Beautiful music, wonderful guitar and charismatic vocals. The music of the 80s sounded so beautiful. Now you can rarely hear something so wonderful. Poetry for the ears and body. Thank you Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits.
What I love about this version is that a guitar god is on stage, simply playing background guitar for another one, knowing that even though his playing is beautiful like crazy, this one is Mark's alone...

Man, that moment at the end where the audience is roaring and Knopfler tries to speak but clearly gets choked up and can’t…powerful magical stuff. One of the most profound performances and totally fitting to honor Mandela. Emotional video.
I was 15 at the time and I loved Dire Straits. In the Netherlands this concert was on the radio in the evening around 9pm I think and I was waiting with my TDK SA90 tape to get ready and record my favorite band, Dire Straits. During the recording I got into a huge fight with my dad because I had to go bed and sleep and be fit for school the next day. 'But don't you realize how important this is!?' I cried out. In the sort of struggle in my bedroom where my dad tried to push all the buttons on my tiny stereo at once.. that little stereo which I got second hand and bought from all the money I had which was 65 guilders at the time, that struggle made me loose some 15 seconds in the middle of this song. I was horrified. Seeing this brings me right back to that time.. where the only important things in life were girls and music. Oh man, how little did I know..
Very different sound compared to his Les Paul. But the more I listen to it, the more I am inclined to say that this has to be one of the best guitar performances of all times. The emotion, skills, the expression, the sincerety is mind blowing. His friend Eric's expression at 6:58 says it all... Mozart is smiling from above
"There will never be anything in the world that makes me vibrate and move like the music of the 70s... Thank you God for allowing me to have known and enjoyed this... greetings from Argentina!"🎶🤟🏻
The last minute… the flutes slowly fading out, the moment he goes to speak but is too emotional, and the rage in the guitar at the end. Spine chilling, heartbreaking and brilliant.
If you confine yourself to today's charting songs, you miss the good stuff that didn't chart. Just like this song only got to 16 in the UK and didn't chart at all in the US.
Amen 🙏 thank you for letting me know that we are all treasured for the right things ❤
QUANDO SUONA CON LA CHITARRA KNOPFER TI SALE IL CUORE IN GOLA, AMICA MIA FATTI CORAGGIO E VAI AVANTI E' SEMPRE FELICE IL TUO PAPA' E' SEMPRE VICINO A T'E`

Great Generation . Great People. Great Music. Great World.
Today?? Lost World.
Great logic)
It's just a different world. Covid, Putin, different shit different day. I listen to this to think of a friend, long gone but never forgotten. I'm 53, miss you mate. Wdds, Rudd and feckin pisseds softness. Cheers, PT
Today? We got Dylan Mulvaney, Lia Thomas, and the Bidens.
All good things come to an end. Breathtaking music like this is still amazing some 40 years later ❤
Boomers made good music but that's all the positive stuff about them
Mark Knopler is a genuine genius. November 2024
Best ever live version of this song. The emotion he shares is amazing.
Yes it is great ❤
Un plaisrr ecouter Mark Knofler. alwais
Tre jolly!
Mark just looks like some kind of Music God when he play this.
homesickness, the losses, the pain, the sadness, and the outrage.
No other song I know of check all those boxes.
It's... just beautiful

When the guitar cries...Sir Mark Knopffler...national treasure.
Best final solo of a song ever what an improvisation by the master I’m in tears😊
the absolute greatest song and track ever created ..and if people dont understand how that is the greatest solo EVER played-..i feel sorry for them
Very different sound compared to his Les Paul. But the more I listen to it, the more I am inclined to say that this has to be one of the best guitar performances of all times. The emotion, skills, the expression, the sincerety is mind blowing. His friend Eric's expression at 6:58 says it all... Mozart is smiling from above

Went to this tour in Brisbane Australia 1987, great show, great song
"There will never be anything in the world that makes me vibrate and move like the music of the 70s... Thank you God for allowing me to have known and enjoyed this... greetings from Argentina!"🎶🤟🏻
Album and single released 1985.

Mark
The last minute… the flutes slowly fading out, the moment he goes to speak but is too emotional, and the rage in the guitar at the end. Spine chilling, heartbreaking and brilliant.
My brother died in Afghanistan and this is his song.
The first time I heard this song, I was coming back from Desert Storm. We lost eight in a helicopter crash. This song always touches me..
My brother too but Iraq

Now let's be clear. This is music, not today's bullshit
If you confine yourself to today's charting songs, you miss the good stuff that didn't chart. Just like this song only got to 16 in the UK and didn't chart at all in the US. I love the artistry and emotion and talent of this song, but there are a lot of great young artists out there even today. You just have to look for it.
@@jithel7948 Yes, but back then, in TOP100 there were like 60 rock songs. And now? One, two, I guess zero.
@@beerforedd7897social media has made it so the chart topping songs are catchy and replayable. There’s still A LOT of really exceptional artists making music, even in the rock genre. But modern chart songs do feel lifeless I agree. Nostalgia also is heavy
❤😮😂😂@@jithel7948
this is the best live version i've ever heard
Best version of brother in arms
Even better than studio version.
This is the best live Version of Brothers in Arms I found on YT
