Your painting, converting work and enthusiasm is wildly inspiring. Any time I want to get that spark back to get a project going, all I really need to do is watch one of your videos.
He talking about the one that come in the Spaces Marine Hero Serie 2 set. Yes, Terminator ancient comes in the blood angel Terminator box in GW webstore, but he referring to the one that was only available in a paint set that was only release in Japan. It have been many years, the other Terminators in the series was release as part of a board game, expect that Terminator ancient.
Absolutely agree! I kitbashed my Cadian command squad's banner bearer to be holding it out mid charge, as opposed to over the shoulder while at idle. Sure, it now sticks way over the base and is a tad front heavy, but it looks so good! (imo)
I mean it’s a sword, doesn’t look *too* out of place for a Templar model. I was planning on doing the same thing with my own Templars using DAngel base kits.
The washing machine is still unusable. Someone didn't load it correctly, and the mechanicus thought the rhythmic banging was the machine spirit, trying to play music. The wash cycle has been running for as long as I can remember.
Every time you show the nailed skulls and share the concept behind them, I fall in love with it a little more. But it's particularly interesting for an ancient termie. Something about it just feels so epic and really true to the amount of veneration Spehss Murns show to their battle brothers.
I made one years ago. About 1½ years after the 2nd version of the plastic Terminators were released. Used the Assault Terminator kit and the banner from the Command Squad. Made a Terminator Command Squad.
I recently kitbashed a regular Ancient just because I got a bit lot that included a flag, but he makes a nice centerpiece for my infantry. I've also been kitbashing scouts by using tactical marines and putting green stuff on their biceps and thighs to simulate cloth, and while I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out I'm definitely not good enough with green stuff yet to make a whole banner or even a cape with it.
There shouldn't be anything stopping them from releasing the one they use the picture of, it would already have a mould on its own sprue, and the kill team starter box makes it clear they're not apposed to repurposing heroes minis. Maybe they just need a reminder to actually release it.
@@o7_AP Dude the box was japanese exclusive, while GW is greedy they're not "let's make them preorder a box in a whole different country MWAHAHAHAHA" greedy.
A jar of skull fragments for a previous standard bearer who came to an unfortunate end, or kintsugi skull, love the story in the models you make. Thank you
The way you understand the WH40k universe is second to none. Your level is excellent and the way you share it is so helpul with an outstanding good spirit. Thank you so much.
Minor correction. The current iteration of Terminator armor isn’t the relic. That version didn’t exist during the heresy. The crux terminatus on the armor is the relic that makes the current armor “special” or irreplaceable as it is said to contain a small part of the emperors armor (as I am sure you know). Much like astartes gene seed being irreplaceable once lost, the same is said for the resilience of the terminator armor without the crux.
I am doing lamenters and I’ve noticed you’ve done a bunch of checkered patterns in red and yellow and was wondering if you have any tips for painting checkers.
Another suggestion from a different creator is to draw out the checkers using water color paint (something cheap from a dollar store or Walmart etc) until you have an outline you are happy with. You can easily wipe away the paint if you mess up.
Terminators are what i think about when it comes to space marines. As a kid, not having a lot of money i remember doing every possible think i could to earn a litte money to save up for buying terminators. Back then they were metal figures, probably the most expensive unit. To this day, they are still the models i spend the most time converting and painting. I have lost count of how many Wolfguard terminators i own.
I turned the Deathwing Knight free mini into a Terminator Ancient for my Salamanders army. I made things easy for me though. I chose the Thunderhammer and Shield. For the hammer I used a pit from a Grey Knights kit, and I just used the shield that came with the Deathwing Knight itself. For the banner I made a cross from some Drukhari spears that would be on their boats, and stuck some shield bits meant for the chests of Space Marine captains on the end points. The banner itself I sculpted from Green Stuff.
hell yeah, love me some termies Speaking of which, I'd like to see you tackle a box of HH-era Terminators...maybe kitbash them into Assault Terminators?
If you're looking for new Terminators, might I recommend Tortuga Bay's Saturn Heavy Squad and Tortuga Panzer Squad? They're based on the 1st edition Terminators, so they're suitably _ancient,_ and are a little bit less expensive than the official GW Terminators. The Saturns, in lore, are prototypes designed by Vulcan, so you could say that your Black Templars _"found"_ some ancient Salamander relics, and decided to take them on some crusades before returning them to their cousins! There aren't a lot of videos painting the Tortuga Bay Terminators, so I'd love to see them painted up as Black Templars!
Space marine terminator ancients were buildable from the deathwing command squad, but that's also discontinued, though I suspect the banners are easy to find. The ironclad dreadnought banner is also about the same size
Jay, I've seen a lot over the years. But here hear my man. This has to be one of your best custom jobs IMO. Maybe not painting but, this guy is good. *Chefs kiss.
A fellow Terminator Ancient user! Loved the conversion! Working on my own atm for Dark Angels. The Unforgiven Task force has an Ancient only enhancement that gives the squad 6+ FNP.
For what it's worth the terminator ancient was in the 9th edition codex too. Basically when the Dark Angels and Blood Angels codexes got converted to supplements, those 2 chapters' terminator banner guy datasheets got put in the regular marine codex, but GW picked the SM Heroes model for the datasheet because it is generic enough to work for ultramarines (as everything in the codex was painted up a ultramarines. In 10th though they seem to be not as fussed about generic marine units having an ultramarine colour scheme, so we have units like the jump pack captain represented by a death company chaplain model on the datasheet.
Jay my man, you out did yourself this time! This model is F’en sick!!!! Probably one of the coolest custom models I’ve seen in a while! Keep it up brother!
looks really cool! 1 slight correction tho, the shroud you used it technically the aurelian shroud, Tbones are just small bits of bones according to the flavour text. Like the skull in the hand or the handbones found in the BT upgrade sprue
Making a deathwing ancient in terminator armour is on my to-do list for this weekend. I ordered the leviathan captain off ebay for this last weekend. I have some left over bits from the deathwing knights, the dark angles upgrade spru and some 3D printed bits.
An ancient in terminator armor also comes in the deathwing command squad which sadly got axed not too long ago but I think they still sell them and they’re easy to come by most places on line (they’re not primaris sculpts but they are still pretty cool)
Years ago I bought a box of the terminator Space Marine Heroes, I didn't get the standard bearer. I don't think you were guaranteed to get them all until the Plague Marine launch. Yours looks good, great job!
I was able to buy one from a supplier here in Australia. it was not generally available here, but I do know a few people were buying the kits direct from Japan.
