As someone who's only experience with actual tabletop 40K is this channel, it feels like detachments like Crusher Stampede, that is so dependent on getting the first turn and getting close before they lose models before they can even literally do anything (thereby losing those points, especially considering ammunition count isn't a thing, so it isn't like the other team is using up a limited resource in exchange for eliminating those models before they can have any impact on the table), should have some kind of rule or ability that gives them a higher chance of winning initiative and going first.
Basically the only way you can do anything turn 1 as crusher stampede is making sure to take 2-3 exocrines. At least with that you can kill 1-2 infantry units
the only reason nids lose and lose and lose is that while lascannons went from s9 to s12 (keeping them at 3+ against light tanks and 4+ against heavy tanks) the venom cannon stayed at s9 making it impossible for them to keep up the only ranged weapons they have that can match it now are the focused witchfire which is mounted on a slow and fragile frame or the rupture cannon which is mounted on a very expensive frame and incredibly unreliable The same thing happened to many of their weapons but the lascannon vs the venom cannon is the clearest most direct example (the bright lance, the eldar equivalent for example went up like the lascannon) In return, nids got their melee antitank way stronger so they could take tanks out in melee, however their toughness didn't go up to match the other factions so they can't actually reach into engagement (for example in 9th a t7 redemptor dread got upgraded to t10, but a t7 carnifex went up only to t9) In general the whole nid index and codex seems written by someone who chose to follow the 10th edition mantra of things being tougher while not getting stronger but every other index was written by people who just made everything stronger and also tougher
Tyranids over the last few editions have been balanced around having bad saves but high damage and AP. Now their saves are still bad but so is their damage and AP.
Tyranids do seem under-powered for a launch faction this early in the edition. I've only ever seen them win with swarming Objective control and lucky secondaries.
@@hellcyte5259our antitank units are sadly pretty hard to get ahold of right now. Haruspex is pretty good at it, but good luck finding one. They are right though, pretty much every nid unit needs a Strength boost, a point drop, some (screamer killer) need invulnerable saves or FNP, and most pre-codex changes need to be reversed in general.
Some times I see plays that just make me confused. Why would mumen not zero that SIX damage melta on his main anti tank gun when he was the oath target. That single decision lost an insane amount of potential going onto turn 2-3
Not sure you saw HOW many guns were aimed at that poor Tyrannofex. My thought process was to keep it as a pocket to try and keep it alive on it's last legs. that ALSO gives it maximum bonus from Crusher Stampede rules. Tak knew what kind of a threat it was. That fex wasn't going to survive that turn 2 no matter what.
I noticed Tyranids are kind of getting their asses beaten in this edition, especially against Space Marines. In a lot of the videos I've seen Space Marines are able to just shit can Nids like there is no tomorrow xD.
If Tyranids cannot have more gaunts than Space Marines' bolter rounds, they are likely to lose. And R.I.P. brave Techmarine, let the Omnisaiach save your soul in His eternal cloud!
Don't get me wrong I'm VERY much looking forward too this match since I love tyranids and the new units are cool as heck...but I feel the large units only sort of strategy just does not work well for an army who's core strategy is pretty much drown them in numbers lol, regardless I'm looking forward to this one!
Well, that makes Tyranids - the headlining opponent for this edition - 0 for 4 on this channel. I'm pretty sure long time Tyranid players are used to seeing that kind of record by now. Yup. "Big, bad" 'Nids.
I’m currently getting into 40K and I love watching these videos! It was cool to see all the big guys go head to head and learn a bit more of how each side should be played. However I will say personally with watching these I’ve noticed marines are almost too good. While the nids could have technically won with speed and charge ability I think the marines kind of got upped too well on this new edition and basically made it almost a target practice game.
For their mechanized detachment, yeah it's stupid good. The Crusher Stampede is also not very good at all, so when the enemy is playing anti monster units against a monster detachment that sucks, well, you saw what happened..
I don’t play tyranids, (dirty Eldar main) but The big monster style tyranids is way cooler imo than the swarm style and makes me want pick up some bigger nids and give it a try.

@@matysepron1520 I think at the end of the day Tyranids need a more versatile list and need some shooting and melee with decent scoring options

Don't. You'll probably regret it. Bahahahaha
@@jtmcdowell2331 But it'll be fun getting there!
The sound effects at the start of turn 3 made me laugh soo hard. Priceless!
