Love it! Straight in, no messing about with "this is the box. This is the serial number, these are the different languages on the box, it's a top opening box made of good quality card....blah blah blah". Other channels take note!
Yup. Agree 100%.
So right. And you can give me that info, but just don't spend 10 minutes on it.
Agree 100%. See Plasmo for example. Gets right into it….
I think there's a balance. In this case, the Eduard kit is a reboxing of the HK kit with some extra goodies and decals, so it would have been nice to see a quick "what's in the box".
Yep, this is my fav channel for that reason
Well done! I've been building model kits since I was 7 years old. Now I'm 49 and my heart gets happy when I see folks like yourself put their all into your builds.
Well done!😊
Thank you very much sir! It’s always a lot of fun watching us go mental over plastic🤣🤣
I love these models. One of the most underrated channels for aircraft modeling. Keep up the good work man!
I wish we could see more models that have little hatches so you can see the interior details a bit better.
Thank you very much sir! Really appreciate such kind words😉👌🏻
Yes. Strongly agree.
I'm still blown away with how quickly you can get these built and the videos edited!
It probably took him weeks!
But this kit is the best
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS BRETT
@@Kronoxa_ Many thanks!
Haha thank you sir! Just don’t sleep🤣😉
From watching "Masters of the Air" going straight into watching "Master of the build". Color me impressed. Great inspiration for my own kit. ❤
Thank you very much! I hope you enjoyed the series as much as I did👌🏻
Hello mr.mach!ohh boy!that is a flawless build!i build a revell b17in1/72in 1998 at the age of 14
And i was so proud putting it on display.ohh those happy childhood days.with best regards and sticky greetings from Brandenburg germany.faithfully yours.your modellmate.christian
Thank you very much Christian!😉👌🏻
Imagine my surprise when i get a notification that one of my favorite model channels is doing a review of this new kit that the postman still hasn't delivered. But no, not a review but a full blown build video. Wow, thanks!
Of all the things that you can wait for, to arrive in the mail, is there anything more fun and exciting than a model kit?
No worries Dan! Glad you enjoyed the video👌🏻
Awesome build! One small constructive nitpick is that the stains on the upper wing surface is actually from oil leakage, not exhaust. All of the exhaust was routed through the superchargers beneath the nacelles, while airflow pushed leaking oil (if a Wright Cyclone radial ever stops leaking oil, something is seriously wrong with it) through the upper cowl flaps. It would then streak back over the top of the wing until it reached the hot air discharge vents for the intercoolers (the vents on the upper wing surface that are often mistaken for engine exhaust), where it would be split between them.
Another detail is that many (but not all) B-17s exhibited an airflow quirk in which air over the port wing flowed straight back, but air over the starboard wing would hook inwards toward the fuselage, which would be reflected in the oil stains. This quirk was not universal, and photos exist of Forts with and without it, but it’s a cool detail. Tt
Ah thank you very much for letting me know! Seemingly I should’ve done a little more research into the fortress! Hopefully for next time…😉
@@machmodels Still a great build either way!
Just caught the comment on the clarity and fogged appearance of the transparencies - it is all down to the finish of the mould, the clear parts are highly polished, the 'fogged' areas are given a very slight rough surface. This has the effect of obscuring the clarity of the clear parts, gives you a perfect way of working out what is window and what is airframe/fuselage, super bit of moulding though, looks amazing. The only issue I would have with this lovely kit is where to put it! I am gonna need a museum or something . . .
Thank you for telling me! Makes more sense now! Very impressive as you said. Indeed maybe a museum or two will be needed to store this one🤣
Bombardier is the name of guy who aims the bombs. Beautiful job on this kit, I enjoyed you even detailed parts of the model that will never be seen! Bravo!
How cool is the name: "Bombardier"?
Bombardier is a far cooler name! Thank you very much and many thanks for the information👌🏻
Bombardier is a French word referring to both the plane carrying the bombs and the airman in charge of
aiming the target and dropping the bombs. It comes from bombarde a medieval cannon type.
