John you may have passed away but your life was not in vain, it served as an inspiration to never give up on your dreams. Most of the time we hear stories of people who don't give up and achieve success. But many others are like you who did not give up yet failed. I keep coming back to this channel! Great production, great voice talent, informative, factual and most importantly; lack of opinion.. This is how you make a documentary! Bravo!
I had the good fortune of being the first person to go through a box of papers taken from John's Belfast office by a cleanout worker helping to clear the factory. He took the large box home and only brought it out for a 20 year reunion at the factory put on by the DeLorean Owners Association. The press were present and it was decided that I would be the one to open the box and examine the contents live on camera. I actually had a 15 min. advance opportunity to get a preview and gather my thoughts. What struck me was a Telex John sent from New York after exiting the Concord flight following his visit to Lotus Cars in Norwich, UK. It was addressed to Colin Chapman and was an action list of items needing attention regarding the interior fit and finish of the prototype. John's attention to detail showed a loving regard for the car. He wanted it to rise beyond being the sum of it's parts into a seamless artistic expression. A con artist would have ticked that box and moved on: Not John. I now have several DeLorean cars and being an engineer myself have great respect for the man. I also, by chance, spent hours with Georgetto Giugiaro, the future designer of the DeLorean coachwork, at the 1963 Turino Auto Show where he was displaying his first creation, The Iso Grifo A3. He and DeLorean passionately created a car that was truly special and remains so today.
People with true passion will always end up very high or behind the bars, there is no middle way for them. They say you need to be little crazy to achieve impossible, it's true in many senses. Greatness is impossible in playing it safe and mediocre chooses. I wholeheartedly respect his passion.

Very tempted to buy DeLorean one day! It makes the car a lot more special when you know the creator was so passionate about it and was willing to do anything to keep it going! Plus Back to the Future is basically my childhoods fav film lol.
Delorean comes across as an honorable man. Of course that is measuring him against the current backdrop of big shots. FTX, Theranos, Enron and most countries.
Christian...oh noooo! He acted in enough movies - sorry to burst your bubble, but very few women let alone people care for him enough to pay $20 to see a movie with him. The man can't act! He has the Clooney name but it stops there.
I almost want to say he seems like a great guy that had a lot of tough breaks but just kept pushing through it all. And in the end he didn't come out on top.
Watch the BBC iPlayer programme, it's all explained in there. DeLorean was looking for some quick easy money, and his friend told him about the stupid profit margins on drugs (and how it couldn't be traced back to him).
I agree with you totally. However, there was only a limited market for such a specialized vehicle as the DeLorean. Further, we don't know how much longer the UK would buoy it up. The workforce were all taught on the spot and never inspired any confidence. Most DeLoreans had to have quality repaired into them...
This video was showing up on my feed for quite a few days but I thought it would be not that interesting and would talk about the car and the movie in which it was featured. But thank god I watched this video. Such a great story about the man behind the car. He was a good man.

Very tempted to buy DeLorean one day! It makes the car a lot more special when you know the creator was so passionate about it and was willing to do anything to keep it going! Plus Back to the Future is basically my childhoods fav film lol.
The DeLorean's Estate sued the the producers of the film because it wanted royalties based upon the appearance of the car in the film.
Anyone else forgotten Delorian ?
Sad, I never realized .
Great Documentary. Thanks.
John Delorean sir you are a hero to me. You never abandoned your dream and the people who were helping you to achieve that dream.
Hey Dagogo,
Would you consider making a video on embassies and their working.
Geniuses are outnumbered, Imbeciles almost always end up frustrating geniuses that's the way of the world
How was he a genius? The DeLorean was a pile of crap, BTTF is the only reason that it hasn't been completely forgotten.
@@PistonAvatarGuy you talk about your crap family?😳😳😂😂

18:10 How HE ruined his children's lives? I don't follow
Yeah that seemed like a bit of a non-sequiter.
If his (only problem) was this drug deal ... his children should be proud of him .
Easy, he ran out of money, and once you become poor, you see people leaving you very quickly
@@filipzla It seems more like I've got a pre-nup than 'for richer or poorer'
Watch the docudrama Framing John DeLorean to find out.
Excellent job. Very informative and entertaining without all the usual unnecessary fluff. Bravo!
Delorean comes across as an honorable man. Of course that is measuring him against the current backdrop of big shots. FTX, Theranos, Enron and most countries.
Had no idea about this! Thanks for story!
This story could be a movie with George Clooney as the lead role.
Christian...oh noooo! He acted in enough movies - sorry to burst your bubble, but very few women let alone people care for him enough to pay $20 to see a movie with him. The man can't act! He has the Clooney name but it stops there.
@@marinazagrai1623 what?
Nah. Christopher LLoyd.
I picture Robert Downey Jr!
I could see that.
John DeLorean would have been proud of Elon’s Cybertruck ...
but instead of culture victory he goes for science victory
exactly what i thought
Failures are something to be proud of?

