Ive seen a lot of van builds on the 'tube and even the snazzy ones have a number of design flaws, in my opinion. This one is surprisingly good, the fact that its his 3rd build really shows. No extraneous stuff, just extremely well thought out for lots of utility yet still cosmetically understated and nice. Not overdone, just right. Bravo!! Taking some notes 😁

Same to me. After coming home, sweatening from my different sports, a shower in a little bathroom would be very nice. Maybe some additional water would be useful. On the roof should be place enough for some more solar panels. And for rainy days a diesel generator. Bikes and tools can also be transported in a trailer. But anyway, good work and nice style of living.
Lol. No. I just can't imagine waking up at night to go wander in nature when it's minus -0° to find a spot to pea or dig a hole for a dump. My bowels are as unpredictable as mother nature. Congratulations! I really hope you are happy, and the van goes without an issu. After all, it is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter :)
I've been watching schoolie and van renovations and only have seen one video describing security measures. The young lady had alarms that would contact police and emergency contacts. Traveling and living in these secluded areas gives me great concerns. You never know what type of people you will encounter in camp grounds and other off the beaten paths.😏
Fantastic build, only thing I would add is a shower built into the floor at the Van entrance. That being said, there seems to a be a trend among van builders to NOT build showers into their second (or third) builds. It seems to be one of those things you need a lot less than you think. I wonder if the communities they frequent, Biking, Climbing, Snowboarding, etc... Are so well socialized that getting to borrow a shower 3 days a week is really not a big issue for most Van Lifers.
Hey, most people just get a national gym membership for 30 dollars a month and do all their showering there. Or just swimming and bathing in a stream does the job too.

393Dan No? You would still pay taxes you need to, but since he technically doesn’t own any property that he lives on, he doesn’t pay property taxes. You wouldn’t be put on a watch list for not paying a tax you don’t get. Also, he still pays plenty of taxes, just not a property tax because he doesn’t own a property (I mean I guess besides his businesses location)
"Yo wanna chill at my house?"
"Yeah Okay"
"I'll pick you up at 9:00 pm"

Man making his friend sleep on his garage lmfao
Best van conversion Ive ever seen. I have Van envy.
Haha thanks!!
This is the only van in the world that I like.
I have van envy too, his van is the best I’ve
Ever seen! He lives better in his van than I live in my apt! I have no garage!
100% I would live in your van and I would change nothing that's a dream van
Sheets?
@@kerrygwebster ahahah
Okay super weird but I actually passed you earlier right next to I5 in bellingham and then randomly saw this video show up on my recomended feed and read you're from bellingham and recognized the van instantly, small world!
Holy shit, I'm in Bellingham and i just realized ive seen this van lol
It's not random at all. Google tracks your locations, knows your internet histories and recommends accordingly. The world is much more Orwelian than you think.
@@age_of_reason chill lol
Jarek Yothers it’s just a prank bro
This is such a simple model! Simple build! I love it!
Man I just watched this video unintentionally and once it started I couldn't stop! I congratulate you on your project, it is very cool indeed, and it shows a degree of commitment, self-reliance and independence I definitely appreciate. I hope you enjoy it for years to come and maybe do a grander/bolder one at some point in the future. Happy trails dude!!
i’ve seen easily over 100 can build videos and this is by far my favorite. everything seems so practical and spacious. i have a hybrid commuter/road bike i use for exercise and that garage is awesome. also love the decal and paint.
SUPER DOPE build . I’d literally pay this guy to make a Van for myself if he was willing and I had the money
It would be super helpful if you went over the finances for this project.
All the wood used is inexpensive. Other thsn the solat equipment and the van itself. Would be cheap to build.
If you have to ask how much it costs, you can’t afford it.
He will get his money back not having to pay rent.
It's a tour not a how to
Lots
Best one I have seen from a functionality standpoint. Pretty slick Lost dude!
I have looked at a LOT of van builds and I believe yours is the best I have ever seen! Great job!!!!!
I'm about to be procuring a very small school bus similar to the size of that Dodge Van that you converted. Your conversion is one of the best conversion videos I've seen. And I've watched a ton of them. Excellent job!
I always find these videos so cool because of how creative everyone is with the limited amount of space
Dodge?
Dude, that's a Mercedes where I'm from!
They just changed the grill and logo!
lodewijk bergkotte right? It’s crazy! It actually have the same name 😅
It is the same, Daimler owns parts (or all?) of Dodge, Mercedes-Benz and Freighliner.
@@mattbolton2959 Yeah thought the same.... Sense theres the Daimler - Benz group going on I figured thats how there is a Sprinter which isn't really a Mercedes.....
Also the Dodge Promaster are sold as Fiat Ducato where I live and the Promaster City as Fiat Doblo... Think its like that for better marketing around the globe
and save costs really.
There isn't that much of room to make different chassis on vans they all look the same lol
Yea true, that's also what i thought
10/10, I only need a gaming computer and a dog, then I’m all set.

Mike: "So over here I have my solar charge controller . . . I have three, one hundred watt panels on the top of the van.
My UPS: "Current Load: 261 Watts."

