I have a nice stock of Corned Beef Hash for when I get a hankering for it and eggs but there's something I do before I cook it. I open the can about halfway then fold it up to use as a handle. I put the can in a deeper pan, fill it almost to the top of the can with water and put it on medium. I'm heating the contents and allowing the fat to come to the surface which I then pour off. I do this until all the fat is removed. Now it's much healthier and when SHTF you should have all sorts of canned foods. We can our own chili beans, chicken tenders and thighs etc..but we also freeze/dry many food items also..SPAM should be sliced then lightly boiled to remove as much salt and other stuff before consuming.

The pork brains get a bad rap, fresh pork brains cooked with eggs and some homemade salsa is AMAZING.
As far as the canned, the rose canned with gravy if you drain them fry them a bit to get a crisp on them then add eggs and black pepper then add some new milk in while the eggs are still very runny get them to a just past soft scramble and serve over rye toast they are pretty darn good.

Freeze your excess spam. 10 seconds in the microwave and you can slice off a few thin slices for a breakfast muffin. Just enough for flavor.

Canned corned beef is lower in fat compared to canned corned beef hash. Home made corned beef hash made with canned corned beef is much tastier and lower in fat.

Slice Spam, boil it for 15 minutes, it removes the sodium but not the flavor.

Too much salt in most canned meats and there is no good reason for it. I do use tuna and chunk chicken, just not often. Love canned salmon for patties, don't understand why you consider fresh or frozen salmon difficult to cook, it isn't and there are so many ways. Corned beef, cut into 4 slices, fry gently in butter until browned, add a can of drained green beans, cover and cook for about 5 minutes. Yum!

I FIND YELLOW TUNA A BETTER MEATY CHOICE. Love the texture. Try it it is more expensive but very good. I like it canned in water but you see it a lot in olive oil.

lol! You do realize that scrapple is the parts of the pig no one will buy? hence the word "SCRAPple". Given that, I have eaten blood sausage, finker, and tongue. My fave of those? tongue. salt and pepper it, put it in a sandwich? yum. rich roast beef. I remember coming home from school and smelling it boiling on the stove (it used to be free from the butchers until it became a 'delicacy'). oh, the days!

I can't stand these (I did try!) but my dog loves them and it helped her eyesight (old, getting cataracts). She had at least another year of sight because of them...my story, and sticking to it. Have also heard they are great for your garden if you bury them.

Canned salmon is actually much healthier for you than any kind of non canned product since
it has the bones and skin in it.
