I just love the fact that GF keeps the B/W feeling on the DLC, the songs is the clear example of that.
It just feels like you are really in Unova.
Music theory is amazing at that. Each region has its own vibe and it really works well you translate a vibe into another game. Playing in BB Academy really feels like playing in Unova. In fact I could say it doesn't even feel like playing SV, you're literally playing a BW remake.

Worth noting that due to the little flourishes at the start, the BB Academy Trainer theme seems to be based on BW2's version of the Trainer theme rather than BW1's!
It's a mixture of both themes. The bassline is reminiscent of bw1's trainer theme.
BW and B2W2 use the same Trainer Battle Theme. The one different is the Wild Battle Theme (edit: maybe you're referring to the Subway version of the theme 🤔).
@Erableto listen closely to the bass line of both themes! Bw2's is different and more upbeat compared to bw1's traditional disco(Masada) feel. I love it when gamefreak does little stuff like this!
Also, I think the subway trainer theme is the only one that doesn't change in both games...

I like that we’re returning to older regions even without a remake. Sure it’s not an area we’ve seen before in Unova but the Unova feel remains in the music and styles.
Pretty sure the last time this happened was back in HG/SS unless the Sw/Sh DLC was in another region.
Unless you don't count HG/SS because it was a part of Kanto we have seen, then back to Fire Red and Leaf Green.

Gen 5 music was such a bop. The entire DS/3DS era soundfont was peak for Pokemon sound design.
Exactly. These remasters of the songs are amazing and I'm glad Unova is getting love but still that old stuff just has something to it that I either can't remember or don't have the words to describe

The only thing the trainer battle theme and wild themes are missing are the little “BLONG” sound effect when hitting the menu buttons in Gen 5 😭

I knew BBA was in Unova. It was stated when you met Briar after all. What I didn't expect was to walk into the Terarium, battle a Pokemon, and hear that. Just, wow.
I only just recently got the DLC myself and once I entered my first wild battle, memories hit me like a truck.
I love the fact that in the intro of the Strong Wild Pokemon theme, you can hear a bit of the Tera Motif!!
It only plays when you fight Terastalized Pokémon in the overworld. Really nice touch.
I think of it more as the AZ theme

Ah Unova,my first and unfortunately only place I spent any length of time in when it came to the series as a whole. Still got my DS with it's copy of White. But ya,I love the area and my team of Serperior,Lucario, Ninetails, Dragonite,Floatzel and Tyranitar.

Coastal Biome interpolates Driftveil City because Lacey is Clay's daughter. Polar Biome interpolates Opelucid City because they're both frozen.
Or just because Drayton is Drayden's grandson
Or it's based on whites Opelucid city which is the Dryden gym version. Also I like how it ties in with the city with the man made time travel side quest.

The Black/White trainer theme was always my favorite standard trainer battle theme, and the new arrangement of it just expanded the gap between it and second place even further.
I knew i was hearing unova themes in the terrarium lmao i recognized them after a bit of exploring also how many of you seen the chargestone cave they have in the polar biome its soo good i cant believe um so happy to see a cave with the same features cuz its entirely unique in the Unova region

BW is the best Pokémon game, but its at best a good RPG.
The rest of the games I think range from OK to mediocre to bad as RPGs. BW/B2W2 are the only good RPG games they've made.

I will say it’s odd that every different type of battle theme was remixed for the DLC, but then the E4 battle theme is completely original. When I went into my first battle against Crispin I was hoping to hear a remixed version of the best E4 battle theme in Pokemon history.
It's fitting actually, why would a bunch of school kids E4 would rock the Official Unova League's E4 theme. Because they aren't, they are a whole new set of cast 💪
I adore these touches, but I can't wrap my head around the fact that, with all the themes that were remixed for Indigo Disk, they somehow didn't even TOUCH Victory Lies Before You. Like, HOW DID THEY MISS THE BEST THEME IN THE ENTIRE SERIES SMH

Unova also got some callback in Legends, which the new genie being added to that legendary group, some new forms and evolutions for Unova mons and Ingo being there.
Their definitely working on something related to BW because they already have the precedent set that they do these callbacks when a new game based on that region is in the works.

@@sincerely_sillikers With how the DLC went for SV, there's a good chance they won't screw it up. And tbh, the only time GF messed up real bad is when remaking DPPt, the other remakes are a-ok, some are even better than the original like HGSS and ORAS

Honestly the music was good in Indigo Disk, but with this comparison, every song I thought "Oh yeah i remember this theme" and then BW theme would come on and it would just be so much better

I was surprised I managed to get the musical references right away with the trainer theme in Lacey's first battle, I only played white version once, but it's a pretty good theme so I guess it stuck on my mind lol

My first were the originals but gen 5 holds a place in my heart as it was kind of a reboot, with a whole oroognal pokedex. The music was top notch too. Glad Indigo Disk used the themes like this
The only one that I didn't identify was openlucid city. Maybe because I played black and the music is not different but a little bit changed.
i noticed only because i'm obsessed with the opelucid song LOL. it's one of the most gentle + pleasing town songs
Gen 5 was by no means my entry into the series, but there really is something special about it. Castelia always makes me smile

There are loads of references to Unova, in Indigo Disk and the fact we are more or less IN Unova as well is really cool. Also, one of the teachers mentions that he has been to 10 difforent regions..But we have only been to 9, so far, right.,.so..has that teacher been to the region that will be were gen 10 is set??

