The big Kryptonite locks are a good option but they are vulnerable to cordless angle grinders or worse cordless bolt cutters ! A hefty 😢chain with a trusty padlock is a good idea as it's hard for thieves to hold the chain while cutting ! Check out the new locks which have technology that can seriously frustrate the above mentioned cutters and grinders !
Not anymore. Sadly, the 18mm is only available in small size (NY Fahgettaboudit Mini). EDIT: Sorry, my bad, I was wrong,. It is still available. "New York U-Lock M18-WL"
@@umue11 I saw it too but not many retailers have it anymore , I paid like $70 for the 16mm. 18mm going for $100 I use two locks so I think I should be good
I was gonna get the M18 WL but I saved extra cash and got the ABUS GRAN¡T eXtreme u lock in 2019 it was the toughest Ulock in the world until the release of the Altor SAF it is now the fith strongest u lock on the planet.
Go for the heaviest lock your willing to carry and put it in a good location such as low on the frame or on your waist. I have the series 4 mid and carry it in the bladder pocket in my rucksack with the lock at the bottom. I get on fine with that if im going to town. I also carry a Kryptonite wire to loop through my front wheel. The other thing that can work well is a light weight lock but then take your front wheel with you. No thief will steal a bike that needs parts. Attack alarms work well, the type with the pull pin under the saddle and looped around the back tyre. When the bike moves the alarm will trigger. At that range it's so loud the thief won't know where the sound is coming from. Hope these ideas help.
Any lock can theoretically be cut, but I think the point is that an 18mm is going take longer to cut through than a 14mm. The additional time will deter thieves, but not in all cases.
And??? You’re not going to stop anyone with the right tools no matter how thick it is. Imagine thinking you could? No construction would ever get done if power tools couldn’t eventually cut through even the thickest of steel.
Hi man, I just came across your video regarding my next lock. I do have a scooter I got Abus folding lock but it gives me a headache, it takes so long time to lock and unlock so I am thinking to get Ulock but I could not see 18 mm. How can i get that. Thank you
All these u locks can be cut with an angle grinder, for my $3000 e bike I use the lite lock x1 moto which is a u lock that is very hard to cut with an angle grinder, I use this with a kryptonite chain and a disc lock, that would be my own recommendation for anyone that has an expensive e bike for regular bikes these u locks would probably work.

They cost $ 300 tho
If I do food deliveries on an E-Scooter, and I guess i'd be leaving my scooter for 5 min tops, which would you recommend to get that will be enough?
Where did you buy that long fahgettaboudit lock? I need that for my ebike.
NEW YORK LOCK M18-WL
@@Timo-Epis i can't find ut anywhere online. Do you know where I can get it? Their website says there are no local retailers near me.
Woah I bought the long NY lock in the 16mm I did not know they had the long in 18mm!

What stops them from cutting the pole and taking off.
Can't cut it without a angle grinder and there's no u locks that can withstand angle grinders some just take longer then others
Are these long version?
Yes, these are the long ones.
thanks!
What if your putting on miles on the weekends and don't want to lug 6 pounds but you don't want to keep an eye on your bike?
What would you use?
Because I'm so in love with all my bikes, I'd just use the next level below but still something with girth and quality.

Litelok x3
There is a video that shows cordless high end angle grinder cutting the Forgetaboutit model in two cuts, total time: 43 seconds. He took his time too.
Wow! Dang. Please forward 🙏🏼

I saw one cut in under a Minute, but the lock was hold in place by a beefy vise. IRL you need 2 cuts and have to hold the lock by hand.

That's why I bought a Litelok X1 grinder resistant U-Lock AND a Kryptonite Evolution 1090 chain.
