- Will that can of meat on your shelf dazzle your dinner guests or send them straight to the toilet? From chicken to cheeseburgers, just because you can can pretty much anything, doesn’t mean you should.

Have you had better or worse experiences with any of these meats?
I love fried spam with pineapple. I don't eat a lot of it or often, but it's a great once in a while, like SOS.
honestly, you included spam in this list, meaning I'm tempted to disregard everything else you said.
The Spam hate in this video is ridiculous.
I agree!! And an anti red meat bias!!
Love my Vienna sausages and spam for real
Ageed
Yes, there is an anti red meat bias. I like fried / microwave spam every now and then. Quality canned beef (not store brand) is pretty good for long life field meals needing beef. I like albacore tuna in water but fish doesn't go with EVERYTHING.
Agreed! Musibi is one of the greatest ever ❤
This is all her opinion !!! In an emergency situation I would eat many of these and be grateful for them. Everyday, of course not.
I grew up eating SPAM. It ain't killed me yet
Make sure you get regular colonoscopies. The preservatives often are carcinogenic.
They love it in Hawaii.
We were poor. We ate Treet
The thing is that preserved meats tend to çontain preservatives such as sodium nitrate, which can cause any poĺyps in the gut to become cancerous.
Yes. Starvation tends to cause misery and death. Weigh it out.
I agree with all the 'don't buy' except spam & Vienna sausages. Spam is one of those 'forever foods' to have stocked up in your pantry for the zombie apocalypse. Vienna sausages are just fun to have every now and then.
Used to eat Vienna Sausages when I was a kid.
Sounds about right...
Every canned item is a forever food.
The whole canned chicken should be against the law!!! 🤢🤮
Those chickens probably don't like being shoved into a can.
Ewww I saw them use them once in Chopped & they looked SOOO disgusting!
Ppl who serve this stuff to their family should get the death penalty 😱👨🏿💀💀
If it’s truly that horrid, who does use canned whole chicken? Someone does, or they’d stop making it
I’ve been eating canned corned beef and rice since childhood lol
I love the caned corn beef hash. My grandma use to slice it, dust it in flour, then fry it until the outside got crispy. She'd serve it with scrambled eggs as a supper dish, but it was also perfect for breakfast. You could also serve it with a cream or Hollandaise sauce and vegetables.
When it comes to Spam, you can reduce the sodium by taking the meat out of the tin and boiling it for a brief time, drain and use as normal, this will make it a little bit healthier.
Or buy the low sodium version.
@@Step-n-Wolf True, tho will still boil it to remove more salt.
Dinty Moore stew kept me alive in rough times .
Spam and corned beef are great, should be a buy
I know, right? This video is wrong in so many ways.
If you don't wanna be sick you shouldn't get it
06:00 SPAM is KETO. If you can't use it within a week, freeze slices in a freezer bag. Pull a couple of slices out when needed.
When the power is out for a month (ask any hurricane veteren) KETO is last thing you worry about...
On a dare, I once tried Pork Brain Pudding made with brains & intestines. Everything was placed in a blender, then cooked with butter, flower, raisins, and herbs. I lost 20 lbs because I was so grossed out that couldn't eat for 2 weeks !! (PS - Great diet formula)
LOL
tinned mackerel and sardines are surprisingly good, some of the fancier brands cost an extra dollar but there is a ton of nutrition and flavor
I still love canned corned beef despite what is said here. Sorry, but we Filipinos have a way of doctoring it up to make it delicious and worthy of good eating! Just saying.
Spam eaten seldom .... as in once a month .... won't alter your health. However, nearly daily, yes ! Let it be a rare treat !
Keystone roast beef and pork are full of good meat cooked in it’s natural juices.
It's good quality. And the "Best By" date is five years. Very durable cans.
Good stuff IF you can afford it.
Macaroni and cheese with tuna is delicious!
That's on the same page as collard greens with cranberries 😳
😂😂😂
Spam is popular in Hawaii. They have it in restaurants too.