Excellent work! I don’t understand how you do these models in a week and they are still better than the ones I do in a month! Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much sir! Really appreciate it😉
Amazing craftsmanship and thank you for explaining the fascinating highlight\shadowing technique on the interior panels.🔥🔥🔥
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed the techniques👌🏻
Once again we’re spoilt by a marvelous build..All accompanied by an excellent, informative and friendly explanation of the build, bad and good points..Everything clear and a wonder to view..
Thank you and all the best to you and all👍
Thank you very much for such a kind comment! Really appreciate it👌🏻
Wow beautiful you got my sub. My grandfather was a top turret/ flight engineer. And I was lucky enough to fly on. 909 be for the tragedy.
Really enjoy how you do these builds and your attention to detail is marvellous. I was watching your airbrush technic being very new back to modelling. You do seem to have the needle set well forward so there isn’t much movement when you pull back. Very controlled just lovely than you.
Thank you very much! Yes definitely, always found that the having the needle really forward improved control for me personally👌🏻
Putting the mach speed in model building again, most people can't even get this kit yet and you're already done! Turned out awesome
Haha you know it! Thanks for the comment sir!👌🏻
Cracking build. It’s good that you did not go overboard with detailing the interior. I would have used some more oil washes on the exterior for weathering effects. Keep more builds coming.
Thank you sir! Hmm maybe, perhaps if I did the build again I would chuck a wash on it. However, I was very happy with how it was looking at that current point👌🏻
masterpiece !!! my god mach you nailed it again !!!i wish my paint would go down as flawless as yours !!!!
Thank you very much sir! Try out Mr Hobby, and I’m sure it’ll go down just as smooth👌🏻
Excellent build and some great advice for anyone wanting to build this. I would, but it's so large I wouldn't be able to display it (wife you see) 😊
Thank you very much! The enemy of most modellers… a relationship!!👌🏻🤣
I am receiving this kit for Christmas I’m so exited this looks insane great job.
Just beautiful! Your variations of the OD green on top are on point. You did such a nice job. My only criticism would be for Eduard’s unsightly assembly gap in front of the cockpit. That’s unacceptable. IMO that would never have gotten by Tamiya engineers. Once again, well done!
Another outstanding presentation, Luke. Once again, beautifully built and finished. 👍
Thank you very much sir! Really appreciate it👌🏻😉
Wow.......No doubt a very nice build. Most of the interior detail will never be seen. Isn't that kind of like painting the inside of a wall.
What a great build.. your builds are full of enthusiasm and gives me confidence to build such a large model
Thank you very much! Glad to hear it’s given you a little confidence to take on these sort of kits😉
Great video. Thanks for this
Regarding the decals, you could have asked Eduard about this
They have a fantastic costumer service and I am sure they would have sent you a new decal sheet
Thank you very much sir! I am sure they have absolutely superb customer service, however, this channel is more about what comes out of the box first😄
Fabulous piece o' work! Proper eye candy.......👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻
Thank you very much!😉☺️
I love the way the Brits pronounce DEE- CALS as "DECKLES". To leave THAT as my only comment would be a gross injustice. This kit looks beautiful and THIS BUILD and THIS PAINT FINISH is absolutely fabulous!!! What a job! I build armor but have great respect for aircraft modelers. I watched every minute of this video in awe! My friends think I'm nuts because of all the detail I put into my armor dioramas, but at least you can see it! It killed me to know that so much of the BEAUTIFUL interior detail of this model will never be appreciated (unless you watch THIS video!). Great job! Great inspiration! First time watcher of this channel. I subscribed to watch more! Thank you for this!
There’s only one way to say it!!!!
All jokes aside, many thanks for such a kind comment it means a lot! I hope you enjoy all of the future content that’ll make its way onto the channel👌🏻😉
Why is it I can transfer my deckles (😂) but I can't decal my transfers. Just to explain, when I was a kid building models back in the '70s we knew decals as transfers.
Very nice work as always. Just added this kit to my stash this week. Will see if I can improve the nose section join when I build it and check my decals later to make sure they aren't stuck to the protective paper.
