Giant wooden box. That's looks like a cabin. Totally not stealth. But most people don't care as long as you don't back residential parking ( spots in front of houses) most will leave you alone. Especially with the homeless crisis. Lots of west coast PDs won't bother you unless have music blaring, wood stove fired up or dumping water tanks.
I never would've thought of attaching a rooftop tent and then cutting out the bottom, I was trying to figure out how to make one with a pop up and your idea just made what I wanna do a reality, so thank you
What an awesome fix on a rooftop tent 👍👍 I actually commented on the Tepui YT channel and asked if they would make one with a cut out bottom and sliding floors(like you did) but they never thought to respond... Kudos to you Brutha 🍻🍻 BB
Love the little stove. I’am a retired wild land firefighter. And have hired a lot of folks. One thing that is not enough of is a place to houses folks. So..a lot are living in their tents, or rigs like yours. Be safe, make money, have fun.
THANK YOU FOR THE MAKE SHIFT POP TOP IDEA!!!!! Holy crap!!! I have a minivan i am converting into a camper van. I am a single mom and want to travel with my kids. I can't afford a separate camper but my minivan wont sleep us all. Figuring out how to sleep 3 of us and still having room for stuff!!! You're brilliant!!!!
I had a chance to meet Tobias and check out his camper here in Idaho, taking a break from riding my V-Strom up at Banks along the Payette River. Super nice build Tobias and it was a pleasure to meet you.
Seeing him use a chainsaw wearing Chacos really stressed me out. I grabbed my toes and, for a moment, really appreciated them being still attached to my feet.
I first saw a RTT used this way on an ex military Swedish off road vehicle and was really impressed with just how clever and practical it was, bolted directly onto the roof with the base cut out and trimmed. Nice to see this idea still being used as it's a quick and reliable method of installing a pop top roof onto any vehicle, if doing it on a low budget, use a large roof cargo box, some used tailgate telescopic hydraulic rams and use a cheap waterproof tarp to make the fabric tent! This camper is really neat and functional, with everything the owner needs in a compact footprint.
The wood stove is something I have grown to appreciate and want. Not as practical as a diesel heater or similar, but way more homey and way more fun. Also free to run!
What's funny is I was walking around my neighborhood today and came across this truck and came to lookup builds. The second overland video I watch is of the truck I found
I actually, desperately, wanted to build out my Ford Ranger XLT, however it could barely hold any additional weight, just too light a truck, so I started looking at van builds because I wanted to stay minimal, but, I could not pass up the diesel short bus I am converting. Videos like these are awesome and inspiring. I can still to the minimal living, but the bus (living space 10x7) gives me the option to have plenty of on board water supply.
Chill ass dude. Ya if you're gonna be out kayaking all the time no need to pay rent. The ambulance did look like it had a lot of room but you have more options with this great build. Love the wood burning stove! Nice vid guys

That rooftop tent idea is excellent. I've searched for other examples of people using a tent as a pop top and haven't found any. I'm wondering about attaching one to a fiberglass truck topper.