The Man Was The Best Enginner , Under Valued And a Person We Can All look up To, What A Man.
What a fantastic story!
I almost want to say he seems like a great guy that had a lot of tough breaks but just kept pushing through it all. And in the end he didn't come out on top.
I felt so bad for him. Always loved the car but i never knew that he went through all this.
hmmmm
life can be very interesting. I hope his memory never fades away. A man who beats all odds.
Wish modern execs had class like him with the ability to admit their mistakes and take responsibility for them.
I have respect for him. He is a pioneer that world was not ready for.
Somebody must have something seriously ill intention against him to put a whole drug sting to get him.
He should've gotten the hint.
Watch the BBC iPlayer programme, it's all explained in there. DeLorean was looking for some quick easy money, and his friend told him about the stupid profit margins on drugs (and how it couldn't be traced back to him).
if this were made into a movie, who would play John Delorean. Maybe George Clooney?
That would be brilliant!
There's a movie actually movie: 'Driven'
Plot twist - Actually John Delorean is Gepege Clooney
The movie called Driven 2018
It is quite sad DMC failed. It would have been very interesting to see where they would have gotten from there.
I agree with you totally. However, there was only a limited market for such a specialized vehicle as the DeLorean. Further, we don't know how much longer the UK would buoy it up. The workforce were all taught on the spot and never inspired any confidence. Most DeLoreans had to have quality repaired into them...
Love your videos Dagoge. Especially your husky voice explaining things.
This video was showing up on my feed for quite a few days but I thought it would be not that interesting and would talk about the car and the movie in which it was featured. But thank god I watched this video. Such a great story about the man behind the car. He was a good man.
you should've covered the some what recent try on reviving the brand/car.
I'm glad that in the end, he could let go of his ego and was free. I wonder, how many of us could do that.
Rest in Peace, Legend 🙏❤️
Greetings from Pakistan. Me and my kids are hooked to your channel that we recently discovered. Great job. Delorean’s tale was a great one and kids could connect to it because of back to the future movie. I saw this movie in my teens and had no idea of the significance of this car. Keep up the good job.
I am really thrilled to learn about his courage and dedication long live the DeLorean Dream, thanks Mr. Dgogo
9:30 *The car end up being slow. With a 0 to 60 time of 10 seconds.*
What was its time for 0 to 88 miles per hour ????
About minus 30 years... Lol
Last I checked John DeLorean never profited from emeralds gotten by slave mining so there is at least one big difference that makes John cooler. Also John didn't have a twitter where he was constantly melting down.
Very very very few people know this about the Musk's
I met John DeLorean in the 1980's :-)
And ...........?
Nah

Your videos are always fascinating, informative, crisp, chill and an absolute joy to watch. This video was no exception to the rule.
That said the most exciting thing I've ever heard you say in the entirety of your video library was at the very tail end of this video where you stated the next video will be of yourself. I don't believe I'm alone here when I say it's WAY overdue.
I'm jittery with anticipation, DA!
What a great man, don't care what anyone else says. There are people who don't take any risks and never try for there dreams. He also helped a lot of people in Ireland. He is an inspiration and in sorry it went the way it did for him
"A few weeks after the trial, his wife left him". Yeah, that's totally unusual for chicks to leave once the bucks ain't coming in

@Jamilah Toenailkilla I’m guessing you don’t talk to many good guys in relationships, beauty may open the door but the brain walks through
@Jamilah Toenailkilla Its cause women mainly only want men for their money
@Jamilah Toenailkilla Huge generalisation and very sexist.
Rich men desire young women and young women desire rich men. When either of those factors disappears the other is out the door.

What a sad Story. 😢😢😢 Great way to start a Monday lol .

What an amazing story! Excellent episode of CF.
19:05: "John's life had the hallmarks of a blockbuster movie." well there is a 2019 movie called "Driven" :)