@@markburgess4528 Maybe for the same reason we drive on the Parkway and park in the driveway? I don't really know but I remember calling decals "transfers" too!
I find your build flow spot on a good flow with details on how you achieve your desired result. Bravo!👏👏👍👍
Thank you very much for the comment sir!👌🏻
Awesome work again mate! The Crosby excuse for the varnish a great touch to the video.
Thank you very much sir! Haha glad you liked it🤣👌🏻
This is the best b17 I’ve seen on the whole of UA-cam! Well done!!🎉🎉
Thank you very much buddy! Very kind👌🏻
Another brilliant build. Enjoyed that so much I ordered one 👍
Thank you very much! Let me know how you get on😉
Amazing! When I was on holiday in Poland,I saw the HK kit of the B-17 for around £80,however the box is so big I wouldn’t be able to travel back with it,so I instead bought Tamiya’s F-4B,as I have been dying to do a Phantom for ages, and you have a great video about it,so I might have to steal some techniques from it :) It is honestly sad that the decals ended up the way they were, but I had something similar happen to my AFV club Churchill, were the paper just stayed on the decal No matter What I done.I guess there are just some unlucky kits out there for us modellers.Great video and can’t wait to see you at Hannants, for the paint demo,I will e-mail you soon as of when I am available! ;)
Thank you very much sir! Will be keen to see you take on that F4! I shall await the email😉
Nicely done and certainly bit of a show stopper.
Thank you very much! Really appreciate it👌🏻
Nice work Luke, the B17 looks a million bucks, well done.
Thank you very much John!😉👌🏻
Great job and superb paint scheme!
Thank you very much sir!👌🏻
Great result! Good luck with your hobby. We met at Hannah's in Colindale last week, I bought a Walrus 😊
Thank you! Ah yes I remember, best of luck with the walrus!👌🏻
smooth and clear narration..
Thank you very much!👌🏻
I really like this! I want to get one now. It looks really good.
Thank you! Gowaaann go and get one!👌🏻🤣
What a fantastic job you've done here! The last B-17 I put together was Revelle B-17 Memphis Belle back in 1964. This one is much larger and more detail. My dad was a B-17 pilot in the south pacific he flew the E and F model only. The only small thing I see is the model sits at a slightly steeper stance and I think that is because they didn't take into consideration of weight being on the main landing gear which would have made it spot on for a true stance. I wonder how a guy could trim the landing gear to make it look like it had some more weight on it? Maybe filing down the bottom of the tires? I think if I buy this kit I might try that. It would be an expensive mistake if I messed up. Keep up the great work!
Ooo yes I see what you mean about the stance now, I think as you mentioned it would be an easy enough fix with some sanding of the wheels!👌🏻
Great build, my kit just arrived this week, can't wait to get cracking!
Great looking build! Shame about the decals, my biggest hope is that Eduard would just go back to using Cartograf decals with these limited editions kits.
Thank you very much! You can say that again😅
Beautiful work as always......I may need one of these now lol
Took me a while to find somewhere selling them, and I think I got the last one!
@@IrishSprueGuru Nice that you got one 😄I bet they'll sell out pretty quickly. Maybe I'll find one down the road at some point.
Thank you sir! Haha Gowan you’ve got to😉
Nice work mate! And a lovely finish
Thank you very much!
damn u dropped this quick! insane, good work!
Thank you very much sir!👌🏻
Awesome work!!! Can't believe you've already completed it. Mine hasn't even arrived :)
Thank you very much sir!👌🏻
Another very nice build - top job
Thank you very much!👌🏻
Bonjour super c'est du grand art modelistement!👌
Thank you very much sir!👌🏻
Oh damn, you really be knocking these out of the park!
Haha thank you very much sir! This a kit we might see on your channel?😳😉
@@machmodels not at the moment sadly, time, space and funds are pulling in the wrong direction 😂
Lovely job with this kit 👍
Thank you very much sir!
"Bombadier". Masterful work!
