    Damn. I like the "s" hook idea. I always let it sit around the spring and knock it off constantly! I'm using this idea!!!

    I have A 2008 dodge avenger and when doing the power brake test putting both brakes on and in drive or reverse I’m getting a clunk at my axle, and the axle is literally slightly turning in the bearing when doing that (without a flash light you would hear the clunk but couldn’t see the axle turning) Just got the axle replaced 3 days ago it’s brand new. Would I just need to change the bearing/wheel hub assembly that the axle goes in?

    I'm so confused about the tone ring situation on these. I have a 2012 I just replaced the ball joints, struts, tie rod ends. Upon reassembling I have ABS light/code on both front wheels. I couldn't find anything that looked like a tone ring inside the bearing assembly or the CV axle. worked fine before the part replacement could it have just disintegrated when I took it apart? I can't seem to find any clear information about my next step. The pictures I've found of the OEM bearing assembly don't appear to have one any (at least not the traditional jagged tooth thing I'm used to) Would greatly appreciate any guidance as I'm losing my mind!

    • @Tomsfoolery.
      @Tomsfoolery.  3 роки тому

      Some bearings house the tone ring internally. Which may be your case. Were you careful not to break the sensors when you took it apart?

      Could be possible that you got the hubs for a non-abs application.

  • @justinyoungstown

    Can the bearings be removed from the assembly? And put a new bearing in or is it welded so you cannot do so?

    Do you know if the axle nut has play at the wheel hub? I was changing my breaks and seen there was about 1/2 play in the nut, thanks either way!

    • @Tomsfoolery.
      @Tomsfoolery.  4 роки тому

      No, the axle but should not have any free play. It should be tight.

    My cars having a lot of grinding noises and whatnot. Also when i jack my car up the wheel wiggles. Does this sound like bearings?

    • @Tomsfoolery.
      @Tomsfoolery.  4 роки тому

      Yes, that sounds like a worn wheel bearing. When the tire wiggles, does it wiggle in all different directions? Like, not just side to side or top to bottom?

    • @Tomsfoolery.
      @Tomsfoolery.  4 роки тому

      You can do it yourself. If it’s a front wheel bearing, you’ll need a torque wrench to torque the axle nut.

    So what's the torque spec for the axle nut?

    • @dustintunis9347
      @dustintunis9347 10 місяців тому

      All of the torques. 😁 With a quick search I found that it's 97 lb/ft up to 2011. 2012-2014 is 118 lb/ft. I don't know why it changed, but they sound reasonable for an axle nut on a car, so I'm assuming they are right out at least close enough to work without causing any issues.