A rollout awning on the left side would be a good feature. I prefer to hang outside as much as possible.
Yep absolutely! They're just kind of expensive and I've got so much space inside that I never justified the cost haha.
Whatcha think? Would you live in Mike's van?? 🚐
***To everyone asking where I shower and recommending building a shower: been doin' this for years, and finding showers is super easy! Everyone I know with a shower in their van seriously never uses it, and I would 1,000% rather have the open space and countertop for cooking than a shower any day! It also really complicates the build, and I tried to stay away from that 😎
sooo sick
Hell yea! But where is the toilet?😜
@@antonkvarmo1 There is one! I show that at 9:57 🚽
@@TheLostCo okay, i'll look again. Didnt skip anything but must have missed it! I would love to live there! You've made it so cozy and nice with all the wood! Love it! :)
Beauty setup Mike!!! I would need an indoor shower though. Thanks for sharing the awesomness!
Love this build. would trade some of the counter space for an enclosed shower/toilet though
next you be wanting en suite
Have you ever had a hot one and couldn't find a toilet? Or wanted to get to one but rain/ hail blocked you? Camping in a van for ONE DAY versus living in one permanently (as they are) aren't the same thing!!
It's a bigger living space than many folk get. What a blessing to have your own place and to take it around with you wherever you go. I lived in that style for a while, and yeah, you're living in style right there. Xx
Definetly the best van build i've seen, its so neat and clean compared to the majority of the builds on youtube, wich tend to be a cramped mess. Good job man, looks awesome!
Thanks a ton dude!!
This is amazing! Beautiful interior, highly functional, excellent organization, clean & tidy! You've thought of everything. Nicely done!
This is by far the best living van I have seen, truly impressive.
Wow! Your living-in van is genuine. I have liked other living-in vehicles but yours is outstanding and above all you are quick in explaining! Your design are well-thought, beautiful and practically well-set. YOU ARE A GENIUS!
Nicer than most houses I've lived in, doesn't look cheap but does look super dialed! Sickest van in the game dude!
Good job on your van! 👍I love the layout and how you thought about every little detail. The only other thing that I would want in a van is an indoor shower.
Tina Tran and a mini fridge
@@tdwyer8553 He has the top loader fridge and freezer that look like large coolers. Yes, I prefer the kind that opens like a regular fridge, too, out of convenience, but top loaders are more energy efficient, though.
Tina Tran that’s what I said to
Is it just me or does this guy win the “coolest kid 2019” award?
Jon Robberson definitely
this is the best custom van I've seen for travelling alone, I mean the way he arranged things, really just the necessary and yet extremely functional and comfortable, with all the things he really want on the go. awesome video
THE most detailed van tour, so cool my dude I'd deff live in that and cruise up to ferny
How much did it cost when you bought it before upgrades and how much after upgrades? Looks awesome id love to live in a van like that!
I don't think I could live in your van. But only because my wife, two teenagers, and our two dogs would make it a bit cramped. Otherwise, it looks awesome!

Great build. Not sure why all the negative comments. You are doing what you enjoy and in a way that works for you. There are so many different options for van life, some may just flat out prefer the RV life but everyone has their own wants and needs and should be viewed with an open mind. Enjoy life!
This dude has the best van... literally the nicest setup ever..
yeah I came to this vid from a $150,000 MSRP Navion and like this one more. Needs an interior shower tho.
That's comfier then the room I currently rent, good for you. Though I admit I'm a bit jealous of you
This is one of the best vans/camper I have ever seen
Love the fact that it looks down to earth and not Instagram bling/Hippie rich. Its relatable and very functional. Great job
His tone of voice makes it seem like he's always asking a question in the end lol
n0ztic i cant unhear this now. Thanks.
Look up vocal fry. Common with Millenials and especially Gen Z.

WOW!
Just fantastic work.
It clearly shows you have experience in building vans, because every inch has a purpose; and only people who had that experience are capable of doing such a great job.
Congratulations!
I really hope you are happy, and the van goes without an issu.
After all, it is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter :)
It’s a dodge sprinter btw
I agree best conversion I've seen so far. Saved for future reference.

Mike, that is one of the best builds I have seen. Awesome! Love it! Thanks for sharing all the details.

They also offer Mercedes Sprinters in the US in addition to Dodge.
The US was slow to adopt European vans.
Is the ford transit still a transit or is it something different
Marc 9663 yup, they brought the euro Transit to the US some years ago. Would like to turn one of those into an adventure van.
Amer J. I’m from Scotland mate and the transit is everywhere over here probably the best van around especially the new custom transit

I've been watching schoolie and van renovations and only have seen one video describing security measures. The young lady had alarms that would contact police and emergency contacts. Traveling and living in these secluded areas gives me great concerns. You never know what type of people you will encounter in camp grounds and other off the beaten paths.😏
Do you have any templates for the design or a DIY forum post? It'd be awesome to see the before and after build process for this.
Really cool van. I would definitely be using this as a side job if I were you. You got skills.
Canadian possibly
