Spring Flowers Watercolor Paint Along - Painted Willow Art

- Mother's Day is coming and these fun little watercolor spring flowers would make a great painted gift or card front. In this video, I'll show you how to create whimsical watercolor flowers with a luminous background and fun doodle techniques. We also look at an alternative for drawing using watercolor pencils instead of regular pencils.

✏️ Supplies Needed ✏️
I have only provided specific links for the things that can't be found at any art/craft supply store, and I do not get commission on anything I recommend - these are just the supplies I love.
Paper: I usually use Strathmore 400 acrylic paper, but for watercolor, any watercolor paper will work. In this particular video, I used Strathmore 400 watercolor paper.
Pens: I love Sharpies - that's what I used in this video, but generally any waterfast pen will work (Sakura Pigma Micron pens are excellent and don't smear with water)
Watercolor: My most used sets are Josie Lewis and Art Philosophy Co. Watercolor In this video I used Daniel Smith tube watercolors that I squirted into a travel palet and let dry.
Tape: Scotch branch clear wall safe tape
Brush: A random #8 round watercolor brush - the handle has chipped, so I don't remember what brand it was.
Paint Pen - I had a white paint pen on hand, but didn't end up using it. It was a Posca Fine point white acrylic paint pen

❤ I use surgical tape...
How does that work? Does it rip the paper?
@@PaintedWillowArt Since I'm accident prone, I have a good supply of different types, colors and widths of surgical tape so I thought I would test some of them for you. They all worked amazingly well. They held the paper down and then released without any tears even when I didn't pull up and away at a 45° angle. Nexcare makes a 'gentle paper tape' and says it lifts away gently. That might be a good option for a first try. A year ago, I bought a six pack of wall-safe tape and it's still my first choice. I love your whimsical art, thank you for all the lessons and inspiration.
