I put this in my top-5 favorites from Opeth. Simple structure, remarkable production, hauntingly beautiful.

The whole song and of course that ending... That outro leaves me with tears! So powerful, so much emotion. The new Opeth is great as they used to be as a ProgDeath ! This album have so many amazing songs like "Universal Truth", "Garroter", "Lovelorn Crime" and so many more! Production and guitar tone is so much different, It's really heavy as hell but it's not sounds like usual heavy sounds! Thank you for great reaction/review 👏

Thank you! I've done Lovelorn Crime of course, but I will add Universal Truth and Garroter to the list!

Oh yes. Looking forward to this one later this morning. My favorite from In Cauda Venenum.

This song was awesome!! Opeth keeps knocking it out of the park!
Thank you so much for catching the error! UA-cam has a "reuse details" option that will copy and paste things from other videos for me. Saves me a lot of time, but I do find myself making little mistakes like this. I've also published videos with thumbnails listing the wrong song title twice now.
Just let me know when you see it and I'll get it locked down right away.

Live version is rather nice too, in part because Swedish (= original for this whole album) lyrics, in part thanks to Fredrik singing a little 😊

Man, it's still jarring to me hearing this without Continuum leading into it. It was always a one-two gut punch of an album closer, which goes to your point about the fade out. I agree in principle, fade outs can be a bit lazy and uninspired, but the last two songs of In Cauda... are dealing very specifically with time and cycles (so echoes and traditions, as you picked up on), so the outro feels very appropriate to me in a way that finishing on a specific note wouldn't.

That makes a lot of sense--thanks for the context! I had no idea about the lead-in. I'll always respect those and do songs together that go together, as long as I'm given the advance warning!

I really enjoy the way you interpret and express your thoughts of the music you're listening to.
As for lyrics...meh. I rarely ever know what they are. For me, it's all about hearing the beautiful music.

I feel exactly that way about a lot of bands, so I don't know why I simultaneously feel compelled to mull over the lyrics on basically every Opeth track.
Maybe it just seems like people will ask for interpretation of lyrics if I don't go there?

Maybe you could do a poll to get others opinions.
I could be mistaken, but I don't think Opethians care if you do them.

I am lucky enough to love clean AND growls as well as metal and prog rock. I do know how you feel though, I sometimes wish Mikael would do a one-off and write a metal album.