DO BUY: Keystone canned beef, and Keystone canned pork. Very good quality, with only a little sea salt added to the ingredients.
Enjoy your heart dsease and diabetes
Thanks!
Great product
They have chicken too. And ground beef. Excellent.
I use spam for making fried rice. It's delicious. Been eating it since I was a child...age 71 😊 vienna sausage is a good snack but just not all the time 👍💖
Texas Nana 🤠
Psalm 91
You dead yet?
I love to buy canned Salmon and chicken and make salads for sandwiches
Check labels on canned tuna. The water is actually a broth.
As a prepper spam is on the list as a good product to add.
Canned salmon is wild caught. Much better than farmed. But it's sooo salty.
Love canned salmon for salmon pie. A bit of sauteed onion, salt, paprika and enough mashed potatoes to hold it together. Put in a pie crust and bake. You can ladle some Hollandaise sauce on it or use a squirt of ketchup. Whatever floats your tastebuds' boat.
I get weird looks when I make a peanut butter, grape jelly and mustard sandwich. 😁
Am from Maine we ate salmon pie frequently, so good.
I recommend Spam a classic WW2 standby food.
I have a nice stock of Corned Beef Hash for when I get a hankering for it and eggs but there's something I do before I cook it. I open the can about halfway then fold it up to use as a handle. I put the can in a deeper pan, fill it almost to the top of the can with water and put it on medium. I'm heating the contents and allowing the fat to come to the surface which I then pour off. I do this until all the fat is removed. Now it's much healthier and when SHTF you should have all sorts of canned foods. We can our own chili beans, chicken tenders and thighs etc..but we also freeze/dry many food items also..SPAM should be sliced then lightly boiled to remove as much salt and other stuff before consuming.
Bacon Spam rocks. Love the stuff more than regular spam.
Who opens a can of Spam-, and keeps leftovers in the fridge?
Some people do. There's a guy on YT that did a video, where he boiled the salt out, and then fried the SPAM, and then stored what he didn't eat, in the refrigerator. He claims, it's better than bacon.
I do. I get 3 sandwiches from a can (over 3 days...😊)
We always did that as a kid. Sandwiches, fried with eggs, you get the drift...
@@e-spy fair enough. I mostly meant that it would just be eaten up after you opened it. I’m a big dude, with a big son. If we were both eating, you’d open two cans. My wife probably could live off a can for a week. 😀
@@ericclaeyborn3600 I only meant that a can of Spam was a single serving.
Nobody eats an entire canned spam in one sitting. Good replacement of bacon in breakfast when fried. Adds protein to Mac and cheese.
I have found that anchovies do not store long term. packed in oil, they seem to dissolve into s soup. I suppose you can use them in sauces but they will stop looking like anchovies. Spam, the king of caned meats! buy it, store it, eat it, yum!
Not a SPAM fan. It just tastes like salt. I like Deviled Ham. I love kippers and sardines. Canned salmon can be hit and miss. Some brands are delicious, but others are bland. I also like that canned corned beef hash that looks like dog food. I like real corned beef hash, but I also like the weird canned kind, too. I like Vienna sausages.
I agree on all, but the sardines and kipper. Too much during lent in the 50s.
I had a weird allergic reaction more than once to canned Vienna sausages. Made my lips swell up! SPAM will never be a part of my regular diet, but my friend and I visited the SPAM Museum in Austin, Minnesota and brought some novelty flavors back home with us.
Let this info get out, and a lot of teen age girls will want to eat Vienna sausages just to get bigger, fuller lips.
Teriyaki is Wowie !!!!
Just the look and texture of those vienna sausages always looked gross to me! YUCK!
I love canned sardines on toast and I have a nice tuna salad recipe.
My boss thought we’d like self stabilized salsbury steak for us on thanksgiving. Yay.
So gross
But no!!!!!
Oh are you serious! Oh no!