Thank you very much for letting me know!👌🏻
Awesome work 👍👍
Thank you very much buddy!😉
Great video. And to think, when HK released this, the internet was awash with comments about how the kit was "fatally flawed" due to the height of the outboard engine nacelles. Fast forward to the Eduard release and it's "OMG this is the best thing ever!"
Very nice job mate, beautiful work!
Thank you very much!👌🏻
Highly enjoyable build thank you😊
Thank you very much sir!👌🏻
Hey! Great build! 🤩 love the smoke effect 🤣
Haha I wonder who I got that from… many thanks for lending the intellectual knowledge buddy👌🏻🤣
Looks great 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice work! The USAAF called their bomb aimers Bombardiers. :)
Thank you very much for the information! That sounds a bit cooler as well🤣👌🏻
Bloody insane my friend 🤩🤩🤩
Thank you Matt!👌🏻
Absolutely beautiful build!!! and just for your translation. These things are about $180 in the United States.
I enjoyed watching him build it for free. Saved me $173+.
Haha glad to hear that I’ve saved you some bucks!👌🏻🤣
@@machmodels I admire your dedication for such a big project. I have a bad habit of getting halfway through a build and losing interest. Goes back on the shelf and I start something else. Usually come back to it but not always.
Brand new Bloody Hundredth B17 flying fortress thats a famous bomber four engines & the gun turrets very nice build kit. Nice plane besides the B29 Superfortress bomber four engines & Focke Wulf 200 Condor. Next time the Focke Wulf 200 Condor build kit.
Thank you Neil!
Great build Luke
Thank you sir!👌🏻
As always you make it so incredibly beautiful Limey, Detroit mad love for your work my man! 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸
Thank you very much sir! Really appreciate it😉👌🏻
nice wee build there
Thank you sir!😉
Job well done!
Thank you very much!👌🏻
Just beautiful. Thank you.
Thank you James!
Lovely build, nicely done! Gloves needed with lacquer paint though mate 😬
Thank you sir! Ah gloves annoy me so darn much though! Can never get them to fit😳
Really cool. 👍
Thank you! Cheers!👌🏻
lovely build. could not help but laugh at"butt joint on seat".
Haha I knew someone would pick up on my horrendous humour👌🏻😉
Sir your skills are AMAZING subbed!
Thank you sir! Hope you enjoy the content👌🏻😉
Wow this is so cool
Thank you very much!😉
Perfect build 👍👍👍
Thank you very much sir!👌🏻
Very good but for future reference B17 cockpits were never painted with zinc chromate primer. They were either a dull dark green or a bronze green. The floor was wood with or without black non slip mats. Plenty of references online.
As for the decals, one advantage of the carrier film issue is that you can actually remove the carrier film after application, with the careful use of a scalpel. It makes for a painted on look.
Thank you for all of the paint references! I’ll keep them in mind for the next B17 I get round to👌🏻
Superb ❤
Thank you Duncan!👌🏻
Отличный самолёт получился 👍. Надо рядом для сравнения поставить BF-109 поставить 😊
We should!👌🏻🤣
Amazing!!
Thank you buddy!
That interior is clutch.
Nice build. For the cost of the kit, there shouldn't be any issues with the decals or poor fit of the nose>
Thank you, very much agree with your comment👌🏻
Thanks Mach. =)
No problem sir!👌🏻😉
I have the HK 1/48 kit in my stash...so you're saying the Eduart kit you just built is the HK 1/48, but re-boxed by Eduard and some goodies thrown in? I think one thing that could be done with any B-17 kit is to add some patches to it where the mechanics have repaired flak damage. It would be a great detail if the manufacturers could pick up on that. I like how you made plain olive drab look interesting. That must have taken a weekend to paint the tonal variations. One last thing, just looking at the decals, this looks like a kit where a lot of them could have been painted on if the modeler had the ability to create the stencils.
Pretty much! Not a huge amount of difference but I’m sure it’ll appeal to the masses. Really appreciate the comment👌🏻😉
There are lots of refrence photos online for the interior of a B-17. If you can see the fuselage ribbing ( as here ) it needs to be aluminium, any green in these areas would be from sound proof padding which almost always obscured the ribbing entirely. The floor in the nose was wood from top to bottom, bomb bay would be aluminium or neutral grey depending on which Fort you are building.
