I think Red played a really good game, I hope he doesn't take the comments here too harshly. Obviously at their ELO they're making mistakes. Very solid player, just gotta focus on eco and upgrades a bit more and you'll be something special. Keep it up man.
Funnily enough, I think the problem for Red was that he didn't fully commit to the all-in. Don't get me wrong, he should have had a few farms and kept producing out of one TC but if instead of selling all of his stone, he just builds one more castle with it on the left above Blue's market, Blue has nowhere to run anymore and most of his buildings and lumberjacks die.
Blue was fundamentally the more solid player. He created vils continuously, got eco upgrades, got blacksmith upgrades, created army, tried to attack, defend and counterattack, got relics eventually. Think he just was stressed out from continously being attacked. Red had good attacking instincts, but needs work with upgrades and booming.
don't know why red switched to cavalier. you already have pikemen just get halb and blue loses every fight since he is just making tarkans and monks. crossbow was actually the right choice given the only safe eco red had was wood
Great example of Eco over Army. No matter what eco blue lost, they almost immediately built it back up. Red was non stop with the push for the most part but didn't keep the eco for a big enough or sustainable army. And then there were the Tarkans.
Both players are resilient, but blue was next-lever determined to not give up. He gave ground and kept trying to stabilize far longer than I would have, GG.
I think if red didn't let blue just hang out in the back of his base and placed the second castle on the western wall near his wood production to cut off retreat that would have been GG. Also, as the game stood, he had the answer for tarkans right in the beginning! Make a new TC behind your pocket wall and make more halbs don't pivot into trash bows!
With low eco, you typically want to win fast, in which case Relics don't play a big role. Of course, if you have Monks and map control, just take Relics, but red didn't go for those.
Red's plan didn't make any sense to be fair. Going 3TCs instead of defensive workshop and a monastery made it work but panicking to that is unfortunately common at this elo hahah
even 800 elo bring dear and have a almost perfect dark age nowaday, everything betwen 0 to 30sec idle TC in dark age isnt uncomun at all at 800, even with dear pushing x) in feudal it's a different story tho x)
Pushing deer is way easier these days with the deer pathfinding improvement, especially in arena. I use the big deer mod to help to see deer position better.
The thing is bringing in deer is easy, it's just it takes a lot of focus and they actually loose other things while they do it. 2000+ is deer luring with no downsides
Both players were very solid for different reasons: - Blue was able to think things through and fight even though that double castle drop + IMP would have made so many people quit. He was resilient and tried to damage his opponent instead of simply trying to defend a dead base, as most people would. Was able to keep building eco even though with a lot of inefficiencies and idle time. - Red was in an all-in strategy that was quite successful, but the lack of eco cost them the game. They lack upgrades and did not build farms until very late. Upgrades on the crossbows would definitely help a lot and maybe blue wouldn't have the force to fight back with increased loses. Trickle trebbed for most of the time sending only 1 and sometimes 2 trebs at a time - if they massed 3-4 trebs and went for it it would have been a much more successful attack. TBF, I believe red is used to players gg'ing after being in such position and the fact that blue fought back made red a little confused and "Blue did quit?! What do I do now? Hmmm... Uhhh... Crossbows? I have wood. Yeah" Props for Blue. That was an INSANE game and a great and well-deserved victory!!!
I totally related to when T90 recognised we all get stressed playing this game, and especially ones like this. Its actually one of the things i luv about the game, that there can be so many activities you need to oversee at the same time. Crazy game, well cast and tx for sharing 🙂
Correct me if im wrong, but i think there were several times blue could have taken out that castle with the tarkens and their bonus damage and no murder holes. He would have been able to get his gold back.
@@usman_ghuman not always. at one point there were no more pikes and everytime he cleared the xbow+cav, he could've ran under and demolish the castles. even castle age tarkans have huge building dps. there were many suboptimal plays from both, but that made the game more fun 11
He got scared off by the first time with the pikes, sure later there were no pikes so he could've done it but there's so much to keep track of in a chaotic game like this I bet it's the last thing blue was thinking about.
Recently i started playing ranked with a friend (2v2RM), and damn, this 1000 ELO thing i dont like it: our first match was against dudes with like 300-400 games played against us, literally our first game. 1000 ELO will always be the starting elo in ranked?
What a game dude! Blue 1000% deserved the win He missed to mix in some light cav against the crossbows in my opinion with all that farming eco and amount of stables. But after all... WOW
I’m 1000 ELO. I’ve got ONE build order that I’m really good at, and I play it in all scenarios. It’s Hera’s 23 vill feudal fast castle. 😂 I would like to venture into other, more specific build orders; and perhaps that would help me break into 1100+
I won a similar game in arena. Britons vs. Khmer, my opponent went castle drop into monks and siege. I barely held with scouts, all my buildings were getting converted. The key really was to leave as my opponent never really scouted the outside. However, he was not really as good at red here, his eco was completely idle. It was 1 hour game and his villagers were still standing where they finished the berries. I would love to watch it again but it was like 10 patches ago...
I played 2 like this recently... YES - LEAVE YOUR MAIN BASE - even non-arena. People get mad because they destroyed your main, but you have two HUGE side-bases with 140 vils cranking while you waste time on buildings I've already rebuilt 10x over! 800 ELO.
High elo players can never have so much fun, because there is no fun if cannot get away with so many mistakes on each side and the game can still go on no matter what for the most part. But I've seen lots of games and so few people seem to have such fun. Which is all that matters, if you're not one of the few making decent money out of this game.
Red just needed to put a TC or even a few towers at the west outside of blues base and it would have stopped him from expanding west as easily. Then collected a few of the relics to lock in the win
I'm 850ish, the other day I had a game just like this. I was the blue player and managed to hold on to my base and win. Then the next arena game the same thing happened too😂
Honestly embarrassing for red. He had such an advantage this is the biggest throw I think I've ever seen. Switch up units, the crossbows were NOT working.
2:32 I'm just under 1000 elo (about 980) and I have some vague build orders but not fully practiced yet. i've practiced the standard fast castle and 20 pop archer build orders and I am trying to work on my own mongols 16-17 pop fast archers but I'm not sure its any better then the 19-20 pop archer rushes due to the hit I take to my economy going up so fast. my theory is that I will get a buffer of food while advancing to the feudal age so I can have 3 vils on food while advancing and move the remaining 12 villigers to get wood and gold to get archer production started, upon advancing to feudal age I can create new vills and send them onto food to get the 6 needed for vil production before my food buffer runs out. not sure if there is any hope for this build, I think i need to get better at luring deer so I can click up at 16 pop without any idle time.
Mid Elo Masters, 4 digit elo's are NOT low. i'd say even 8-9 hundred is pushing it for low elo legends. couldnt find the comment that suggested it first but mid elo masters would be a great name i'm about 3-4 hundred elo btw
I know its a hard game, but even 500elo know you can't just have lumber jacks oh that killed me, drop a mill back there or something, and why was he rolling his trebs right up to the only military production buildings like treb them down
Let's just assume: Red reaches imp and gets the first treb and puts it in a small U-shaped enclosure next to the castle. Blue can't snipe it with tarkins/melee units and the treb kills both TC's, the castle and the other buildings. What is blue supposed to do against that?
Red already killed everything within treb range that is under protection of his castles. He literally did the exact thing you want him to do. What is blue supposed to do against that? Escape from his base on the northwest side, reboom with his massive lead in vils, secure more gold and relics, produce some tarkans to protect his new eco spots/gold as well as raid red at home - exactly what he did and exactly how he won. What you really want to consider is what would happen if red had made a 3rd castle (or located the 1st castle differently) that boxed blue in so blue couldn't just mass migrate out of his base. With blue's 90+ vils he could still run under a castle to freedom but a lot more would die than "none of them" and if red was paying attention he may have been able to stop the new base before blue reboomed.

