Well, DMC it's an iconic car. Whoever has one of these has a rarity in the garage.
You know I saw one at a junk yard before it needed some fixing up bad and I wanted it get it an build it up again as a project car but then I realised that the parts for it are super rare expensive as fuck

The Mechanics drove one to our store to test drive and also pick up a battery for another one,, it never started again and left on a tow truck.. when I asked what happened,, they said We drove It...

When I was in high school (1982-86), one of the students owned a DeLorean. I basically saw it everyday my junior and senior years.

-They built two Gold DeLoreans, a third was made from the spare parts of the two.
-Ital Design did the aesthetics, the engineering was primarily done by Lotus (British)
-Engine wasn't commissioned, they were cheap and plentiful, which was why they were used (and a turbo option was in development)
-No cocaine trafficking ever occurred. The only time cocaine was ever present was in the hotel room where DeLorean was arrested. Up until that point, cocaine was never mentioned, DeLorean originally thought he was talking to an investor that would save the company, who then claimed to be with the mob and threatened to kill his family if he didn't go to the meeting, who THEN turned out to be an FBI informant. All a set-up some still think was organized by the Reagan and Thatcher governments.

James Timothy Hoffman was DeLorean's neighbor and an FBI informant who was facing criminal charges. In order to escape cocaine trafficking charges he came up with a BS story about DeLorean wanting to traffick drugs because he knew John's company was in trouble. It was all a massive setup the FBI was duped into going along with. Thatcher's government was more than happy to go along with it, too because it was the time of troubles and DeLorean had had the audacity to put a factory in Ireland instead of England. Thatcher was getting back at John for enabling the Irish working class. When his factory closed down and the banks got it Thatcher had the British government seize all the molds and dump them in the sea.

They stalked and harassed private citizens and don't even arrest corrupted officials. The FBI is useless and cost the taxpayers money. The problem is that the AE86 doesn't have much of a history. If a video was done on the Corolla, you could make it work, as there are many more years and models. The AE86 didn't do much besides create Inital D.

If I had 3 DeLoreans:
DMC - 12 Car #1 Natural Stainless Steel (100% PRV Stock)
DMC - 12 Car #2 Time Machine Version (Lights & Sounds)
DMC - 12 Car #3 Painted Black with lower bodykit (LS swap or Twin Turbo)
Its proper name is the DMC Delorean not DMC-12 that was its original preproduction name as it was intended to have a 12K price but it didn't so the name was dropped
If i had a Delorean id keep it stock and daily it. If the PRV decided to go bust, I know of a guy who VQ35 swapped his. I'd put a VG30DETT in mine.

One of my neighbors has one of these unicorns in his garage. He has managed to somehow get an LS3 to fit in the car and let me tell you the legendary DMC-12 with a roaring GM-LS3 under the hood makes for a perfect car from the 80s I stare at it every weekend when he rolls it out to wash it or to take it to a show. It’s such a sweet ride I can’t believe it lives literally feet away from me

I've seen 3 DeLoreans on the road, one was actually in good shape and driving, another was likely crashed and repaired as it was painted red, and the third was stopped on a side street with smoke poring from it!
DMC did produce a few red ones so the one you saw could have been one of those.
I saw one parked 50 metres from the old factory gates.
my 4th grade teacher had a delorean she. One day she asked 4 kids to help her with carrying stuff to her car a she picked me as one of them. Holy shit if i wasnt excited to see her delorean i was jumping for joy. ITS THE BACK TO THE FUTURE CAR!!!! lol

It is true I do remember every time I've ever seen a delorean out in the wild, i've only ever seen one but I do remember the moment I saw it... personally though I prefer a Type 40 Tardis for my time travel needs, it's a smoother ride and much bigger on the inside
The Tardis breaks down more often than the Delorean ever did! And at least with a Delorean, you have control over where you arrive. The Tardis sometimes just drops you off in the arse end of nowhere for no readily apparent reason!

I'm a truck driver and I've only spotted two of these. One was, of all places, the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit, MI. The other was pulling a load down to Laredo, TX as I was passing through Houston.

what happened was he started off saying that he would only market his car in countries out side of the united states. he said that the car would never be in competition with gm. this is the guy did 50 years of corvettes after all. well once gm got word that this car was about to be marketed and sold for the us they had to have him stopped any way they could. they started off by making it vaery very hard to get parts. the car was meant to have a mid engine mounted gm v8. an l88 from the corvette with a powerglide 3 speed automatic from gm's corvair. and would have had a whole lot of gm parts like tail lights seats all the little stuff. but gm refused to deliver any parts. braking a contract and stilling lots of money. so he went to other places to get parts. and when it looked like he was still going to produce the car they had him put in jail. hell it never stopped dmc taxes is old dmc and they are still to this day trying to bring the car to production against every thing that has happened.

Listening to this while driving to work in my '82 DeLorean. Love this series!!
I sat in one when I was around 12, it was at a dealership in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I was with my brother in law, I saw the car as we drove by, and begged him to stop so we could look at it. He did so, and the dealership salesman, seeing my excitement, opened it up for me so I could sit in it. I've never forgotten that. I'm 50 now, and probably won't be able to buy one ever, but it would be awesome to be able to drive one!
I love all the back to the future quotes put in there. Deloreans are my favorite cars because of back to the future.

I live in a smallish town full of old school hot rod loving granddaddies (all really cool people btw) and once every spring we have a car show consisting of vehicles mostly from the 30's all up till the 70's. Some of the oldest cars I've eve seen were at that show, and you could find anything from old British racers, vintage military vehicles, chopped hot rods, American Muscle and classic super cars. There was even a Detomaso Pantera once, only time I've ever seen one in person. There are some exceptions though, including one guy who owns four DeLorean DMC-12's. All of them are in beautiful shape and I always look forward to seeing whichever ones he brings. One of my neighbors also brings his 71 Mustang Mach 1 and whenever I meet up with him we'll bag on each other since he like old Fords and I'm into German machines. It's a really fun show to go to.

Ramblin_DMC is it as unreliable as it's made out to be? If so can't you just upgrade the unreliable parts with reliable ones?
patrick carey It's as reliable is any old car. It has it's break downs from time to time, but overall I trust it to drive anywhere. People love to rip on the DeLorean but many have never driven or even seen one.
I've driven one, my good friend owned one, it was A LOT of trouble, even the gas tank leaked at one point, basically it was an unreliable, slow POS, but there's a lot of rabid owners that insist it's not so bad (hint: they're just rationalizing their purchase/in love with it).

When he said that his friends didn’t believe him when he sees the Back to the future car on the road I thought it was funny because I had a car show I saw the actual one used in the movie with the hover board in the Rubiks cube on the two seats😁
There was a charity car rally by where I live a couple of weeks ago. There was a DeLorean among the all of the primarily European cars and it was just so strange to see a DeLorean driving down the street, right past my house. I live in rural Wisconsin, so seeing anything beyond basic, everyday cars is a real treat.

I'm watching this in 2019 and I just got soooooo happy
There's a lady that lives a couple of blocks away, drives a DeLorean into Wellington (New Zealand) everyday at around 4 in the afternoon. It was a real buzz driving home after work/study seeing it coming towards you in the stream of regular commuter traffic.
Back to the future part 1 is the best. I watched the films more then 10 times each, also with my son. It never gets old. We also own the 3 Deloreans in 1/24 scale.