Love the support for the Primaris Goofy Go-Kart.
Combat Cards! :D Thanks for promo code and as always, like goes for you before the video even starts!
Love the fact that Brick Ironjaw was in the thick of the action again!
I love combat cards I've been playing for so long
the only reason nids lose and lose and lose is that while lascannons went from s9 to s12 (keeping them at 3+ against light tanks and 4+ against heavy tanks) the venom cannon stayed at s9 making it impossible for them to keep up the only ranged weapons they have that can match it now are the focused witchfire which is mounted on a slow and fragile frame or the rupture cannon which is mounted on a very expensive frame and incredibly unreliable
The same thing happened to many of their weapons but the lascannon vs the venom cannon is the clearest most direct example (the bright lance, the eldar equivalent for example went up like the lascannon)
In return, nids got their melee antitank way stronger so they could take tanks out in melee, however their toughness didn't go up to match the other factions so they can't actually reach into engagement (for example in 9th a t7 redemptor dread got upgraded to t10, but a t7 carnifex went up only to t9)
In general the whole nid index and codex seems written by someone who chose to follow the 10th edition mantra of things being tougher while not getting stronger but every other index was written by people who just made everything stronger and also tougher
Can’t wait for the other Gauntlet videos!
They lack a lot in fire power to down big and strong models, they seems pretty weak at dealing with tank / tough models
Interesting army list. I like the emissary model the most! But I think that whoever gets to start turn 1 is going to win. But let’s see if I’m right.
I literally just brought an Astraeus today! Very excited to see that a battlereport by you guys got released simultaneously that also features one!
I agree. Even though he's explained his thoughts here, there's very few times canceling 6 damage isn't the play
@@MubinTalatihonesty you should’ve just won the game and saved everything smh/s
@@canadianbigmac3501omg you're so right. Why didn't I think of that! lol
I wanna see a similar thing with guard vs orks only the heavy stuff
I noticed Tyranids are kind of getting their asses beaten in this edition, especially against Space Marines. In a lot of the videos I've seen Space Marines are able to just shit can Nids like there is no tomorrow xD.
Have you seen this one? ua-cam.com/video/XbHE2E9gBpQ/v-deo.html
@@PlayOnTabletop Not yet.
Throughly enjoyed Nick’s blessing noises.
Dang crusher stampede looks terrible in 10th. Hope we get some closer tyranid games in the future.
"killing squeezy was easy peasy"
vile 😂
If Tyranids cannot have more gaunts than Space Marines' bolter rounds, they are likely to lose.
And R.I.P. brave Techmarine, let the Omnisaiach save your soul in His eternal cloud!
JT's commenting is absolutely phenomenal!
Crusher stampede exists just so nidzilla has a snowballs chance vs orks
That tank army was so cool, but with the table so packed he coudn't hardly move his army at all.
I feel like a single Falchion coulda wiped the floor with Mubin on this one
This was Pacific Rim!😂 I love you guys❤
34:27 he has such a way with words~
Swarmord ripping Guilliman apart. How appropriate. Like son, like father, eh?
Already watched this in the advanced viewing but idk imma watch it again
After bingeing these matchups, I’m starting to realize how bad of a matchup this is for the tyranids 😂 good thing I’m rooting for space marines! 💪🏽
Don't get me wrong I'm VERY much looking forward too this match since I love tyranids and the new units are cool as heck...but I feel the large units only sort of strategy just does not work well for an army who's core strategy is pretty much drown them in numbers lol, regardless I'm looking forward to this one!
The result of the game pretty much confirms this as well.
@@cyberjonesy Yeah the general consensus seems to be the Crusher Stampede is one of the weaker detachment picks.
@@luketfer More like some of the nids monsters are obviously overcosted for what they do.
Do I want to watch this again? Uh… I guess so!
That game was awesome!!
We shall hug you and squeeze you and never let you go...num num...where you go?
Warhammer 40k Pacific Rim edition, love it 🤘
first 5 mins into the video and i already knew the outcome
What a massacre. I don't know if I have seen Tyranid win yet. I just started collecting them. Going to be an uphill battle for the bugs.
I have a fun time running a list focused on big monsters but with genestealers/zoanthropes thrown in too
It would be cool to see some homebrew factions battle
Nids not being able to wound was brutal.
Those nids are incredibly well painted. So real