Man for real. In my opinion for the first hearings, I really love how the already really pumping Trainer battle got even more bumpy and fun. Like the Battle Train but it is bumpin on rainbow road. But the OST itself is just love. Gen 5 had a lot of bangers, no doubt.
If I had not gone back to play Gen 5 earlier this year, I don't think I'd have appreciated the Unova References. I probably would've held onto my hate toward BW for taking away Pokémon I was only starting to get to know at 13 years old. I was 11 when I gave Pokémon a chance, first game was Diamond. I feel like playing games I hadn't played in years, gave me a newfound appreciation for those titles. Diamond, while inferior to Platinum, I had no regrets finishing it before the remakes came out and I came out of it having FUN playing Diamond; so I ended up really enjoying the remake more than I would've if I had played Platinum. Same with W/W2. I hadn't beaten them in years and came close to finishing W2 once before, but, never crossed the finish line. But, this time, I committed to finishing it- IN CHALLENGE MODE. Challenge mode was.... a mixed bag.
So, finishing the Unova games helped me appreciate Unova more.... also there were the Legends Arceus Pokémon like Basculegion, H. Braviary, H. Zoroark, W. Stripe Basculin, H. Zorua and Enamorus. Then the characters like Ingo & Lian.
I cannot wait until Pokémon Day next February; Unova dreams will be granted or dashed. Probably both.
Pretty sure they will ruin it with gamefreaks recent track record.
@@RsWePVM I wouldn't say that. There have been some major failings recently, but aside from the bugs and development issues the games are still strong in theme, design, and narrative quality. It is a shame, as I do believe Scarlet/Violet would have been the best games in the franchise if they had taken the time to properly polish the titles, but the intersecting release demands of all aspects of the franchise, combined with the fact that they make too much money to require them to revaluate their approach to product production, does mean we have little hope of convincing the developers to slow their work for the sake of quality. We can only hope that a sense of professional pride in their work will one day drive developers to make much-needed changes to their design process.

I’m glad that you noticed! I noticed hints of the Sinnoh Legendary Battle Theme from Gen 4 in the Elite Four Battle music, as well as some GMAX Battle music from Gen 8
Oh wow the polar biome instantly sounded like BW to me. I haven’t gotten a chance to play any of the dlc, mask or disk, but I hope I can play! I love the music of Pokémon and for inspiration to be taken from some of the previous games is such nice nostalgia.

The route 2 theme is such a nostalgic song I started tearing up when I first heard it in the Terarium 🥲 Unova is my absolute favorite region so hearing all of these iconic tracks remastered like this makes me so emotional 😭

I legit thought these would be very subtle references but some of these are actually insane like the wild pokemon one.

I've a hard time trying to figure out the similarities at first because the notes are not played as the ones in the unova region but this video helped me found those traces.
I think the BB League Elite Four also has a reference to the Unova Elite Four in their theme. Specifically the beginning melody of the Unova Elite Four theme.

Out of all the tracks that they remixed, WHERE IS VICTORY LIES BEFORE YOU, LOW HEALTH MUSIC, AND FOUR HEAVENLY KINGS! It wouldve made so much sense to put four heavenly kings on the elite four members.
They did do that last one. There's a reference to the opening of the Unova e4 theme in the BB e4 theme.

The BBA Elite Four battle theme also (rather blatantly) references Unova's regular Legendary Pokemon theme as well as the Alolan Elite Four battle theme.
Edit: forgot to mention that one of its backing arpeggiated synth melodies is directly from Decisive Battle! N from Black & White, yet another Unova reference.

The Unova callbacks go crazy here & as a hardcore Gen5 stan, they're a treat. The most well known ones are descendants of Unova characters, the Nature Preserve, Unova music remixes & Chargestone Cavern. This & LA have been the best games when it comes to paying homage to past games. It's not like Gen6 through 8 where mostly Kanto was receiving as much attention as it can. It's clear that they're conscious about the fan speculations that a Jotho or Unova game is next on the line.
The wild theme of violet actually triggers a visceral panic reaction because of the confusion it causes my entire body for just a few seconds at the beginning every time I hear it. I assume confusion between gen 5 and 9 and the different look despite the music being the same
I had a weird feeling Coastal Biome was similar to one of the cities in Black and White, but I had no idea it was the Driftveil City callback!

GF is hinting at a remake 1 gen before the remake like DPPT remakes were hinted by referencing gen 4 in SM. Though its almost required now for a remake to happen at the gen 2x the original gen atleast that is my opinion. Execpt if they stop making remakes with the reason it was only for 2d/pixel games to be remade in 3d.
