I am not American but I live in the states and I own both Ford Taurus and Toyota Camry. The Ford is more comfortable, very reliable (engine and tranny both going strong) but sucks on gas mileage. The Camry is lighter, again reliable, but not very rooted to the ground but is great on gas. I dont think it is fair to make sweeping statements on any, you need to maintain both, regular oil changes etc l, watch out for noises, don't drive them like racing cars, get small problems fixed on time and you should be golden with any car. My Taurus has 150K miles on it and the Camry has 36K miles on it.

I own a 2007 Tundra (for the last 12 years!). I have not had a major repair besides the recalls a few years ago. I tried to tell a good friend of mine not to buy his 2014 F150 but he didn't listen. His truck has been in the repair shop more than I have brought my truck for regular maintenance.... OK I exaggerated a little bit, but you get the picture.

I purchased a 2017 Tundra last February for all the exact same reasons. I previously owned a Tacoma and wanted bigger for towing. I seriously wanted at V8 Ford but like you got totally frustrated with building what I wanted AND finding it on a dealer lot within 200 miles of my home. I gave up and went with a Tundra because everything I wanted and needed to tow was standard with the truck. I view the "no changes done" to the truck design for many years as a guarantee of continued reliability.

When I started towing a travel trailer I purchased a 2006 Ford F150 with a 5.4. It had 20,000 miles on it. With 89,00 miles on it the differential crapped out at a cost of about 900.00. One month later and on the road to go camping, stopped to fuel up and saw smoke coming out the vents.... three days loss of vacation time, a flatbed ride with the trailer in tow. It was another 3200.00 to have a rebuilt transmission flown in from Oklahoma. While I was at the transmission shop the mechanic told me there was some misfiring with the spark plugs. Come to find out the 5.4 was famous for breaking off one of the spark plugs and usually requiring a head job (2800.00 average). This is with less than 100,00 miles on the Ford. I contacted the dealer to see what spark plug replacement would be and they wouldn't tell me. With that I unloaded the Ford, got smart, and purchased a 2012 Tundra. I now own a 2018 Tundra and will never look back. Tundra is the way to go

Hey Mike. Another Portland guy here. I see this video is almost a year old, but I just purchased a one-owner 2008 Tundra 5.7 Limited TRD with 105,000 actually from the same dealership you purchased yours from. I was looking for awhile for a used model in excellent shape with everything I wanted at a decent price and local, not from Canada as most used 4x4's are. I found this one and was enamored at the value these maintain when taken care of. I spent almost as much as you can get a new F150 for and I actually feel like I got a great deal due to the reliability factor that Toyota always brings. This truck stickered at 44K and change in 2008 and it only depreciated about half of that in ten years!!!! Awesome Awesome truck and I can guarantee you will be able to do the same with that truck in another ten years. Great videos man. -Luke

A few months back I bought a 2020 tundra SX and I got a great deal on it. I had been looking at 2016-2018 tundras beforehand but they seemed so expensive compared to other trucks. I almost ended up buying a 2017 ram because of this but before I signed the paperwork I went to a toyota dealership to look at new tundras just to make sure I couldn't be persuaded. I'm so glad I did because what I found was the 2020 tundras are almost the same price as the 2018's because they depreciate so much less than the other brands. The ram that I was going to buy was $49,000 brand new and was selling for $28,499 at the time which is a huge difference. In contrast the 2018 tundra that I looked at with the same features as the ram was selling for $35,998 and negotiated my brand new 2020 down to $38,000. To me, knowing the difference in resale value between the toyota and the other brands sold me on it big time