What?! Is your boss Steve Martin from Little Shop of Horrors???
How thoughtful of them.😝
Vienna Sausages are a whole major food group here in Newfoundland....every time you go "in the woods for a boil-up" they are a requirement! Lol!
But they used to be made of pork, not chicken. And now they are bland.
Lol...I never liked them but nothing is as it used to be! I've heard folks here say that about them too!
Shit I was stationed in Hawaii and the Hawaiians love Spam, Spam with everything! They would eat it everyday if it wasn't so expensive!
Love salmon and cucumber sandwiches!
that sounds good! And I am not a fan of salmon!
I tried canned tamales from Dollar Tree once. I give it a -10/10
A "Why/10"
Wtf is wrong with you
I got a can from Walmart to see if I wanted to add it to my SHTF meat pantry, after 3 tries and not being able to finish a tamale each time I figured it was time to put it in the garbage disposal.
I really like Spam - many in the state of Hawaii agree with me. It's very popular there.
My grandma ate these things cuz she was toothless, but live to 85 +😊
Regarding 4:16, Vienna sausages in a can are like cut up hot dogs.
Fresh is a word I would never think of related corned beef. Canned meat doesn't need any more preservation chemicals than canned chicken. The stuff that is added is there as for taste and color.
Puritan products are very good . ❤ Dinty Moore excellent quality .
Man a lot are saying that they can't believe the spam hate and stuff but they're not saying a single thing about it being gross they're saying that it's bad to have when it comes to health
I love my Bush beans with fried Spam - end of story.
I am 57 and in excellent health and eat almost nothing except red meat
ok to summarize- is it a can of fish or turkey =yes ,is it a can of other animals = no
Lemon juice in a bottle tastes like a chemical bath, and the lime juice can ruin a cocktail.
Very good review. I guess spam is best saved for the apocalypse..
I agree with those commenters who complained about the excessive spam hate. Over the top especially after the over the top praise for Vienna sausage which has all the flavor of cardboard with less nutritional value. Also who the hell likes anchovies?
I find Walmart's great value luncheon meat is Great ,greater than Spam to me
Excellent, thank you. I love Spam but never buy and eat it.
when a Soviet Hero opened a can of Spam he would joke with his Comrades "Let's open a second Front"!
Spam strips are excellent with ramen. And it freezes well, Just put foil or wax paper firmly over the opened can (we open the can with a can opener making the cover excellent for putting back on the meat and then covering). Then we pull it out the next time we have ramen or such.
Spam remove sodium by cutting into squares n boil in water for 9 minutes then fry. In hot weather Vienna sausage is one of best foods for u drink the water then eat sausage. Water replenishes sweat n meat protein. Not good tho n hot weather.
What about kippered herring?
I love canned corned beef and despite what you say I'll never give it up.
Corned Beef is GREAT!
Not if you want to get cancer
Spam is great-but only if you mitigate the sodium issue. There are some really good videos online that show how to do this.
I buy low sodium spam
@@mariejohnson9665 That version has 'mechanically separated chicken'. The original doesn't.
Hey!, I love spam tacos, low sodium kind works...
Great Gen-x cut scenes! Great Content!
You’re right about never buying a can of spam to bring to your home. That’s why I buy it by the case.
The taste 0f canned chicken reminds me of mild tuna.
Red grass fed finished meat is HEALTHY
Only tuna sometimes cornbeef hash or sometimes salmon . My liked spam i use to like it and i still do sometime my mom liked spam
So… this video actually explains what canned food is
I thought people would already know that
Always have canned salmon in the pantry
Have you tried Creamed Possum in Coon Fat Gravy?
LOL 😆 🤣 😂
I am laughing because we have a possum and two fat raccoons eating the cat food for feral cats in the garage. My husband feeds the cats but caught the possum and raccoons in the camera.
Nice to know they would make a nice meal in case of a famine.
