Which meats do you think hold up the best when canned?
We've had Keystone ground beef and canned turkey well past the use by date. It still tastes good. I've ordered a case of turkey because of it's long shelf life.
I use canned pork, beef, chicken, tuna, Vienna sausage, etc. They are all handy to have on hand when I want to make a meal quickly. Canned beef and pork make wonderful tamale filling.
Canned corned beef and Spam are my go to canned foods, that I think hold up best. Both are very versatile and can be incorporated into a lot of recipes. Cut up cubed Spam and green onions served in a bowl of Chicken Ramen noodle soup is quite delicious! 😋❤️ And canned corned beef can be used as a cooked filling for spaghetti sauce, tacos, burritos, or mixed with a little bit of pepper, mayonnaise, and pickle relish and served between toasted rye bread with a slice of American or Swiss cheese. 😋❤️
I'm not really able to handle Spam straight from the can, but fried up it's great. I used to eat vienna sausage as a kid to the point my parents stopped buying it because I was eating it before anyone else could.
Never thought about putting them in tamales! Bravo!
In my home country of the Phillipines, we're really big on canned corned beef.My absolute favorite way of having it is skillet-fried and sauteed with some chopped onions and minced garlic and served over some steamed, buttered white rice. This is my idea of delicious comfort food, Filipino style! 😋❤️🇵🇭🇵🇭
We do the same in the Caribbean. It’s popular with grits for breakfast too
Sounds delicious. I will try.
I have never in 46 years of life and lived in three different states and have never seen canned elk or haggis. I have never cooked Vienna Sausages I just open the can and eat them. That's why I buy them; they're easy.
The last that I knew haggis was banned in the US.
I eat Vienna sausages out of the can too….
You can find canned haggis in some of the Scottish or Celtic festivals. They are usually sold by vendors food or clothes. You have to ask. The ones I've seen are Grant's. They were giving out samples and it was delicious! The raw material needing to make haggis were banned but if you can hit up with a sheep farmer and butcher it yourself, you can make your own haggis.
They're 1000x better fried, you're crazy.
I like them cooked in Cookies BBQ or in Uncle Bob's everything sauce.
I live about seven miles from the plant that makes Armour Vienna sausages and stews, chilis, potted meats, and MRIs. They consider it the Vienna Sausage Capital of the World. 😆
How about Deviled Ham?
As a single man, who is prone to laziness, I eat a lot of canned meats.
Your laziness is exactly why you're a "single" mother!
When I was single one of my favorite meals was a hot dog omelet with cheddar cheese.
SO good. But you have to brown the hotdogs first.
I've never met anyone else who like them.
More for me!!!
@@glenstribling6123 It's not something I've really made for myself, but I'd certainly eat that.
Me too
It's not laziness. It's efficiency.
I miss the Red Byrd can sausages when I was a young boy. I think they stopped making them 30+ years ago, but they were the best. Shalom
The Maple Spam is really good. And im not usually a Spam person.
ALL, and I mean ALL canned corned beef comes from the same place in Brazil, so grab the cheapest you can . (no pun intended). It's great with fried eggs or leftover potato's. I always keep a few cans in the cupboard and it's nowhere near as salty as spam. People actually like it when I use it.
Hopefully everyone is stocking up on all of these, preparing for what's coming.
Why would I stok up with that. There are better choices of canned food.
@@modestacattaruzza7400
All kinds of canned food, including canned meats.
@@modestacattaruzza7400 are you a vegetarian? To a lot of people I know, meat is not just once in a while necessity. I grew up on a farm, if there was no meat on the table, it was really hard times. Heather store bought or wild game and fish was the main dish. I do remember back in the 50's we had to do cornmeal mush because money was in very short supply.
I swear this on my life...
This happened a few days ago, thats why im here...
..i had a dream where all of a sudden, i was presented with the importance of these huge numerals of 333
I then had the feeling to look to my right to find out its significance, only to be met with a massive
flash/shock that woke me up...(it was to get me up)..after a leak/drink i realised that i had to write the number down to remember the dream in the morning cause i usually forget ..But i knew 100% that it ment something very important, and ill come across it very soon i thought... 2 days later im scrolling on this platform and there it is...
333...after a big smile from me i read the rest of the title of the b grade movie...
333 days...
total/utter confirmation for me...please check it out...
..BTW, stuff like this has happened before in my dreams...stay safe..👊
Jokes on you because of whatever you are hopeful of “what’s to come” never will.
Canned ham makes the best Ham Salad (not the one in the video) where you chop it up, mix in minced onion, celery and a good dollop of mayo (we use Japanese QP) and a smidge of dijon mustard. Trust me on this one...
I get a nostalgic craving for ham salad every 5 or 10 years - we had a social hour at church every Sunday and ham salad sandwiches were a highlight to my childhood tastebuds. Our church ladies made it with a little pickle relish instead of onions. So good!
@@twochickens3954 I love the pickle relish (especially the sour kind) version as well - it depended on who was making it as to which version you would get...with the crusts cut off and sliced on the diagonal if someone was in a truly wild mood... I just got a couple of cans and guess what I'm about to whip up...
@@MelvisVelour Ha! The church ladies always made them crustless triangle style!!
I live in a Canyon and have to rely on canned meat often, roast beef and canned pork are the best but expensive, pork is not in stores very often but you can find it online.
Yeah… Pork pate is basically liverwurst. Or braunschweiger if you want to be German about it. I couldn’t stand it as a kid, but somehow as an adult it’s not so terrible. Interesting how that works. The only canned meat on the list that I have in my cupboard are chicken and spam. Musubi is a great breakfast.
Keystone at my Walmart Super Center is $25 per can, no way is it worth that
Kat Callaghan's natural voice here is lovely, much better than when Tik Tok generated is my opinion lol. Nice vid too.
Sardines
They used to have whole canned chickens in a can the size of a tomato juice can. Haven't seen them for a while though.
Armor Vienna sausages are good fishing food. The BBQ ones aren't bad but the bourbon BBQ is much better
My favorite is Mackerel.
Happy New Year to everyone at Mashed.
Canned meat gives me extreme flatulence
Sounds personal
If you have a crockpot or an instant pot cut the meat off the rotisserie chicken throw the bird in the pot with an onion celery and carrots. Add salt and pepper a bay leaf Parsley Dill and you will have delicious broth and plenty of meat to make soup, pot pie or chicken al a king
I get the impression that keystone meats sponsored this video.
I'm surprised foil packed tuna & salmon weren't considered here. And sardines, oysters, canned mackerel...?
Most people call that canned fish. Yes it's still meat but you say meat most people think pork beef chicken and game.
Sardines are especially great canned meat to have on hand, even if you're shy about canned tuna or other "fishy" smells
Turkey spam tastes more like regular Spam than turkey, I suppose because of the spices.
Omgoodness, Spam is just the best, and I didn't know about ALL those extra flavors, wow.
A question: Canned meats are very expensive now.😡
Please, please, any tips, knowledge, reference, WHERE TO BUY ECONOMICAL/ BUDGET single or bulk, canned meats.? I mean wasn't that one of it's original benefits?
Ummmm... meatballs are available in big frozen bags they're way better & some of these things look pretty gross like pet food
I thought it was weird that the only canned meatballs they showed were in chef boyardee spaghetti 🤨

