  • My 2nd build of these big Boeings, (see • *Completed• 1/32 HK Mo... ). This one will be static as I couldn't justify the expense of another one with light sound & motion as I blew my budget on a set for the Tamiya 1/32 F-4J (build video coming soon)

    I went with the wood decals for the flooring. It really worked out well as I haven't ever been able to replicate wood grain on my own.

      Glad they worked for you. I was too scared of my ability to cut the exact shapes so they sit unopened!

      I found some extremely thin birch plywood sheets, about 1/32 inch thick that I glued right to the plastic flooring. The wood has an extremely tight grain. I stained the wood with various tan colored wood paint diluted with clear gloss acrylic so excess water does not mess up the wood. After a few coats I sanded the wood with 600 grit paper to dull it and then I waxed it which gave it the right kind of shine. It should not be too glossy.

    I tend to follow my own order of assembly as well - naturally you have to first be very familiar with the instructions sheet so as not to paint yourself into a corner - but it's the best way to get the smaller parts and sub assemblies painted and weathered properly

    • @ZeddysDad
      @ZeddysDad  3 роки тому +3

      Agreed, I can only do it because I've made it before. Also I hate cleaning the airbrush, so whenever I'm shooting a colour I try and do as much as possible in one go. I'm a very lazy modeller!

    How was fit?
    And can top of cabin be removed for showing detailed interior?

    Great series of videos! Well done Sir.
    I just bought this kit....is there anything I should watch for? Errors, bad parts etc? This is my first HK kit...never built one. Wish me luck.

      @ZeddysDad  4 місяці тому +1

      Hello and I’m glad you found the videos useful. The kit is pretty good to be fair, not Tamiya good, but the only bit I had any problems with was the ball turret. The guy at HK who designed the kit must’ve had a bad day when he contrived that assembly! I ended up leaving some of the internals out. You can’t see them in any case. Have fun!

    Absolutely no need to paint the beautiful Master Models Brass Barrels & Jackets. You simply burnish them in the Master Models Burnishing Fluid, they blacken very well and then with some embellishment like metallic powder or very mild dry brushing they look the business. *paint can thicken the appearance and chip's too easily - even if you use a metal primer or prep like Mr Hobby, why all the work? Burnish them and the result is marvellous, time & user friendly and too easy. Kindest regards from Tuckombil via Alstonville and East Ballina 800km north of Sydney. MATE!

      Wow thank you I could have done with knowing this a year ago! I’ll use this next time for sure though. I did actually try some rifle blueing which I’d heard suggested before and it blackened them beautifully too, right until I had to put the barrels through the Perspex holes and then it all came right off!!

      @@ZeddysDad Oh well, better late than never! *You maybe extra tempted go an entirely different version - the E/F is a beautiful offering - way more detail than the G version - I know that Chin-turret looks amazing, but you have to appreciate the lines of the E/F! I've never been tempted to do the G!!! - As mentioned, I've done both E & F versions, a couple of HK B25's, plus the Hobby Boss B24D (all 1/32) - all sport the beautifully finished, detailed and very permanent Master Models additions! The armour lobby think they have the game all stitched up with burnishing offerings, however it's a minefield and most cater to white metal. When I purchased my 1st set of Master Models barrels, I was wise to dulling or blackening brass from an engineer brother, went in for a look at burnishing/blackening products and bingo, there was the purpose made Master Models solution manufactured in cooperation with Uschi van der Rosten. *About 30-40ml for $9.00 AUD. If you don't go on with another big 1/32 Bomber, you could try another set of barrels and some new clear parts. Plenty of both around and it's a bit of a task to remove and replace clear parts of anything, though those clear parts with firing apertures are easily removed with some 'extra thin' - it's even easier if you have replacement clear parts (also any repainting or necessary touch ups can add nicely to weathering/flightline/field maintenance or repair & replacement appearance) *Good little execise to expand your skill set horizons! Aside from that, I hope someone else intending to do this type of build can glean something that's too easy and brings true meaning to 'reality in scale' - We send respect and warm regards from Tuckombil via Alstonville and East Ballina 800km north of Sydney. MATE 😉🤙

      @@ZeddysDad *With the HKM B17E/F og, there are only the cheek guns and the option of a single or double set up through the perspex nose if doing an F. If you go the E, that's 1× .50 cal and a .30 cal through the nose arpeture. *The o.g kit offered the E/F version clear parts - that's 3 different nose versions - 2×F & the E - I think the latest reboxed offering is an F only, but the clear sprue would very possibly be the same as the E/F (og) version 😎
