Good review. Some stuff I would like to see. - warm up lap before race - victory lap after race - ability to name setups - ability to use same setups on different bikes - ai bike pick up animation - realistic damage (applied to ai too) - quick load / access to favourite setups, both online and career. Maybe even a saveable default setup - ai that tries to AVOID crashing on to you - totally reworked managerial side of career or none at all
Jesus the physics. I've done my best. But I'm done. From a simulation standpoint, the physics is there. But from a feel and feedback perspective, I'm just not feeling it. When I find riding in real life easier...something is definately missing.
I have been riding dirt bikes since I was 6 years old and I have ridden every kind of bike out there, dirtbikes, dual sports, modified Harleys, bobbers, 600cc super sports and liter bikes. I am a very skilled rider in real life but I can not play this game to save my life!
Honest review, thankfully you actually can play it at a high level, nothing bothers me more than reviews by people who go "I don't play motogp games, in fact I don't like them much..." Waiting 9 days is a sound idea, you have a better overview of all the features. The general feeling is of it being rushed and as they admit perhaps due to factors outside their control at Milestone. Overall as you said, feels but more immersive but the things that are wrong/incomplete take some of the gloss off it, and the things that carry over from previous versions still not fixed is very frustrating. Great review, stuff of legends.
6:33 I noticed that too when I came off a corner testing setups at Phillip Island in Moto 2. I saw two marshals caught in my peripheral vision walking down one of the roads that I rode over to see. I couldn't believe what I was seeing the way how they were moving. Loved the little details they're adding. Though they need to fix the contrast. It's severely killing the perception to the tyres. They should be thick, rubbery looking, not shiny plastic. Because of this the shadow detail looks crushed making the rear tyre look quite scrawny. This annoyed me in 21 as well.
Great review! Great work! What about the "Academy" mode? Obviously you're fast as hell but as someone who desperately wants to get faster (and has been mainlining your content over the last few weeks) I thought it was pretty solid. A reference for the gold medal might be nice but I think the pace notes they have are a decent touch. Again, you put down phenomenal content and I don't expect any more from you but when I played it I couldn't help but think that it'd be great to see you go through the academy. Keep up the great work!
The academy would be for someone who has very little knowledge or is very new to these games, personally I don't think it would of made good content for me but I appreciate the support 👍👍
I like seeing a review by someone who actually races the AI on max difficulty. It’s annoying how rushed and surface level the majority of the reviews of these games are. Id like to see what u think of 19 and 20. Ive put around 3 weeks of playtime in both and My personal favorite is 20
19 was too arcade, very little rear grip, didn't like it that much,20 was good but as they game went on they tweaked the physics and I hated it at the end of it's cycle
I agree with everything you said. Great review. One more thing I really complain about is lack of pitboards in Le Mans, Silverstone and Motegi. I play with HUD off and like that element of realism to read the pitboards. For some reasons there are no pitboards for those tracks and they are not there for past few years.
I agree with everything you say, most people buy the game for the carrer so they should definetly improve it, now it just Feels like just an offline championship, not a "carrer" and also personally i would love if they made it possible to copy the setup from time attack leaderboards,
thanks you for this review i was not sure to buy it this year because of many problem we had last year with online server . i ll wait for a real patch with at least every true bike 2022 season and reconsider it
The Honda livery not being done was the worst thing to be honest, one of the most iconic bike and the bike that has had a 8 times championship rider won on it not being in its 2022 livery is just poor
Fortunately for milestone on this one the bike and track really feel connected. I'd like them to release last year's red bull ring Austria layout without the new chicane I'm sure that wouldn't be to difficult for them. I want more seasons 😂🙏 especially from the 500cc era that would be great but we'd need more older classic circuits and riders that would be epic
I haven't played any of the other games I really like this as it is. 8/10 for me as I have nothing to complain about that's just a carry over. Also the $9 it cost for it doesn't hurt either :D. I choose this over SBK 22.
I was so dissapointed with gp21. After your review I don't think I'll bother with this one. I'm not paying full price for a half arsed product. Might go back to gp20.
@@Dyl469 The physics are better, curbs are better and I can control the back wheel better. Most of my gp21 playtime has been in tt, trying to figure out settings. I bet they don't fix the bugs in creation modes too. I've had layers on helmets shift or warp and there's been a huge bug that won't load up content created by other players.
Great Review. Sadly I bought it day 1, could of just waited a few months and got it half price. The not having updated bikes and models really is hard to get over. I could be finished with moto 3 and moto 2 in career mode by the time the update comes out in which case in which case theres a big bunch of the content I though I was buying that Im not playing. If I did just want to play the moto gp championship the bikes are not there so I I could just play the 21 game I already had. I do feel the Handling of the bikes is better and the AI at least are not slow on the straights like the last game. Games like these Fifa, Madden F1 are often just called reskin on the yearly release cycle, but when the game dose not even do the reskin for opening day...what am I paying for!.
They need to bring back the managerial career mode from motogp17. That mode was head and shoulders above what we got now. Ride height device needs to be fixed urgently. And give us them 2022 liveries pronto
I haven't played a MotoGP game for 5-10 years and I'm a super casual watcher of the races (I'll watch 1 or 2 races per year). I'm considering getting one of the games but I don't know if it's worthwhile paying more money for the newest game or whether I should pay less money for an older game. These games don't change much gameplay wise year to year so I get the impression that you're not getting much more bang for your buck with a new game. A positive for the newer games is that it will help me learn the new riders and teams which have changed massively in recent years. It's a bit silly that the biggest selling point of a yearly release game, the updated riders and liveries, isn't present at all in this game. It definitely sounds like a wait for a sale type of game.
Was considering getting this but after your detailed review I’m going for GP 20 I’m playing on Series X so can play it for free on Gamepass win win thanks for the review
why would u release this game if the bike liveries havent been updated yet? one thing about milestone tho is that they at least laser-scan the tracks. unlike codemasters who use probably hand-drawn models from years ago.
Oh, that's cool. Never knew they are laser scanned. Even more respect. That was the thing I adored about Assetto Corsa. They too laser scanned the tracks. This was one of the reasons I've never touched F1 Codemasters since 2014. I've never liked the way how their tracks felt wrong.
Yeah, that is another niggle. I usually get lost with all the setups I've created after a while. I wish it was like rFactor where you can give it any name and date.
I know you like you said there's a lot of politics involved with games releases dorna, publishers etc. But i can't help but think Milestone would benefit from emulating what Kunos have done with Assetto Corse Competizione. I think that game came out in 2018 full release. It's a fully licensed, focused game on GT3, GT4 and a few other single make classes, they update it every year with new cars, physics, tracks as DLC. These games they can't keep coming out like this year after year when they clearly don't have the time or resources to keep putting a new one out with the same content and same broken content.
yeah the modern day cycle of a game every 12 months is quite out dated, would be interesting if they made a game and just built on it over a period of time to see what we would get out a 3 year development of MotoGP game
I am all for this. It would be cool if you could just buy a new DLC season and continue your career in the new season with all your stats, livery, helmet, etc.
MotoGP 21 looks clearer, less washed out & better reflections. MotoGP 22 lighting improved, colors better, grass looks better, better textures, better fans, better atmosphere, but the shadows are to dark & rain racing is downgrade. MotoGP 21 is more enjoyable & way better braking. MotoGP 22 has better handling & better traction. MotoGP 21 is same game MotoGP 22 no need to upgrade until you can get it cheaper.
