Simon and Garfunklel gently tugged our sleeve and warned us about "The Sound of Silence." Disturbed and David gabbed us by the collar and told us we didn't pay attention. The price is coming soon. An epic performance by an epic artist.....
5:20 "Who is this guy?" That, sir, is David Draiman, and he's one of the best metal vocalists that ever lived. Disturbed is a criminally underrated band that doesn't get anywhere near the attention they deserve. They are also genuinely lovely human beings. Can't say enough good things about them, musically and as people.
Disturbed is an amazing band and this rendition of Sound of Silence is one of the most powerful pieces of music I’ve heard in recent years. Exceedingly powerfully sung and deeply moving.
Many thanks to Simon & Garfunkel, they have a huge catalogue of work and have influenced MANY current artists.....thanks to them for writing and recording this classic first over 50 years ago, warning us to not turn our backs on the world and it's willingness to embrace "SILENCE"........they made it possible for Disturbed, Pentatonix and others to re-interpret this great piece of music......
Did you know, the lead singer reached out to get permission, and they think his rendition of this song is amazing. Paul Simon said he loves when people envision his songs in different ways.
Here is my take on your take… ❤️ His name is David Draiman, the group is Disturbed. Your volume is fine, that is the sound of silence, which goes with the meaning of the song. Watch again and pay attention to the visual with the words. It’s very impactful. He went from here to here in 2 seconds… which he does multiple times, so so talented. One of, if not the best build up in a song ever! My goose bumps hit about a minute earlier, no matter how many times I hear it. Your stuttering for words is how I felt when I first heard it and I enjoyed your appreciation of his impressive grit/rasp and return to pure tone. I always tell people to listen to the original first and this right after to truly experience what they did with this song. His grandfather was a trained cantor. He chose metal so it took a while for people to understand just how talented he really is.
The lead singer is David Draimen and he was classically trained. Disturbed is a metal band. A couple of really good songs by them is The Light, and Hold on to Memories. Great reaction. I am not a metal fan, but Disturbed has some great songs.
Classically trained and also a canter for a while like his great grandfather! That's where a lot of his fantastic voice and control came from! A wonderfulan!
Yep. Genre don't matter. We know good vocals when we hear them I get goose bumps too.every time I hear that rendition of Simon And Garfunkel's Sound of Silence by Disturbed. I'm an old country and western music fan.
You get to a point when listening to this song, that it brings a tear to your eyes. Reason for that is because Simon & Garfunkel was the warning, David’s version was the it’s to late cause you all didn’t pay enough attention.
You are so fun to watch. I love to watch people watching this for the first time. This version of Sound of Silence gets to me every time. His name is David Draiman. Lead singer of Disturbed. He has an incredible voice.
Disturbed in one of my favorite rock groups, the singer, David, is the awesomeness that happens when you cross classically trained with rock. SO glad you loved it!
Singing is not about a great voice and talent. It's about feeling and emotion being communicated by the soul right into the listeners ears. Talent is 10% of the whole thing. This is power because it is from the soul.
People talk abou Pentatonix and the wonderful job they did on this cover, but David Draiman i 1 voice and absolutely NAILED this song. Haunting, profound, heart and soul grabbing, beauty!!!! Cills. Every. Damn. Time!!! ❤❤❤
I’m not sure if anyone has said this already or not… but I think you need to go back and do this again with a video that will show you the lyrics. Really take in what this song is saying….. Yes his voice is powerful and moving but what he is saying is what really brings the full impact of this song. This is the reason why the video has gotten so many views. The message is so true and heartbreaking and is even more relevant today then it was when he did this. The lyrics are not his of course, but his voice is what did the words the real justice they deserved. I can’t see anyone else doing a better version than Disturbed did on this. My mother who of course knew the original version was left speechless after hearing this version. She too says that Disturbed did the lyrics the justice they always needed.
I have listened to this song literally hundreds of times. It has brought me to tears EVERY TIME! This is not a song, it is an emotional experience. This version of this song will be played at the spreading of my ashes when my time comes. It is stated in my will.
I grew up on this song, (as sung by Simon & Garfunkel). I loved the words, but their voices were so...passive that I felt as if they'd somehow done their own song a disservice. This was a powerful song that no one really "heard" (sure they heard the words, but never really put the mesg together). This song is all about communication. The neon light is the bloob tube (TV). It's technology. (also later mentioned: they bowed and prayed to the neon god they made...again, technology). Even back in the 70's, they saw how it was already starting to interfere in true communication. But also the loss of people's ability to have deep and meaningful conversations. Talking without speaking (empty words), people hearing without listening.... How many times have you had someone repeat themseves because you weren't actually listening to them? People having thoughts and feelings they need to express but don't. (writing music their voices never share). "My words like silent raindrops fell, and echoed in the wells of silence." S&G were trying to give a warning to a generation that was already ignoring their words. This song was MADE for David. This is his song. He gave it the passion and anger that it needed all along.
I love watching people's reaction to the first hearing. I only just discovered this, and it's probably the only time I immediately loved a song in my life.
His voice tears into my soul every time I hear him sing this song. David Draiman is the best singer I have ever heard and his voice is the most amazing thing ever!
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant reaction! Wonderful to see your facial expression as the song advanced. Great to see someone of your generation react to a song of my generation, although this version is decades later then the original (19654, when I was a teenager!).
This is one of my top three covers of all time. David is incredible 🖤 Another of my top three is The Weeknd’s cover of Michael Jackson’s Dirty Diana. Which you should absolutely check out. Listen to MJ’s version first if you haven’t yet 🖤
I remember this song, as a kid, I didn't like it. Until this cover. This cover, gives Paul Simon's lyrics the intensity that covey the true meaning of the song. If you have ever lived or worked in Manhattan (NYC), it is a NOISY place. After a while you drown it out to the point that you don't care for others. That is why many say that New Yorkers are "rude", we really aren't we are rushed and overwhelmed. Thanks for your reaction. BTW, when I say "as a kid" I am 62 years "young."
You got goosebumps too! Didn't ya! I love this remake of the Simon & Garfunkel song, and I can confirm, since I'm 63 and was there when the song came out back when. I enjoyed listening again. Thank you so much! 👍😎
When he ddid this cover, he was actually very sick. He even drops a line at 6:07. So for being sick and doing this amazing puts him on another level. Wonderful cover!!
This is an awesome cover from the original in the 60's! SO good! But no one is better than Dimash, he's not even of this world. Some other great vocalists to look up is Dan Vasc - Amazing Grace; Faouzia - Tears of Gold (stripped version); and Alex Stewart - I Wish You Would Have Cheated. All great songs!!
Listen PEOPLE…..WE AS ALL PEOPLE ALL WALKS OF LIFE ….no matter your sound WE,…SHARE ….the SOUND OF MUSIC AND THE LOVE OF! Respect all ARTISTS!! SHARE THE LOVE! There is no one who can re~make a damn song like this FN GOOSE BUMPS! I challenge those who can bring it ON!!!
Another performance that'll give you goosebumps is from AGT. Brian Justin Crum. His cover of Creep is hauntingly beautiful. He holds 1 note for almost 20 seconds
I have watched so many reactions to this song. People who get it i see it in their eyes. I see it in yours. Cant explain what it is. But you feel it. Some play it off. But they get it in their soul.
Theres a lit of really amazing artists, past and present. And im in now wat an actual fan of Disturbed. But this is my favorite song of all time. To my ears there has never been a better song recorded
Please don’t pause so much. It’s interrupting the build up. I hope you listened to this all the way through for yourself without pausing. It’s amazing to listen all the way through.
This is a cover of a Simon & Garfunkel folk song, for a taste of what Disturbed sound like, listen to “Down With the Sickness” or “Stricken” or “The Vengeful One”.