2:50 SPAM: Something Posing As Meat, not to mention what shows up in your email.🤣🤣
Never seen canned ground beef?
I ordered a Ruben sandwich in PA. They used the Caned corn beef. It was the worst Ruben I had ever had
Where in PA? I was born and raised in Montgomery county and Reubens are NEVER made with canned corned beef. Not even at diners or dives. Everyone uses deli Corned Beef. Only thing canned corned beef is used for is Corned Beef Hash, and that's just because they grill the hash into a crispy patty.
Canned fish isn’t mentioned!
You just gotta try a Hawaiian Pizza with SPAM!
I like canned meats, but they're high in sodium.
Some are possible to rinse with water
They smell, but it's no big deal, I become immune to the smell after I take a bite. It's more of a problem for those I eat my canned meats near😆
Just drink more water and pee it out
I bought that one time and it was so bad I didn't eat it. The dog wouldn't eat it either.
I can’t even find canned ham in my Safeway any longer
If you saw this stuff being canned or processed I doubt if you would eat it who are you might until you find an eyelid
I feel spammed by this Google notification about spam lmao
Good little piggie that would do
Ick!

I have never hear the word HAM said so many times in succession.
Haggis has been illegal in the US since 1971.
It's being reconsidered only without the lung meat. So it would be faux haggis. Lungs are considered dangerous to eat in the US. They get stomach acid and such in the killing process.
The canned ground beef comes with a lot of fat that has to be poured off.
The fat is where the flavor is.
Why pour it off? Or as is said in the south, "don't".
The pesky pescatarian here: I can't find turkey spam anywhere. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
amazon
My suggestion is to not eat SPAM at all.
Turkey doesn't live in the sea.
Ask your grocer. Since they are stocking regular Spam anyway they might get some.
Pescatarian means the only meat you eat is fish. Turkey ain't fish
All full of sodium.
Yes, but these kinds of foods serve their purpose for camping trips or power outages/natural disasters.
Yeap, a an appetite killer!! All sound and look disgusting!
If it wasn't for ground beef and sloppy Joe sauce, some guys would starve ,,,
They are all very high in sodium. I personally don't buy that stuff. No one wants it
We stay away. If I want any of those I prefer the dali counter.
I cannot imagine the contents of these canned meats of salt, preservatives and other chemicals as being rather restrictive in their safe use.
you should look at the ingredients on keystone canned meats, their beef is particularly good
Obviously depends on the brand but in a lot of cases what preserves the meat isn't what's in it but rather the canning process, which is why it was the norm for such a long time. Sodium nitrate can be found in some products like SPAM which isn't great but if you're already fine with bacon or hot dogs it's nothing new, but with a lot of products the canning process sterilizes the contents which is what makes them so shelf stable for long periods
Correct
All that canned stuff cuase high blood pressure
The canning process is the preservative. Look up how these things are done before talking nonsense
what about all the additives in that canned crap🤣
"Spam is a pork and ham blend... "
Ummm... ham *is* pork.
No joke además por supuesto
@@Papa-o33963 I was quoting the video.
Ham is pork but not all pork is ham. Ex: Pork chops and bacon are not the same as ham.
@@tashawnnabutler6244 Very true and good point. I guess it just depends on how you look at it.
Is it just me, or does canned chicken taste just like canned tuna?
I would need to be starving in apost apocalypse setting to eat that ….but might happen ?
Sounds personal
Ugghhh, to all.

Sorry, vienna sauge reminds me of baby food.
Is this a satire??? It should be. Have you ever read the cans??
No thanks
Vienna Sausage is nasty!!
That Keystone Beef is absolutely DISGUSTING even my DOG wouldn’t eat it!!!😂😂😂
I feel that you're just naming off any canned meats for this crap video.
Sounds personal
How many thumbs down did utube hide for this junk?
To me these are unhealthy junk food. No thanks
I don't think chef boyardee is actually meat. If you're endorsing that, your channel just lost all credibility.
Most of these have insane amounts of sodium and all those preservatives aren't great for you, either.
All SODIUM 💣's . Definitely, it will head str8to your arteries and more. Eat in moderation😮
