  • The hardest part done; the woodwork. Next session will be detailing and some light weathering, with lots of MGs & ammo belts.

Great job on the wood, looks very convincing!

For wood look i do a similar process but instead of oils i use tamiya clear orange as top coat. It smears the browns and looks cool and dries overnight. Your builds are fantastic by the way..

Nice touch on the wood--looks better than the decals. Could you have done this with an acrylic wash mixture that would have dried more quickly? Great series

A good substitute for oils is alkyd paint. They behave exactly the same, but are in a quickly drying synthetic oil base. Windsor & Newton make great ones (of COURSE!)

Hi. For future reference, place the oil on cardboard to soak the oil out of it, then it'll dry in about 24 hrs. Give it an acrylic clearcoat to seal it and then after another 12 hours it'll take a detacked mask. I've always wondered, the guns in the B-25 and B-17 have different length barrels and breeches.. surely this is wrong?? If you like a lighter green for your interiors, check out the AK real Color AK262. Nice build btw.

Hi thanks for the tip on the oils. Can’t comment on the barrel lengths I’ve no idea- one of my many modelling sins is not being that fussed about historical accuracy! I’m slowly changing all my paints to AK real colour.

Keep 'counting ' away there Nigel, and keep your critique coming - haven't seen a couple or 7 of those "wrong" or "incorrect" HKM heavies roll out on your platform, now have we. To the point. The variation in "barrel length" occurs kinda naturally as a consequence of the nature of these big builds and the individual placement of the positions, be they 'fixed' or 'flexible' - and I'm not talking flash - hiding extensions or an inch or 2 more or less of a standard "muzzle or barrel length" - Each build to each model maker holds a deeper and more relative & personal meaning to the individual and certain 'industrial standards' did result in a lot of variation from manufacturer to build lot to marque. Meanwhile, you were once a great source of comic relief and had us crying with laughter... for the few episodes we could put up with of your rhetoric. Just stop it!! Hi there. Do you think it would take a chipping fluid and overcoat doing it this way?

Building the 1/48 Trumpeter UBOAT, I used oils for the furnishings, which gave a good look but a long time to dry...

I know- about a week at least! I’ve always fancied that big U-boat kit with the magic scale modelling light & sound it looks amazing - did you use it?

@@ZeddysDad I am just putting in lighting which i think the model needs. I am only half way through as we have moved and its packed away. A real learning curve for me. I have some photos on my little site on you tube.

You need to fix the mosquito next to the b25 on the top shelf

just remember. ...the interior fuselages of b-17s, 24s and 29s were left in their aluminum state. this was to save paint weight, money and time during the massive assembly line process that brought the united staes to create the largest airforce in history-179,000 aircraft by the end of1945.-guiness book of world records.

Try thinking Medium Green, Dull Dark Green, Zinc Chromate Green, Bronze Green (turret interior) and Aluminium/Bare Metal. Then try thinking that Boeing - BO, Douglas - DL & Lockheed Vega - VE, manufactured the B17 from F to late G Model's. Then cross match that with reference material. That applies to the B24D, B24J. Don't particularly see myself doing any 1/32 B29 IF any manufacturer actually attempts one. Kind regards from Tuckombil via Alstonville and East Ballina 800km north of Sydney, Australia. MATE 🤪🤙

@@christiankirkwood3402 but a 1/32 scale b-29 would be fantastic. there is already a 1/48 scale b-36 out there. ive seen pictures. it's massive!

@@janehill9764 Not interested. Do you have a cognitive impairment ? - with 4 × 1/32 heavies, a few B25's, plus quite a few other 1/32 offerings like the Tamiya F4C, Spitfires, stc, etc plus a lifetime of builds adorning my place, my friends places, my daughter's places, there is a limit to available space & practical, dust free maintenance and actual display - some of these subjects just don't fit into a practical display case and we have huge homes. There are enough 1/32 subjects more than worthy of my time that will both fit in and conform to the kind of build I find desirable. To the actual point, maybe you should sort out & research what interior colours were used across the board by the various manufacturers version's, variations and availability in paint batch lot's over a few years of a world at war trying to maintain production quotas, 'free world' or otherwise. Kind regards from Tuckombil via Alstonville and East Ballina 800km north of Sydney, Australia. MATE 🤪🤙