Thank you for letting me know! Seemingly lots to learn about the fortress for myself👌🏻
I think you have the 'new' Eduard decals that allow the carrier film to be peeled off after application so that you don't have the unsightly carrier film to try and hide on the finished model. Maybe the film stuck too well to the protective paper (maybe kept somewhere that wasn't dry?) but Eduard would surely have supplied a replacement sheet
Interesting! Thanks for the comment, I’m sure they would’ve but in my opinion they should’ve been perfect in the box…👌🏻
Man I really hope the decals are good on mine. Hoping to do Nine little yanks and a jerk.
I’m sure they will be! Best of luck for your fortress!
Eduard decals have that issue a lot now, since they changed to the removable decal film type. Something happens where the carrier film bonds to the protective paper. Either there not being left long enough when printed for it to cure, or if they get hot and it stick’s.
Hmm interesting, is there a way they could rectify this?👌🏻
@@machmodels pass that’s why I asked, if they had yet.
Weird issue with your decal varnish, never heard of that occurring before but a little tip for you - if you have a damaged or missing varnish on your decals, you can hand paint varnish over said decal. A couple of coats of hand brushed acrylic varnish left to dry properly will do the job. I have done this in the past where I have had kits (Trumpeter!) with excessively thin varnish which caused the decal to fall apart in the water dish, very disconcerting. Varnishing the rest saved them though, give it a try on the kit decals you have.
Great tip! I’ll definitely try it out next time I have an issue👌🏻
NICE👍👍
Thank you sir!👌🏻
Awesome mate well done! Would love to do one of these but where the hell would I put it afterwards! It’s enormous! 😂
Thank you very much! Hahaha mine will most likely be disassembled and put into a box unfortunately as it is just too huge🤣
@@machmodels couldn’t you mount it to the wall somehow? Seen other guys do that with larger models and looks pretty cool!
Great looking build. That sucks about the borked decals for Piccadilly. I'd love to get one of these kits, but its a bit out of my price range right now.
Thank you very much! These sort of kits definitely are a little pricey, but if everything is not damaged my goodness you get a lot of plastic!👌🏻
Crackin’ on mate
I grabbed the original HKM G variant when it came out years ago. Between that massive gap left untouched infront of the windshield and the fit of the spine insert, let alone quite a few QC issues from eduard here, really glad i sold the original G kit and skipped this boxing.
There are quite a few little issues and niggles within the kit so I can understand why you would’ve like to have left it👌🏻
forgive the novice question, but as you assemble components, i am assuming that you are gluing painted surface to painted surface, is that true? However you do it, I love what you create. Beautiful.
Brilliant build Luke, the finished article looks very realistic. I notice the plasters on your thumb. Was this a classic modeller injury with a craft knife? #SkinInTheGame #Baptism 🤔
Thank you very much! Ah yes I’ve been caught out, very slowly building up thickness in my skin👌🏻🤣
As seen on Blue Paw Print the information about this plane aircraft bomber. Besides the Me 262 jet fighter as seen in Red Tails & all the Messerschmitts BF 109s.
Thank you Neil!
Just finally started mine
Uncontrollable air sickness :D
It would be awesome if you could perhaps make a video about making the airfix club 2024 kit duo
I shall see if it fits into the build schedule!👌🏻
@@machmodels thank you - I was asking for my 12 year old son, George, who follows you.
Great video and build. One question. How did you cement the previously painted parts?
Thank you very much! Usually I shall carefully scrape off the connection areas on both parts, or use a glue such as ultra or super glue which doesn’t rely on melting plastic👌🏻
What about the prominent gap forward of the cockpit?
Indeed a rather big gap, I thought I would leave it prettt much as it is just to show you what you’ll be working with if you decide to purchase the kit😅😉
su 27 pleas mak a su 27 :D i love this wunderfoll blue turkysch color.and the shape.
I shall try my best to find one!😉
Wow!!!!
Thank you!👌🏻
