@mcnakahr Mass dislikes get removed by UA-cam- As in if you get 50 dislikes in a minute, UA-cam will purge them. I don't know how it works, but I've seen it happen on a channel and there was a news article about a mass disliked political stream where UA-cam removed fake dislikes. Theyre removed = Not counted at all.

What i think is strange, you can dislike a video without even watching it. Why? It's like giving 1 star rating on IMDB to a movie which you didn't even watch. Or a reviewer who says: This phone is bad, without even switching it on!
UA-cam should disable the dislike button, and enable it when > 30 seconds of the video is watched.

I have had this happen to me before. Had issues with someone on twitter who was a vile person and he headed over to my youtube channel and disliked every video he came across. I wound up blocking him.

As long as you got more people who “liked” your videos it doesnt matter. Those people who disliked ur videos are giving you the views and watchtime u need 👍
@viizii Totally agree. I recently started a small gaming chanel and always thought that if you don't like it, you don't have to watch my videos. Just don't klick at it. But since a while it seems that I have a stubborn anti-fan who reliably leaves a dislike on my videos... With only a few dozen views, it causes a lot of damage. Really sad :(
I liked your video for the intro alone! I see dislikes as a right of passage. It means people are paying attention to your content. Plus, anyone who doesn’t like my stuff is not my intended audience! So who cares? If I get negative feedback from my actual subscribers, then I care.

If people dislike your videos, then it's not our problem, they just don't like it, and that's ok. They can have their own opinions, and we can have ours.
They dislike videos because it's a possibility that they're trolls.

I get 1 dislike on every video i upload. How can someone be that free to wait until i uploaded and they dislike?!
That's just so upsetting. I work so hard editing my UA-cam videos, and i get 2-1-3 dislikes for no reason.

Dislikes genuinely help me when looking up how to videos about stuff I'm not familiar. Seeing the dislikes helps me see if the advice in the video may not be helpful and I can ready comments along with the rating.

I dislike when I get blatantly clickbaited by the video's thumbnail or title.
A main reason why I use UA-cam is for learning or tutorials. I absolutely cannot do this anymore because I have no way to judge a video’s quality.
A lot of tutorials I watch are for coding, technology etc and are hours long- what am I meant to do now? Waste 20 mins on a video that doesn’t help or watch a whole video only to find what I’ve watched experts don’t agree with? It’s useless.
I just don’t understand why they removed it- they aren’t protecting anybody. If a content creator can’t cope with dislikes on their videos or can’t take any forms of criticism, then they need to grow a backbone because there will always be some people who don’t like what you do.

Idk though, If it's a good tutorial, and viewers don't want to sit through the tutorial step by step, or they didn't follow every step to a T they will smash the dislike button, something that worked in 2020 might be different now but they didn't pay attention to that key fact when they clicked on it expecting the most up to date info, that doesn't mean the tutorial doesn't work, I've had a few tutorials where this has happened,
The dislikes do make me kinda upset but it’s bc they are all from my ex best friend so I had to block her.

Yeah, that's something I never liked about UA-cam. Unlike basically every other social media platform, UA-cam doesn't give you any information about other users interaction with your channel/profile. Anything you post on FB, for example: you can see who liked it. UA-cam doesn't tell you who liked or disliked your video; only the number. And you can see everyone on your friend list on FB. But on UA-cam, you cannot see your subscribers. Again: only the number. There is a way to see who some of your most recent subscribers are, but there is no way to see a full list of who your subscribers are. And it never made sense to me. Seems strange to me actually. I mean, imagine if on Facebook you couldn't view your Friend List. You only knew the number of people on your friend list, but there was no way to see the names. And imagine if you couldn't see who liked your posts. You just got the number of likes, and nothing else. That would be weird as hell lol

Its a great point, and you can see your subscriebrs, when you look at that lost it shows you the subs from the last 90 days, you can change change to "lifetime"

Honestly I just don't even understand the impulse to dislike a video. To each their own. But if I don't like a video I simply skip it. I either like a video or I give no rating.

I feel it has a purpose. Not every video is just subjective entertainment. Some content such a low effort videos, do it yourself videos, home improvement videos , or forms abuse online should be downvoted.

It helps in case something is clickbate or not. Like if you were lookibg up a vid and see it has more dislikes then likes then you can tell that it's a waste of time to watch

I made a new series on my channel that was for the sole purpose of entertainment and it was received heavily poorly with a 7-3 dislike to like ratio. it feels super discouraging and honestly I don't want to continue the series now. what do I do?
When you are a small creator it seems like you will get a lot of random dislikes that don’t mean anything because random people are seeing your videos. It seems like it gets better once you find your audience

I dislike some videos simply because the creator doesnt listen to their viewers or subscribers and starts to act arrogant over time

I had to search because when I’m watching UA-cam rotated, when I’m trying to open the control center I always press dislike by mistake
I mean, it's kinda hard to not ignore it. I am a big people pleaser so when I see there's dislikes I feel like I'm doing something wrong and I'm probably a bad vtuber. That's why I try to stay away from looking at the likes and dislikes cuz it really bums me out if my videos has even just one dislike.
I don't give a shit about dislikes I just love doing videos for fun nothing else matters.