Awesome way of putting it!!
His name is David Draiman and he has one of the best voices of rock in our generation. The band is disturbed and they are phenomenal ❤❤❤
STOPPPPPPPPPP.
Three names to conjure with... Devin Townsend, David Draiman and Will Ramos..... Stupendous in every sense
Nice bloke as well!
No. One of the best voices, period!
Don't forget about his other project, Device.
He's David Draiman of the heavy metal band Disturbed. I'm nearly 70 and I absolutely love this band, listen daily.
Doesn't matter how many times I hear this song I still get goosebumps
It’s strange. I get goosebumps at different times during the song. Different every time. Might be a reaction to their reaction. 🥶
Me too
this is so me, i get goosebumps all over from head to toe
I don't care how many times I listen to this I will love. This man is super talented
The grit. I lose it every time. So damn powerful.
Goosebumps and tears every sinlge time. David and the way this song is arranged is my absolute favorite 💜
My favorite song in all my 73 years on earth! David Draiman is amazing!
ROCK ON
Me too, also 73
73 and listening to disturbed? That's awesome
72 yrs here and totally agree!!!
5:20 "Who is this guy?" That, sir, is David Draiman, and he's one of the best metal vocalists that ever lived. I've listened to his version of this song I can't even tell you how many times and it brings tears to my eyes every time.
Same here. I either tear up or get goosebumps! Lol
I feel the same way you did. I found this in July 2023. I have to listen to it over and over. Wonderful cover by Disturbed.
Disturbed is an amazing band and this rendition of Sound of Silence is one of the most powerful pieces of music I’ve heard in recent years. Exceedingly powerfully sung and deeply moving.
This song is an absolute masterpiece! Now do yourself a favor and listen to it again without pausing, and turn it up a notch. So good!
they have to pause and talk about the video. for copyright reasons, otherwise a copyright breach
Tonight is the first time I’ve ever heard this song it hit me in my heart and soul is hauntingly beautiful. I love it.❤️
I’m glad
You finally heard it. Damien can sing!!!
I get goosebumps every time I hear him sing this!! 🔥🔥 David is phenomenal!!
I liked your reaction - emotional and sincere! You filled my soul, man!
David has one of best voices in rock/metal! Very talented man!
He has one of the best voices in ANY genre! He's drop-dead FABULOUS!
Absolutely phenomenal!! 🔥🔥
Agreed but I think Chris Cornell is next level.
Rock/Metal singers often have incredible voices because their songs are so big. They are often underrated

