      Ghost pepper is pretty distinctly bitter, you can taste it without there being enough to be super hot.

    • @seraphim-enjoyer
      @seraphim-enjoyer 3 роки тому +28

      @@rinnhart Actually they're quite sweet like habaneros, that bitter metallic taste comes from people concentrating the chemicals inside them. Cheaper hot sauces often do that because it's easier to make it hotter while using less peppers.

    • @rinnhart
      @rinnhart 3 роки тому +5

      @@seraphim-enjoyer I disagree, I've eaten plenty of whole, raw ghost peppers. There is a very distinct, and to my palate alkaline and bitter, flavor.

    • @seraphim-enjoyer

      @@rinnhart Well the one I had was sweet but the taste can vary depending on when it was harvested, where it was grown, and the nutrients of the soil itself so having a bitter one isn't unlikely just like how some peppers can vary greatly in heat despite growing on the same plant. TL;DR either of our opinions are valid. I've only eaten one so I could just be lucky.

      capsaicin is actually probably used to defend against fungus. Peppers that grow in hotter warmer climates tend to have a lot more of it. If it was to deter humans/mammals from eating them too early, you would expect the capsaicin to be highest in the beginning of the pepper's life, but that isn't what happens.

    In regards to the blurring at 3:50, look at the sauce on the right. Skip 10 seconds to 4:04 and notice how there is more sauce inside. Clearly, the small segment around 3:50 was taken AFTER he already predicted the prices correctly but the editors thought it would be better to put that bit in before the reveal. He talks about the smell/aromas which is pretty important information.

    Noah needs to be a guest on Hot Ones. I bet he'd be able to go toe to toe with Sean. I suspect with the superhots, the cheaper one was Da' Bomb and the other could have been The Last Dab.

      I'd imagine it be a similar sort of situation as it is with wine, i.e. you can't really tell the difference. Sure, you can tell the difference between watered down crap like Budweiser, but once you get into actual real beer, it would be very difficult to guess the price just based on taste, since beer (like wine) is super complex and taste is subjective.