Lol 😆 🤣 😂 😹
Most of the stuff is processed, but don't tell me what to eat. Sardines are the best bet...
I love sardines.
You forgot Hormel Smoked Ham (5 oz. can). Mixed thoroughly with Mayo, it's delicious!
Canned samon and other fish (in oil) is how they get rid of fake olive oil.
Not one mention of Keystone meats, the Best canned meat you can buy!
There are also some pretty tasty corned beef brands, Palm, from New Zealand which I recommend buying.
I’ve bought some palm recently online. Haven’t tried it yet. I’ve got a healthy stock of Libby’s corned beef too.
I use canned salmon often.
My mother used to make salmon loaf with it. A favorite of my father's.
Sadly I didn't see crab or lobster Pate which is very tasty food!
The pork brains get a bad rap, fresh pork brains cooked with eggs and some homemade salsa is AMAZING.
As far as the canned, the rose canned with gravy if you drain them fry them a bit to get a crisp on them then add eggs and black pepper then add some new milk in while the eggs are still very runny get them to a just past soft scramble and serve over rye toast they are pretty darn good.
Tellya what - you eat what you want to eat and I'll eat what I want. Ok?
Freeze your excess spam. 10 seconds in the microwave and you can slice off a few thin slices for a breakfast muffin. Just enough for flavor.
Actually if you learn to cook you can make most great but if you just want to eat it you almost always lose taste
Thanks for pointing out that pregnant women are OK in consuming some fish
Mashed: Don't buy any meat in a can - only fish.
Except for spam
Canned corned beef is lower in fat compared to canned corned beef hash. Home made corned beef hash made with canned corned beef is much tastier and lower in fat.
Slice Spam, boil it for 15 minutes, it removes the sodium but not the flavor.
Too much salt in most canned meats and there is no good reason for it. I do use tuna and chunk chicken, just not often. Love canned salmon for patties, don't understand why you consider fresh or frozen salmon difficult to cook, it isn't and there are so many ways. Corned beef, cut into 4 slices, fry gently in butter until browned, add a can of drained green beans, cover and cook for about 5 minutes. Yum!
Anchovies rock
I ONLY buy TUNA and SARDINES in tins..thanks from 🇿🇦
Yummmm I need more tinned fish in my life.
Personal I liked Green tomato sauce and green tabsco sauce.
Nice food
I FIND YELLOW TUNA A BETTER MEATY CHOICE. Love the texture. Try it it is more expensive but very good. I like it canned in water but you see it a lot in olive oil.
Every spam dish that was made looked bomb
I'll stay away from pork brains. But I love scrapple for breakfast. It's a Philly thing. Lol!!!
lol! You do realize that scrapple is the parts of the pig no one will buy? hence the word "SCRAPple". Given that, I have eaten blood sausage, finker, and tongue. My fave of those? tongue. salt and pepper it, put it in a sandwich? yum. rich roast beef. I remember coming home from school and smelling it boiling on the stove (it used to be free from the butchers until it became a 'delicacy'). oh, the days!
@@e-spy yeah I know what scrapple is lol!!! It was a joke. Lol!!! But nothing better for breakfast than scrapple!!! 🤣😂🤣😂👍👍👍
I call bullshit on the spam hate displayed in this video. One can of spam, one can of pintos and one can of them little taters, add a stick of butter and you are living. Pick up a can of stewed maters, chill in the fridge and have with it !
Yes.But not the pork brain and surströmming yet. One time i try canned Goulash and it was awful.
I don't mind canned sardines, it's just the bones I have to get rid of.
I can't stand these (I did try!) but my dog loves them and it helped her eyesight (old, getting cataracts). She had at least another year of sight because of them...my story, and sticking to it. Have also heard they are great for your garden if you bury them.
Pregnant people ??? Are you serious ???
Canned salmon is actually much healthier for you than any kind of non canned product since
it has the bones and skin in it.
Soam is great especially good value on a budget which thanks to our Government we have to do more