@@Bill_J_S yes, and he also complimented Pentatonix for their a capella, 5-part harmony version.......
Goosebumps every single time I listen to this song. He definitely owns this song with each note he sings.
Here is my take on your take… ❤️
His name is David Draiman, the group is Disturbed.
Your volume is fine, that is the sound of silence, which goes with the meaning of the song. Watch again and pay attention to the visual with the words. It’s very impactful.

I always tell people to listen to the original first and this right after to truly experience what they did with this song.
His grandfather was a trained cantor. He chose metal so it took a while for people to understand just how talented he really is.
The emotion David shows with the line "silence like a cancer grows," tugs at my heart.
The lead singer is David Draimen and he was classically trained. Disturbed is a metal band. A couple of really good songs by them is The Light, and Hold on to Memories. Great reaction. I am not a metal fan, but Disturbed has some great songs.
Draiman is the correct spelling of his llast name. That being said, I totally agree with what you said.
While reading his bio. I found out that he was in training to become a Hebrew Cantor. ❤
Classically trained and also a canter for a while like his great grandfather! That's where a lot of his fantastic voice and control came from! A wonderfulan!
Yep. Genre don't matter. We know good vocals when we hear them

I have been a fan since day one. They just keep getting better and better. Like a fine wine.
Disturbed in one of my favorite rock groups, the singer, David, is the awesomeness that happens when you cross classically trained with rock. SO glad you loved it!
As a metal fan David Dreiman (the singer) made justice to an absolute MASTERPIECE by Simon and Garfunkel
Cills. Every. Damn. Time!!! ❤❤❤

wow wow wow wow his voice is earth shaking so deep and expressive love his version
I’m not sure if anyone has said this already or not… but I think you need to go back and do this again with a video that will show you the lyrics. Really take in what this song is saying…..

