favourite must be the 2nd place class 68, such an unusual design that makes them look like they mean business.
I love the industrial, mechanical, functional look of the 314.
I do have to admit the class 68 is very striking with that lovely DRS *northern lights* livery. It does make for a surprisingly pretty sight.
Also, can you do a top ten beautiful US steam locomotives video? Please remember to have Southern Pacific 4449 and others in it, don’t forget. Also, I want it here by October 2020 after my birthday.
I misread this and watched what I thought had been voted ugly trains. HST design classic, ditto western, and hymek , green deltic, trans pennine ,9F 313 and 68 are functional boxes. Wainwright D or Johnson 440. Now they are beautiful
How is the 314 higher than the Streamlined?
My idea of the Top Ten Best looking trains,
1. Class 375 ‘Electrostar’
2. Class 171 ‘Turbo star’
3. Class 465 ‘Noisy Train’
4. LNER ‘Flying Scotsman’
5. Class 313 ‘Seaford - Brighton Shuttle’
6. Class 350 ‘Fast Train’
7. Class 378 ‘Overground Fun Shuttle’
8. Class 175 ‘Welsh Boy’
9. Class 333 ‘Tunnel To Airport Shuttle’
10. Class 195 ‘Pace-Pace Replacement’