Bodkin would have DOUBLED the strength of the crossbows and would definitely have won the game.
Red was researching it around 19:05, and CANCELED Bodkin

Why did red stop making pikes 11
He had no food for the most of the game.
I kid you not I was listening to this part while opening the comments to see this comment 1111

Very typical for low Elo like me to stop building army when we think we have won. 😂
Go up to pikes!!!
Red's biggest mistake was that they stopped making villagers in Imp, blue was able to outboom red by just farming and selling food.
I think if red didn't let blue just hang out in the back of his base and placed the second castle on the western wall near his wood production to cut off retreat that would have been GG. Also, as the game stood, he had the answer for tarkans right in the beginning! Make a new TC behind your pocket wall and make more halbs don't pivot into trash bows!
red got that huge advantage and didn't think of getting even 1 relic in arena
With low eco, you typically want to win fast, in which case Relics don't play a big role. Of course, if you have Monks and map control, just take Relics, but red didn't go for those.
Red's plan didn't make any sense to be fair.
Going 3TCs instead of defensive workshop and a monastery made it work but panicking to that is unfortunately common at this elo hahah
Probably figured castle rushing and getting that second castle down was gonna be GG, but when it was not he was like uuuuuuuhhhhh this usually works
Respect Blue, thats one heck of a survival
