A lovely and quite elegant way of demonstrating this. A couple of things to add: a.) Turn on "Always Record History", and you can update the Flow Along Surface dynamically. So you can move the base surface and the objects will move on the target surface. This can speed up the trial and error process. b.) Controlling the UV and Normal orientations of the surface are good for Flow Along Surface, but ultimately not 100% necessary. If you find the seam and use the same respective matching corners on the base surface and reference surface, they should orientate correctly. Failing that, you can try the next corner down and it will flip.
Great vid as usual PJ. So how can you invert the flow? What I mean is, I am doing simple rectangle back on to cylinder but I want the flowed geometries to face inward?
Thank you. If you put an x or a mark on a corner of the seam of the original srf before flowing, will it be visible on the uv srf? That would help me identify the orientation when doing the flow.
Hi PJ, thank you for the great video, I just have a problem where my pattern seems to scale up after I have done the flow along surface command and it doesn't match the original surface. I create the UV curves from an untrimmed surface, would you be able to help?
Exellent tip about allocating different colours to the inside and outside surfaces! I can't tell you how many times I had that comment failed.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for doing videos on the basics, your videos are by far the most helpful.
Glad you like them!
Thanks PJ!!!
Very helpful tip to color the inside and outside with different colors.
Glad it was helpful!

great tips. thanks for sharing
Your tutorials are great and excellent, I have learned a lot.
Thank you very much, cordial greetings from Mexico.
Hello from USA!! Glad you like my videos

Glad you like it!
Brilliant. Very clear. Thanks PJ!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent tip!! Thank you PJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You bet!
Wow! Thanks for making this amazing video. Plz explain how to use array along surface
noted and your welcome
Thank you very much PJ!!
My pleasure!
It worked!!! Thanks so much!
You're welcome!
Thanks for the teachings, you're great..
There is any solution for don't deform the arrayed objects?
Thank you so much
make sure rigid=Yes in the options

you can flow with the curve of X or text if that help.
Thank you very very happy
You are most welcome
Good tip, Thanks PJ!!
You bet!
really well explained, thank you
You are welcome!
Thanks a lot mam
Most welcome 😊
Thanks for another great video
Thanks for watching!
Thanks

Good day. How about if u click on a right corner but spirals projecting inside the target surface?
yes you can click on opposite corners.
Hi PJ, thank you for the great video, I just have a problem where my pattern seems to scale up after I have done the flow along surface command and it doesn't match the original surface. I create the UV curves from an untrimmed surface, would you be able to help?
what about create uv curve from trimmed surface. also check on this video ua-cam.com/video/uKh9rYLVZZQ/v-deo.html
Thanks alot teacher :)
You are welcome!
great video
Glad you enjoyed it
For projecting like so should we use “surface from planar curve” command only or we can use smthng different also?
which part is that in the video you refer to?

Why the spirals get deformed once they are on the target surface ?
you can click on Rigid option to keep them not deformed.
Lovely
super
Can we fix the tapering on top and bottom by somthing
not really. it is from your original shape that contract into a point on the top and bottom
nice master, master..
Super
Mam if I flow any curves (circles) on surface it it doesn't look like circle after flowing y?
The shape will stretch base on the surface curvature.
@@PJChenJewelryDesign then how to flow
Nice!
Thanks!
👏
Thanks
Fantastik!!!
thank you