Tundras and Sequoias are trucks that are simple but will last a very long time. Some may say that they are outdated, yes but the big three trucks Al have too much crap you pay for that you end up not even using it. And then will cause plenty of problems. I love my 2018 sequoia. I don’t need big is screen and touch up everything. I want real buttons that work and I don’t have to wait for the warning messages to turn off so I can turn the heat or AC. Simple and durable. I can buy a Silverado for half price in less than 4 years. They are everywhere for cheap. Ford is a little better on resale but not as much as Toyota. My review of my 2015 Tundra Crew max Limited 4wd. Pro's & Con's
    Pro
Best front seat out of all brands, widest and longest. I like flatter seats vs stiff bolsters
I like the large knobs, their solid
    Huge back seat for passengers.
Power back window great for air flow with one front window down a little.
Very comfortable for elbows, hits on console or door window trim area perfect. Great steering wheel feel.
I like the look of the truck, rich looking truck. I have matching Leer fiberglass tonneau. Running boards are nicer flat black.
    Smooth hwy ride
    Good fit and finish
Help or to make a better Tundra
Limited and higher should have a soft touch dash, less hard plastic in door panels & dash trim. Hidden seat bolts and frame.
Easier storage and cable connect area under hvac area of console.
    Under seat storage in back
    usb outlets for back seat
    Map lights for back seat
    Thicker carpet Limited and higher
LED headlights now on 2020 along with better gauges
Need to 8 speed Toyota has now for better mpg. Real world city is 12-13.5, hwy 16-17.5 mpg. All depends on coasting and how hard you accelerate.
Bed step and lighting in the bed
Dress up the back end some-plain.
    Little more stock exhaust burble
    Rubber dead pedal
    Locking fuel door
With 20's little bouncy with rough roads
Room for rear seat to recline some, take out some of the extra leg
I'm a picky guy and mainly bought Tundra for the best most comfortable front seat. Also figure Toyota will prove more reliable. 2020 brought the safety gear, bigger infotainment screen, push button start and has the better gauges than my 2015. Still needs better mpg -real 15/20 and overall nicer truck for higher trim levels. Put the Highlander Limited trim level in a Tundra.

I just traded my 05 GMC for a new 2020 Tundra SR5 with and 8ft bed and can't regret it. I looked at GM, Ford and Dodge, test drove them all even did extended full day test drives, none of them felt ad solid as the Tundra. Everything about the truck is positive, shifter movements, buttons everything. The interior is nice, but not extremely busy like a lot of other new truck. Only thing that bugs me if I do keep it, is it being a lexus V8 with the starter under the intake, which is super expensive to replce should it go bad. And my biggest thing.. ALL STEEL SUSPENSION COMPONENTS. No aluminum crap strung out all over to reduce weight by 20lbs, no VVT crap to try and get 2mpg out of a V8. Simple, reliable and proven engineering. Everyone rags that the tundra hasnt changed really since like 2008, why should it change of it works?

You made the right decision in buying a Japanese vehicle. There is a very good reason why Japanese vehicles are superior to American cars. My name is David and I am 52 years old. My father showed me years ago in the 1970s some of his science books on geology. And some of his science books on metallurgy, which is the science of removing steel from rocks and dirt and boulders to be able to make whatever you want.
A discovery was made in the 1970s about Japanese steel and it will shock you. It is a scientific fact that it takes a far greater amount of heat over a longer period of time to be able to melt Japanese steel. When this steel cools down it is very hard and tough and lasts a very long time. Vehicle parts breakdown for two reasons, heat and friction. Japanese cars last so long and withstand friction and heat to a much better degree. How do we know this? We know this because it has been scientifically proven that it takes a higher temperature to be able to melt Japanese steel!
    Thank you for your time.

Because she didn’t want to leave it at the dealership for repair and tried to make it home . 40000 miles on new tundra and 175000 on old one never a check engine light or anything that needed repaired on either truck . I should have listened to you when I first watched this video. Bought a 2019 F150, had a bunch of problems, now trading it for a 2020 tundra... I even watched this video before buying the F150... Shame on me, but at least now I will have a reliable workhorse.

Devin Cruz Lol the Tundra is actually more expensive to repair in a lot of cases. Yes it can go probably 300k without as many issues , but it also has its issues. It does have great resell value , but the Tundra gets awful mileage , has a dated interior. Towing is also below the leading. competition

I was offered a buy back or a swap to another f-150. Mine was in the shop 8 times in 6 months so I drove several f-150 loaners from the dealership. One was a platinum trim and it was having the same issue as mine (just not as often). Sealed the deal for me - buy back only.

      B. Ryan get over it. The proof is in the pudding. Toyota makes superior trucks than Ford. The truck actually went over 1 million miles with little problem. I had a 2009 FX 4 and my transmission was replaced at only 75k.
