You forgot the best part: the monk upgrades weren't half as impactful as they might seem, because they don't apply to converted units 11 (not even if you convert them back)
What do you mean? eg if you convert a monk while you have redemption and your opponent did not have redemption, you can convert siege/buildings upon conversion (same thing with atonement etc)
@@mrister24 unit specific upgrades don't count. Im not sure about redemption, but stuff like fervor, faith, block printing shouldn't apply to a unit that was converted at any point previous in the game.
@@mrister24 I tracked the conversion ranges, and Block Printing (+3 range) definitely does not apply. Sanctity and Fervor (health and speed, respectively) won't as well. The others are much harder to gleam from the rec alone.
The resilience of Varvarus was admirable. Same as humble way of accepting the defeat by Red Phosphorus. I enjoyed that one, watching first AoE video in almost a year.
This was brilliant. Speeding the video was a very good call,, you always find the best ways to improve the content and look for feedback in the community, very well appreciated. Sometimes after a difficult day looking at this makes you go to bed with a smile, thank you T90.
T90, I've watched a LOT of your videos and this is hands down the most ridiculous game I've ever seen. Thank you for bringing this to us. And thank you for the x2 speed 🤣
This many monks on that field just looking at each other trying to figure out who is what and when and oh that guy is now a different colour, hey I am a different colour, who am I what? It's really the Josh Fight meme
As T90 mentioned, they barely had any good economy, so they'd have to switch vills off gold, possibly losing during the time it'd take them to switch due to the opponent overwhelming them with monks. The other major reason is that light cav attack from a different angle, so they don't compliment your monks, they basically open a new subgame. But with your opponent having so many monks, you'd need like at least (!) half as many light cav as he does monks (against Bengali you also need forging to 3-shot them due to 3/3 armor). If you don't have sufficient light cav, your opponent can just point groups of 3-5 monks at every single light cav and it'll likely not only die before it converts a monk, now your opponent had a light cav against your monks, so it's only worth it if you can kill off an entire monk army at once basically. That said, I don't see why blue spent 1000 on imp, I would've gone for a hidden tc (monks are slow, your opponent will likely not spot it) with 8 vills and made a stable to continuously trickle produce light cav until I have enough to break the stalemate. Ideally when there's just been a big battle and I'm ahead. *then the winged hussars arrived* 🎶
there was no time for light cav. You would need at least 20 light cav with upgrades to push 60 bengali monks. And in the process all 20 might get converted and hit your monks. What then?
You switch to light cav, you send 10 light cav to attack 50 monks, they kill 10 and gett themselves converted , now they attack you you lose 10 units and have to convert them back, then the you send it again to the enemy... Do you really want to play that game?!
At this point I don't even care about the speed of the game, I just can't listen to T90's normal speed voice because he sounds like a mentally slow / baked version of "himself".
Something I noticed that I think was the turning point in blue's favor: when he had monks under the castle, the ones that got converted by red got shot by the castle, but the red monks that blue converted stayed alive, so it was almost like a partial heresy situation in blue's favor. Not that this ridiculousness actually deserves any sort of analysis 😂
I'm imagining what a couple good onager shots would have done for some of those monk battles. Plus with no other offensive units, rushing in to convert them on both sides would have completely changed the dynamic of the fight.
Phospharu didn't capitalise on his big monk victory in the corner. Just milled around with his bigger monk army while the over guy took their houses and built a castle amongst the temples. 😢
T90 PLZ READ THIS. If u have ANY contacts in the Aoe dev team. Plz tell them to finally stop disbanding parties after each match! Its frustrating to have to invite friends after each game... Love u baii! ❤
I can confirm at least one person is still watching this at 2x timescale. If I could increase it to 3x or maybe 4x, I would. Nobody is dying. This is major micro and minor macro.
im 600 elo and dropping , just started the game, and if i managed to get in a game like this i think i would just quit and go back to riding my motorbike
Okay so I love your videos. I watch all of them except some community games, they can be a bit long, but I try to watch them anyway. However, I like listening to the build up and you giving us all of the possible scenarios for what could happen in the game. The problem is the title of the video or the thumbnail is always a spoiler. You may or may not read this comment but I feel like its a simple change and I'd love to see it. 🙂
Will show this to my children, random number generation, probability, hardwork, strategy, commitment as well as the final C/D ratio of 1. Perfectly balanced as it should be. Started as a clown but gg'ed as a true gentleman
When there's that many monks, even your conversion-resistant cav will get converted quickly before they do too much damage, and now your cavalry is coming back to stomp on your monks.
So many monks even this comment was converted.
T90 converted someone's comment !
Wololo

i bet its not the real t90
Finally able to watch in 4x speed!
I'm just picturing 200 monks out in the desert debating each other lol
pretty sure this actually happened historically
T90 talking about fights but they just have a discussion nobody was harmed 😂
@@floriandaum7813 More than a few of them got harmed, but they just got too close the "fire", wich is maybe they fault!? :)

Lmfao my first thought was "I hope MBL sees this game"
When the monks all come together and half of each is converted, it feels like shuffling a deck of cards
Ah yes, the South Asian church choir battle. Truly AoE 2 is the finest reality simulator of our time.

"Some nice little monk momentum."
Monkmentum, if you will.
When this was put on normal speed I fell out of my chair laughing 🤣

A very strange yet accurate depiction of Papal election process.
Including the villagers chiming in to beat up the monks?

28:23 RP was converting vills repairing the trebuchet and they were being killed by the castle. It wasn't all monks.
This doesn't even look like a monk war, it looks like a choir competition 11
Thank you for letting me witness this! and shout out to Red phosphoru for making this happen
That monk rail cannon was pretty crazy too…
This is some bacteria simmulator now.
the monk convention was a success
I stopped watching my screen for 40 seconds and out of nowhere 20 monks appeared, this is crazy
I've soiled myself, again
If you get converted, was it still you who soiled yourself, or someone else?
Never caught a video so close to drop. Been watching alot of 1 or 2 year old videos.
Wow this was so incredible , it's like
"zombies against zombies".
Converting each other.
But then with religion lol
To troll those of us who speed it up - you should cast it at half speed so that when we double it it goes at normal speed.

Blue shouldve walled phosphoru's castle foundation after clearing the first wave of vills
I need a recast of this game at normal speed with the WOLOLO conversion sound

My brain still has memories of Vietnam after playing that game. "Vululuuuuu...Vululuuu"
Great job! Did the production of so many monks strengthen your faith?
"Pure dedication and frustration" says it all
