Wonderful Craftsmanship! When it comes to radial engines - to the delight of all modelers - there is NO real upper limit to engine weathering: Because of the oil, soot, and dust that these machines were exposed to without ever getting a bath, oily gunk eventually disseminated from ALL nooks and crannies, and distinct streak patterns would almost completely disappear!
This model is incredible, simply incredible. I've met several men from each the 91st and 447th bomb groups at reunions, and know several modelers who dedicate time to those men. I will be sure to share your link, because I sure can't do this level of work with a model. The level of detail is mind-boggling. Incredible!
Incredible job. First thing that jumps out at me are the seats--great upgrade, along with the front turret covers, guns, and instrument panel. Glad you left the bomb bay doors open to shop the detail there. Very entertaining to watch an artist at work. Great series. Thanks for sharing!

One thought I had whilst watching your clip, how about you refilm the two but explain to the viewers how you went about the finish of your outstanding examples? I reckon there'd be enough who'd appreciate you sharing some of your talent especially to the younger modellers who lack the knowledge and sometimes also patience.
Great job. It most I seen have a heck of slot more chipping and weathering, if you would hv done a lot more wear & tear on the old bird that would have gotten a 100% thumbs up from me, my dads brother was a 17 pilot and didn’t make it back, went down in a ball of flames, flack went directly into Bombay section popped and set the bird into 5-6 parts. He managed to get or help 4-5 brothers out but he stayed with the bird to help steer the front half away from a 4 square mile of residential neighborhoods on outskirts of Berlin, befits he burn up prob they said it was a total ball of fire before it hit the ground. 6 of the crew lived though POW’s. Said they all owed him their lives. No parachutes left that were not on fire, they said. What a man and what balls for a 28 year old to have. Man, sometimes I swear he lives they me, the B-17 was my first 3 models I ever put together and memorized all the parts and everything on the plane at age 9. Always been Fascinated with WW2 planes
Great kits,with however some poor instructions that are often vague.Also on a personal note,i wouldnt go too mad on buying interior detailing sets.Once the fuselage is put together you can hardly see much.
This is a beautiful model. I am planning on buying the HK kit like this and building a reproduction of a 452nd BG B-17 from the 728th Bombardment Squadron. This video series answers so many questions and gives me a lot of inspiration for my first attempt. I apologize if I missed you saying it, but with the air brush, are you thinning the paint at all for when you're doing coats, or does the brush kind just spread the paint out thin and evenly? Thanks!
If doing a 447th plane,i found out the two green bands were as follows..the green were 5 feet wide-equates to about 18mm,with a 2 foot wide gap,or about 10mm.Tamiya do masking tapes to these widths,and work it out accordingly.On this model,they are set too far back.In fact the door is the dividing mark between the green bands.Look at any contemporary photos.

So far as I’m aware the exterior greens were all olive drab on the Forts. They can look very different in photos depending on light, weathering etc though
With all due respect to the build. The Olive Drab came in different batches from different manufacturers. There are quite brownish to very green variations. From the E to F to early G models, there is huge contrast and variation. Keep in mind also that Boeing *BO, Douglas *DL & Lockheed Vega *VE (always present on the data stencil below the pilot side cockpit window following the serial number, ie B17F 124485 *BO) manufactured the G Model, so there alone you have a huge variety of batches. Olive Drab is simply black & yellow blended to a mixed ratio of each, being mindful of the wartime pressure on supply. Add to that the pure number of variations of the FS/ANA Designation type which number greatly, then the different weathering variations of theatre, time in service, wear and tear/damage, light & time of day for photo reference, relative to all of the above and mate, it's wide open for interpretation. *I've done the 1/32 HKM 'E' & 'F' versions (also done the Hobby Boss 1/32 B24D, though it's ANA616/FS30279 Desert Sand - Ploesti Raid). *AKRC do some great versions of O.D, as do GSI Creos 'Mr Colour' - both brands are lacquer, so you get good variation, way less time consuming to lighten/darken or hone to taste than the reliable, trusty old Tamiya offerings (that's just my take personally). *Bear in mind the all permeating 'aroma' of lacquers. Hope this helps and doesn't offend this build platform. It's a great build and your question is more than thought provoking. Sincere and kindly considered regards and go well, from Tuckombil via Alstonville and East Ballina 800km north of Sydney. MATE 🤪🤙

Hello thank you for the kind words, yes it’s a Grafo T3, I think I was using a 0.4 needle for this large beast. I think the Grafo may be discontinued now though
On some of my bombs I'd paint on them little sayings like guys did back then like" postage payed" "from me to you" "you dropped something so I'm returning it" funny things like that.

Official Comment: this build is amazing I can tell how much work and effort was put in to this build. I am also currently building a b 17 right now it’s the B17G revell 1:48 scale model kit. It’s a pretty big plane not as big as yours but still big. I am not used to 1:48 scale I was curious if you had any tips? I usually do 1:32 scale.

From all I have seen so far, I am quite keen to hear your explanation and description of your build, so please resolve this. At round 10:45, your video shows inside your flight deck several yellow cylinders mounted upon an interior sidewall. Another modeller on his channel criticised Hong Kong Models for the poor D-shaped half round bulges on his port-side interior wall part. Had you scratch-built yours (if so, you are seriously good!), or is that some sort of aftermarket discovery? I am looking for the rest of your playlist. I take quite a measure of delight in watching these since I cannot afford the kits (much as I would aspire to several of each for various builds; e.g., two of the Hong Kong Models Boeing B-17E/F Flying Fortress USAAF Heavy Bomber 1:32nd-scale kits, to build an -E and an -F; and of course two B-17Gs, the second with the Cheyenne tail gun arrangement,in natural metal), and all the accoutrements to build, detail, accurise, paint, etc., them. Already is yours a genuine treat!
Hello. Glad you’re enjoying it. There’s no sound for the parts where I sped up the pre-shading and main body painting. The yellow canisters are oxygen tanks and are supplied with the kit.

On A bit o lace,the right aileron should be silver,the left and tail was hit by flak.
I agree- but the right (from the cockpit) aileron is silver?
It wouldn't have taken much longer or cost much more to restore a real B-17 😁