For a new creator on a channel, seeing their retention is low including watch time, they don't need people telling them their videos suck. I'd rather watch someone who encourages them to improve instead of saying "you suck" as you did in this video.

What I don't understand, and take this video as an example, why would people dislike a video? Currently, this video has 179 dislikes, but why? Information is good, opinions are well presented, good voice, nice camera changes, background music not too loud or soft. So, why would anyone dislike this video or others like it? I get it, some people will never be happy, but still. Just doesn't make sense.
Maybe they don’t like the video, stop being so arrogant to think people can’t have a different opinion to you or that you need to be able to understand why.

I am absolutely in love with the start of this video hahaha, (Hey you kinda look like Pewdiepie by the way..? You're his brother aren't you) I think dislikes should be removed tbh, I think it gives assholes a useless weapon to make people feel bad, and it doesn't do too much good for anyone really? I'm not a fan of it, exactly for the reason you said in that for me anyway; The dislikes I've gotten in the past has (From what I can tell) ALWAYS been from people who disagree with my opinion rather than it being a bad video. Like I did a negative review of the last Starwars movie, and saying ANYTHING about Starwars is almost guranteed to get you some dislikes lol

I can relate to you. I started my channel with some subscribers and got my first dislike almost instantly after uploading. I was demotivated because I didn’t expect a new channel with good quality videos to get hate so fast. I hide my ratings now and it has helped me more than ever

I started about a year or two ago, and somebody went and disliked all of my videos for some reason. I know I suck at animating, but come on...
I got dislikes on my videos. They are probably jealous of my content. But i get more people who “liked” my videos so it doesnt matter 👍
I gotten dislikes on my videos too they are just jealous of us because they can't do anything that we can or do our fun videos that we can do
And is a good way to identify if some people are jealous as well, if you shared to colleagues of same profession
The only thing that changed is that I as the viewer can't see how many dislikes are on a video . Which personally I think it is good . Being that a majority of potential viewers are followers . Meaning the viewers will most likely only watch what the majority will watch . So when they come across a video with a high rate of dislikes they won't watch it . This is what hurts the smaller creator trying to build an audience so they can get their videos monetized and promoted . Getting videos monetized and promoted equals better quality videos . Otherwise like for example my videos if I'm fronting all the cost . It's recorded using the Xbox app and quickly pieced together on OpenShot then uploaded . No high end camera crew or equipment . The creator can still see it as well so that they can view it and determine if what they are putting out it resonating with their audience . I think it should be disabled until the viewer watches the complete video like it is on most sites like the sites where they claim to pay people for watching UA-cam videos and such . There is a watch time requirement involved . Then if after watching the video you don't like it cool . Mash the heck out of that dislike button and let people see . But guess what is different in that watch time . I don't know about you but I don't get 4000 hours or whatever it is a month of watch time from someone watching 30 seconds of a 2 hour video and forming an opinion from that short of a window of time . This to me is good it is one of the rare times that UA-cam makes the creator priority one . Look no further than if I had a copyright claim for a 10 second clip in a 2 hour video . Who all gets paid ? Not me is all that matters
A better example on Xbox you can't place a review on a game unless you purchased the game . So why should it be any different here ?

but what if it's just an entertaining video? I make all my videos on phone and can't edit as well as I could on pc, and people are starting to dislike my videos more (even though the ones that are doing good on tiktok, people on yt shorts are disliking them). it's really discouraging and I haven't done anything different in my content

I have long made a point not to use the dislike button the vast majority of the time. My normal practice when browsing and watching UA-cam videos is to watch them all the way through (unless it is absolutely not content I am interested in once it begins to play and it is abundantly obvious) and then if I like the video I click "like," but if I didn't care for the video rather than disliking it, I just don't click either and navigate to the next video. It takes a very very bad video for me to actually use the dislike. It is not that I never use it, but I use it very, very sparingly.

Everytime I deal with toxic kids the first thing they did is go to every single one of my videos, dislike it, and start comment such a negative thing on my videos and call it a day. Any some useful tips on how do I deal with these? And also that's how I got 3 dislikes to my latest video and that's all because the kids that I had to deal with or maybe I should not dealt with these kids.
I'd just delete their comments or totally ignore them until they get bored. If they know they're getting to you they'll keep doing it