I get goose bumps every time I hear this song!!!
I think the speechlessness you had at times was a perfectly appropriate reaction to the raw emotion of this song
Listened to this endlessly he is absolutely amazing
His voice is something else. DISTURBED you have literally made this song yours 😊
The goosebumps prove to me that you "feel" this rendition.
Your face was priceless when David really started belting. Great reaction!
I have listened to this song literally hundreds of times. It has brought me to tears EVERY TIME! This is not a song, it is an emotional experience. This version of this song will be played at the spreading of my ashes when my time comes. It is stated in my will.
так интересно наблюдать за ребятами которые впервые слышат вокал Дреймана)))) Особенно, когда слушаешь Disturbed с 2007 года)))
Great reaction, you made me smile. His voice is heaven sent.
Yup - angelic. Even angels get angry
To me this was the best performance I ever heard!!!

Just saw them 2 weeks ago. AMAZING!! Best concert in my 40 years!!!
My absolute number one song and version. Cannot get enough of this voice. Gorgeous
He absolutely nailed this song,it's amazing
I got goose bumps and a shiver down my spine first time too! Amazing performance
Great song, but David owns it. ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
I love watching people's reaction to the first hearing. I only just discovered this, and it's probably the only time I immediately loved a song in my life.
Love your reaction. Love the song.
Astonishing. Goose bumps. Eyes leak. Incredible ❤
And Disturbed rocks so hard! I always run to them because they have such driving beat!
Better without all the graphics you added. Great song and the best singer
His voice tears into my soul every time I hear him sing this song. David Draiman is the best singer I have ever heard and his voice is the most amazing thing ever!

I’ve heard this song a million times and it still gives me goose bumps.
Yep. I’m also speechless.
Pausing every 12 seconds...
Watch him perform this live it’s even better on the Conan show
Love your reactions! Ive been binging the reactions because its the closest i can get to hearing it myself for the first time.
This is the song that turned me onto this metal band.
When he ddid this cover, he was actually very sick. He even drops a line at 6:07. So for being sick and doing this amazing puts him on another level. Wonderful cover!!
The openness and honesty of your reaction just got you another subb. Now I have to go see what else you've reacted.
Paul Simon is a genius !!!!!! great cover by Disturbed
Classically opera singer
He’s David Draiman of the metal band Disturbed. They’re incredibly talented!
Once in a lifetime artist and song/cover
David Draiman, Ronnie Radke and Freddy Mercury are three of my favorite vocalists.
Make sure you check them all!
You think he’s going off now? Wait a couple more minutes and he’s going to really surprise you!!!❤
You can’t appreciate it fully if you keep stopping it too say ohh my goodness, you destroyed that
This is an awesome cover from the original in the 60's! SO good! But no one is better than Dimash, he's not even of this world. I love your reaction! This man is incredible ♥️
My Favourite Version of The Sound of Silence
Real talent, real music. Hard to come by with all the auto tuned garbage that's out there today.
The band is Disturbed, the singer’s name is David Draimen, and the song is called Sound of Silence
I love how your eyes just lit up like a Christmas tree.
He's classically trained. Simon and Garfunkel made this song in1964
He has a beautiful voice.
“That face definitely came out of nowhere and creeped me out a little bit” 😂😂😂😂
Goosebumps every time! ❤️
And a Heavy Metal Rock band❤
This is a cover of a Simon & Garfunkel folk song, for a taste of what Disturbed sound like, listen to “Down With the Sickness” or “Stricken” or “The Vengeful One”.
The musical ignorance of so many of these reaction video people never ceases to amaze me.
Perhaps the greatest cover ever ❤. Awesome reaction.
You sir are my favorite reactor so far on this beautiful song by disturbed
I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t like this song 😂
Glad you liked
Disturbed are amazing
System of a down too!!
Yours is by far the best reaction I’ve seen to this video 😅👌
He is a classically trained Cantor singer for church. Opera also
David Draiman is singing, I've been a fan for a long time. Disturbed is great.
This has become a standard for the band, always expected at their live gigs!
David and his brother were trained Jewish cantors. He turned to metal and his brother is an opera singer.
Paul Simon said he wrote this after a dream and the meaning is still argued about.
The video I feel talks of the rediscovery of lost music. One island find the sheet music, the other find the instruments and travel to them...
Paul Simon saw THIS very performance on Conan and loved it.
Poor David was really poorly with a bad cold when he sung it on Conan, so I urge you to watch the official video to hear David in top form and the visuals really add to the music.
